Came here for lunch. The food was ok. There is nothing really special, just got a gyro. I would come back again. It was reasonably priced and the service was great

A friend took me here for 1am food run. Hookah pulls nice here but it was pretty dead for a Friday night. Minimum spending per customer is $ 15. Hookahs about $ 14 and food prices range from about $ 4 – 6. Their food is decent. Not that great but not terrible. Their food service however was terrible. My friend had to ask to check on the food because it’s been a 25 min wait so far. There were only 3 parties in the place that night… They didn’t give any napkins or silverware with our food order either. Overall it’s a pretty chill place but I’ve been to better hookah bars.

Iv come in here multiple times as they have the best steak and cheese and gyro! Don’t know why it took me this long to review this place. The guy at the counter was hospitable and cared to ask me how my food was twice! I always go for the steak and cheese and fries or the gyro! Make sure you put some hot sauce on the steak and cheese. The place is very convenient I never have to wait!!! If I do wait it is because my food is being prepared in front of me!

In town for a conference and ordered delivery at my hotel. I was told I would get my order in 35 – 45 minutes. I did not receive my food for 1 hour and 20 minutes and I got the wrong pizza. At this point I was too hungry to complain, but I do not recommend anybody orders delivery from this establishment. I told the hotel so they do not give out this restaurants menu anymore.

Food is ok. Maybe I’m comparing it to a «Coney Island» that I’m used to. Bet I guess this would do.

I tried the Gyro special with fries and soda for $ 9. Excellent! Good size/big portion, well cooked crinkle fries, and the gyro meat was surprisingly good. I’ll be back again! Good basic food, a nice lunch spot.

Business is sketchy. Food is good. Their flyer offers $ 5 all gyros on thursdays, but when I called it in they guy said it’s only for their sandwich. False advertising. Food was delivered on time. But they didn’t give me the can of coke. Fries are nothing spectacular, but the gyros is great if you don’t eat the soggy pita. I wouldn’t go back except they’re one of the few establishments that offer a gyros platter.

First heard of this place when a menu was left on my door and decided to give it a shot since they delivered and it was too cold for me to want to go outside. Delivery time was a reasonable one, it wasn’t fast but don’t feel like I waited forever. I was not expecting much but I loved the Greek chicken!!! The chicken breast was so tender, juicy and flavorful and oven brown potatoes were perfect! Craving some as I write this… The second time I ordered from here I wanted to try the chicken gyro and it was just okay, I would be willing to try again though. Will definitely be getting the Greek chicken again and trying more things in the future!

Tried the crab cake sandwich. So different and tasty. You don’t get one of those everywhere ! :) Definitely worth a try ! This place has been around for a while apparently, they also have online ordering on their website as well as grub hub is what the owner told me. I would definitely go back and order from them as well. Hopefully the good service and quality of food is constant.

So I ended up talking to the manager and he apologized for the service and said it should’ve never happened. I tacked on another star for his effort to maintain customer base and for his courtesy. I will write a review update should I decide to eat there again. — - — below is my review of the events: Service: — The guy who answered the phone couldn’t tell me the difference between a chicken gyro and the chicken souvlaki and had to ‘ask the chef.’ — Took about 75 minutes from the minute I hung up to get my delivery. I called after 60 and they said, «driver is on his way, should be there in a few minutes» Did not happen. — When he finally came, the delivery guy said he was waiting at another door because they wrote the wrong number. and they didn’t write my telephone number on the check for him. Um… Delivery rules #1!!! — They forgot my drink. Food: — Chicken gyro: Was actually pretty good – the chicken, anyway. Super soft and juicy and slight flavor, not too overpowering. Almost didn’t taste like chicken. The pita was really soggy, though. No way they make them in-house, though, too perfect shaped. There was way too much lettuce, and maybe a slice(like 1⁄8) of tomato and a couple slivers of onion bunched together in a corner of my gyro. — French fries: I do not recall ordering them«Extra soggy and salt-less» well, that’s how I got them. I only ate one. And I am FRYQUEEN… I eat all vegetables shaped into fries or chips and deep fried. This was just plain inedible. — Chocolate Mousse Cake: When I ordered this, they were like, «ummm…let me check… do we have chocolate cake?» he comes back like, «Yea, we have chocolate cake, not what you said.» Dur… it says chocolate mousse cake on your menu, so I asked if you had chocolate mousse cake. It was OK. Cake was dry, mousse part was good. Chocolate shavings on top were pretty much gone from the transition into the box I assume. Smallest piece of cake every for almost $ 4. Price: I guess it’s relatively cheap. Except the cake. don’t get the cake. Actually… even though it’s cheap, just don’t come here at all. It’s not worth your anticipation OR disappointment… I may come back one more time for another chance, definitely not getting delivery though.

When my husband and I used to live near the area, we always ordered the Athens Gyros Sandwich(beef and lamb gyros served on Greek pita bread with onions, tomatoes, and the tzatziki sauce) and the Greek Chicken Souvlaki sandwich(marinated chicken breast served on Greek pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, feta cheese, and a creamy oil vinegar dressing). While the gyro meat is very minimal and sliced very thinly, it was still pretty decent as it’s carved. The chicken souvlaki is actually very juicy and the creamy vinegar dressing makes it even more special. The only off-putting thing about this place is that they do not adhere to their posted business hours as sometimes they can close unexpectedly or not open at all on some days. +chicken souvlaki +inconsistent restaurant hours

Athens is a great little basic Greek place. We get delivery from them a lot at work. Prices are good, food is always good, delivery is timely. They have a lemon chicken soup that is SOGOOD. My only wish is that soups and salads would come with a side of pita bread instead of saltine crackers. overall, great lunch place!

