I can understand why there’s some negative reviews bc I work in a restaurant myself. But my visit to this place is beyond wonderful. Burger is so juicy! & the onion rings, oh boy. Best onion rings beating competition of Allllll surrounding cities. Anywho staff is excellent and the food, AMAZING :) I’ll be back!

Small place with some indoor and some outdoor seating where you can watch your food being cooked on the bbq. The food is very good and definitely made to order. Because it is personally cooked for each order there is a little bit of a wait time for your food. The burgers are great… and so are the fries. Sitting inside can be a bit noisy so we always try and get an outside table if possible. Also in the summer there was no A/C inside which made it pretty uncomfortable but we found a table outside which was still pretty warm but not too bad in the shade of the umbrellas. We have stopped here a couple of times and have been pleased each time. Will stop again on our next trip through town.

We stopped here on the way up to Yosemite. I ordered a turkey burger with a side of tater tots and it cost me over $ 10! The burger was fine, but it took over 20 minutes to arrive. Also, I ordered it without onions or pickles, and it came with onions, but no tomato. I’m not sure how they got that wrong considering they wrote it all down on the order ticket. My friend got a tri tip sandwich which he said was decent but the meat was sliced too thin. Another friend got a pulled pork sandwich which she said was okay, if a bit pricey and the portion size too small. Apparently they have cheaper prices for the high school students just down the way, but I’m not sure how any student can afford to dine on the fast food servings of this place. Too expensive for the quality and quantity of food as well as the speed of service! They have outdoor seating, but it smells like cow outside.

what i ordered… smoked tri-tip bbq sandwich w/coleslaw. …passed by at this place a lot of times, and alway’s wanted to check ‘em out because of those cheerful kids holding ‘em advertising boards at the sidewalk… sandwich was ok, even though it was pricey they put a lot of ‘em good bbq’ed meats but the lowdown was that the bread they use seem’s funky… it was a torpedo roll that mimic a dinner bun and bbq sauce was so minimal. coleslaw was just plain sucky… so bland! ambiance… bad(dirty, unless you sit at the patio) service… good(they’re happy to have you as customer) cost… $$-

Oh god, this place is the WORST. Do not eat here. My boyfriend and I waited 55 minutes for a grilled chicken wrap and a steak sandwich. Both were BAD. Straight up bad. If the food wasn’t bad enough, we were treated to a performance of terrible manners, having to watch the manager berate her employees and yell in a nasal pitch at them during the entire 55 minutes. Admittedly, her staff were completely disorganized and incompetent, but there’s not much motivation to perform to high standards when your unpleasant and classless boss is yelling in your face right in front of waiting customers. That lady needs some anger management classes. We left with bad indigestion and in a really bad mood from what we were forced to witness.

The place was very fun! The tri-tip sandwich was amazing! I liked their wings, but only get the BBQ one, the spicy one was too Asian. Note, I’m Asian and I know for a fact they use sriracha as their hot sauce, it is good, but I am going to a BBQ place for BBQ food, not Asian food. I only went there because I saw the BBQ sign on the corner carried by a very beautiful skinny girl, but after going there, I know I will go there every time I go camping. This is the place to stop when you visit Yosemite.

Not a bad place. It’s pretty small, staff was friendly to my group, kinda pricey but the food was really good. I’d eat here again.

Drove by many times to and from backpacking trips. Stopped by on the way back home recently. Hungy for a big meal of BBQ really when we saw the BBQ sign on the corner carried by a girl. This town is a cowboy town sorta. Cowboys were outside on their horses. A cowboy store in the area competes the vibe. Easy parking right in front. Noticed the cordoned off area outside when we got off the car. Apparently it’s only for the specials on the menu. Meaning when you go for the specials you can sit outside in that cordoned off area:) unfortunately the special wasn’t anything bbq’d :(so off we sat inside. I’m all about the baby back ribs. So Adam and I went for a fulll rack each. Long story short. The $ 17.95 full rack with fries and salad was worth it. Meat was falling of the bones. Awesome sauce. Not too wet just like the way I like it. Ken wet for the full rack too and Greg went for their burger with cheese fries and a coke. Total was $ 15.20. $ 7.95 Burger. $ 4.25 cheese fries. $ 3 coke. So get the BBQ it’s worth your $$$. Now I was reading the reviews while waiting for our meal. To be fair to Tharps I’ve been to a BBQ place in the Mono area and was charged $ 20+ for a mediocre baby back ribs. Can’t compare that slab of sorry meat to Tharps. It was pathetic! Here the salad was very good. The fries was fresh and was very pleased with the portion. The bbr was HUGE! Score! Fast service. Friendy staff. Organized and clean. Check out their huge menu board. Interesting stuff! My gripe was the $ 3 soda. Wth? So do not order the soda here.

