This restaurant is spectacular! The owners, and the staff are all on point. The atmosphere is peaceful and unique and the food is impeccable! I love coming here on the weekends to wind down from the workweek and socialize with the friendly staff who clearly enjoy their jobs. They’re so personable and kind and if you have any questions about wine they have a Sommelier behind the bar who is happy to come to your table and thoroughly describe the perfect pairings and flavors of the incredible wine they carry. One of my personal favorites is the Bacchanal, a luscious red blend which is so elegant and satisfying. Let’s not forget the servers, Robert and Christopher are so friendly and know the menu like the back of their hand and that’s just a couple of them. The owners Eric and Victor have really created the perfect place for a romantic dinner, family get together, or even a lovely date with yourself. We all need to give ourselves a little love sometimes and there is no other place I’d rather do it(especially with the prime rib! Yummm)!!!

The service was amazing and we thought the food was top notch. Our waiter knew the specials(new for today and 6 of them) perfectly. Obviously a foodie who knows his stuff. We were impressed by the food and sat outside. Warm night but still great in the shade. We think their approach to minimize the parking lot noise is good. Some reviews warm you away because of it, but the food and service more than offset the noise issues. Have the scallops!!! We’ll be back

The menu choices were so hard to choose because it all looked amazing. The specials made it worse. I went with steamer clams and the New York Steak. Both were fantastic! I asked for«medium plus» and it came out perfect. The clams with the sauce were flawless! Fantastic food, fantastic service and fantastic bar tender!

The food was delicious! I had the scallops with risotto, my parent got the NY strip steak and macadamia crusted halibut. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Dad got bread pudding for dessert — incredible! The service was excellent! He knew details about every dish! We’ll be back!

A friend of mine recommended this restaurant. On my latest visit to the area I thought I would give it a try. Some friends and I stopped by and had dinner. I was immediately impressed with the décor. Service was impeccable. We started with some appetizers that were just phenomenal. The crab cakes and wings are some of the best I’ve ever had. The entrees were amazing! I would definitely rate this 10 stars if Unilocal allowed it.

My daughter and I enjoyed a splendid meal at our first time visit at Bacchus. We started off with a small plate, shrimp stuffed portobello mushrooms, and it was delicious, great choice of wines as well. I had the fresh scallops over vegetable risotto, a bit small portion but delicious. My daughter ordered one of the specials of the night, pork loin over potato purée. It was the best pork I ever tasted and a large portion. It was really scrumptious. We enjoyed great service by Rob, and the restaurant had a lovely ambience as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

With all the 5-star reviews, we had to try Bacchus House and my expectations were high for a wonderful and delicious dinner experience. Our party of 7 arrived around 5:30 and the very friendly hostess was able to seat us immediately. I asked the waiter if the crab cakes were made of Dungeness crab and he indicated it was a mix, but was unclear. He mostly focused on the red bell peppers in the cakes which made them a little spicy. I asked the waiter to clarify that the crab cakes were made of Dungeness and he said«yes,» but that’s not what he indicated the first time. Again, he focused on the spicy red bell peppers, which made no sense because red bell peppers are not spicy, but I let it go. I ordered the halibut that I expected would be grilled, but it looked like it was deep fried(most likely it was just fried). The vanilla vodka butter sauce on top of the fish was unusual, but delicious. It was served with 6 tiny green beans and rice for $ 27. Soup or small dinner salad was extra. Portion size was just right for me, but 3 others in our party ordered the special mahi mahi and the portions were smaller for about the same price. Some other reviewers were put off by the décor, which I didn’t mind, but I was disappointed enough with the food that I would steer our group to a different restaurant next time.

Nice place to stop if you’re in the neighborhood. This is our first time here since the change in ownership. Overall, the food was very good and so was the service. Started with the fried calamari appetizer. It was okay, not one of my favorites but the two dips accompanying the dish were very good. We split a salad. I asked for it to be lightly dressed, but it was dripping in dressing. I had the scallops over the risotto and it was good. The scallops were very small. Actually the serving was very small. My husband had the macadamia crusted halibut. It too was a small portion.

