Everyone talks about the burgers(and they are indeed awesome) but keep in mind, they also serve a world class diner style breakfast… walk in, sit down start with a cup of joe and order two eggs, over medium, hash browns and bacon… and your choice of toast! Classic and delicious… I live about 15 minutes away in Riverbank and it is the only place we go for Saturday/Sunday morning breakfast! and the service is exceptional… you feel you are family!

Lovely find! On your way from SFTO Yosemite, great spot for a quick and delicious bite and rest before hitting the mountains. Great veggie burger ;) super friendly owners and staff and very lovely to our dog, who was traveling with us. Stop here on your next trip!

I was on a retreat in Oakdale, which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so Hula’s was the closest place to grab a quick bite. Hula’s only offers outdoor seating, so after you order at the window, you can either eat in their shaded patio area or take your order to-go(which is what my friends and I did). Considering it was over 100 degrees outside, the water mist that they were spraying outside was much appreciated. They even have a bowl of food and water for your four-legged friends! Once your order is ready, the worker brings it out to you. The service wasn’t outstanding, but definitely wasn’t terrible. Now onto the food: the philly cheesesteak was as dry as the weather… it also severely lacked veggies and seasoning. The beer-battered onion rings were even more disappointing, as they were soggy and not at all crispy like I had envisioned. Hula’s was in the 1 to 2-star zone until I tried my friends’ fries(garlic fries and sweet potato fries). I instantly regretted not ordering these. They were really yummy, perfectly crispy, yet soft, and came in huge portions. I would only ever come back if I was nearby and craving some fries. I’ll take a hard pass on their sandwiches and consider ordering a burger if I’m ever in the area again.

I was served ice cream from here 4 years ago after buying it for my 4 dogs, myself, and my mother. I got it all home and started to eat mine when I noticed it was causing my mouth and tongue to tingle and didn’t taste right. My mom said the same thing about hers and my dogs wouldn’t touch it either! My mom is in the medical field and said that the ice cream had gone bad. I subsequently took them back and told them that it was bad. The owner took some out of the machine and said it was fine. The young girl working there also tasted it and told me and the manager that it was indeed bad! She was going to refund my money until the owner overheard her and refused to give my money back or offer to replace it with good ice cream at a later time! I haven’t been there since and will never go back because of the owners behavior toward the problem and his refusal to refund my money or make good on another offer! His inability to treat his customers with respect and stand behind the food he is serving, I will continue to warn anyone who’s thinking of eating there to think again! I can attest that there is no hidden agenda! This did in fact happen and I have family that was there with me! You tasted the ice cream personally and rudely said there was nothing wrong with it and then your employee tasted it and agreed that it was in fact tainted! She was extremely cordial and even apologized for your behavior! As I stated my mom is in the medical field and said the same thing I did, that there was something wrong with your ice cream! We even suggested that you refrain from continuing to sell it before you made someone Ill! I have never been treated so badly in an establishment before in my life! We threw the ice cream away and told you we would never be back and we haven’t been! And now with your rude comment basically calling me a liar and saying I have some sort of hidden agenda I guarantee that everyone I know will refrain from patronizing your establishment! I stated only true facts and it’s not my problem you have memory issues or are just so rude on a consistent basis that you fail to recall this particular incident! It is my hope that you would learn from your mistakes and not repeat them! I just pray your health and food safety policies have changed and that it doesn’t take someone getting food poison from your food before you take proper steps to make your food safe and change your attitude before it chases off more potential customers!

This is definitely the place to stop for lunch or dinner if you’re driving through town on way back from Yosemite. Boyfriend has been stopping here for years but yesterday was my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised. You pay about $ 8 per sandwich, burger, or hot dog, but the quality of the food and portion size make it worth it! He had a teriyaki burger(perfectly cooked, huge portion size) with side of fries that were great. I had a hot link that came on super soft French roll and the link was delicious. Side salad was fine. Dining inside and outside and service very friendly and they stopped by twice to make sure we were satisfied with our food. I will keep coming back here and highly recommend to anyone travelling through town!

