I’m a critic when it comes to Neopolitan style pizza, having experienced the beginning of the wood-fired Neopolitan revolution in the US early on at the fantastic Punch Pizza in Minneapolis. This is some of the better Neopolitan style pizza I’ve had all over the US. I had the spicy sausage pizza. I think the crust was quite good(chewey and slightly blackened as it should be). There was a minimal amount of sauce as is typical. The sausage was a very fine crumble, something I wasn’t quite expecting. The caramelized onions added a bit of a sweet flavor. If I were to nit-pick a few things… there was a little texture problem between the fine crumble sausage and the very limp onions due to the caramelization. I would probably forgo the caramelization in favor of just a slight softening of a sweet onion in the oven as the pizza bakes so there’s a bit more body to them. I would also go for a bit of a thicker crumble on the sausage. Finally, I would take the spice factor up a notch, nothing I couldn’t solve with a dash of red pepper flakes but if I’m ordering a pizza with spicy in the name I expect it to be a bit more spicy. Overall I’d recommend Nomad if you like Neopolitan style pizza and you’re in Philadelphia(or one of the New Jersey locations). It’s not the absolute best I’ve ever had, but it’s up there, and much better than many.

New to the area and found this place not far from my house. I ordered the Arugula Salad, which comes with housemade buffalo mozzarella, strawberries, and pecans, bathed in a lemon-pepper vinaigrette. I ate every bite of this fullplate-sized salad. The cheese was moist and creamy, the strawberries fresh and sweet, the pecans provided a great crunch and smokiness, and the zing of the vinaigrette was the perfect glue holding everything together. The well-balanced housemade lemonade went extremely well with this dish and was welcome on a warm evening after a long day renovating a new house. I sampled the appetizer-sized(3pcs) Aracina(Risotto/mozzarella balls). These disappointed due to under-seasoning issues and the risotto being a bit overcooked and somewhat gummy. Fortunately, the meal was saved by a phenomenal four-cheese(Quattro Formaggio) pizza, whose crust may be the best I’ve tasted. The oven in this shop is the real deal, producing crust with just the right amount and placement of heat to plump the dough so it is springy and soft, while producing enough char to yield a crunchy, smoky bite on the bottom. The atmosphere, as others have noted, is also a plus. The open-air, modern, communal table and street environment as well as small group seating inside and outside lends itself to a crowd that includes families, singles, couples, and even well-behaved pups waiting for a stray slice to fall their way on to the pavement outside. The wait staff were also stellar in every regard — attentive and friendly without hovering or trying too hard to make conversation. I will definitely be back!

Really delicious pizza in the South Street neighborhood! During Happy Hour you can get the Margherita, Marinara, or Pepperoni for $ 10. We opted for the Pepperoni, Arugula con Prosciutto, and Truffle Pecorino pizzas. 3 pizzas for 3 hungry people turned out to be more than enough– we were stuffed! All the pizzas were great. I loved the doughiness of the crust. The Truffle Pecorino was especially delicious– savory and egg-yolky and heavenly.(And it has mushrooms, so you can pretend it’s healthy!) My only gripe is that the pizza got a bit thin and soggy in the tip and middle, leading to a lot of sliding/dripping off of toppings. Pleasant service and a cool cozy décor topped off a great experience.

I went for the first time with a group of 15 people for a friend’s bday and it was one of the best pizza’s I’ve had in a while! I like the chill atmosphere the restaurant has– it allows for people after work to come in, but also families as well. Also they have big enough tables that allows of 15 or even more! Great place for big groups. We went in right before Happy Hour ended so was about to get a beer, margherita pizza and pepperoni for HH price. The Margherita pizza was good, but nothing too special. We also ordered the risotto balls, truffle pecorino, and shiitake mushroom(perks of going as a big group is being able to try many different kinds of food: D) The risotto balls were pretty good, but nothing noticeably unique about them. As people have said, the truffle pecorino is definitely good, but the best pizza of the night for me goes to the shiitake mushroom. A couple of us thought that was the best one as well. It was something I have never tasted before. The caramelized onions and mushrooms work really well together. I would definitely get this again. One thing to note is that the crust is pretty good as well. Usually, I leave the crust and eat the«good» part, but the crust is pretty tasty here. Will definitely come again and try out the other pizza’s they have!

