Get the homemade German potato salad, great clam chowder. Everything was great. Had the fish fry and bruschetta fish!

I don’t understand what the hype is all about this place. After looking at Unilocal’s good rating I ordered chicken wings from here. To be honest It was not fresh. How can someone serve not fresh food. the chicken tasted really bad. their was some weird smell in it and I could not eat it. I threw everything in the trash.

This restaurant was not a great experience. The food was not very good. I ordered a prime rib that was overly chewy and not easy to cut or chew. The flavor was bland and lacked seasoning. The mashed potatoes that came with it were disappointing. The potatoes did not taste fresh and the gravy tasted like a flavored packet you’d get from a grocery store. My girlfriends mushroom burger was overcooked and the mushrooms appeared to come straight out of a can as opposed to being fresh and sautéed. We both did not feel very good after eating. I give it 2 stars because the waiter was friendly and the beer was good. I don’t think we would return to dine.

Our favorite casual restaurant. Absolutely the best, most delicious French onion soup anywhere. Everything is delicious. Great food, great drinks. Very fair deal to add the soup and salad bar. Great, friendly staff. Usually busy for dinner, so often a 15 minute wait but so worth it. The parking lot is small, carpool if you can or be prepared to park close by and walk over.

I used to go to the French pub at least once a week when I lived just down the street from it. We just called it «The Pub». We typically sat at the bar and were taken great care of by their longtime bartender Cory(who’s no longer there). Their char-beque wings were awesome and a must order. We even participated in their wing eating contest one year, sadly I did not win lol They had a salad bar with yummy homemade soups and all the usual salad fixings. You could have paid a few dollars for unlimited access to it, or get it for free if you ordered one of the dinner/entrée specials. My favorite sandwiches were the French dip, the burger supreme or the chicken supreme. And when available on the specials, I thoroughly enjoyed the turkey dinner as well. I’ve only been back once since they have expanded/renovated. It was nice and the food was still decent, but for some reason it just didn’t feel homey anymore. It felt more corporate, more like a chain-style restaurant. Perhaps it’s all the young kids working there now, perhaps it’s because Cory is no longer the bartender and there’s no longer that familiar feeling… I’m not quite sure. But if their food has stayed as good as I remember them to be — it’s definitely worth checking out!

Have been a long time customer of the French Pub for many years. My favorite neighborhood spot! The staff first off has always been top notch and are always happy to serve you. They do a very good job at getting your order quickly and accurately. They have a very good beer selection and the prices are very fair. The chicken wings are some of if not the best I ever had. They are always cooked perfectly and always have a nice crisp. The servers are always checking in seeing if you need anything and the restaurant is always very clean. With the addition you hardly ever have a long wait for a table. The patio addition is also a plus. 5 stars for the French Pub across the board.

They should not do cinco de mayo again. It wasn’t very good… They ran out of the Spanish rice although my husband did get some scrapings which were very pasty. The margaritas left something to be desired. Tasted like margarita mix & and I asked for salt on the rim and they forgot. Asked for wing sauce for the fajitas and waitress didn’t bring it. When I reminded her she brought Franks hot sauce. We have been here once before and it was really good… guess Mexican isn’t their forte.

I’ve been coming to the French Pub for probably 20 years. It was the go-to place when my mom wanted to visit friends, and I always tagged along. I go once a month or so, depending on the specials menu. I have always had fresh, delicious food. Never had any problems with anything, food, drink or staff. Over the years, Ken, the owner, has expanded the restaurant and parking lot, which is good because this place is always hopping for dinner Every Single Night. The staff are always fantastic, and I love the ones that have been there forever, like Courtney and Wendy. The French Pub is basically an all around excellent dining experience, I recommend stopping by.

I come in on Monday and Wednesday afternoons to see Kristy at the bar. The energy is perfect, the music is great, and all of the bar patrons engage with each other and laugh, mostly because Kristy keeps everyone involved. Today was very snowy and the lot wasn’t plowed yet. My car got stuck and the guys from the kitchen shoveled me out and pushed me into a proper parking spot. I ordered the ultimate grilled cheese and it delivered. I mean, it came out with not one, but TWO sandwiches. The prices here are beyond reasonable and anyone that disagrees is still stuck in 1984. I really dig it here. I only planned on staying 15 minutes and 2 hours later I’m still sitting here. Thanks Kristy!