The service is the charm every time! Breakfast is my thing and it never disappoints. When I called to order in advance Alexis always knows what I want, makes sure everything is done right! Appreciate the service she brings to the place!

I admit I was reluctant to stop – Hula’s is in a strip mall in a small town en route to bigger cities. Would they have disappointing and bland food due to the limited competition? My fears were unfounded. Lo and behold, this is a fantastic place to stop! Gigantic juicy burgers(I got the guacamole and chiles and DH got pineapple burger), the best POG(passionfruit, orange, and guava juice), garlic fries(woohoo, super garlicky!), beer battered onion rings and 805 beer on tap! Our kids got quesadillas and a hot dog. Plus there’s an outdoor patio so we didn’t have to take turns eating since we bring our 80 pound dog on road trips with us. Service was friendly and helpful and the food was awesome. We plan to return!

Great place for milk shakes, burgers, and fries. A big selection on the menu to pick from including milkshakes, burgers, and salads. Taste of the food was terrific. The place itself is small but great seats outside for more seats. I hope they have an A/C there because it will get hot in the spring and summer time but when we were there it was hot inside. A must try is the milkshake and chili chesse fries. Also, you get a free ice cream at the end of your meal to top you over. We will be back.

Well I came back to Hulas with a Buddy of mine after some horrible service last week. Only because there isn’t much to choose from in the little town of Escalon. We sat outside again. Was greeted with menus by the server. Drinks ordered and received. Food ordered and received in a timely manner. Service was much better. I ordered the Philly Cheese steak sandwich with fry’s. I wanted no onion or peppers… when the sandwich came out it had about 2 ounces of meat and cheese and the cheese wasn’t even melted. $ 11 for fry’s and a french roll… man I’m frustrated because I want to love this place… I’ve been numerous times… prices are on the high side but the food for the most part is average to bellow average. I’m sure I will get a response from Tony… but I don’t want to hear how prices of meat have gone up, and that it should be ok because we get a complimentary spoon of Ice cream… Dude…you have a prime location! A great little joint! Buckle down on your service and quality. For $ 11.00 that Philly Cheese Steak should have been stuffed with meat and melted cheese!

I don’t know what people find so great about this place. The patties are tasteless pre made things, the prices are way too high for what you get. Hold on a little longer and stop at In N out a little further down 120. Hell even Wendy’s burgers have more flavor. I went twice to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, and both times I left frustrated and wondering why I just wasted $ 11.00.

Hubby and I have driven past Hulas from Oakdale for years and regret not stopping here earlier. Today we finally stopped! Ordered the teriyaki burger and sweet potato fries which were finger licking good. The COLD Sierra Nevada made this meals ending memorable. I ordered a milkshake, it was«eh». I may have been expecting an In and Out milkshake but that may be a whole new set of milkshake standards in itself. Overall we rate this little burger and everything else stop a 4 of 5. Excellent customer service in which we are big on and for preserving the classic tasting wholesome American meal that so many fast foods do not have a clue on.

Finally went here for a late lunch to try their burgers. Had the pineapple teriyaki burger with sweet potato fries. Burger was huge and very good, sweet potato fries were crispy and hot. Owner was there and was very friendly. Clean and safe place to go right off the highway and they have a drive thru where you can call in before pick up. Came with a complementary soft serve which hit the spot because I would have exploded if I had anymore food. My husband had garlic fries which were good as well. I would recommend to at least try the place as prices are reasonable for what you get. Will be going back for sure!

Hula’s is a love poem forever written on the side of Highway 120. Everytime I come to Hula’s, which isn’t very often. The staff greet me by name as if I come in every single day. The milkshakes here are nothing short of godsends that bless my tastebuds and give me an insurmountable joy the likes of which I couldn’t begin to describe I’ve had the burger, the salad, and the breakfast and have yet to have anything but a delicious meal from this place. I’m a small guy, but Hula’s makes me wish I was obese so I can stuff my face with more food from there. Eat here. You won’t regret it.

