Over the river and by town this is a beautiful store :) I drove to CO and stopped in gorgeous Durango for a quick drive thru. This market would be the place to shop for anything you need … Better than WalMart … Just sayin

City Market is THE main thang going on with groceries in Durango — and boy I am glad they are!
This store is very similar to Randall’s back in Austin in a very good way!
This store also has selected items with discounted prices if you have a ‘City Market Card’ — which can help you save a few bucks on a trip for only a few items. And since you must know, on this day I picked up some smoked oysters, some flour tortillas and a chocolate bar. :-)
When checking out, the gentleman asked me «Do you have a City Market Card?»
Me; «No.»
Checker; «Well, Thanks for shopping with us! We really appreciate it! I have one you can use!!»
Cha-​ching! Saved me some change… which was a nice gesture for this out of towner!
This generousity is a rare thing indeed these days — but is much appreciated!

Staff is friendly and I suppose it’s good for your big market type place if you prefer quantity over quality, as it has just about everything you would search for in a grocery. The produce area is full of selection and appeared to be fresh. However, the meat department was a bit under the quality I prefer, with mostly «select» grade meats and a bit on the high priced side. We bought eggs and about 7 out of the dozen had a fertilized embryo. We left with about 3 plastic bags, no meat or alcohol & still spent $ 80?

City Market is a great grocery store, with a friendly staff. I’ll be back again next hunting season. :)