Overpriced. I ordered a bacon cheese burger, small fry and an iced tea and the bill was over $ 14.00! And you don’t even get waited on. Order at the counter and they bring it to you. Won’t go back again.

We stopped on the way home from vacation because we saw all the signs when we drove past the week before. I agree with others that the prices were a bit high. To pay $ 6.95 for a hot dog I expected to see at least some chips on the side. The soda was warm and the ice melted pretty fast. My daughter had a plain hot dog, my husband had a BBQ Cheeseburger and I had the best tri tip sandwich ever, no cheese and no jalapenos. It was very simple but not a trace of fat. It was so good we are going to take a day trip and for a sandwich again soon because I keep thinking about that sandwich. They were very friendly but very busy, we waited 20 mins for lunch.

My husband and I just had what may be the worst meal in the history of the world at the Diggity Grill. It was overpriced: a polish/fries/soda and an almost meatless tri-tip sandwich/fries/beer were over $ 27.00! Had the food been good, the price might not have bothered us, but the polish was bland with COLD and tasteless sauerkraut inside a nasty oversized white pasty bun. The tri-tip had so little meat it was difficult to understand how you could justify calling it a tri-tip sandwich and was on an equally disgusting bun. Your fries were excellent however. We live in Escalon and are remodeling our home so need a place to eat lunch each day. We will divide our time among Shorty’s and Leonardo’s Café in the future.

My boyfriend and I came here on a late Monday afternoon. Only about three people in the restaurant, so the service was fast. I ordered the Tri-tip Philly Cheesesteak served with french fries and my boyfriend ordered the Tri-tip BBQ sandwich served with coleslaw. My sandwich was okay, but a little dry — adding their BBQ sauce definitely helped. Their fries were yummy, crisp, and fresh. The BBQ Tri-tip sandwich was incredible!!!

Diggity’s is okay. I have had hit and miss experiences. Eating there, the service is slow, but we usually get take out. The dining room inside is pretty small, with one patio upstairs and a patio outside. If you have a bunch of kids, or are in a hurry, I might not recommend this place. The seating would be awkward. They serve several types of beer, including Sierra Nevada. I have never had bad service there, the servers have always been friendly. One time I went there and they were short staffed and they gave us complimentary food. We hadn’t even complained! The best food I have ordered has been the tri tip sandwich, onion rings, and chicken wings(the buffalo sauce is extremely spicy, but they also have a honey bbq sauce). Not the place to go if you are on a diet though! I have ordered some burgers there that have only been so-so. I think it is just a matter of finding the right item on the menu. There aren’t tons of options if you are driving through Escalon or want some quick local takeout, so if you are looking for this type of food, give it a shot.

Stopped in our tracks by the lovely smelling grill smoke while driving back from Yosemite — it suddenly became dinner time. Three of us split two orders of ribs and devoured a whole lot of really good ribs. Cooked well — falling apart, yet still had some texture. Good smoky flavor and a sweet, but not overpowering sauce that let the rib meat flavor through. Cole slaw was good too! Very friendly staff. All in all very worthwhile stop. We’ll do it again!

My husband and I stopped by this place for lunch on our way back from a camping trip in Stanislaus, it’s conveniently on 120. We wanted to stretch our legs from the car and eat but not add too much time to our trip. In the mood for something simple, we both went for a burger and fries… he got the Western combo, I got the veggie burger combo(a classic Gardenburger) with some pepper jack, total bill about $ 17. We sat outside, it was warm but the shade from the umbrella was lovely with my iced tea. My husband’s burger looked like like a Carl’s Jr burger in the commercials(as opposed to the sorry state in real life). I liked the friendliness of the staff, the fact that our lunch was cooked to order, and that it was delicious. We were positively too full for anything else, but the ice cream looked tempting. They have beer, too, Heineken and Sierra Nevada among the options! We’ll certainly stop there again, Stanislaus and Yosemite are still calling.

Stopped here after reading all of their signs around town. Food was mediocre at best, although in their defense we only bought burgers. They were the frozen hocky pucks. Not good at all. Food was expensive too. I had their chilli burger and the chilli was obviously some store bought generic crap. Wouldn’t eat here or recommed it.

Driving through Escalon to Oakdale I stopped because of all the garage-sale style signs and thought it might be good since they put so much time and money into signs and flags, but no. It was nothing special and sort of pricey for a hamburger joint. Staff was not rude but not helpful and took a long time!

I was putting off eating here for a long time because i was afraid of being disappointed like always. I was pleasantly surprised by the quick service. I got a chili cheese hot dog which although a little on the pricey side was delicious. It was empty when we arrived except for the young lady watching the wendy williams show on the t.v. thats in the dining area? weird but whatev! Good food!

I really hate to rate a hometown place so poorly but Diggity Grill deserves it. The food is pricey & disappointing. The service is unfriendly and extremely slow. It shouldn’t take 20 – 30 minutes or cost $$ to get a hot-dog.