I disregarded the negative reviews and shouldn’t have. I ordered a salad(delivery) and the salad was wet. I also ordered their«Athens Pies» which were so awful I couldn’t eat. They tastes like they had been sitting in a pan of butter and soaking. The lamb within my sandwich was pretty good and the only reason I’m giving them 2 stars.(The delivery was quick too)

Perhaps dining at this place would be a more successful experience. I ordered delivery. The calamari was good. But the moussaka was very very strange. It is hands down the worst moussaka I’ve ever tasted. The stuff you can get in the refrigerated section at Balducci’s and Whole Foods was better than this moussaka. Would never order from here again.

ABSOLUTELYVILE! DONOTORDERFROMHERE! I have eaten here a couple times, food isn’t bad but not the best… I really don’t expect much from this restaurant. That being said, today I ordered the same thing I have previously eaten– the chicken souvlaki sandwich. However, what was delivered did not resemble chicken, more like a piece of brown rubber, and tasted like a foot. I called the restaurant to ask they remake the dish, which provoked a lot of hostility from the man taking my order… even though I was already treated badly, i was fully prepared to retip the driver for the inconvenience. However the man who delivered the«new» sandwich was extremely rude and told me I was crazy b/c he himself makes the food and that the rubber-like mystery meat he brought me again was in fact chicken and I better deal with it. 1. I’m pretty sure we all know what chicken looks like(this was not it) and 2. I’ve eaten here before– and this definitely was not the same sandwich. I’ve worked in restaurants, and I know mistakes happen… so I’m usually pretty chill during these situations. However, I have NEVER been treated so badly and still cannot believe what transpired. Please do not waste your time eating here– absolutely awful food and awful service! Really disappointing…

DONOTORDERDELIVERYFROMTHISPLACEBECAUSEYOUMAYNEVERSEEIT! If you get delivery(it ONLY took 90 minutes to get my pizza) you will need to do the following: a) Cook it. It arrives cold and looks like they baked it for 5 minutes tops. b) Ad something to it — you know to give it flavor — which it totally lacks! c) Ad the topping they forgot! I did call — twice — to check on the status of delivering my order(and I live like 2 blocks away from this place so yes it would have been better to do pick up). The owner lied both times claiming the delivery person was«on his way» and would arrive within 5 minutes which turned out to be much more than that — both times. Finally when I called the third time — someone showed up 6 minutes past the time I was told he would arrive by. He did profusely apologize and explained they were very backed up and under staffed to which I asked why they answered the phone and took the order in the first place! I did ask for a refund which was only given just now — 24 hours later even though i was promised by the driver that the owner would call me right away. The only reason i think i got a refund is because I threatened to write a review on Unilocal unless he did so. Well guess what — that offer ended last night buddy when you failed to call! So bottom line — do not do delivery with the place period!

Looks like this restaurant changed owners again. The gyro was still pretty good, but I can’t give it the #1 gyro title anymore. The tziziki sauce was a little runnier than I like and the gyro meat didn’t have the«I just shaved it off the big slab of meat crispness.» I’ll have to give it another try. Usually I like a little«hometown charm»(AKA«no fuss décor») that the dining area had when it was first built 15 years ago, but now it feels a little run down. If you are a big eater, a new plus is that per sandwich you get a lot more gyro meat!

I drive by this place all the time, and wanted to try it but was a little wary since it looks like a hole in the wall. But after a neighbor said she likes it, and after reading some Unilocal reviews — I thought I’d give it a try. I walked in and could smell the hookah smoke from upstairs, but the place to order was downstairs in a separate room. The 2 young guys working there were nice. The place was tiny, but clean, and there was a TV that had sports on. The paper menu was very well done and I think that made me feel a little better about ordering. So I ordered the Greek Chef Salad(cause I had to try the gyro meat). The salad was pretty basic — iceberg lettuce, tomato, green pepper, feta cheese, gyro meat and 2 kinds of dressing(I asked for no pepperonchinis — sp?) I agree with another reviewer that the meat is sliced way too thin and is very greasy, and I thought there weren’t enough tomato slices in the salad — but overall it was ok. I kinda wished they served bread with the salad though. But I’ll give it another try since I hear their pizza is definitely worth a try.

I love coming here for lunch. They are quick and the food is great. Best of all it is within walking distance of my office and I usually need to walk after I eat here. Though I normally go for the souvlaki or gyro, I decided to change it up and go for the mousaka — The proportion was more than adequate and the flavor fantastic. The bechamel cream and tomato base is some of the best I’ve had in the area. The green beans that they serve with it are cooked well — not mushy and overcooked. I like it so much — I could almost eat here every day(but then I wouldn’t fit into my clothes anymore unless I walked around the block 3 or 4 times after eating). If your in the area — go here, you won’t regret it!

As far as Greek food in the Alexandria area goes, Athens is one of the better restaurants. The gyro meat is cooked well, but very greasy, cut far too thin, and lacking flavor. The tzatziki had a grainy texture and was far thinner than it should have been, although the taste was right on. Overall, the meal wasn’t bad. It was far better than what some places try to pass off as authentic Greek food. While the seating area is small — it definitely caters more to the take out crowd — it’s comfortable and has a pleasant atmosphere. Since the pizza has gotten such good reviews I will definitely be trying that at some point.
