Nice décor and atmosphere. I ordered smoked salmon on rye spread with cream cheese. I skipped the Wasabi dill oil to be drizzled. …not a fan of wasabi. There are no sides with this dish. It tasted good but I got three halves of bread. It had shaved radish and I got only about 3 or 4. I would have preferred a small side of salad to balance all the bread, cheese and salmon. I didn’t finish it, not because I was full, but I’d had enough of it. My husband had pork chops with eggs and grits. I tasted his grit and they were delicious. Wait staff very nice and efficient.

Awesome atmosphere with ok food. My coworker and I stopped here while we were passing through town. Maybe if I lived in the area, I’d try it again. However, I don’t, and I doubt I’ll be back. The wait staff was very friendly and prompt to server. There was free wi-fi and it was surprisingly fast. I had the Chicken and Waffles, which seems to be something they tout as being the best. The waffle was fine, and the chicken was kind of bland. The pricing was ok. Overall, I’d say its worth giving a shot, if for nothing else you know it’s a cool place with nice people.

This was an amazing restaurant! They had amazingly friendly service and delicious food. I had the shrimp and grits and it was amazing. Cheesy grits with a spicy sauce and spicy shrimp on top. So many flavors in my mouth but my mouth is still watering. My shrimp and grits came in a large bowl so of course I had to use a to go container and our kind waiter brought me a travail spoon so I could eat it in the car. He wished us great travels too. I would go back there in a heartbeat!

The prices seem high for the quality of the diner-type food. I ordered the Eggs Benedict that came with undersized English muffins and the advertised Hollandaise sauce was lacking any hint of lemon.

We are visiting from California and found this local spot. The food was absolutely awesome! Great portions as well. The people working here are super friendly and cool. We had a party of 12, and found a way to seat us all and provide great service. I wish we had this place back in California! Loved it!

Each time I come to Mason Dixon, the food is lackluster at best. But being a local that enjoys local eateries I always decide to give this place another chance. Today will be the last. I ordered the veggie omlet with wheat toast. The egg in the omlet was spongy and springy which, since it couldn’t be egg white, assumes that it wasade with a synthetic egg mix. The provolone cheese was deli slice just thrown in the edge that created a unappetizing lump of rubbery cheese because, which is the real grossness of this dish, the veggies weren’t even cooked in this omlet. Raw squash, zucchini and the butter raw onions are not an appetizing taste in an omlet. The reason this review got two stars and not one is due to the fact the toast was pretty good and the spicy bloody Mary was worth every penny.

Great stop while traveling on 95. Worth the minor detour. We had the all day breakfast Belgium waffle sandwich and the pork quesadilla special. Food was fantastic, everything was handmade, the presentation made it even better. Great choices of beers and specialty cocktails. I suggest the Belgian Weiss with the waffle. Super friendly staff. The menu was amazing, i changed my mind 4 times til I saw the waffle sandwich.

To me, it’s absolutely worth the wait for brunch on the weekends. Just know what you’re getting yourself into before you show up and complain about a 30 minute wait. It’s pretty small in there and the tables are limited, so when people show up with a party of 5 or more, they’re taking up more than one table and that means you have to wait longer. And as I said, it’s totally worth the wait if you don’t mind it. I always get good service and my meal is always cooked well!

I love this place… the food is delicious in my opinion. The cheese steak is one of the best around and the service is good too. I will say there’s always a little bit of a wait, but it tends to be wort it. My only suggestion is when you order an omelet be sure to tell the servers you like your vegetables cooked until soft unless you like you vegetables that are more on the raw side, other than that I highly recommend!

Best waffle I’ve had in forever! Homemade sausage was crispy in the outside with just right mount of spice and seasining, just how I like it. We will definitely be back so I can get my waffle fix on. Get here early. We arrived at 9am on a rainy Saturday and still had a 20 minute wait. If your hungry it’s worth waiting for though. Ample portions served with warm smiles will satisfy even the most ravenous appetite.

O. To the M. To the G. Traveling through Fredericksburg and happened on the Mason Dixon Café. This lovely little place had me at «shrimp and grits» — which is what I ended up getting and yuuuuuuuuum. Seriously, yum. My friend ordered the Breakfast Bowl special and I think her eyes rolled back in her head on the first bite. All the breakfast goodness you can imagine, rolled into one. Big fluffy biscuit, scrambled egg, fried chicken, bacon and cheese, smothered in sausage gravy. Not light, but completely worth the guilt trip.

You’re going to order a hot dog and you’re going to like it. I promise! Do yourself a favor; if you aren’t local, but are traveling I-95, travel just off the exit and check out Mason Dixon. It’s hipster meets locals. The food is great and I promise the hot dogs are awesome. I went purposely because of the photos and raves of their chicken and waffles, but I saw someone seated near me eating a hot dog nestled in a pancake… the breakfast dog. It was perfect. Everything I never knew I wanted! Go!!!

This place is awesome. The food is indulgent but AMAZING. You will not be disappointed here. The blue cheese dressing they make is the bomb. The hot dogs are awesome(by the way they will bacon wrap any of them for you upon request. Sandwiches are incredible, chicken and waffles amazing as well. My wife gets turkey, cheese, stuffing and cranberry sauce grilled into a croissant. Oh and the grilled Mac n cheese is a must. Throwing it on the grill gives it that crisp you will love.