I had a really poor experience here last night. I sat down with my family for dinner and told them I was in a rush so had to order quickly and then leave. Servers didn’t care. They took their sweet time with everything and the pizza came out after 50 mins. I was so late I had to quickly eat a slice and leave while the rest of my family boxed up the pizza and leave after me. The pizza was poorly done as well and no where near what I remember it tasting how it was when I first came here. I got the hot sopresatta pizza and there was significant liquid at the bottom of the tray making the crust horrible. I’m never coming back here. I’ll go and give nomad Roman a try, but the combination of poor service, poor pizza, and expensive prices made my Saturday VERY disappointing.

My 20 year old son and 10 year old daughter are always interested in trying new things. So upon googling best Philly Pizza, Nomad on South 7th Street popped up with amazing reviews. The pizzas are just a bit larger than a personal pie. We test tasted the Margherita, the Soppresatta, the Truffled pecorino mushroom, and the Quattro White. These are the Bentleys of the pizza world. All the ingredients are so fresh, as are the veggies. The crust is fluffy! Not too thin, not too thick JUSTRIGHT! Treat your tastebuds to the wild side of pizzas… btw, the Soppresatta is THEBEST!!! Spicy kick with a honey twist. Save this spot for a special occasion as its a tad pricey

I been wanting to try this place out for quite some times. So since my nephew was visiting and decided to stop in some stores on south street we decided to stopped in and try their pizzas. The menu is very limited. Most was just pizzas. So we ended up ordering the spicy sausage pizza and the pepperoni pizza. I didn’t like the spicy sausage one too much. But the pepperoni pizza was very good. Definitely would come back for more pepperoni pizza.

Love this place and we’re lucky to have it South Philly. While the pizza’s great, the foods, great, the drinks are great, reasonably priced, etc… it’s also just a great«place». Just had my daughters first birthday there and the staff was super nice and unbelievably attentive and we had a great time! So if you’re in South Philly and looking for a great place to be — this would be it.

Having had a really rock solid Philly pizza experience at Zavino, I strolled into Nomad on a Saturday early afternoon with the bar already set pretty sky-high. Nomad Pizza Company met my already lofty expectations, and it’s good to know that Zavino doesn’t have a monopoly in this town on great pizza. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? A bit in contrast to Zavino’s darker and more refined upscale vibe, Nomad is your classic pizza spot meets taphouse of sorts in what is a grittier part of Philadelphia. The servers are friendly, and seating abundant, and the experience a good one with the oven right there for all to see. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? At $ 16.00 for my Spicy Soppressata pizza, the price point at Nomad is almost identical to that of Zavino, where I paid $ 17.00 for a pizza that was almost the exactly the same size. Could I have eaten it all? I could have, but more reasonably this was a pizza that could comfortably serve two. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? This was some excellent pizza. The crust was flavorful and cooked to perfection, and while I was a tad bit peeved that the toppings came sliding off during my first bite, such is the nature of pizza these days. The Soppressata was spicy and flavorful and the basil and touch of honey added to the equation in a really good way. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I couldn’t give Zavino five stars because Nomad Pizza exists, and I can’t give Nomad Pizza five stars because Zavino exists. Yin and Yang: balance with two excellent options. No Star Granted.

