My best friend and I love to bike here and get moomoo and poke bowls and may I say, each time we get them they’re friggin BOMB! Although they did raise the price of the bowls since their initial opening it’s totally worth it. We get poke bowls at least once a month. Tonight visit included the macaron ice cream which is so good, and the portion size is so big. The ice cream macaron is very worth it(Unless your poke bowl fills you up, then just split the macaron with someone) Tonight’s trip also included a very good looking fellow… He was wearing a bright orange shirt and a black hat. I rate him a 5⁄5 as well. X)

I stopped by here after our trip in Reno this past weekend. First taking a step into the restaurant, I liked the décor. The workers were friendly as well. You go down the line and add whatever you want to your bowl. I chose a regular bowl which comes with 3 scoops of protein. My initial thought was the bowl was pretty small compared to some of the bowls they have in the South Bay. I got half brown rice and half salad. They had a good amount of options for protein, I went with scallops, salmon and yellowtail. For the sauce I went with ono spicy and shoyu, it went well with the fish but was slightly too salty for my taste. All the toppings are pretty much free besides avocado. I got green onions, cucumbers, masago, crab salad, edamame, wakame, ginger and some furikake on top. Overall the poke bowl was good, but portions seemed small for me. The crab salad was probably the most disappointing as it seemed dry and not as much mayo like some other crab salads. I would say that this is a 3 ½ star border line 4 star, but I felt the bowl seemed so small for the price point. It makes the actual poke bowl look a lot fuller than it really is in my opinion. Still a good place to get a quick sushi fix.

Love fresh poke. They described it to me as the«Chipotle» of Poke and it was true! They had delicious toppings that are included with the price. Had the original sauce with salmon. Will definitely come here again the next time I am in the area.

Tried this place for the first time last week and was quite pleased. Very fresh ingredients and the flavor was on point. I ordered spicy tuna and scallops atop rice and leafy greens with the spicy tako sauce. My wife also thoroughly enjoyed hers and we will definitely be back. Nicely done Hokee Poke!

4.5 stars total Been here about 4 times already and I can say(with hesitance), that I am a fan. I say that with hesitance because on my initial visit and on my current visit, I am greeted upon entry with a breeze smelling of pungent fish. Resultedly, since my first visit near grand opening and until now, I have doubted the freshness of food and cleanliness of this dining establishment. But now after coming here 4 times & after trying Make Fish once, my vote is for here. 3.5 stars for the place itself. The lack of 1.5 stars goes to the smell. I frequent places like Seafood City & those Asian grocery stores & that fish smell that ambushes my unarmed nostrils upon walk-in is distasteful, unappealing and may I suggest unavoidable. Recalling Make Fish I can’t smell fish at all. So why does Hokee Pokee smell like Aunt Flo is in town visiting & unpacked for the week? The place seats about 20 people. At maximum capacity, chairs, tables, elbow room, puff jackets and the winners of body building contest are a tight fit. I weigh under 110lbs on a strict guiltless carb-free week, but I still have to suck it in if I am getting up and walking between chairs to get napkins or need to hit up the potty. The place is decored in casual island type style and ordering food is set up Chipotle style. I truly wish the plastic protector that you may see in buffet lines that is created to protect the raw food from hair and anything that may eject from one’s facial orifices was more bigger and longer. I have seen the servers wipe their nose while waiting for me to decide on what I want. And it makes me wonder where does the speckles that fall out of their nose go? 4.5 stars for the food. So far, my food has tasted really good. I get the salmon/albacore/spicy tuna mix with a spicy sauce. I think it’s called the spicy ono. It’s super flavorful & has way more kick than Make Fish’s spicy sauce. I do want to give Make Fish another try, so keep that in mind. This place just happens to be closer to where my life’s happenings normally occur, plus it is a tad cheaper. All in all I like Hokee Poke is an okay place. And should I be asked to go eat there, I would. Get rid of the smell and I may raise the stars to 5.