This would be a 5-star rating if grading only food. The décor brings it down a notch. The food was wonderful. The portions weren’t huge, but were priced VERY reasonably when considering the quality. I had the wild mushroom soup, with the filet. The soup was excellent. The steak was wonderful and the potatoes had a slightly different taste that I couldn’t stop craving. My girlfriend and I then split the bread pudding which melted in our mouths. The service was very good. Clearly a very tight knit team that works together as you always have a friendly person offering to assist. Nobody feels like they’re off limits to you at any point in time. The décor was the only hiccup for me. The restaurant is small, which is fine, but the design selection is confusing. There were some Easter themed decorations so I’ll give some slack But it just seemed very cluttered and somewhat dated. To be fair, I’d like to see the normal décor. Again, the food was exceptional and easily a 5. Definitely looking forward to trying the prime rib next time.

When I walked in this restaurant I was overwhelmed with the«homey» décor. It’s almost tacky. I came at the beginning of March and they have decorated for Easter with giant 4ft bunnies holding Easter baskets. The bunnies are odd and kind of creepy. The bar looks like they stole a wine vineyard with fake vines and lights shaped like grape bunches. The service was great with one exception that we had to ask for bread as opposed to being offered bread. Now the food was where I was disappointed the most. I had the bowl of pea and micro-green soup. The soup was okay, but not amazing. I had the salmon pasta dish as my entrée. The salmon was cooked well, but the pasta and vegetables inside the dish were oddly flavored and had fennel in it which is a very strong and overpowering flavor. I would not order the salmon dish again, nor recommend it. For dessert we had the cheesecake. To be honest it tasted like it was previously frozen. I think this restaurant is perfect for older folks who like«homey» décor and people with average tastes in food.

Fantastic restaurant, my girlfriend and I come here on a pretty regular basis. Their macaroni and cheese is homemade, and some of the best I’ve ever had. In fact, any thing that we have had there has been amazing as well. We usually go for their happy hour which has discounted appetizers. If you are not a Mac and cheese person, I would recommend the beef skewers with an amazing glaze of sweet and salty.

It was my birthday and I wanted some really good prime rib. So I took a chance at Bacchus House. It was absolutely fabulous; thick, juicy and perfectly medium-rare. The accompanying mashed potatoes and veggies were equally good. Starter mushroom soup was exquisite. Hubby had filet mignon which was perfect although a little on the small side for $ 32. Co-owner Eric introduced himself and thanked us for coming in, which was a nice touch. Ambience and service was very good. This is a good«go-to» place for Folsom, casually nice with good«dress up» food.

The food was good, the service was absolutely horrible. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time, and were seated immediately. We sat for at least fifteen minutes before our server appeared, he gave us some excuse that he thought was funny(it wasn’t). He kept referring to the ladies in our party as «M’LAAAADY». Over and over, «Why yes, M’ LAAAADY»… «No, M’LAAAADY» in this loud dragged out«piratey» way. I think you get the picture! It was very annoying; we weren’t in Disneyland. We ordered drinks, they never arrived. We inquired, and the server reappeared with ANOTHER joke, but NOT the drinks, as the reason for no drinks. We were not amused. He finally appeared with half of drinks, and said they«had found the recipe»(Right — this cocktail was on their cocktail list) for one person who ordered one particular cocktail from their menu. Again he thought he was funny. Again he blamed that for the reason no one was served for so long. And yes, he kept saying«M’ LAAAADY». Ugh. This dragged on for some time, putting us close to their closing time. We finally were able to order one of their specials — a nummy cream of mushroom soup. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish mine as the server came and took it while I was drinking water from my glass! He whisked that bowl away so fast I was shocked to look down and see his hand whisking that bowl away. He never even asked if I was finished — which I clearly was not! Our party enjoyed the prime rib, the salmon pappardelle, and another special — the wild caught salmon. All were good. The Caesar salad was good, the pear salad not what we expected but it was fine. Our server then started coming over a lot, interrupting us constantly while we were mid sentence in conversation with each other. This and his incessant«M’ LAAAADY» malarkey was really ruining our experience, and our visit with our friends! He then turned over our table to a woman who said she was the manager, as he said it was closing time. Well we wouldn’t have still BEEN there had we received service the first(almost) hour of our visit. The manager was pleasant but she also had the rude habit of just interrupting when we were chatting. No simple pause at the table where we could have finished our sentence and then given her our attention, she just burst in. We were really surprised at the unprofessional servers. The food was good. If we were served in the first 45 minutes of our arrival, we would not have been there at closing time! Then we felt rushed out, as if our eating our meals late was our fault. I hope the chef(who evidently is the owner) will address this rude service with his staff. They are ruining his good food with their bad, and/or lack of service!

