This horrible place has finally closed! The owner is being sued by the other partner. The employees were left with no pay and no W2 in sight. He didn’t pay the IRS, he didn’t pay his partner, he barely paid his employees and never on time. No one delivered product because he owed money to everyone and couldn’t get credit. He had no idea how to run a restaurant and thought it would just run itself. It did. It ran itself into the ground. Food was boxed or canned and extremely overpriced. Good riddance! Don’t EVER do business with Michael Hampton.

Drive by there today and they have disappeared. Are they OOB or did they move? Anyone know?

I really hate to give bad reviews(especially when I used to love the restaurant), but my last experience at Hamptons was soo bad that unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll ever return. The food(my food) was yummy, but there were soo many problems that the food didn’t make up for it. I’m not one to usually complain & I’m very patient for the most part(especially when I know the server is new), but instead of having a nice meal with my sister & mom & leaving satisfied… I ended up leaving w/a headache & everybody was a little frustrated. The bad: — Waiter was working the floor alone & kept saying he’s only been working there 3 days(completely unaware of what’s on the menu). — Gave us our drinks and tried to take our menus w/out taking our orders & then acted surprised that we wanted to order food. — He couldn’t remember our orders… Was trying to memorize everything(not writing anything down) resulting in having to come back & ask me what my order was 4 different times. — Cook didn’t seem to know the menu either(served a grilled piece of unseasoned fish instead of sesame crusted ahi tuna). — Forgot the other half of my salad(was served on two separate plates). — The fish(from the fish & chips meal) was undercooked & soggy. — SLOW service(2 ½ hours to eat lunch) we were sitting around waiting for our server a lot of the time. — A lot of confusion between us, the server & cook. The good: — Our waiter was very nice & apologetic — Most of the food was good.

We had lunch here yesterday after deciding to try a new place. They have a few good beers, and the jalapeño margarita was tasty. We started with the«seared ahi tuna» appetizer. I put that in quotes, because what came out wasn’t seared ahi tuna. It was a big tuna steak, cut awkwardly, not seared, and served with neither soy sauce nor wasabi. Not tasty at all. My husband had a pulled pork sandwich and«upgraded» his fries to Cajun. For $ 1 extra, «Cajun» fries are normal fries with salt and some cayenne pepper sprinkled on them. Sigh. The long and the short of it is that we had great service(quick, attentive, and she took the«ahi» off when she realized we didn’t care for it!) BUT the food needs so much work. The tuna, and the $ 1 for salt and pepper were painful.

After living in Folsom for little over a year, my wife and I finally decided to go to Hampton’s to ring in 2016 with a visit to a place we haven’t been before, although now I wish we hadn’t. While the service was excellent, my wife and I and our friends were extremely underwhelmed with the quality of food and more than suspicious of its pricing. Fourteen dollars for a(literal) half head of lettuce and store-bought dressing? No thanks. Another $ 14 for a French Dip that was mostly bread and no cheese. Again, no thanks. If it wasn’t for the excellent service we received, I would have nothing good to say about this place.

Split a fish and chips and a lemon drop cocktail. Fish was tasty. I actually liked the batter, it was not the heavy starchy thick kind. You actually had more fish than batter. So,‘I would give that a major plus. The fries was even better. It’s the kind of fries that’s perfectly crispy in the outside and not at all super toasted or extra soggy in the inside. It was perfect. I can’t say much about the lemon drop cocktail. The taste was heavy in the lemon and hardly had alcohol. It was more of a virgin cocktail. Too pricey for the amount put in the glass. But, that’s okay. I can make my own lemonade at home. I’d go back and try their burgers. Saw one two tables across, and it looked good.

Wow, what a waste of money. The host was nice when he took us to our table but everything went downhill from there. Flippant service and extremely mediocre food.

Let’s be clear on things. There are restaurants that happen to have bars and bars that serve food. Hampton’s is neither. For a party of 8. Please save yourself the time, energy, effort and the headache of trying to get help with tables or even just ‘ok’ service. Staff was rude and not very friendly which added to the overall dull experience. Drinks? You probably need to be drunk to eat the lack luster food that was put out for the ‘brunch’. I should also note that they were ‘out’ of several specials, yet they weren’t very busy. Needless to say, this was the LASTCALL.

This weekend was my 2nd bad experience at Hampton’s, I’m sad to report. I love their location and their patio, so I’m really disappointed to have one less great place to eat on Sutter St. We were greeted in a less than friendly manner, and though the place was nearly empty, were asked to wait 10 minutes for a table upstairs(I think she made us wait because we didn’t like the table up front that was sitting in the glaring sun). Our party of 5 was seated, and our waitress kept walking away when we seemed unsure of our menu choices and were seeking each other’s suggestions — never excused herself or asked if we needed more time. She just walked away. Then came back. And did that numerous times! When our drinks were served, my sister’s water had a dirty straw in it! Dirty silverware was returned to our waitress. Our food took 20 to 25 minutes to arrive with the apology that there was only 1 cook. Our water was served without ice with the apology that there were only 2 ice cubes left and they were running to get more. Our food was mediocre. The appetizer — fried pickles — was dripping with grease. And it was delivered with 4 plates, not 5. Cold fries. Burned sweet potato fries. Good salad — yay! Medium hamburger was delivered too well-done. When our check was delivered, the waitress took more than 10 minutes to return, so we got up and paid on our way out. Just extremely unpleasant. Just wow. Don’t know how they’re going to stay in business.

