Food was mediocre. Restaurant was extremely warm. Made it difficult to enjoy the meal. Do not order a lemon drop as it tasted like it was made with country time lemonade. After all it is a brewery. The only good part about our experience is that the waiter Wes was superb.

The view is amazing. The food is good. The service is SLOW. I would have made my dinner faster at home with the amount of time it took them to bring my order.

Went here a long while back with my parents and my husband for lunch one day(thought I’d written a review but I guess I didn’t). I don’t recall the details of what we ordered(I got some kind of sandwich), but I do remember being thoroughly underwhelmed by the price of the food in comparison to the quality and amount of food provided. I do remember that the french fries were the best part of the meal… I mean, seriously? It’s not hard to make good fries anyways. I know we also had a server who was seemingly MIA the entire time(we frequently had empty water glasses) while we tried to flag down various other staff members as they shuffled by our non-busy section of the restaurant. I guess they are assuming that they can charge more for their food as they have a beautiful location, but that is definitely not enough to bring us back.

Awesome location, tasteless food. Last time I was there was 2 years ago & it hasn’t gotten any better. How they’re still in business blows my mind. This perfectly placed, scenic building overlooking the American River deserves to have delicious food served to its local community. If the owners can’t get their ish together, throw in the towel so somebody with higher quality standards can move in and pump out delicious food to the masses!

My husband and I went here on our wedding anniversary we had the worst service and it was so bad we will never go there again, over 45 minute wait just to get waters there was only 2 people working that day and we wanted to ordered drinks but the waiter never came back a round. And there was no manger to be seen at all and the restaurant had maybe a dozen people in it, so my husband and I left and haven’t been back and we told the waiter if was our wedding anniversary when we were seated even. So not only was it horrible service but they also all most messed up my wedding anniversary and that was my 1st time there as well. If I could I would give this place ZERO stars it was that bad.

Went to Sudwerks for dinner with my folks yesterday and had an ok time. The best part of our experience was being able to sit out on the outdoor balcony which overlooks the Sacramento River. The only complaint that I would have would be all the bugs that were out there. I feel like the restaurant needs to do something to minimize the gnats and flies. The food itself was pretty good. I had the Sautéed Prawns and rice pilaf which was very nice. Would go back again for the view but not the bugs!

My girlfriends and I attempted to go here for lunch on Sunday. I waited 10 min at the hostess desk with no one greeting and the phone was ringing off the hook. After a while a crowd formed at front entrance and everyone was wondering if there was anyone that worked there around. Finally someone flagged down a very sweaty, stressed looking waiter. He told us there would be a half an hour wait and he was doing the best he could. Half the restaurant was empty. I can not understand why you would run a business this way. With the location this restaurant could be amazing. I felt bad for the stressed, over worked waiter, it’s not his fault. After talking to people that were sitting in dining area that said they had been waiting over an hour with no food, we left. I have been here a few times and it is always bad. That is sad. I only went this time because my girlfriend suggested it.

Fool me twice, shame on me. What surprises me is I’ve heard a few people say positive things about this place but their experience was many years ago when they first opened. My first experience was in 2012 while the in laws were in town. It was on a weekday night, 9’ish and not that busy. Lots of issues, slow service, a table that walked in after us got their food before we did. The food was edible but nothing special. The waiter seemed frantic, forgetting just about everything from beverages to follow up visits making sure we’ve got everything. For his short comings he offers us free desert. It was one slice of cheesecake to be shared by our party of 6. Last Sunday a friend invited us to brunch, she said the Eggs Benedict were good. The problem was with the ham, super thin, both eggs were hard boiled and I didn’t specify, not even a teaspoon of fake Hollandaise sauce. To top it off the chef decided to dump an extra dash of paprika. Probably okay on Deviled Eggs but not this dish. As others mentioned they have let the place go, including the parking lot, as in the striping is gone and there’s pot holes everywhere. The only reason for the 2 stars is the view and outside seating on the balcony. This place might be a great stop for a few beers and some appetizers. My wife’s Bloody Mary was almost undrinkable, like it had a tablespoon of Tabasco. This place could definitely be a candidate for Gordon Ramsay’s show«Kitchen Nightmares».

Bar scene was busy but we went for dinner. Menu stuck to the table; the whole place seems to have a 10 year layer of grease on it. French dip was passable but the chicken Cesar salad was not… chicken was overlooked and lettuce was old. Prices are high for what you get but pass for competitive. Service was prompt and polite. Not going back till they clean it.

Torn between 2 and 3 stars, thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. I pretty much agree with all the other reviews, BEST view in town, great beers but the décor and food needs some work. It has great potential to be something very special. New owners needed probably. The patio could be amazing.