Love this place, just wish they had a set value meal for those of us who want the salad, entrée and dessert. I find the service outstanding, food excellent, just don’t give 5 stars since sometimes I have an issue getting a hold of them for a ressie. Last month I tried to call and see if I could get a ressie and their phone system was down. Super inconvenient.

5÷12÷16: Finally made it back to Bacchus House for my birthday dinner this year. Every bit as fantastic as I remember. I ordered the stuffed pork tenderloin with rock shrimp and spinach. My friend got the Mahi Mahi special, and my hubs ordered the steak, rib eye I believe. The desserts we shared were the bread pudding(OUT.OF.THIS.WORLD.), the Butterscotch crème brûlée which was super creamy and delicious, and the Dark Chocolate Terrine cake, with orange accent. The cake was rich and decadent and the orange just really accented it’s superior status. Not sure if I got the name exactly right of that last dessert but you get the idea. The meal was so good I asked the Chef to come out of the kitchen so I could tell him. I have not honestly done that in years. If you want to go spend a casual weeknight dinner OR special occasion evening with superior service, a lovely ambience and décor, and a REALLY, REALLY good meal from Chef Victor with the perfect wines and cocktails to accent, this is the place. Plus, they do have music in there from time to time, a harpist I’m pretty sure. Best way to be updated is get on their mailing list. Note: They are closed Mondays. ************************************************************************************ Went there with a friend of mine this past weekend and absolutely loved it! The Christmas Décor was super festive and cozy, reminded me of having dinner in the William Glen Christmas shop haha. OK now down to the important part, the food and wine! I ordered the roast pork belly small plate and it honestly was one of the best things I have ever tasted. It was cooked perfectly, super rich and so flavorful. I also love the wine list, and appreciate the fact that some very desirable wines were also available by the glass and not just the bottle. My friend and I got Frank Family Chardonnay. Harry and Brett were great too– w/friendly service, having great conversations with the guests, and very knowledgeable about the menu and able to give several recommendations when asked. The food, wine, service, and ambience are all A+ and I cannot wait to go back.

Exquisite food, uncomfortable atmosphere. if only on food alone I would give this 5 stars; however going to dinner at a restaurant with this price point should be an overall positive experience and prior to the entrees arriving we were ready to leave. The interior of the restaurant is over decorated in my opinion but others seem to like it. The real issue was the tables and chairs — they were metal patio furniture indoors and it was very uncomfortable. The tables were small and the waiter even put our oil and balsamic on the table next to us because he felt it was too cramped on hours(the restaurant was only about 25% full). The service was reasonable. A bit slow at first but improved as the evening progressed. The bread was very good. The salad was lovely when I could get bites with all the ingrediants although it was lacking a bit on the apples and nuts so only a portion had those flavors. I had the Day Boat Scallops which was served on a vegetable risotto. The scallops were beautifully cooked and the risotto was to die for. The food was so good that I will go back but not if I am wanting a fine dining experience.

5 star service, very knowledgeable servers. The restaurant is set up like an Italian bistro and very nice. Chris was our server and I cannot rave enough about him! He knew the menu + wine list in and out, and made the PERFECT recommendations for us. This was our first time here, and we will be back. Overall, a wonderful first impression and wine and dine experience.

