The customer service is excellent! They were very honest and nice to us. We didn’t have to wait long for our food to come out and they even gave us a variety of sauces when dining in! I would most def. come here again. Such a nice place.

The owners of this small place are really nice. The fried fish and calamari are awesome! My family ordered the 9 piece fish meal and the owners divided the meal into 4 baskets. Two baskets had 3 pieces and some fries and the other two had 2 pieces but more fries than the other two. Then we put 3 calamari in each basket. How many calamari were there total? (Here is your easy math problem, have fun) In conclusion, awesome food and service.

I went here with my husband on a Friday night. He likes fish, I don’t so take that how you want to. The restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. My husband ordered fish and chips and I ordered chicken and chips. We also ordered fried zucchini. My husband enjoyed his fish and the fried zucchini was great. You could tell it was fresh made and not frozen in any way. I recommended this side. The fries were really tasty. Much better than I anticipated. The real downside to this meal was my chicken. It was good technically, but was clearly a frozen chicken strip. I was really expecting hand battered chicken more similar to the fish. Especially considering the price ($ 8.99 for 2 strips) this was a huge let down.

I have eaten here many times and this place is good, the tartar sauce is really good and the fish is very tasty, I come here at least twice a month to get my deep fried fish and calamari. I recommend.

I came here w/​my wife on a very busy friday night… was greeted kindly and was informed on what items were unavailable and how long it would take to receive our order… We ordered the 3 piece fish combo, seafood sampler, hushpuppies and clam chowder… Our food wait time was roughly 20 min… The best part of our meal was the clam chowder, it was delicious… we never had great clam chowder ever since Splash Café in Pismo Beach ( Unilocal this place)… we would solely come back here for the clam chowder… the fish was good, but after my 2^nd piece i started feeling a little sick due to the oil… i guess i cant take so much fried food anymore… when I do come back, ill definitely get the clam chowder & the one piece (not 3) fish combo … till next time ocean fish & chips…

Delicious! First time visiting Ocean Fish n Chips, and was not disappointed! There is a lack of good fish n chips places in EG and S. Sac; well probably all of Sacramento. This place is the savior ;)
This place has been here for 17 years, that’s saying something. I don’t believe any restaurant, even more so fish and chips, could stay in business so long unless they produce quality food consistently.
The batter was not overwhelming on any of the food. It was crispy and tasty on the fish and on the chicken. I never experienced a bite that ended with pockets of grease. Each bite and piece were crispy and delicious. The fries were not saturated in oil either. Even after sitting on the table, the fries were still very good.
The portions are decent and we plan on returning.

Ocean fish & chips is truly addicting!!! The fish is cooked fresh and is battered just right. I love a little vinegar on mine but thats all I need, no tartar for this guy but my girls love there tartar sauce. And if you love the vinegar they sell it by the bottle on the front counter. If you dont eat fish they have you covered with chicken strips that come with 3 large strips to a basket, they are absolutly perfect and I promise you will be back for more. There coleslaw is so good it has to be a homemade recipe, not sure what they season it with dont really care because it is so delicious. The food is top quality everytime. Family run and it shows because they are dedicated to the art of great food and great service.

Always amazingly delicious! Hands down the best fish and chips in our area! I can always count on friendly and quick service. If you have not stopped by to check this place out its a must! Also the coleslaw is so tasty. Highly recommend!!!

I ate lunch today for the first time at Ocean Fish & Chips. It was pretty good. The batter on the fish was tasty with good flavor. The fish and fries weren’t greasy either. My only complaint is that when I was leaving I wanted to put a lid on my drink for in the car and didn’t see any lids out. I wonder if that is their way to discourage people from getting a refil for the road?

Upon entering you are greeted with a rushing aroma of deliciousness. The décor is quaint and feels nostalgic of a little seafood hut by the beach. Unfortunately we arrived 20 minutes before closing, so we did take out.
I ordered the 3 piece fish and my wife had the 3 piece chicken. The food was out quickly and the prices were very reasonable. The young gentleman gave us extra chicken too.
The portion size was very generous. The batter was perfect; not too light to hold vinegar, but not heavy either. It was perfect. Their tartar sauce was very good, we didn’t even crack into our favorite one as what came was superior. The fish and chicken was perfectly cooked. Fish light flakey and moist. The chicken moist and delicious.
Highly recommend. We will definitely return to dine in and do take out again.