Super Mario goes drinking here, hence the name«Wrench Pub». Unfortunately some stuffy men from Bordeaux came in here and insisted that they put Frog’s Legs on the menu. And Champagne. And so the locals noticed the increase in pretentiousness and began dubbing it the«French Pub» and the nickname stuck. But to me, and all other Italian bum-bearing plumbers with spanners in our hand(not that kind of spanner, dirty girl), this will always be the Wrench Pub. I want to give it a 4, honestly, but given that it is rated so highly and there are some elements that are not quite a 4 then I’m going to give it a 3 instead. What I like: The place is open late, til 11pm every night, and will serve you right up until that time which is good because a lot of places aren’t or won’t serve you close to closing. The beef on the beef on weck sandwich is very tender and very delicious, taste-wise it is probably second only to Charlie The Butcher, but a distant second nonetheless. The wings were crispy. The beer cheese soup was pretty damn good. The server was nice. What was just OK: There were long wait times for food and for service but I didn’t mind that. The wings weren’t amazing, they were just okay. Also for«jumbo» they really weren’t that big. The French Onion Soup just tasted okay. What was bad: The French Onion Soup came out completely lukewarm, kind of ruined the experience. $ 5 wasted. The salad wasn’t very good. I think it wasn’t fresh enough. I’m not a fan of Caesar Salad anyway but it should be better than this. The Beef on Weck was TINY. Tasted good but way too small. Like a mini from Charlie the Butcher and for $ 8.99? Really? I thought CTB was overpriced. The roll that the beef on weck was on, was awful. It was either stale, or it had been toasted funny. The horseradish tasted a bit weird, wasn’t fresh or strong maybe. The whole dinner left me hungry. I felt like I hardly ate. And the prices… they were already pretty lofty for a «cheap place» on the online menu. But when we actually got there, a lot of things had gone up by $ 1 or $ 2. Total bill was $ 30 and it felt like we hardly ate. I left starving, and my companion didn’t eat much at all. The salad was left completely because it just wasn’t that good even though we were both hungry. Nevertheless, pretty good wings, good beef on weck on an ok roll, if it’s late in the evening and you want some food, this place is well worth visiting. Honestly though and without wanting to be mean to many good friends who gave it a very good rating, I won’t be back. But I did get a really nice response to my mixed review from the owner, who obviously cares a lot about his customers, so for that I will bump it up to a 4⁄5 and recommend that all of you try it yourself and see what you think. Not even if Mario & Luigi and the entire Italian Plumbers’ Union begs me to return. The restrooms were nice though. It would be nice to French someone in there. What do you mean that’s inappropriate? Pshhh.

I came here for lunch on Sunday during a Bill’s game. They had a chicken wing buffet out! It was reasonably priced at $ 12.95 and didn’t solely consist of chicken wings — it also came with two soups: Napoleon Seafood and a sausage soup of sorts, salad and beef on weck. Wings, soup + beef on weck = a true Buffalonian meal. It wasn’t too crammed here during a Bill’s game. Plenty of room to talk and chat, especially if you grab a booth toward the back(and they have TVs facing each wall). Definitely a cool local bar in Depew — check it out!

If my wife and I are hungry and are too lazy to cook and don’t know where to go we go here, to the French Pub. Their food is consistently good, the service is good and did I say the food is good yet? my wife’s favorite is the prime rib which I can’t say I disagree the problem is I think everything is good. So if you’re in the area looking for a good burger, steak, prime rib, salad bar or anything really… you won’t go wrong stopping in here for a good bite to eat.

Comfort food. Even saying the phase you feel a little like you got a nice hug. The places that do comfort food decently are to be treasured and I think these folks fall into this category. There is no haute cuisine here, just folks cranking out dinners and wanting to make sure you’re happy with what is in front of you. Chicken fingers, both huge and tasty, good fries, delicious fresh baked pretzel sticks, and a pretty impressive slew of beer choices. They have a friendly staff and how can you respect the wing and beef on weck buffet. These are worthy efforts in trying times, my friends. Go, and give your stomach that hug it deserves.

Really love their french fries! Their burgers are so-so. But everything else is really great! Chicken fingers are huge and delicious! But like I said, I love their fries! I’m Ima pregnant lady and I find myself craving them all the time!!!

I can honestly say that there is no other comfort/good food place that I go to when I think take out. Their specials are great and the soups! I don’t even know where to start. In house made and exceptional. They will do substitutions on occasion — I’m not a chip fan(even if they are home made) — so when I order a beef on ‘weck sammie, they will give me freaking AWSOME onion rings in place of the normal chips. The beef, I don’t know what to say other than it’s different and so much better that what is normally associated with Buffalo. The rolls are nice and salty and the beef is not drenched in au jus or gravy. It’s simply sliced, rare, and packed into this delightful roll. It’s not supersized, it’s just right! The pickles… whoa. What am I saying? Everyone in my house truly believes that their entrees came pickle-less. These pickles are half crocks. Just perfection. Best part, you don’t need to exit your vehicle to get your«Oh so scrumptious» food. Drive around to the back and the very nice servers who I tip very well will assist with your order.