Went in on Halloween and was greeted by sensational staff and a house made ghost cookie — excellent prime rib dinner and another tasty complementary treat of carrot cake cupcake with a cream cheese frosting The entire place was decorated or should I say staged to make you feel the spirits in the air — everybody was having a great time — I believe a birthday party was being held in the back room and everybody was having a fantastic time– a lot of wonderful costumes from patrons and staff — a delightful evening for all — way to go Bacchus house

I have been to Bacchus house a few times in the last year and I have been impressed by the creativity of the chef, not only in the taste of the food but also about the artistic presentation of each dish. He does an outstanding job with soups without been excessively fatty. Considering today’s focus on lower fat, it is important to have less fat but not compromise taste and flavor. To me as a person who is older coming out of a restaurant and not feeling like I have to reach for antacids later on in the evening is very important. I find the food to be balanced and satisfying. The staff is very courteous and the place alway looks good and lively. You can tell they are all having fun. I give it a 4 ½ rating. Perfection is always the goal to be attain and they are on their way. Enrique L

So we were supposed to do an UYE here but it got relocated. I was here before for a glass of wine. This time one of my buds came for dinner & drinks. We went straight to their side patio which had 5 tables and 2 were occupied. They had several greek statues and a water fountain and nice camouflaging shrubbery. You can hear the cars driving by but its not bothersome. They also have Brat Pack music piped out to the patio which was nice. There is a second patio out front with around 5 tables that looks directly out onto the parking lot. Inside was decorated with Halloween items; witches, jack o lanterns, and assorted stuff. The decorations seemed a little busy and not in a good way. You had to move stuff hanging down out of the way to walk by. They have a bar and lots of tables inside. The ladies rest room was clean and had more slightly tacky decorations. Our server Brett was knowledgeable about the menu but not so much about bar offerings. I was trying to find a nice light glass of wine and sampled 4 before just settling on a mai tai instead. We skipped the starters and ordered dinners. We ordered the swordfish and the prime rib. The medium rare prime rib was amazing! The sword fish was meh. It came on a bed of rice with french green beans. Meh. The prime rib came with an au juice, horse radish, and a couple small potatoes. As we were all enjoying the end of our dinner the Manager came by to chat with the two tables of patrons. His name was Eric. He was telling us about the concept behind the place, his desire to bring organic and non-GMO ingredients, and what the restaurants’ future entertainment plans are. They have live music several times a month. They also do special menu dinners which seemed interesting. He was knowledgable but wasn’t really receptive or interested in any feedback. After he left we ordered desert and the bread pudding a la mode was recommended. I was disappointed cuz it was doughy and hard to eat. I needed a knife & fork! We all sat outside til 11 and they never kicked us out. We were ready to move on to round 2! I would give this experience either 3 and a half stars or 4 but not more. Hello Eric, I received your reply, thank you for your explanation of my experience at your restaurant. I understand that everyone likes a different décor. I’m certain that you garner a lot of attention with your generous and flamboyant Halloween decorations. However, I personally didn’t find it to be attractive or that it fit the perception of a «Wine Bar». It seemed to me more appropriate for a family restaurant or a non-alcohol establishment. That’s just my opinion. As for the need to move it to pass it by, well I don’t recall exactly if it was a vine or something hanging down in the entrance area. While we were waiting to be shown a table another couple came in and brushed past us to proceed to the bar. As I moved to avoid getting elbowed I ran smack dab into it! Oops! As for my perception of you not taking any suggestions or feedback; That was in reference to the conversation you were having with the other patrons seated on the patio. I overheard most of the conversation because their voices were rather loud and it was difficult to avoid overhearing. I heard them offering suggestions about the patio décor which I agreed with and the menu. I made no demands to have any answer for a Unilocal event. Thats simply not something I, myself wanted to do at the time either. Thats why we exchanged contact information. After reading your response I felt disappointed that you didn’t acknowledge all the positives I included in my review. The best thing about Unilocal is that businesses cannot pay for reviews and patrons are free to give their opinion about their experience. I did say overall I enjoyed my evening and gave my own list of positives. Again, thank you for your dialog regarding my criticisms and what other Unilocalers do with this review is up to them. You have earned an overall fantastic Unilocal score and that is not by accident! Cheers!

