My love affair with Yumtown began with«The Joy,» which brings me immense joy! Delicious pulled pork with the zip of jalapeños, mellowed out with a little aioli on a perfectly toasted bun… a sandwich so delicious that sharing it with an acquaintance provided the foundation for what has become a beautiful friendship. This friendship that has enjoyed the brilliance of a many Yumtown creation including the Edgar Allan Potato(in which we opt for a pork belly substitution over tempeh, to create a sandwich so rich the flavor lingers in my mind for days after eating it), deliciously flaky biscuits with a perfect combination of goat cheese, plum jam & herbs(which I frequently try & fail to replicate in my own kitchen), and mind-blowing blueberry bread pudding… Yumtown was the beginning of a friendship that loves brunch. In addition to providing great food, the Yumtown truck is staffed by a lovely crew of warm & friendly faces. As a West Philadelphia patron of Yumtown(don’t have the pleasure of being near Temple on a regular basis), my only complaint about Yumtown comes on those Saturdays when I journey to Clark Park & don’t see the likes of that brightly colored truck… But if you are in Clark Park on one of those beautiful Saturday mornings when the truck is on the corner of 43rd& Chester, order one of their delicious sandwiches(and dessert if it is one of the days they them), spread out a blanket, and revel in the beauty of great food enjoyed at a beautiful park(one of the few places I’ve found in Philadelphia where I can feel joyous energy floating through the air).

I am only sad because Yumtown is not an actual town that I can live in and build a home for myself out of millions of Edgar Allan Potato sandwiches. Also, I am nominating myself for wife of the year because I managed to save half of this veggie delight to bring home for my husband. Fingers crossed that my kindness is rewarded during the holidays.

As much as I loved my college experience in a suburban town, I would have given my right arm to have some of the food truck options that kids at city schools like Temple, Penn and Drexel have. Granted, the Freshman 15 would have been more like a Freshman 45 for me if there were trucks like Yumtown at my university. Visited Yumtown while at Night Market. I had the BLT Panzanella and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich. Now, as a proper Italian woman, I know how to make a pretty mean panzanella. Not to toot my own horn, but my version is banging. Yumtown’s version blows mine out of the water. Well played, Yumtown, well played. This panzanella was a delightful medley of fried bread, fried lardons(similar to bacon), tomatoes, arugula, and blue cheese. It was probably one of the most delicious things I’ve had from a food truck. I also tried a bite of my husband’s pork sandwich. It was topped with some cole slaw and it was the perfect combination of hot and sweet and tangy and creamy and soft and crunchy. Yes, all of those adjectives. I am totally ordering that sandwich for myself next time we see Yumtown. The prices were a bit on the higher side for the portions, but you can tell they use very high quality ingredients, so I’d rather pay a few extra bucks for something good.

One of the best food trucks on campus. It’s more expensive than others, but worth it. Charismatic owners, and acceptance of credit cards, take it a notch above other trucks. I paid $ 7($ 2 for a glass bottle of Coke) for a pulled pork sandwich. It could have been constructed better – pickled jalapenos seemed to be unevenly distributed – but it was delicious. For the«premium price,» I think it should have been wrapped better, but overall I liked it. Truth is: there options that are just as good on campus that are probably a better deal, but my guess is that every thing on the menu here is good.

Amazing! I had walked by this place often and finally decided to try it, can’t believe what I had been m\issing. I got the Edgar Allen Potato and had to go back the next day to try the Joy it was so good. Im still thinking about that sandwhich a week later, might have to go back today. Definitely one of the best vegetarian things I have ever eaten. Everything was perfectly cooked, the textures and flovrs complementing each other fantastically. The simple menu keeps choices easy and you can’t go wrong with anything they offer. Really above and beyond the quality of most of the trucks at Temple and only a bit more expensive than most. The price is more than justified by the quality and uniqueness of the ingredients I only wish they had longer hours as 11 – 3 can be a kind tight window. Will definitely be back again and again.

I’ve always been a huge fan of food trucks – especially ones that offer unique quality food. Not a huge a menu; in fact, there are only three special sandwiches(that usually slightly change every now and then) of which I’ve had two(and I was blown me away how incredible they were). Must have: The Edgar Allan Potato. This delightful sandwich consists of a perfectly toasted baguette filled with roasted sweet potato, hummus, red onions, and a lot more ingredients that work so perfectly even for the non vegeterians. The Joy: the pulled pork was not only delicious, but it easily became one of my all time favorite sandwiches from a food truck – actually no, one of my favorite sandwiches anywhere! Love the combination of pulled pork and red cabbage topped with jalapeño for a wonderful spicy kick. Yumtown makes me miss being a student to Temple, and it’s definitely one of my main reasons to go back on campus.

