They had excellent food, especially the deep fried Teri chicken! However, they closed up shop last August(2015) and are only cooking for catering jobs. We will truly miss them!

Super friendly service… No frills… The best hawaiian/local comfort food… Laulau is always good as is their signature Teri fried chicken and fried saimin… Mac salad is good– nothing in there that doesn’t belong in there… I always order everything cause I can’t make up my mind

Use to love this place at there old location. Decided to go back at there new location at eleele shopping center and food was a disappointment ordered the hamburger steak and there teri chicken… hamburger was really small and flat and gravy was bland… fried chicken was chewy and dry… probably just a bad day at the time? I will be trying this place again to give it the benefit of the doubt but not anytime soon.

«The ramen noodles were awesome» say my 6 and 10 year old. We had the pork which was excellent!

Strange logo but great food. If you’re looking for real«local kine*» «flavours**» you will not be disappointed. We ate the Teri Fried Chicken, which was fried chicken cuts(boneless) doused in Teriyaki sauce and the Saimin bowl, which was good as well. They also have old tote bags(2013) for sale — $ 8. Great value. There is also a Big Save grocery store(did not enter). You can get soft serve for desert at the McDonalds in the same parking lot. *Hawaiian for local *Canadian for flavors

If you like local food, the imu hut is the place. We ate the BBQ chicken and the laulau to go. Sorry no pics. Too hungry to photograph. The BBQ chicken was mochico batter but teriyaki flavor. It was ono. The laulau was full of meat that was soft and tasty. Wanted more luau leaf though. It definitely was better than the store bought ones. Both items were really good and I would eat it again. 4****

We tried this place three times and it sucked all three times. Lesson learned. I believe in giving a restaurant more than one chance, so there’s that. Last time I had their«fried saimin» which when done good can be very tasty. Got top raman noodles quickly fried with small chunks of spam. Really?! That not the way it works people. The rest of their food is the run of the mill Filipino/Korean that you find everywhere, but not nearly as good. Do yourself a favor if you’re in the mood for this kind of food and walk down the sidewalk to No.1, it’s at least a little better. And NO, it’s not Hawaiian food.

Teri fried chicken is awesome! The serving size is HUGE. So come in with an appetite. I should’ve got the mini… Couldn’t even eat a third of my plate LOL.

Such good Teri fried chicken and Hawaiian plate. Excellent laulau. Hidden in the back corner of the Big Save parking lot but totally worth the search.

If you want a classic Hawaiian plate lunch to enjoy at a picnic table in the restaurant, this is your place. Large servings of meat with 2 scoops of rice and mac salad, well prepared. Like I said, classic. Don’t come here thinking of «fine dining» but if you have low cholesterol and a sense of humor, this is a slice of the real thing! The leftovers made for great stir-fry the next day!

Delicious real Hawaiian food. We got referred here by a local when my friends asked about a good place to get fried chicken on the south side. This may be the best on the island! The fried chicken was perfectly done, nice tender meat and crispy nicely-spiced breading on the outside. We came here twice, ordered a huge order of fried chicken for a group lunch, I got the pork laulau. The laulau was tender and not too fatty, the leaves inside a nice counterbalance to the plain pork. I craved it so much we went back again and one of our party ordered a loco moco, so huge that he had to share since he couldn’t eat it all! Weeks later here I am on the mainland still craving pork laulau from Da Imu Hut. I’ll be sure to come back anytime I can!

So much food. I finished half before getting full and then saved the rest for later. The plates come with whatever meat you choose, rice, lomi lomi salmon, and macaroni salad. This is good Hawaiian food. I tried a bite of the Teri fried chicken from my dad’s plate and it was tasty. Perfect balance of sweet, savory, and textures… crunchy texture of the«fried» and soft texture of the«chicken». Plus big portions. This is the place that I imagine when I think of good home cooked Hawaiian food. There’s also water cups and a self serve container of water for all you water lovers.

Came here with my boyfriend while we were on vacation. They are able to accommodate gluten free and the cashier was able to answer ingredient questions very quickly. We ended up were two different pork plates. I liked the pork a lot just wish you got more of that and less rice. We ended up with three scoops of rice each since I can’t have the macaroni salad and that was twice as much as we needed.

Very tasty food. I got the Teri-Fried chicken; sweet & crispy! It was yummy and hit the spot after our hike. My husband got the smoked meats plate, a special they had that day. It was a delicious smoked pork with an amazing sweet & tangy BBQ sauce. Both plates came with a deliciously refreshing macaroni salad. The place is hidden in the back corner of a strip mall & only has a few tables.

Imu Hut was previously located across from Omoide’s but this location is now near the Big Save in Eleele. I personally think its a better location and they will get more traffic. It’s one of those places where you stop in, get your food and go on your way but there are seats in there. They have a cute little picnic table type set up. I think they could fit about 15 — 20 people. They’re menu isn’t extensive but it helps you pick what you want. Can’t go wrong with the teri fried chicken or fried noodles. They also have desserts there for sale. Growing up on Kauai it’s just one of those places you go oooh I want something from Imu Hut and when you go back home you make sure to get a plate while you’re home.