After being treated unkindly at Hop Sing and not much better at the Samuel Hornes Tavern I happened upon this restaurant and what an AMAZING place. The place wasn’t busy(Sunday night), but a football game was on, it was comfortable, cute and clean inside. The 2BEST things, well 3 if I count the wine were the server Hailey and my meal. When I tell you it was worth all the rudeness and every quarter to have that experience, I WILLGOBACKSOON. firebird burger(elk patty) salary cabernet wine. Fantastic!

Have been here a few times for drinks in 2014 and they were fine. We had dinner there this week. The food was good but, like the previous reviewer experienced, the service was horrible. Bartender left twice to go to Chicago Fire — turned out he was ordering and picking up dinner for himself! Kind of funny, but a little odd! Cocktail was all water and ice chips. We won’t be returning.

Came here after work just to relax and reflect on the day. The bartender Scott, was very attentive and his customer service skills were right on point. The layout of the bar was great with indoor and patio seating. Scott’s attention to detail never allowed our drinks to run empty and his workstation was extremely clean/neat. Overall great place will definitely be back.

Just get a Burger, they cook it just right made to order. I requested Medium rare and that was perfect. Small place, Small menu selection, boring beers. And good luck choosing because they run out of items too. Place needs an overhaul already. It’s very plain with junk and vendor merchandise lying around making it look worse.

Everyone was so welcoming and friendly! Service was great. Loved sitting outside on upper deck, beautiful evening to enjoy our meal. We both had burgers, mine was the blue cheese(aka black and blue) and it was delicious. My husband had the grilled onion and mushrooms burger which he loved. We shared some onion rings which were yummy. We will definitely be back. Would love to sit outside and enjoy the fire table or the comfy sofa arrangements with heaters nearby.

I have been wanting to try the beef wellington burger and today I happened to be in the area so I gave it a shot. I saw the recent reviews have been very poor but decided to try it anyways. I got there at about 1:30 so they were fairly slow, the bartender was the only server and she actually did a good job for the 5 – 6 tables that were filled. The burger was disappointing though. The sauce was good(although there was not much of it) and the burger patty was OK, but the puff pastry that comes on top was under cooked, folded in half and totally flat… Think of a pie crust that was not cooked enough and was all doughy. It had potential but was not worth the $ 16 at all. I guess i should of gone sooner before the place started to go downhill.

Stopped in to get a quick bite to eat with friends before a Unilocal event. I’ll make it quick and short. The service was non existent. We spent most of our time trying to get someone to take our order because we arrived later than anyone else. With so many servers walking past us, no one wanted to take our order. Their excuse was, blah, blah, blah, someone will help you shortly. The damn bartender finally noticed our frustration and took our order. Ordered a Grilled chicken with avo Sammie. We told him we were in a bit of a hurry and it arrived rather quickly. Score! For the bartender! The sandwich had an odd, peculiar taste. It was a rather interesting and odd sandwich, by taste alone. Don’t recommend. There are so many different places in old Folsom I’ll try on my next visit, but probably not Hampton’s.

Met up with some fellow Unilocalers here to kill some time while waiting for a Unilocal Elite Event next door at Sutter Steakhouse. The service from the young female staff(servers and hostess) was below average, and the food was average but not worth the price. I had the spinach artichoke dip($ 10) with baguette slices(both toasted and plain). It was a small serving of dip that was very bland and not creamy enough. My boyfriend had a basket of fries which were ok. We needed napkins and didn’t see our server so my bf asked the hostess for some. She responded, «I’m just the hostess.» Mind you, she was 2 feet from the bar and there weren’t any customers waiting to be seated. We wanted 3 separate checks for our party of 4 but our server said she couldn’t do it. SO… there was cash and 2 credit cards given. I told her specifically how much to put on my card. She comes back with our receipts and she rang mine up for more than the amount I stated, saying«I charged you the amount for what you ordered». I didn’t tell you to run it for what I ordered(I thought you couldn’t do separate checks!)! I wanted to pay cash for the rest of my tab+tip. Sheesh. It had taken awhile to settle the bill, so I didn’t bother having her change it, I was ready to go! On a positive note, Hampton’s is between 2 really good restaurants. Take your pick.

Awkward. I don’t know how to start. After being seated we had to go check at the front after not being seen for 20 mins. Not even water. Then it got even more awkward when another 20 mins passed after finally getting water. We had to walk to the front to order food, which took about another 30 mins. Btw, we were brought 2 waters, 2 sets of utensils, and there were 3 of us, even after we kept asking. It almost seemed like this place was trying to screw things up. I usually still give spots a benefit of the doubt until I taste the food. Well, the food didn’t get much better. The bacon on the burger was barely cooked, and on the flip side I ordered a medium burger, which was about 10 mins passed well done. The fries were soggy and flaccid. What a waste of money and a waste of time. The only thing this place is good for is maybe an outdoor ambience for having a beer or 2 in a cool area, but still not good enough to get me to 2 stars. Oh btw, the burger was $ 15! Geez. Well at least I don’t have to worry about coming back here. Horrible

Just average The food is good and the location with the patio is great. The problem is the service. I have been here a few times but unless I hear that things have changed I won’t be returning. There are just too many really good places on Sutter to waste time here. And wasted time is the big issue. The service is horribly slow. Slow to get your order taken and even slower to get your food! The servers are nice enough but don’t check the tables very often and I am not a fan of empty drinks. Many better options in Folsom

My girlfriend and I finished our morning walk on the Folsom trails with our newborns and decided to try Hamptons on Sutter for lunch! They seated us outside in the back patio area(which was actually perfect for our strollers). The waiter was OK(I had to find him when we needed water and when we were ready to order). I had to dock the star for the service. The food was incredible. I ordered the turkey melt with salad on the side. Delicious! My girlfriend also enjoyed her lunch! Overall a good experience, just wished our waiter was slightly more attentive.