I am not usually on main campus so Yum Town was a fantastic surprise! I walked by all the usual stuff on 12th street and was uninspired. I was just about to head out when I noticed some fun looking trucks on Norris. I was totally excited to see there was Banh Mi on the small menu because I had really been craving it. I thought the price of $ 7 was a little high and the wait(only a few minutes really) seemed a little long for a basic tofu sandwich BUT… this was no basic sandwich! I fell in love at first bite with this fresh delicacy that I know must have been cooked with love! The perfectly fried slabs of creamy white tofu, shredded beets, daikon radish(my fav) and of course the requisite cilantro and jalepeno were all deliciously stuffed in a perfect baguette and accompanied by some type of homemade mayo(I’m guessing?). It was sensational. So thank you Yum Town. You really made my day! I will make my way back to campus soon and quite possibly for the explicit purpose of trying another one of your delicious sandwiches or maybe that fried mac n’ cheese!

YUM-town indeed! I came across the best sandwich I’ve had in Philly here. I happened to be in Clark Park on a Saturday morning, and the name and vibrance of this truck immediately caught my eye. I went over to check out the options and I was amazed by all of the incredible options. Though they weren’t open yet, the friendly woman working there told me they would be soon and was extremely welcoming. Sold, I came back to a long line of about 10 people. When I was finally able to order, I was still torn between all of the amazing vegetarian options, so I asked for a recommendation. The same woman told me to go with the Edgar Allan Potato, as it was a Yumtown classic. I waited about 10 minutes for them to prepare it, but it was well worth the wait. Best. Sandwich. Ever. The Edgar Allan Potato, other than being a clever pun on our dear macabre poet, is a drool-worthy combination of roasted sweet potatoes, black bean hummus, red onion, cheddar, kale, Sriracha, and grilled tempeh, all on a soft but toasty artisan baguette. All of those things on their own are essentially my favorite foods, so just imagine them together??? Incredible. Each of the ingredients had strong flavor individually and melded flawlessly with the others. All of their ingredients are clearly listed as locally sourced too, so you can taste and feel the commitment to care. And, for $ 7, you do get your money’s worth(and they take card!,) as the portion is hefty! I can’t say enough good things about Yumtown. From their attractive truck to their friendly staff to the mindblowingly good Edgar Allan Potato, Yumtown has me on board as a loyal customer, and I know I’ll be back next time I’m in the Clark Park area on a weekend!

Many argue that Yumtown’s prices are not good. I won’t say their great but how can one be upset when you are eating the most freshly prepared sandwiches or soups on campus? This food is well made and well researched. I am a big fan of their vegetarian sandwich the Edgar Allan Potato. It consists of a black bean spread, sweet potatoes, tempeh, red onion, and served on an Artisan Boulanger Patisserie baguette. It is perfection! I am also partial to their Joy sandwich, which has been their signature since they’ve started. It is a pulled pork sandwich with cabbage and served on a kaiser or a baguette. Give them a shot if you’re on Temple campus or see them at an event such as Night Market, stop by the Yumtown truck and taste the magic.

This is a great truck and I should eat here more often! I have only gotten«the Joy,» which was really good. The pork was not slathered with obnoxious sweet barbecue sauce and had more of a porky flavor. The main part I like about this truck is that they have a list of where the food is from, which is very important to me. It is nice to know that it is good quality and local. I do wish they had more selection, like just one more sandwich. But, they must do those few very well.

Visited this truck outside of Union Transfer — amazing peach pops broke the evening’s heat beautifully, and the fried Mac & Cheese with a fantastic basil marinara was spectacular. So good! Went back a month later at the Night Market, and had the Cajun Green Beans — easily the best thing out of a night filled with great food.

Visited this truck today about 1 pm in Clark Park. Every other time I’ve been 11 – 12 on Saturday, the truck has had a decent sized line, so I had never tried it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the wait for me. It wasn’t bad, but $ 7 for a food truck sandwich is ridiculous if it isn’t at least good! Maybe they were tired but when I got«the Joy», there was no «BBQ» to the pork, and no hint of the jalapenos. The slaw and challah were pretty standard, nothing to write home about. I’m giving them a 3 star only because the food is locally sourced; if you want good eats at Clark Park on Saturday, Kung Fu Hoagies is the way to go.