This was once a nice place. It is now showing a lot of wear, doors are dirty, floors are worn, outside near small patio shows a ton of wood rot. It’s closer to a dirty dive then it’s once upscale incarnation. I asked for the gluten free Cobb salad and they put a slice of bread on my plate! Besides this snafu the salad was delicious and the French dip the wife had she said was fab.

This place is pretty nice. On a nice sunny day, it could be a very cool place to eat. Outside patio and a beautiful view. This was my first time here… so I tried a little of everything. For appetizer, we had the sampler plate… it had calamari, onion ring and avocado egg roll. It was good. Calamari was flavorful and onion ring was fresh and crisp. Avocado eggroll was my least favorite. I’m not a fan of cream cheese and it had it. The sampler plate came with 4 different sauce. For entrée my friend and I shared two plates. Fish and chips as well as a sausage plate. The fish and chips was good. Probably will not be the best fish and chips you ever had… but it was well cooked. Sausage plate had 4 different kinds… they brought out mustard and horse radish with it. Made it taste better. The mash potato that came with the plate was nice and smooth. Pretty tasty. The bad thing I didn’t like about this place is that it only has 5 different beers from sudwerk. A Pilsner, a hef, amber ale, IPA and I forgot the last one. Wished they had more selection from sudwerk. Overall, a cool place to go eat.

I came to Sudwerk’s for a bridal shower that they held in a back area. The restaurant, itself, is ok. There’s nothing special about the décor or ambience, it’s basic. But the view is very nice. The service there was very mediocre. I didn’t feel that they went out of their way to make the event special, but they were on hand to get us things as needed. The food, however, was not good. Since it was a shower, there was only a few choices to choose from — Caesar salad, a pasta dish, a steak dish, or a chicken sandwich with fries. I had the pasta and it had no flavor, it was swimming in sauce, and wasn’t presented all that nice to be honest. Others said that there food was either just ok, or not good, as well. It wasn’t a completely awful experience, but I likely won’t be back.

There are two good things about this restaurant, so I give them two stars. One… the bloody mary’s and two… the view from the patio. Neither make up for the terrible service and food. I keep wanting to go back to have a nice meal or a drink on their lovely patio… but can’t get past the customer service(or lack of), so I just avoid it altogether. Q’bole doesn’t have as nice of a view, but it’s still a very lovely patio for an outside meal and a drink… and even better, the food and service are great!

Great view with an awesome outside seating area, however, the food lacks what I crave in order to do a repeat return or recommend this place. It was just so-so for the price tag. Nonetheless, had a great time chit chatting it up with a friend and the service was great.

I really want this place to be good– I went to UCDavis and spent many $ 1 beer nights at Sudwerk’s, and I am now a Folsom resident and want all local restaurants to do well. But the reality is that this place is a huge disappointment. Pros: — Best location in Folsom, with a deck that overlooks Lake Natoma Cons: — The food is average. Nothing special. And I think I had the most positive experience with the food of anyone at my table — The aforementioned deck looks like it could use some work — The four Sudwerk beers that they serve are ok, but they are the same four that they have served since I first went there 15 years ago in Davis. I know they have new beers, like the IPL, because I can buy them at Raley’s. But you can’t get them here. I was told the brewery in Davis would not provide any of those beers to this location. Why? No idea. But it’s one of the reasons this place probably won’t be around much longer

Disgusting. Your’e better off with applebees, that is how foul this place is. My fiancé and I moved to the neighborhood last year, & have driven by it many times saying, «we still haven’t tried that place». Tonight we stopped in for an early dinner, it was fairly early(around 530) so i didn’t think anything of it when it had few patrons, and those who were dining, were easily past retirement age. We asked to be seated outside, as the potential view is what had peaked our interest originally. We should have left when we were seated, and their were spiders, cobwebs, and dead insects EVERYWHERE, but the view was beautiful, and there was a nice summer breeze, so we decided to order. Beer, the pilsner was better than a coors, but that’s about it. We got the avocado spring rolls, 4 half pieces for $ 12-something. It didn’t taste horrible, but absolutely not worth the price tag. My fiancé ordered the pot roast sandwich, and I got the bbq chicken salad. The pot roast sandwich didn’t have the horseradish as mentioned in the menu, so after waiting a few minutes i got up and stood in the dining area for a few more minutes, then poked my head in the kitchen to ask for some. Our waitress brought out a prepackaged squeeze tube of horseradish. The ‘fries’ tasted like Orieda frozen potato wedges, not bad, if you’re 6 years old, & the meat was mostly fat, and in no way was ‘slow roasted’ as described. My salad was SO soggy, the lettuce was wilted and drenched in dressing and bbq sauce. The cucumbers were dried out completely. The chicken was thin, dry and tasted as if it had freezerburn. Neither of us ate even ¼ of our meal before we were unable to eat it anymore. To top it off, there was a feral cat outside, no biggie on any normal occasion, until the couple on their awkward first date next to us, AND our waitress started feeding it! Throwing their leftovers, or even bringing bacon out from the kitchen. Then the waitress started discussing how she had six cats, because ‘you know cats, they just go for it’. We waited for at least 10 minutes, before getting up and waiting in the dining room to get our check. I truely feel sorry for the waitress, as she stated she was the only one working the floor, and there were at least 8 other tables, 1 being of a party of at least 8, when we left. After spending over $ 50 on the worst meal i’ve had in years, we walk out to a employee smoking AT the entrance! Never again. Ever.

