Joe’s Crab Shack

I don’t know why people are so harsh on there reviews and making this a 3 star average. I’ve been here on different occasions over the years and don’t live near by. Ive never had bad service or food. I specifically go to this spot to get that fix of fresh seafood and a get down experience. It’s a fun place. A must go if you’ve never tried.

Joes crab shack is a very nice chain resturant with a very good and laid back atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and professional. The food here is portioned big so come hungry espically if you like seafood. Its a great place to come with a group and billy is a very good waiter. Order the crab dip is very tasty. The sinage around the place is funny with cute lil sayings. The crab is very good nice and flakey cooked just right and the shrimp is not over done.

It’s not often I get to eat seafood, so when I do, it should be a great experience. This one was mediocre.
First, let me say that the Sam Adams Steam Bake was excellent. Great flavor! The lobster claws, crab legs, mussels, and sausage were on point. Fantastic. The corn was pretty good and I didn’t eat the potatoes. The food was great but expensive, which is a market thing, I get that. That’s why I want it to be a great experience when I go out for it.
The side Caesar salad? Paltry. Not worth the price. Skip it if you come here.
I ordered a water and a Diet Coke. My waiter, Nicole, was nice enough but brought me a regular Coke. No big deal. I took a couple sips and realized it and let her know. Then I said, «and actually, I don’t need a soda.» Because I didn’t want to deal with it. Then she said, «I already rang it up.» I didn’t want to make a fuss, so I said «ok.» I guess the Joe’s Crab Shack computer system is irreversible once a decision is made. That’s a lot of pressure for the staff to never make a mistake!
So for $ 2.59, Joe’s went from a 5 star to a 3 star review.

Plenty of parking outside of the Monmouth mall and they have calamari! What else matters? This was my first visit to a Joe’s and it did not disappoint. They have a good selection of crab, some fish and lots of fried seafood. We had the calamari and clam strips appetizers which were pretty good. The clam strips were quite big and not the usual small little fried balls of batter. Service was good and we were promptly checked for service frequently.
