Big Al’s Cafe

This by far the worst breakfast place. Customer service is horrible. Waited 20 min for seating then they let some fools just walk in and sit. I normally wouldn’t even come here but they are the only option in discovery bay. They are actually very lucky they are the only Bfast place here with any competition they would be out of business within a few months. Go somewhere else if you have the time.

I have had breakfast and dinner once in there restaurant and two times deliver dinner and been happy every time. I think it’s good cage food and a variety to choose from.

I will never go to Big Al’s again! On MLK day my husband, myself and our son went for breakfast, only two men were working the cook and the host/​waiter (whom
I believe is named Kyle and is the owner’s son). We sat down ordered drinks as we looked at the menu. I could see our waiter picking his nose he noticed that I saw him so he walked into the kitchen area but I could still see him (the wall has a cut out) he managed to retrieve what he was digging for up his nose, flung it into the air and then come back out to take our order, Without stopping to wash his hands! I was done and got up, my husband asked what we owed for our drinks, the man said we owed nothing and we left! Absolutely disgusting!!! He also acting as though he was on something.

Made a phone call to order two breakfast omelettes for pick up, was placed on hold for almost 10 mins, then a rude, flustered voice came back on the phone to tell me that I would have to wait and call back in an hour if I wanted to place an order because he was too busy. I politely replied that I would be taking my business somewhere else. Went to Lumpy’s and had a lovely brunch!

Overpriced and mediocre. Did I mention OVERPRICED?! 5 people at our table, 3 ate breakfast and the other 2 just had coffee…$ 55. Them was some expensive eggs.

Lunch was awesome my son had grill cheese and i had my fav chilly cheesesteak was awesome! The plsce was clean ill be coming back! Due to i drve through alot. great place!

Had a great Cheeseburger and macaroni salad (home made)!

Big Al’s Café was amazing!!! The food is delicious. The first time I have every ordered a sandwich and did not have to put any mayo or mustard it was perfect! I ordered the Italian chicken sandwich and it was so yummy! You must check out this place!!! Thanks for a great meal!

This place was terrible! What made me experience so horrible was the service! Food was mediocre and extremely overpriced. What made me mad the most, I was with my one year old daughter, and as the server was taking our order, my daughter accidentally grabbed the coffee mug off the table and spilled some of the coffee.
The server completely ignored the spill at first, and after I asked her if I could get some napkins, she went over and handed me their dirty ass rag from their bucket, and made me clean it up. I’ve worked in customer service for many years. If I see a mom sitting with her baby and trying to get the baby to settle down a bit, I would never in a million years tell her to clean it up herself. It was beyond rude to me. Like I said, I’ve worked in customer service plenty of years, so I know what it’s like. I’ve never been so displeased. Never coming back here, id rather go down to the McDonald’s down the street, save a few bucks, and even get better service.

Food was actually pretty good. The service was a little on the slow and grumpy side however.

We stopped here for a quick lunch. I got this burger that had a ring of fried cheddar around it… It was bomb! The people were friendly and the place was quaint. I’d come here again.

This so called Café needs to just close it’s doors! Terrible service (Kyle) and over priced Diners, Drive-​ins & Dives slop, needs to throw in the towel!

Went there for Mother’s day breakfast. The food was good, but the male server gave an attitude, when I inquired about the wait time for my food. He said they are busy and it takes about 20 minutes. This was my first time there and I did not like the way he talked to me. I do not care if you are busy, don’t give me an attitude. Not coming back here.

I really only come here for one reason: the chorizo and eggs. It’s the only thing I have ordered here and it’s really good. So I can’t speak much on the food, but I will say the service is terrible. I am a server myself, and have been for years. I don’t complain unless I feel really disrespected. Every time I come here, servers have attitude. Owner has an attitude. And has been rude to my older sister’s husband and I felt it was a race thing. Not trying to pull the race card here but it was just blatantly obvious the servers and the owner were a lot nicer to the people around us. I really don’t want anyone to think I’m exaggerating because I work in the industry. I have been on the other side. I won’t go into much detail about that, but every single time I’ve been here it’s been a struggle to get a refill or get my server’s attention. Even getting a hello how are you or a simple smile seems impossible. It sucks because I feel the food is good, but I won’t frequent this place.

I have eaten at Al’s a couple times, and I am amazed that there are negative reviews for this restaurant. Each time I have been here I have had a very good experience. The staff has always treated me well and were courteous. The food is tasty. With that said, I have only had the the Club Sandwich for lunch, and enjoyed biscuits and gravy here. Based upon my previous visits though, I have no doubt that I will be revisiting time and again.
The only downside is that their seating area is quite small, but I am certain that if they had more, there would just be that many more patrons in there filling those seats up as well.

Love this place! They have the best corned beef hash and pancakes. The staff are friendly and the chef makes our order just right!

Voted the best breakfast in east county and for a good reason! Whether you eat there or take it home, you are never disappointed. The eggs benedict is always amazing. Most diners don’t get the hollandaise sauce right. Big Al’s does! And the portion of hash brown’s are very generous. They even serve Mimosa’s. Their biscuits and gravy are also delicious. Always a friendly atmosphere. My favorite place for breakfast.

I tried this on a recommendation — even with quite a few low ratings.
Service was good, the lady was polite. Hard to miss me since it is a pretty small joint and I was at the bar where you are pretty much right in the thick of it.
I tried the chicken fried steak omelet out of pure curiosity and it wasn’t bad — food was actually decent and the price wasn’t bad. I would come here before I hit Dennys.
I am sure I will be back at some point.
