Marie Callender’s Restaurant & Bakery

I really like this location as I always have a wonderful dining experience. Customer service is good. Ive had only one dining experience where the customer service has been super slow, it may have been an off day. I love Marie Callendar’s food and I have tried almost everything on their menu such as potato cheese and chicken noodle soups, corn bread, fettuccini Alfredo, burgers, sandwiches, meatloaf, pies, salads, steak, etc…
I have to say that my go-​to-​plate right now is the angus steak dinner with the mushrooms and onions grilled on top of your steak. Order it in medium with loaded mashed potatoes and asparagus! My mouth is drooling

$ 15 not bad for a Sunday brunch. The omelette was actually pretty good compared to a more upscale restaurant. Coffee juice and mimosas included. Finish it all off with some fruit and pie.

Easter brunch rather unimpressive. Okay, but rather bland food, and not much selection. The Torrance restaurant had a better brunch buffet on a normal weekend.

Good service I always come for my pies here and always receive good service staff is polite and I never wait long lines will be returning

Had some really bad Veggie Tacos. All the ingredients tasted like they came out of a can. Should have gone with a grilled cheese. The pies here are ok. I’m not a big fan. Should have checked out their Unilocal before coming. Didn’t know they were rated so low. Anyway, if you like canned vegetables and bland cheese this spot will blow your mind!

The chicken pot pie combo is great! Perfect size. The service was good and we got our food fast.

i went out of my way after work on a Friday dealing with traffic, I get there and went to order a banana cream pie, looked good, brought it home me and the wife had one slice each and into the refrigerator it went, next day wanted to have a slice but noticed that the bananas were completely brown inside, i have never had this happen before with their pie, i hope this was just a fluk.

I’m not a fan of pies but the strawberry pie was really good!

Today I paid for a pumkin pie. The person at front counter touched the pie — the crust with his fingers. He continued to do so after I told him twice. Since he did that… I requested for an exchange for an apple pie. Other people — bystanders said that he put his hands on the pie while placing in it’s container.

I ordered pot pie meal that came with a free piece of pie. Everyone in the group liked their food and service was good. I asked for the strawberry pie I love so much that is in season but it was the worst ever. Asked for it in a box to go. I opened it up and it looked like a pile of crap. Not even any whipped cream!!! What? The crust was sliding all over the place and looked like someone had spooned it into the box and put a bunch of the strawberries on it haphazardly. Didn’t look edible at all. Looked like it was done on purpose or like she didn’t like her tip or something. I don’t know what the hell she was expecting, but I gave her 15 percent on my bill. It isn’t my fault if someone else was a cheapskate. I’ve never seen a worse piece of pie in my life and wound up throwing it out fearing she spat on it too or something. What a nasty little biotch. I’ll never eat there again and if a manager is reading this, you owe me a piece of pie. I no longer live in a town where there are restaurants but you can send me a whole pie in the mail. It is the least you could do.

I give this restaurant Zero stars. Saturday I went with my kids and my food was wrong made I sent it back twice. Second time the hamburger meat was raw, I’m pregnant and can’t eat raw meat. When I got home I started to throw up I got food poison. Never again will I go there.

The pick up stinks. I have gotten ribs that were so dry that you could hardly get any meat off of the bone and I have gotten“Crispy” Shrimp that were soggy and limp. But yesterday was the death of my pick up business at that restaurant. I called in for a Country Fried Steak dinner and when I arrived to pick it up, they had run out. Nobody had the thought or decency to call me and let me know about that fact. I WENT HOME WITHOUT ANY DINNER.

Came here for dine-​in. Great service and very attentive.
Much better food than I expected. The salad bar was ok, but can’t expect a good salad bar at a restaurant known for their pies.
Corn bread is always excellent and their pies are phenomenal.
If you want pie, this is the place

Everyone comes here for the pies but the other food they have here are equally great! Nice service great meals! I would urge people to go in and dine here at least once to try it out!

I loved the lighting and despite the outdated furniture and booths it looks clean. The food was just now brought to us by our waitress and it looks a lot less appetizing than in the pictures. It does taste pretty good though and I suppose that is the more important part. My soda cup has been empty for the last 3 times the waitress has walked by and she has yet to offer me a refill. My girlfriend used the restroom and she tells me they are very disgusting! Because of the good good tasting food and well carbonated cokes I give this place 3 stars; however, because of the price of the food and cleanliness issues I will not be returning to this location. Not ever.

Living in Downey from the late 60’s to 2000, I can say that this Marie Callendar’s has changed, and not for the better. The service has dropped off, the menu items are going away from the American comfort food that got them where they are. Menudo? Who goes to Marie Callendar’s of all the places for menudo? If I wanted Menudo, Marie’s wouldn’t be my first choice. They need to stick to the comfort food classics and desserts that brought people in over the many decades instead of blowing in all directions. It’s a sad thing to say, but I drive right by the Downey location now because it sure isn’t what it used to be and the food and service are no good.

I haven’t tried dining in their restaurant and from all the reviews, i probably won’t!!!

We got the Build your own barbecue platter.
Trip tip, ribs, loaded mashed potatoes, and macaroni.
It came out way too soon for being meat. The meat was full of fat and bad pieces. Im pretty sure its already cooked then just microwaved. It was so low quality.
Mashed potatoes were okay.
Macaroni was not cheesy at all.
It just sucks because the food is always less than okay. We only ever dine in when we get an email for free pie slice and five dollars off entre.
GREAT corn bread and an amazing double blueberry pie and chocolate cream pie.
Thank god the thing they specialize in actually taste good.

This is the worst Marie Callendars My daughters School was having a fundraiser there tonight. When we got there we order our food and told them that we were there for the fundraiser, never once saying that we had to have a flyer to get the credit. Magen the bill came we reminded them of the fundraiser and the waitress informed us then that we had to have a flyer.
I explained that we didn’t have one and asked if I could speak with manager. The waitress then came back to the table and said the manager said no we can’t get the credit and Never came to speak with us. I will never ever eat at the Resturant again. I do not recommend going here at all