My husband and I visited Bacchus House for the first time on 10⁄15 specifically for the Rombauer Wine Maker dinner(my favorite winery so had to check it out ;), but after an awesome evening, we’ll definitely be back for more! We arrived and were immediately greeted by a very pleasant hostess who showed us to our seats in the main dining area. The lighting was dimmed and the surrounding classy décor made for a really intimate setting. However, just a few feet away on the other side of a half wall, the bar area was meticulously decorated in a fun Halloween theme so it was a cool juxtaposition. Shortly after sitting down and chatting with some very nice nearby fellow first-timers, we were surprised to be presented with a glass of my favorite Chardonnay and a fluffy puff pastry filled with a sweet fruit(maybe raspberries) complemented nicely with a warm savory cheese. The owner then kicked the evening off by getting on a microphone to introduce himself and graciously thanked everyone for coming, which was refreshing considering many places now seem so entitled. He brought up the in-house sommelier and the wine rep to discuss the varying wines, food, and pairing, which was done between each serving and much appreciated by us novices. They then brought another, even larger glass of Chardonnay(who would say no that ;) along with a crostini that had spread on it a mixture of foie gras and black truffle oil then topped with crunchy micro greens… not usually a fan of liver, but this was really tasty! Next was one of my favorite dishes, which was a lobster, leeks, pancetta, corn chowder and a couple of chive sprigs. The corn purée made it soooo creamy and the mild spice of the leeks and chives paired with salty pancetta and a buttery piece of lobster placed in the middle made it melt in your mouth. The salad that followed was so complex, with so many flavors and textures from the juicy heirloom tomatoes and soft-hard boiled egg to the briny green/black olives and crispy hericot verts green beans. Then you throw on a perfectly cooked piece of yellowfin tuna and a drizzling of olive oil and surprisingly it all melds together nicely especially with the glass of Merlot included with it. Then came the ribeye, which generally speaks for itself, but this dish was so much more. The gnocchi were like little potato pillows filled with an earthy porcini mushroom concoction and the gorgonzola sauce added such a wonderful rich creaminess atop everything. A sip of the best Cab around imho, washed each mouthwatering bite down. Lastly was dessert and as with everything else during the night, it didn’t disappoint. Chocolate isn’t normally my thing, but the silky panna cotta, sweet Zin and arguably the tastiest item of the night, the salty bacon and pumpkin seed brittle, were delicious together. The experience concluded with the owner once again thanking us, then introducing the wait staff, which btw were terrific to say the least, and the head chef and co-owner along with his staff, which is amazingly just one other sous chef! Somehow those two exquisitely prepare multiple courses at once that come out as if they were made specifically just for you, a task difficult for an entire staff, let alone a duo. As part of the package, the wine was specially priced so we purchased a couple of bottles, thanked the owners/chef and promised to return… and we highly recommend you do the same, you won’t be disappointed :)

So good I could cry. Maybe it’s the fact that my seared tuna came to me with the tiniest prettiest little rose ever. Or that this pear martini has a delicious maraschino cherry in it. Or the soothing music. Or the retro Halloween décor. I don’t know quite exactly which element is making me so happy, but I do know this place is amazing. Great place to end up after yoga and a wonderful way to end my chill Sunday!

So Friday night! We arrived here like 6:30pm they are busy! We came inside and we wait like 4min to notice someone that they have customers waiting. no one HOST in there to GREET T us lol. And we saw her refilling water to all customers! Anyways so the place is small not so big so if you are going here BIG purse is not good lol. Because of the small space of their tables. So our server is so entertaining but still they keep waiting us to arrive our orders. The food menus are bit pricey but worth it. My boyfriend and I tried to ate different because we’re always eat«sushi» lol so we like our ordered but we HATEIT when we wait for so long! First order: we wait like 15 – 20 minutes we’re both hungry 2nd order: our dessert came 20min :/

I brought my mom here for Mother’s day just to try something new. I had high hopes based in the great reviews. SERVICE: The service was awesome and our waiter knew the menu like the back of his hand(this is always appreciated). FOOD: The food was just so-so. I ordered the special– Chilean sea bass on top of mashed potatoes. Sea bass is my favorite protein of all time. Mine was overcooked so it wasn’t the typical buttery, melt in your mouth texture. I was bummed. My mom got the prime rib, which she loved! You really can’t go wrong with prime rib. And it was HUGE. Definitely worth the price! My dad got new york steak– which he also loved. But my dad has never met a steak he didn’t like. :P For dessert, we got the sampling trio and the berry plate(highly recommended by our waiter). The desserts were also a big disappointment. Nothing very impressive, came off a little sloppy and a bit like an afterthought(which was surprising since I heard there is an on-site pastry chef here). The berry plate had literally 2 strawberries and a few blueberries and raspberries. The only reason they can get away with charging full price for this is because they spread it out on a giant plate so it looked like a full dessert. However, if you put everything in a bowl, it would probably anger a lot of people. The dessert trio had a slice of cheesecake, a small crème brûlée and a small bowl of frangelico«mousse». While the cheesecake and crème brûlée were satisfactory, the mousse really just looked(and tasted) like someone squirted simple whipped cream into a bowl and called it a day. All in all: Minus some of the food flaws, my family had a great experience here :) 4 stars! SIDENOTE: This had to be said. There’s a seriously gorgeous server here who looks like he belongs in a Calvin Klein underwear ad. You know who you are!!! #sorrynotsorry