I’m a big fan of sushi but I’d admit, I’ve only had poke a few times… but I have got to say, this place was pretty darn tasty. For a regular sized bowl($ 8.95), it was a good size to fill your tummy up(: I got called out for«eating a good amount for a girl»… You start with choosing if you’d like white rice, brown rice, salad, or a mix for the base. I got half salad and half brown rice. Next, you pick the 3 types of fish that you’d like, the choices being: ahi tuna, octopus, shrimp, tofu, spicy tuna, yellow tail, salmon, or scallops. I got the latter three which I was very excited about. I topped those with the Ono spicy sauce and the shoyu original, and completed my bowl with allll the toppings which included(but not limited to) seaweed salad, jalepenos, tobiko, spicy masago, imitation crab, onions, ginger, wasabi, etc… The bowl was pretty amazing, and they also sell Bön Mange macaron icecream sandwiches tooooo which looked amazing(sooo many flavors…) I have yet to try, but I’ll definitely be coming back!

THEBESTPOKEEVER!!! I’ve had a chance to enjoy poke a dozen times now and each at a different location. For a long time I had a favorite UNTILNOW… I don’t venture out to Elk Grove often but I’m starting to consider MOVING there just so I can be closer to my new fav! The place is super clean, modern and fresh in the décor. As soon as you walk in the flesh smells and soothing tropical colors start working wonders on the senses. And then the FOOD. WOW! I ordered a regular bowl which gave me the option of three proteins and I picked rice(boyfriend picked salad) and then loaded with an amazing variety of toppings. I wasn’t sure what to pick — EVERYTHINGLOOKEDSOGREAT! The lady behind the counter was very helpful and helped guide me to pick complimentary flavors. I picked the octopus(perfect little bite size pieces prepared just right), the spicy tuna and ahi tuna. I can’t tell you how much I just wanted to lick my bowl in public!!! I can’t wait to go back and take my foodie friends along!

I love the idea of picking and choosing my poke and ingredients but it is like going through a cafeteria line. It is just getting a bit too ‘run of the mill’ for me. I love raw fish. I love poke. But it gotta be absolutely fresh and top quality. Hokee Poke has value and when they prepare right in front of you it’s pretty damn good. But it is not Hawaiian style poke that you get only in Hawaii. It has to do with using the best and freshest fish and knowing exactly how much to make in a day and letting it run out before the end of the day. High turnover of product ensures freshness and quality. Go there on a Monday or whenever they get fresh fish and check it out.

Fish Face? Check. Banzai? Check. Make Fish? Check. Zuma Poke? Check. Hokee Poke? Check. Came to Hokee Poke for a post-workout dinner to-go. Got a bowl with 3 scoops of protein($ 10.50): salmon, yellowtail, and spicy tuna over brown rice, with smoky sesame sauce, edamame, masago, wakame, cucumber, crab salad, and sesame seeds. I like how you have the brown rice option for a base. Next time I may try the scallops too! The miso sauce also sounds intriguing. Toppings I skipped were jalapenos, green onion, sweet onion, avocado, habanero masago, macadamia nuts, and wasabi. If I’m really hungry next time I’ll try the combo meal, which is a regular poke bowl + chips + fountain drink. If you join their stampcard/rewards program with your phone number, you also receive text messages with deals to claim. A few days ago the deal was free miso soup with any combo meal, just because«we love our customers,» :) which expired 5⁄22. Located next to the Moo Moo and Dollar Tree.

My friend suggested this place for a late lunch. I think it’s still one of the only poke places in the area so of course, I had it bookmarked for some time and wanted to try it anyways. I got a regular bowl with white rice, yellowtail, ahi tuna, and salmon in the shoyu sauce. Very customizable so I also got it with the seaweed salad, crab salad, edemame beans, and cucumber. A good amount of fish and it tasted fresh. I wasn’t super hungry and ate about a third of it and saved the rest for later. Service was quick and they take credit cards. A little over $ 11 for a regular bowl. And they have the five star reward program — the first time I’ve seen it in Sac. If only it wasn’t so far from my parents place, I would be here every time I was in Sac.