I’d give 5 stars but they charged us $ 2.50 for a kids chocolate milk and $ 3.50 for a kids apple juice! Thats ridiculous. The food is awesome and service is quick although they are always packed. get there early on the weekends if you don’t want to wait.

Got here at 820 and took the last parking spot and the laag table. The portions were large and the food was amazing. My crab cakes were perfect and the breakfast club tastes the way a mcgriddle should taste — plus it’s bigger and fresher. Can’t wait to go back for more brunch. My only(tiny) critique is that there wasn’t a ‘lite’ option, no salad or small egg sandwich. But I guess if you’re going out you should go big, right?

I’ve had this place bookmarked on Unilocal for quite sometime and after seeing some of their recent Facebook posts, decided to give it a try! We chose a Sunday afternoon(poor planning) for our first visit and knowing what I know now, I would do that differently in the future. It was jam packed. The gentleman at the host stand said the wait would be about 30 – 45 minutes(it was an hour) but understanding it’s hard to make a correct guesstimate I cut him some slack. As indicated by others, it’s a small place but that added to its charm I think. Food/drink: We browsed the menu before arriving and decided to try the Bellini and a Mimosa to start– both very tasty and reasonably priced. For brunch I had the shrimp, asparagus and feta omelette with tarragon cream sauce and my friend had the shrimp and grits. My little one chowed down on the kids hot dog with steak fries. All of the food was very tasty! We really enjoyed the creative take on traditional diner food. The portions were generous and the food nice and hot when it arrived(so crucial especially with eggs and shrimp!) Also, I almost neglected to mention that we tried a side of BBQ Bacon. So smoky and delicious! Service: From start to finish was pleasant but not overly attentive if that makes any sense. Bottom line: We would definitely try again, next time maybe a weekday lunch or dinner. The long wait for Sunday brunch was a challenge for my almost 4 year old so I would skip that next time around. The food was good and there were other items on the menu that appealed so I look forward to giving it another go in the future!

Very tasty fried chicken dinner. A boneless breast of chicken in a very good seasoned breading. Got the grilled mac and cheese and Cole slaw as a side. Solid choices all around. Great prices too. My business colleague got the Italian grilled chicken entrée. He thought his was very good too. After dinner we walked across the parking lot and had ice cream at Carl’s. Nice dinner and dessert combo choice right there.

We usually have a fantastic visit(we caught a little attitude from the gal working the bar Saturday morning… but I’ll overlook it. She was probably having a rough day by the looks of it). THEBARISPARTOFTHRWAIT. TODAY. BECAUSEIMWORKING. But tomorrow it might not be part of the wait. Or the last 3 times I was here when it wasn’t part of the wait. Or the time the hostess recommended that we sit at the bar if we didn’t want to wait. So whatevs. You sort of embrace the hipster staff for all their attitude and tattoos and colored hair. It’s part of what makes the place so good. Drinks are expensive. But I get it. It’s not a bar. The breakfast burrito is top notch. Once I tried it, I never looked back. Which is too bad because the brunch menu is epic. But I just can’t pull myself away from the allure of the breakfast burrito and talk myself into trying something new. Share the breakfast burrito, you say? Split a few things so we can try them both? F@#%! No. I need ALL of that breakfast burrito in my stomach. There is always always always a wait. And you will always always always be in someone’s way while you wait. But again, the breakfast burrito will comfort your awkward soul that just got snapped at by the server working the bar and every single customer and wait staff trying to maneuver through the entry way while you stand there and awkwardly feel awkward about watching other people eat. Five feet from them.

We had dinner at Mason-Dixon for this first time on this rainy Wednesday evening-a small place this café is indeed! Because I had looked at the menu beforehand, I knew what I wanted-something I’m glad I did and would recommend doing because there are a lot of options! They seem to specialize in sandwiches, with plenty of your favorites(BLT’s, Cheesesteaks, etc) and some fun and unique options, but also offer a variety of Hot Dogs, entrees, and a few soup & salad options. I went with ordering«The Jive» sandwich: turkey, provolone, stuffing, and cranberry relish on a grilled croissant. The stuffing was in a square patty form so that it wouldn’t crumble and fall everywhere-good idea! I enjoyed my sandwich, and next time I will ask for extra cranberry relish. All sandwiches, dogs, and entrees come with a choice of side, and I chose good olé’ fries-the fries they serve are steak fries… my favorite! I also ordered an extra side: the Grilled Mac & Cheese. Just imagine Mac & Cheese formed into a nice patty and grilled until the edges are crisp… yum! My brother had the Cheesesteak, my father the Fried Chicken Dinner(it was nice and juicy, but not as good as Foode’s!), and my mom had a plain, small house salad with grilled chicken, which she barely ate since she did not like it(chicken was burnt)-but who would enjoy something so… blah?! In conclusion, I’m glad we finally got a chance to try«that place beside Carl’s.» Would I come back? Possibly, but it’s not a place I would go and rave about. I would like to try some more of their various sandwiches in the future!

Came here with my family and everyone loved it. Personally the food is a bit heavy for my taste — but really what can you expect from a southern styled diner. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was pretty delicious. The sauce was seasoned nicely — it wasn’t spicy but definitely stayed true to having a cajun kick. My sister ordered a veggie burger with a side of grilled mac & cheese. The veggie burger wasn’t anything special but the grilled mac and cheese was on point! It was so good — and I highly recommend getting it! Happy I tried this place out — but too heavy of a food for me to go back.