Nomad, Nomad… It’s about time I put a review in but this place is easily one of my favorites; if not the favorite place to dine when I’m in desperate need of a casual night out on any given day of the week. What I particularly love about Nomad is that it invites both local professionals for happy hour and a family of four trying to feed hungry and playful toddlers. Which, however, might bring credit to pizza itself; that fun, crowd pleasing meal for all ages but only when it’s done right and Nomad has definitely mastered it. But onto food; my friends and I haven’t strayed from the $ 10 Pepperoni offered between 5PM-7PM. The other Nomad location offers their happy hour specials between 4:30PM-6:30PM so that’s something to keep in mind. I’ve also had the risotto balls, meatballs, and a number of deserts but pepperoni is easily the favorite; especially after they switched to a smaller yet more flavorful cut of meat. I will say there is some truth to the runny pizza, which wasn’t always the case however; a simple remedy might be just to wait for the pizza to settle before you dig in. These pizzas are made to order; right in front of your face and I’m usually too hungry to mind. Moreover, their desert menu has gotten a little interesting with their pound cake but it sells out fast and is a better option for desert than the Nutella pizza. I honestly can’t imagine why someone would want another pizza for desert… Why? Full bar — something for everyone and oh yes, yes; the service. Part of my early love for this place had a lot to do with the bearded fellows who unknowingly(and also) served as eye candy but that has changed a bit. There are a couple new friendly female and beardless faces and the service is just as good. It’s the reliability, atmosphere, and quality of food that always brings us back so of course… We’ll be back. PS. Keep in mind there’s free parking on Wednesdays. However parking in general is hardly ever an issue between 7th and 8th street. Enjoy.

As a big fan of the Nomad Roman on Locust Street, I was looking forward to visiting this 7th Street outpost, and was not disappointed. This is the Neopolitan style pizza(not the Roman style of the other location), and they do it excellently. Very similar menu to the other pizzeria, and similar if not identical draft beer list. An excellent one. What I liked was that on a Tuesday evening, the place was not crowded, and did not have the frenetic energy of the other location. The wait staff also provides superb service. Unlike Roman, however, they apparently do not have a cappuccino machine, but they serve French press coffee. Ours coffee was not prepared properly, so we brought that to the attention of the staff, and they immediately replaced it, with copious apologies. Our waiter then offered to comp an additional coffee or dessert for us, but we were totally sated and happy.

If you’re looking for quality delicious pizza, look no further than Nomad. I prefer this location over Nomad Roman — the crust is just so much better and the specials are hard to beat. At first glance, the place looks pretty small with a long somewhat awkward hallway to wait in before being seated, but no fear! the upstairs is large with lots of tables and a full sized bar. I really prefer sitting upstairs, though it can get a little distracting if there is a movie on. I thought they only did movies on Sundays, but there was a movie on when we went a few Tuesdays ago. Service can be a little slow when it’s busy but the staff is super friendly. In terms of food, Tuesdays are absolutely the best deal– BOGO pizzas?! It’s a ridiculous special that leaves both my stomach and wallet happy. I highly recommend the spicy soppressata pizza. In my opinion, it’s the best pizza they have and I can’t go here without ordering at least one. It’s on the spicy side, but the honey drizzled on top smooths out the spice without making it too sweet. It’s really just a perfect blend of flavors! Other favorites: spicy sausage, truffle pecorino, peashooter(this was a special that I would love to see on the menu full-time). Could do without: blanco haze. The blue cheese salad is also legit. The nutella pizza(sans bananas for me) is a rich and satisfying way to end the meal if you’re feeling glutinous. Be aware that they automatically add gratuity on Tuesdays to account for the BOGO special. Come here! You won’t regret it.

Soft and Chewy Pizza coupled with a delicious house salad. I went here on New Years Day Night and was a bit tipsy, but let me tell you, everything was scrumptious and memorable! The staff was super nice and unannoyed by our lethargic decision making skills. We sat at the bar area and got to see how all the magic went down. I couldn’t have been that tipsy because we ordered a house salad, and only rabbits eat salad while intoxicated. Actually, rabbits also only eat pizza as well, so forget that.(Nat Geo, 1988) Nomad facts that I learned from my visit or stalking their website afterwards. –organic –green. Composting the ish out of everything! –specials — bogo pizza nights and hh deals! –food truck! So…whatever frame of mind you’re in, get to Nomad! I shall return to try more of the unique pies, as we played it safe with the simple, yet delicious Margherita.