I stopped in for a late morning snack necessitated by a very early breakfast. This is a small place, some seating but a lot of takeout I bet. A little hole in the wall in an older strip mall. But not bad. They specialize in poke bowls — regular(3 seafood selections) or large(5 selections). For a little more you can apparently order a meal and get chips and a soft drink. You order the bowls with your choice of rice or salad. I opted for the salad. Now they offer a wide variety of fish selections including ahi, yellow tail tuna, shrimp, octopus and scallops. I went for a small bowl with ahi, yellow tail and spicy tuna. Finally, you chose your sauce(e.g., miso) and a topping such as green onion or kami crap. They even have a spam option on the menu. All in all, a pretty good value for your money. The tuna was fresh and tasty. I might go back.

A perfect addition to the Elk Grove area. This Hokee Poke spot was bursting of flavors and great customer service. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was great and relaxing! Patrons have the choice to dine inside enjoying the light music playing in the background or outside enjoying the weather. Although the restaurant is small, the seating was very comfortable — there was plenty of area to move around. Service: We were greeted with a smile immediately once we walked in — a big plus! The staff was super patient and helpful as we were debating on our choice of protein, sauce, sides, etc. I did not feel rushed at all as they waited patiently for our selections. Base Selection: After selecting either a regular or large portion, you get the choice of rice, salad or chips. The salad were fresh spring mix and the chips were perfectly fried wonton wrappers. I recommend either the spring mix or the chips. Protein: Based on the size, you get a choice of 3 or 5 proteins. There were many to choose from! I always get the raw fish — yellowtail, salmon, spicy tuna, ahi tuna and scallops. Yes, fresh raw baby scallops was also an option! Sauces: I have tried ono spicy, creamy miso and orginal shoyu. My favorite is the ono spicy which is the most popular selection! You cant go wrong with any of the sauces. Toppings: Where do I start?! There are so many selections from seaweed salad to avocado to habanero masago. Watch out for the habanero masago — it’s a yummy kicker! I typically have them put all the toppings for me. Note: They have Gunther’s macaroon ice cream there! Overall, I am very impresses with the great service, fresh seafood and selections! I will definitely come back.

First post pregnancy meal? HOKEEPOKEE! Yes, I finally satisfied my sashimi cravings after a long 9 month wait! Hubby brought me a bowl filled with ample amount of cold tuna, salmon and other toppings embedded over a hot bowl of rice. Surprised to see very generous portions of protein and toppings. The fish was very fresh and definitely top notch quality. Hubby ordered the creamy miso sauce and it complimented well with the fish. Other toppings in my bowl included a huge scoop of crab meat, a good amount of seaweed salad, avocado and masago. Happy to see poke bowl establishment in the Elk Grove area! Would definitely recommend for others to try this place out. You’ll leave with a happy belly for sure!

After coming back from college in TX, I came home to Elk Grove’s first poke eatery! Hokee Poke is similar to that of chipotle-style where you choose your base: brown rice, white rice, salad or chips. Then you choose 3 scoops of fish: yellowtail, salmon, tuna, lobster($ 3 extra), shrimp, etc, then you choose your toppings and sauce. I had brown rice with salmon, tuna and yellow tail with spicy ono sauce because I favor spicy sauces, but I wasn’t too big of a fan. The poke is okay! I’ve had fish that is way fresher and the sauces weren’t super tasty IMO. I love poke from LA! It seems like they’ve got the sauces down and fresher fish. I wish poke-poke was here! I don’t think I’d come here often. It’s cheaper if I buy my own fish and make poke on my own considering they’ve raised the prices!

I arrived with 2 friends at around 1:00pm on a Sunday. There was no line, and plenty of seating(the crowd built a bit as we sat and ate). The food tasted very fresh and clean, and avocado is the only topping that costs extra to add to your bowl! Everything else, ranging from seaweed salad to kami crab to masago to furikake, is complimentary, landing in your bowl at no extra charge. MYBOWL I ordered a large with 3 scoops of salmon and 1 scoop each of ahi and yellowtail on top of brown rice. It was tossed with creamy miso and both types of onion(green and sweet), and topped with seaweed salad, kami crab, ginger, cucumber, edamame, masago, sesame seeds, and furikake. Two minor complaints:(1) the seaweed salad was too sweet and(2) I asked for a little bit of ginger and he still gave a whopping tong-ful(but no big — I just picked some out). Note: I give 5 stars to places that are the best of the best of what I’ve eaten, and will definitely remember — i.e. the food that I will tell all my friends about.