«The bun on my cheeseburger was good.» That is the ONLY positive thing that anyone could say about their food this past Father’s Day. I am so ridiculously disappointed in our experience here — I cannot believe that a restaurant can stay in business and provide this type of service. It was our first time here — my BF wanted to try it out for his Father’s Day brunch — his parents were in town, so we wanted it to be kind of special, being Father’s Day and all. I called over a week ahead of time and made a reservation for Sunday brunch. I wanted to come in at 11 but the man who answered the phone told me that that they were not opening up until 11:30 on that day, so 11:30 it was.(Incidentally, when we arrived, it was clear that the restaurant did open up at 11, despite what the guy on the phone told me — huh.) We waited in the entry way for over 5 minutes just for someone to acknowledge us. Once someone did, we were sat relatively quickly. Our server greatly resembled«fear the beard» Brian Wilson. He was nice enough. He arrived to take our drink order, and we had our drinks about 20 minutes later — VERY little exaggeration there — it may have been 19 minutes — either way, it was ridiculous. A full 40 minutes later — an hour after placing our order, our food arrived. The poached egg on the Eggs Benedict had a hard yolk & little to no Hollandaise, the omelet & potatoes on my plate were cold, the salmon on the sauté was dry and cold, the cheeseburger was seriously half the size of the bun and was… yep, you guessed it, dry and cold — the fries and the aforementioned hamburger bun were good though! Their kid’s menu does not include an option for pancakes, so our 8 year old had to order a full sized pancake breakfast that was twice the food and twice the cost than we needed. Seriously, how does a restaurant have a kid’s menu for brunch and NOT have a pancake option!!! In fact, there were no breakfasty options — just a burger, pizza and chicken fingers me thinks. And it’s not like they’d need to go out and buy some special product — just use the SAME batter to pour SMALLER sized pancakes and VOILA — a kids’ pancake meal. Duh. We sent back the Benedict and got a marginal apology and that’s IT. The replacement Benedict was pretty good, for the record. It’s like someone just left our food under a heat lamp for an extra 30 minutes, forgetting to grab it. I get it, people are human, waiting tables can be busy, but you have to own that — apologize, make replacement food. Don’t expect me to spend my hard earned money on sub-par food that was cold, dry and overcooked because you forgot about a table. This is an awful example of a restaurant and I highly recommend that you avoid making the same mistake that we did, at all costs.

This place is okay. Great location with a great lake view from the patio. I like the food, but even the appetizers are overpriced. It’s in the Folsom tourist trap area so I guess the higher prices are to be expected. Service is so so at best. I have been here a few times and the staff is in low gear. I have been here when it’s not so busy and drinks and appetizers take longer than you would expect. It feels like the staff has an attitude due to the high volume of tourist in the area. Maybe it’s the micro brew restaurant thing? Some of the«it’s like that here» comments are a bit odd. Especially since I work in Folsom. I like the beer selection and the setup is pretty cool. I would return for a happy hour after work, but probably wouldn’t make a special trip here.

SOMUCHPOTENTIALHERE! It really is a shame I am giving a three star review(in reality, 2.5). First off, the location is probably the best in Folsom. Overlooking the river, this is the best place to grab a beer in the summer. However, the building itself is in dire need of repairs, which reflects poor on the establishment as a whole. Dryrot in the siding, peeling paint, dirty carpet, it leaves a negative feeling about the place in general. The beer is great! I love the samplers, and the variety. The food however is pretty mediocre. Burgers, sandwiches, some pasta dishes, nothing really special or worth coming back for. I’d love to see them utilize their fantastic location with a remodel, some updated seating areas outside with fire pits, and a more contemporary menu. This would be an AWESOME small wedding venue if they realized their potential.