MMMMMM Nomad. I should preface this by saying that my date and I were pretty drunk when we went here, but I really don’t think that is influencing my review decision here. We walked/stumbled in, were sat at the bar. The service was great and very patient with our slow-decision making. We tried a salad and a pizza. the one with homemade mozzarella. The salad was huge, fresh, tasted great. The pizza was so good. I wish I had been more sober to better enjoy it but I guess instead ill just have to go back again. The crust was yummy and perfect, the whole thing was delicious. it was cool to watch them making the pizzas too, from where we sat.

If you’re looking for a great wood-fire pizza joint, then make Nomad your spot! I am consistently impressed by their quality of pies: fresh ingredients and flavorful pizza sauce. I would definitely would come here for their happy hour specials from Wednesday-Friday 5−7pm! If you have been to their other location Nomad Roman(on 13th and Locust), these happy hour specials vary a little. You get the same price for your select draft and wine for $ 4, but their pies are slightly larger than the personal pies that they serve at Nomad Roman, which is why they are $ 10. The ambiance is way cool in this restaurant with both a more open floor plan on the first floor with some outdoor dining options and a more intimate with dim lighting on the second floor with a large projection screen on one of the walls. I didn’t know what they were playing, but it was just background visuals. I would definitely recommend coming to this place for drinks with friends!

SOOOOOGOOOOD!!! Man, there is something to be said about wood-fired ovens. I have come to realize what that je nais se quois about my favorite pies is, and it is the oven. And the crust. And the toppings. Nomad scores a perfect 11 in my book. As the 315th person to review this place, there is not much else to say that has not been revealed on Unilocal,so I will stop here. Pizza in Philly?! You have to love that alliteration however. Anyway, a friend and I were looking for a nice dinner place after she got out of work, and we stumbled upon here. Situated in a nice and casual place in Philly, we decided to give it a try. Parking around 6PM in the evening was slightly difficult, but it did not stop us from coming here. We were both happy to know happy hour was on at this location around this time, so we started off with our $ 4 house wines. For me, I’m still acquiring my taste of wine in general, but, it was definitely one of the better wines I have had in the area. For appetizers, we tried out the Arancini, which are stuffed risotto balls. Being served with marinara sauce, it definitely was a nice start to the whole dinner atmosphere while we were waiting for the pizzas we ordered. In addition to the happy hour drinks, certain pizzas were being discounted. Thus, we both ended up getting the Margherita and Pepperoni pizzas for $ 11. The Pepperoni pie was on point. The AppleGate Farm(not the ice cream company) meats on my pie were really fresh and it gave me an extra special feeling to the pepperoni. The Margherita pie, a good key performance indicator for pizzeria restaurants, was amazing. Everything was balanced on both of our pies and we were so satisfied that we couldn’t finish all of our food because we wanted to save it for tomorrow! Overall, this place is a gem in the city of Philadelphia. It’s a good atmosphere to go on date since it is really convenient to walk off the food you just ate after! I’ve been here twice now and am a huge fan. The first time was a while back. We had a table upstairs for 5 and had an incredible meal. We started off with some outstanding appetizers, which included fried green tomatoes and fried mozzarella with marinara sauce.(Not sure if this is still on the dinner menu, though.) We followed the starters with three pizzas: the Spicy Soppressata, Spinach, and Quattro Formaggi. They were all outstanding, and we were all stuffed. Today, I went back again and it was even better! We got outdoor seating, which was wonderful. We each had beers and shared a Spicy Soppressata pizza, fresh out of the coal oven. It was so flavorful, topped with a perfect amount of soppressata, mozzarella, basil, tomato, garlic, oregano, along with the added kick of red pepper flakes. The crust was so good — thin in the center, and bready around the outside. Not the cheapest option for the size(that would be Pitruco Pizza and Dock Street Brewery), but excellent nevertheless. As far as drinks go, the selection isn’t huge, but among what they do have, there is something for everyone, and that something tends to be great. Definitely a spot to visit regularly.