Friggin’ YUM… this can’t possibly be the same place I went to a few months ago! Just had the best(Nor Cal) poke bowl ever! Everything was on point! Ordered a tuna, yellowtail, and salmon poke with creamy miso over brown rice, crab, edamame, seaweed salad, and sesame seeds. It was only $ 10.50! How the… did I end up paying $ 13 before? Seems they’ve got a good handle on their rice now and the fish was chopped evenly. No bad after taste. A complete 360 from my first visit — putting them back on rotation.

I’ve been here multiple times already. But whoops forgot to review. All my experiences coming here have been great. The customer service is awesome: they’re all helpful, welcoming, and can make recommendations(at least during all my trips here). You pick your carbs from either white or brown rice, salad, or fried wonton chips. I’ve tried it with wonton chips and it’s not my favorite style because the chips get a bit soggy. So I always go with brown rice. You get three scoops of protein with a regular size bowl. My usual consists of shrimp, salmon, and ahi tuna. They have other kinds such as clams, scallops, spicy tuna, lobster(extra $ 3), and yellowtail. Pick your sauces, I usually get a mixture of sesame and the spicy Ono sauce. Then unlimited toppings! But extra imitation crab is an extra dollaaa. They also have two types of masago, regular and habanero(def has a kick to it) so beware. Then top it off with furikaki, macadamia nuts, and sesame seeds. ++ I love getting a side of chips and making my own nacho bites. Less soggy that way :)

SNAPCHATMETHATPOKEIFIT’S COO. My regular sized bowl consists of: — white rice [cus life is too short for nasty ass brown] — three different types of protein: salmon, yellowtail, and ahi tuna — their spicy sauce(ain’t spicy at all, sad face) mixed with soy sauce — all the topping fixings except for white onions and guac — yayo sprinkled on top, jk it was seaweed flakes Delicious and fulfilling as hell. I dunno how y’all do it with the large sized bowl. Anyway, loved every single bite of it. This was my first poke experience and even with take-out, it was still hella good. The gentleman that took care of me was helpful, patient, and generous as well so arigato(or ‘cam on’ if y’all viet-nam-ese). So if you like it raw, sushi, and Chipotle before the E. coli scare style food, look no further cus once you do the hokee poke and you turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about.

It’s like enough people wanted poke shops in sac, put it out into the universe, and then a bunch of poke shops opened up out of nowhere. I’m not complaining though, poke is amazing and so are you . I love hokee pokee and believe that 5 stars just isn’t enough to rate this place. It’s always busy so you know they’re doing everything right. I came in on a rainy evening and all seats were taken leaving me and my regular sized bowl outside in the rain to enjoy each other. You would think that it was depressing but to be honest, all the lovely flavors along with the beautifully colored toppings and fresh tasting fish created a party not just in my tummy but in my life too . I choose you, hokee pokee ! You’re my favorite. My only complaint would be the size of the bowls. When I tried mixing my creation together, everything fell out leaving me with no more $ 1 extra avocado cause it spilled :(.

This place was pretty good. I walked in when it first opened. There’s was no one at the order counter so it gave me a chance to glance over their selection of fish and toppings. A minute later a young man comes out of the back and greets me. I had three orders for regular size bowls. I had my co workers write the proteins and toppings they wanted on a post– it. So I showed it to the guy and and from there he started to fill my orders. I also checked in to get a free regular size soda and purchased another regular size soda. I asked for a menu but they didn’t have any because I guess the guy said that their menu slightly changed. Overall the guy had great customer service but he forgot to give me my cups for my drinks because he had another customer waiting. So as soon as he handed me my order, he quickly went to help the other customer. The poke bowls were really very tasty especially with the creamy miso dressing. I was told by the worker that they also added scallops as one of their proteins so that’s one of the proteins I ordered. My co workers were happy with their bowls too so we will definitely come back. I gave it only three stars this time because he forgot to give us our drinks. I called them about it and the lady told me that they will give me the drinks next time I order.