What a popular little spot. Found this place through Unilocal since its lent season. I needed a place that had seafood and I didn’t feel like sushi. This place was easy to find and even though it was very busy, there is alot of parking spots. The line was a bit long but moved very quickly. Wait time was a bit long but that’s understandable because it lent, dinner rush hour and it’s Friday.
I order the 2 piece fish, shrimp basket, Cole slaw, and some hush puppies as a to go order. They packed everything nicely and packed the food nicely for me to take home.
Everything was so delicious! Fries were still warm when I got home. Fish was tender and crispy. Shrimp was crunchy and they gave me plenty of condiments. Will definitely return.

I think I just had the best hush puppies ever. The fish was spot-​on, the prawns were crispy and the oysters might have been my favorite part. The fries were a bit of an after thought but they complimented everything nicely.
Elk Grove could have used a place like this 30 years ago!

I think this is really the only true fish and chips place in Elk Grove and I think they do a really good job. The fish is always fresh and the portion sizes are nice; The pieces of fish are large and the owners do not skimp on the french fries which are always hot and fresh. This is a little Ma and Pa kind of restaurant where yes, it is a little run down and could use to updating, but in this case I almost feel as if it ads to the experience. This isn’t your typical franchise place that we are used to seeing in Elk Grove. This restaurant has been in business for a long time.
The restaurant is owned and operated by a couple and sometimes their son who all work very hard to keep things running smoothly. The owners are not the real talkative type who promote their business and talk to every customer individually, but he always smiles and brings the food out to you personally. I do not feel the customer service is lacking in the least.
The batter on the fish is a little greasy in my opinion and I don’t like that you have to pay for refills, but I think this is a nice local business that deserves promoting. And I feel that the food is really really good! Give it a try!

This is one, if not my most, favorite place to get fish or seafood during Lent. My favorite meal is the prawn basket (includes fries) and I get a piece of fish in the side. Call ahead your order — I usually call in my order when I leave to go there and never have to wait for my food.
Some days, I will order a bunch of pieces of fish and then place the fish on sandwich buns with some cheese, sautéed onions and lettuce.
I feel the price is very reasonable for the serving size and the quality of their food.

What a great first experience here at Ocean Fish & Chips. This place is located near Old Elk Grove closer to Elk Grove — Florin Rd. On the outside this place doesn’t look much but don’t let that scare you. We were driving down Elk Grove Blvd looking for a place to eat and we didn’t want food from a sit down and order restaurant so Ocean Fish & Chips is what we found. As we walked into the restaurant there are a few booths on the side along the windows and the counter is right there. We mentioned this was our first time here and the guy behind the counter was very helpful and friendly because he took his time to explain what was on the menu and the popular items that people order. He even told us if we wait a little while we can see how big the portions are since another customer’s food was about ready. All entrees come with fries but if you want an upgrade on the fries with another side it will cost a little extra. On the menu they have fish, shrimp, calamari, shrimp, and other seafood. We ordered a 2 piece fish and chips and 1 piece fish with 4 shrimps. It took about 5 to 10 min for our food to be ready and when it came out, it was hot and fresh and they gave us a little more than usual :) The fish was soft and moist on the inside and was fried just right while the shrimp was tasty and breaded well. They brought the food out to us with a bottle of tarter, cocktail, and ketchup sauce. I actually had some leftovers to take home to eat. We will certainly be back.

The food here … while high in calories … is delicious. I have frequented this spot for a number of years and have almost always enjoyed what I have ordered. The best reasonably priced fish and chips I have found in the area. Be it fish, calamari, oysters or prawns … they are all very tasty. Also, the French fries are just crispy enough. The chickens is also good but, when I come here, I generally focus on seafood. The place is rather small but there is some seating. We often go for the takeout option. Good value eating.

The restaurant has good food with a nice portion size. I have had better fish and chips elsewhere, but for the area I would rank this as one of the more better spots in comparison to its local competitors. Being a local I continue to go back to this restaurant when I crave fish and chips. The service is okay to good depending on who you get at the cashier. Usually the older gentleman is working the register and is straight to the point. On my last visit a younger gentlemen was working the register and was pleasant to deal with and had a personality.
Something to keep in mind when getting take out is to get extra tartar sauce. The cups of sauce provided in your bag are not full, so if your a fan of tartar sauce like I am be sure to ask for extra. It is worth the .25 cents.

Back for a second time. The food here is very good. Very fresh and the fish and prawns are crispy and tasty. The oil I mentioned was so much better and the windows are sparkling clean. I only wish the prawns were the next size for a larger prawn. (being in the biz I do understand food cost!) and wish they would clear the cluttered counter. But all in all a good place and good value for fish and chips!