We finally got around to trying Bacchus House. My wife and I enjoyed Bacchus’ predecessor at this location and the Unilocal reviews were quite positive so we were looking forward to a pleasant experience. So much for expectations. We arrived around 6pm on Friday without a reservation and were informed by the hostess that there would be no problem getting a table for two. We opted to have a drink at the bar first. Two things struck us immediately. First was the piano music emanating from an area adjoining the bar. It was LOUD. Second was the décor. What a mess; busy and overdone. Above the bar was some sort of faux tree branch abomination with flowers and butterflies. I sat at the corner of the bar and literally had my vision blocked by an imitation butterfly. After a few minutes the bartender acknowledged us with«what are you crazy kids up to tonight?». We’re middle aged but, OK, whatever. He then brought over a placard with drink specials and appetizers and meandered off. We sat waiting for him to return to take our order for the next 10 or 15 minutes while he yenta’d it up with other patrons and served people who had arrived after us. My wife and I exchanged a knowing look — things were going down a disquieting path. Just then the piano cranked up a few more decibels with a rendition of «Great Balls of Fire». OMG give me rock, techno, house, industrial, alternative, punk, grunge, rap … anything other than 50’s rockabilly. And then for the death blow people in the adjacent room began singing along which brought this hideous cacophony to a whole new torturous plane. In my 50 plus years on this planet I’ve amassed far too few nuggets of wisdom. But here is one that has served me well: Life is too fucking short to suffer voluntarily. And so we left. We walked to Manderes which is nearly next door and had a pleasant dinner. I gave a rating of 2 stars because we obviously didn’t try the food and I hate to skew their rating excessively based on what might have been an anomalous experience. That said, we won’t be going back.

After visiting Baachus I am extremely perplexed by most of the positive Unilocal reviews for this place. I did not have a good experience. First, I’m not really sure how this place qualifies as a wine bar. Yes, they do have wine but no more than most restaurants. With the number and variation of wines they carry pretty much any restaurant could call itself a wine bar going by their standard. Second, the service could not have been slower. I went on Friday night around 7pm. We sat down at 7. It took 20 minutes for the server to come over and take our drink order. Another 10 to deliver our bottle of wine(30 minutes sitting so far). We placed our dinner order as soon as the wine came and it took almost a full hour to get our food. My mother got the shrimp salad and I got the vegetable risotto. How long does it take to prepare some lettuce and rice? We were absolutely starving and by the time we got our food we had gone through 2 bread baskets and drank our bottle of wine(since we’d been there for an hour and a half by the time the food arrived). So we had no wine to go with dinner and we were a little annoyed by this point and didn’t want to order more. The worst part is that we received no explanations or apologies for the ridiculous wait time. An update would have been nice. When we finally did get our food my mother said«wow, that took a while, I hope this is good!» She said it in a joking manner but obviously commented on the crazy wait time. The waiter didn’t bite, made no comment on the hour delay and just set our food down. Nice. Sadly, our food was so not worth the wait. The risotto resembled soup more than risotto(it actually wasn’t bad, but risotto isn’t supposed to be served in broth to my knowledge). My mother’s shrimp salad was very disappointing. It had all of 3 shrimp in it. There were a few positives I must point out to be completely fair: the hostess, Dakota, was just a doll. Two, the outdoor patio was pretty decent. All in all, I paid over $ 100 for a bottle of wine, some soupy risotto and three shrimp in lettuce. Thumbs down.