Amazing offerings and service! Indoor and outdoor seating. Indoors has sports on the tube and a cozy hometown feel inside. Outdoors are no frills patio seating. Thick cut onion rings! + Milkshakes were so good — I got a coffee, butter scotch, Oreo, shake. One of the best I’ve ever had. Burgers were tasty– tried the knock out– good burger. Surprise hit: the fish and chips. The fish was so tasty. Again thanks for the tremendous service! Great dinner after a long camp out!

Went on one of those quintessential hot summer days in the valley. The patio is nice because it’s covered, shady, you can bring your dog and you can catch the residual breeze and petrol fumes from the constant passing of produce trucks carrying tomatoes to the nearby processing plants. Service is fast. I inquired about the fish sandwich on the menu and the server said she had to ask and returned promptly to give me not much more information than what we started with. Onions Rings $ 3.69 | The onion rings are delicious! Beer battered rings of hot molten oil to be dipped into tiny cups of ranch dressing. Fish sandwich $ 7.99 | I anticipated an old-school diner style fish sandwich; fried filet-o-fish patty so incredibly satisfying that the tartar sauce plops all over your perfectly executed garlic fries. Except that the fish sandwich was a lightly breadcrumb coated fresh filet sandwiched between a french roll and had absolutely NO tartar sauce or even mayonnaise on it. By the time I reached the second half of the large-ish sandwich, my bread was soaked with produce water and I had to chuck it. My fries were super soggy and someone suggested it was because of the garlic oil applied. But, I tasted someone else’s fries sans garlic oil and they were just as limp. And at the end of it all… they give you complimentary tiny cups of half/half soft served ice cream.

Typical burger joint. Lots of burger options, can’t say it was anything special. I ordered the cowboy burger(bacon, BBQ sauce) and the chili fries. The chili was bland, like they took canned bean chili and put chunks of a charred burger in it, Burger was overcooked of bit and WAY too much BBQ sauce. Only stopped because I always see it when I pass through. Would rather hit in n out in Manteca on my way through instead.

Hula’s seduced me with its signs for«greatest burgers ever» on my drive from Yosemite back to San Francisco. See, I had my heart set on In ‘N Out, but after a grueling drive and flight over Yosemite in Jamestown(oh yeah), I didn’t have the 30 minute patience required. I also rationalized and said: «okay, you can always try In ‘n Out» and did a U-turn after looking up Hula’s Unilocal reviews at a traffic light and ordered the amazing Knockout Burger. I paid an extra $ 1 for more meat because I was ravenously hungry. Not more than 10 minutes later, my burger was brought to me with some fries. Hula’s has both indoor and outdoor seating and you order up at the counter. I chose to sit indoors in the AC since wasps were stalking some folks outside(and I’m a total scaredy cat when it comes to those stinging insects). The burger was incredible! The bun, amazingly ripe avocado and the meat cooked to medium; along with jalapenos it was so damn fulfilling. I stuffed myself finishing up the fries and the staff brought me a little surprise of ice cream with my bill! That was so sweet, unexpected and earned them that 5th star. Definitely don’t hesitate to stop in here for an incredible burger. The staff is so sweet and the food is fantastic!

We returned a week later and were disappointed. Quality control is clearly an issue here. The knockout burger was made differently the second time and not nearly as good as it was the first time. The first time the burger had fresh green leaf lettuce the second time it was ice burg lettuce that was mainly the core it was almost all white. The tomatoes were mushy and the pieces that were on the burgers were all ends that should have been thrown away. The jalapeños instead of being fresh slices look like they had been cooked and had burnt pieces on them. Although they say they serve breakfast all day it may depend on who is cooking as to weather or not you receive a freshly made plate of food. The first time the scrambled eggs were cooked correctly and the waffle was crisp and fresh as was the bacon. The second time the scrambled egg was brown, over cooked and looked like it had been cooked on a filthy griddle. The waffle had clearly been cooked earlier and had been microwaved or something before being served. It was overly hot, soft and spongy and the bacon was cold. They did give a small discount on the breakfast plate as that was the only thing we complained about. It’s a 25 mile drive from our home and we drove back because it was so exceptional the first time. We may return one more time to see if the last visit was fluke.