I haven’t had this at the campus location, but I just had them at the Night Market at the Italian Market. The pulled pork slider was amazing. The ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, with a list taped the truck of where everything came from. The pulled pork was actually very very tender, I’m not sure what other ingredients were on there, but it was delicious. There was some white sauce, some type of slaw, but all types of juicy goodness. A bit steep at $ 3.50 for a tiny slider, but it was dripping juices everywhere and pretty much worth it. Not going to fill you up, but it’s high quality. They also have a vegetarian options. No beef at the fair, but maybe there is other stuff at their regular location when the choices aren’t as limited?

I discovered Yumtown during the Fairmount Arts Crawl yesterday. One bite of their Carolina Tacos and I was riding a unicorn with Ron Burgundy all the way to Yumtown. The boo suggested two Carolina tacos for $ 3 and I said«do me on it!»… They must have had a limited menu that day because on their site I’m seeing a whole slew of unique truck bites that I’m dying to try. During the arts crawl they had three types of tacos and a sandwiched named after Edgar Allen Poe(I think). The Carolina tacos were pulled pork tacos stuffed to the brim with pulled pork, pickled cabbage, and cotija cheese. Plus you can fill a little container guy up with tomatillo sauce for additional adventures in Yumtown. The pork was moist(gross word) and delicious, and the tacos were a bit messy but in a good way. Sometimes taco trucks just don’t give you enough meat. Yumtown knows a good meaty taco. They need to come on down to University City town where I can grab up their bites on a weekly basis. BTW, if you haven’t checked out the Fairmount Arts Crawl it is a must for Fairmounters. Seriously, I think I was in love with everybody that day and I didn’t even do drugs.

Yumtown, indeed. Locally-sourced, humanely grown, good food you can feel good about eating. That’s good! I finally had the chance to try a sandwich from Yumtown the other day, and quickly gobbled it up. I was kind of bummed that they were out of the lentil chili + cornbread combo, but The Christine I got was just as good. Vegetarian-ly delicious. Mmm, pickled beets. The white beans didn’t really stand out much, though. The Joy was… well, you can probably guess. That pulled pork and jalapenos, mmmboy. And all in a hardy baguette, so you know that sandwich will still be fresh and unsoggy even if you wait to eat it – though why would you? I love how you can check the sources of the ingredients right at . Their Twitter/Facebook also has the latest updates on their hours, which is pretty helpful. Ooh, I need to grab some of those cookies next time, too. Possible competition for Insomnia Cookies?

Best lunch truck on campus hands down. I’ve made a concentrated effort to sample every establishment on campus over the past year and the food at Yumtown just can’t be challenged. They throw some interesting ingredients together that you wouldn’t find anywhere else on campus and they do it well too. Even the cookies are spectacular. The prices are slightly higher than food truck fare goes, but the quality you will get is worth it. Some of the sandwiches look small but they are so densely filled that you get too full halfway into the enjoyment. Only down side is I’m too lazy to go all the way to Norris most days O:). Yumtown needs to open a store… it would be tough competition for Sabrina’s-like establishments.

I barely stroll around Temple’s campus. so I didn’t even know this food truck existed! The menu has some interesting selections and it is rotated according to season. Ingredients are definitely fresh and top-notch. Workers are definitely friendly and chatty. Yumtown also accepts credit, which is a plus for me since I don’t like to carry cash. yay! As I stood in line, I wasn’t sure of what to get. and that’s when I remember reading a review that suggested a pulled pork sandwich(«The Joy»). Priced at $ 7, the portion of the sandwich was not bad and the quality is awesome. As I devoured it, I definitely know why this pulled pork sandwich was recommended! The baguette bread it is served with is crunchy, the pickled purple cabbage and peppers were tasty, and the pork was overcooked or dry. Bottom line, I think this is a sandwich that was put together very well. The Joy left a great impression on me. I’m excited to try the rest of the menu!

Temple’s campus is still not mecca for lunch trucks, but Yumtown is certainly doing their part to bring the environment up a notch. They prepare fresh, local sandwiches and soups from good ingredients. And that simple fact means that they’re better than most of the other food around. It’s pricier than the other food trucks, but he meals are well worth the price. If you’re a fan of bread pudding, swing by here to taste the variety of the day for only $ 4. When I visited, I had a pulled pork sandwich with pickled jalapenos and cabbage. At $ 7, it was a decently sized sandwich on crunchy french bread. The meat was good, and the toppings melded together well. Bottom Line: Yumtown is a welcomed addition I hope to see for a long time on Temple’s campus.