A nicer than average place to get good pub food and more. We’ve been here several times over the years. The service is very good, some of the best waitresses in the area work here it seems. They have great nightly specials, including an all you can eat Beef on Weck and Chicken Wing buffet. Monday they have Mexican night with an all you can eat Taco bar. We didn’t get the taco bar, but I did get a burrito dinner and the beef filling was outstanding. The tortilla chips were also very good, not cheap quality. We’ve had prime rib dinners here before, sandwiches, you name it and never really had a bad meal. The bar seems like a good place to watch a game, if you can get a seat. There is also ample seating, so even when it is crowded, there usually isn’t a very long wait. This place is very well run.

The service at the French pub is excellent. The hostess and waitress were extremely pleasant and on top of everything. The service warrants a 5 star rating. However, the food is average which is the reason for a 3 star rating. I ordered a salad from the special menu. The lettuce was not fresh and had a wilted taste making it fairly unappetizing. Not many healthy or vegetarian choices. Maybe another selection would have been better.

French Pub has been a consistent favorite restaurant of mine since I moved to Buffalo. Friends and family ask to go here since there is a good selection, nice atmosphere, and quality food. Yes, you could pay a little less at another place for some of their meals, but you will not enjoy it as much overall. They have generously expanded their seating area and they are still packed to capacity on most nights. I would like to see a bigger bar area(maybe take out the patio and extend it) as it is too cramped to go to much. I have really only waited for a table here for no more than 15 mins even when I had to find another parking lot to park in. I’d recommend getting a table in the back and side rooms as it is too noisy in the bar/salad bar area. There is only a separator with ledge/barstools next to two bar height tables, so you are like staring at people from the bar. We were supposed to be seated there recently, but asked to wait for another table as there was a customer who had imbibed a bit and was very loud, yelling conversations. The music is pretty loud as well. The people that were seated there after we asked to wait ended up moving to a just vacated booth next to them because of the loudness. Might be worth a taller separator… Other than that the addition/updates look great, but still maintain the welcoming pub feel. Some of my favorites are the weck and wings, special menu eggrolls(chicken wing, cheeseburger), BBQ grilled wings, and burgers, and salads. They have entrees and various specials that come with a salad bar/soup. Every time I have gone there, the food comes out quickly, it is fresh/hot, and everyone in my party is happy. From vegetarians to seasoned Buffalo wing-connoisseurs. You get good sized portions and everything tastes great. They often circulate with various specialties from Mexican to German and Polish. On the last trip, I noticed that they updated their menu. When the addition was finished about a year ago, they had a previous menu and it was the hardest thing to read. My dad, who is not a fan of his limited reading vision, almost got up and walked out because he was so frustrated(orange text on green background for example). Plus, the lighting is low in the new section. The new menu was so much better this time that he didn’t even need his reading glasses. I am guessing they heard about it! They also feature a «back door» take out which is super convenient on weekend nights. Food is usually ready in about 15 – 20 minutes and you just pull up to the back door. Melissa who is normally manning the door is a great waitress on the phone and through the car window! French Pub will continue to be a favorite of me, my family, and friends, and I couldn’t recommend it more!

The French Pub is right around the corner from my parents’ house, and I’ve been here more times than I can count. It is one of my parents’ favorite restaurants, and therefore I grew up on it. Me and the boy used to go here for dates back in high school, because the food is good and also suiting to those who may be on a tight budget ;-) I went back recently for the first time in a long time, its one of those restaurants I like to hit when I’m visiting Buffalo. I can’t believe how they expanded the place! It looks great, very spacious, with plenty of seating for everyone. We went on a Saturday night around 6pm. There were a few people hanging out at the bar, kind of looked like a lot of regulars, but who knows. We were seated in the back room. Our server came over immediately to take our drink orders and also to bring us the complimentary bowl of popcorn, one of my favorite perks about this place. I started off with a bowl of beer cheese soup, which was served with two warm soft pretzels sticks. It was phenomenal, although very filling so be careful to leave room for your meal! For dinner I had the buffalo chicken panini, with a side of chips. It was really good, the panini was huge, I had to take half home, and it tasted really great. I’ve had almost everything on the menu at this point, and I have never had a bad meal here. They make amazing chicken wings, delicious nachos and awesome roast beef sandwiches. Service has always been great, and the prices are very reasonable. They have a decent selection of beers on draft, and do several specials throughout the week. I love the atmosphere, very friendly and warm. There are several TVs located throughout the restaurant if you want to catch your game. I recommend checking out the French Pub soon!

We have visited twice more since our initial stop and French Pub is now a go-to restaurant for an easy family dinner! Last night we came in and I got a Firecracker Chicken sandwich on a Pretzel bun and it was so delicious! My husband got a BBQ Burger and our son stuck with his favorite — wings on the kids menu. We still love the free popcorn and were very happy with our meals. Thanks French Pub, and our server, Darlene!
