Was really disappointed with this place. The sukiyaki was bland and mainly considted of noodles. The chicken inside it had no flavor. They overbattered the shrimp in the tempura and the rest of the veggies were really soggy. It was pretty gross. The spicy tuna roll was bland and had no flavor. If anything, the large bottled kirin was the best, but it was a little stale. Food: 1 star Service: 3 stars Overall: 2 stars

Decided to try this place after reading the reviews. Service was not that friendly but we came half an hour before they closed. We ordered a sukiyaki which was bland and came up to less than half the pot. We also got a sesame chicken bento box which was just chicken Katsu with tonkatsu sauce over it. The rainbow roll was quite disappointing. It was a california roll topped with fish and the rice had no flavoring. Food was filling but nothing special. Maybe try to go earlier although finding the place can be difficult.

I was skeptical first coming here, but this is when you apply the phrase«don’t judge a book by its cover.» And I am so glad I did because this place is great for a college budget and casual ambiance. I am definitely coming back here more often for some lunch/dinner and bringing friends! If you’re not willing to spend an arm and a leg for a sushi meal without compromising flavor, I’d recommend this place.

Arrived at opening and none of the staff were prepared to work. The table seated after me was helped first. After waiting a hour I finally had my 1 sushi roll. I won’t be back.

Best chirashi for the price! I love their rice vinegar that they use for this dish. You also get a lot more sashimi compared to other chirashi places. Favorite sushi place in Davis. Friendliest server too!

The waitresses are so nice and the sashimi is always fresh. The building is super cute with paper cranes and pink colored everything.

This is my favorite place to eat Sushi! I have been to many, many Japanese restaurants around the Bay Area and Sacramento and this is the best one. First, the quality of the food, especially the fish is top notch. Like most places now, they don’t serve real crab salad in their California roll, however they make it that way if you request it. Second, they have their own special rolls and they are very unique, plus the specialize in vegetarian rolls. Third, the owner truly cares about making her customers happy and continually tried to please them with the things they request. We LOVE this resturant and we we often drive over an hour just to have dinner here.

FIRSTIMPRESSION: when I pulled up to the restaurant: Why the fuck is where apartments are? Kind of weird and shady. However, my friend told me it was good. I ordered oysters and a roll.(Don’t remember which one it was.) OYSTERS: No sand, clean, tasted good, but SMALL as fuck. Smallest oyster I’ve ever seen. Kind of disappointing. SUSHIROLL: Mediocre. It was between the grade of sushi from Safeway and a higher quality sushi from a good restaurant like Raku in Las Vegas.(More on the Safeway cheaper side.) What I mean: Lacking some flavor, as well as flavors sort of mixed weirdly.(I was also told the chef wasn’t there yet so the owner made it instead. Might be that reason.) WAITRESS: Excellent. I can’t remember her name, but she had black hair and was really polite and attentive. – WORK/LOOKING TOAPPLY: As for if you’re looking to apply here to work? FORGETIT. The owner WILLFIRE you if have an EMERGENCY such as rushing a family member to the Emergency room because they are in a critical situation. Fair warning. My work treats me much better than this. OVERALL: Probably won’t come here again. As my favorite food is sushi, this was dissappointing. At least the waitresses are great. Only good side.

Just came here earlier. The place is small and nice. Jasmine was our waiter. We ordered miso soup, agedashi tofu, and OJ dragon roll. The food was fine. The agedashi tofu wasn’t like the original agedashi tofu, but it was pretty good tho. The service was good. Jasmine did good on the water refill. It’s a small thing but I’ve noticed many waiters don’t refill your water unless u ask for it cuz they suppose to keep an eye on their guests water and don’t needa wait until we ask for it. Ik that cuz I’m a waiter at fine-dining. I would definitely come back again!

Not a fan of their food… It’s a small restaurant near south Davis apartments and housing We ordered the unagi-don and a special quinoa sushi The unagi-don cost a pretty penny almost $ 17 with an off meat to rice ratio, and way too much syrupy sauce imo. My quinoa sushi sounded healthy and unique, but when it came out — it was way too small(4 pieces) and the sushi was falling apart… The Uni was not tasty at all… Was told by waitress it’s the best special out and super fresh — but clearly did not meet expectations Not satisfied Jean :’(

If you haven’t checked the hours, this restaurant is closed on Sundays. That plus the slow service knocked my rating down. The sushi itself is probably the best in Davis, but the price of three rolls here is equal to the price of dinner at the all you can eat buffets downtown. Moshe Moshi is located on the corner of an apartment complex in South Davis, and parking is difficult — the parking nearest the shop is one block of street parking or reserved apartment parking. I advise parking in the Safeway parking lot across the street. Came here on a Monday night when there were only 2 – 3 other tables filled, but service was super slow and we were never checked on. There was only one waitress, and although there were other staff members around she was apparently the only one who could take our order or fetch the bill. We ordered the tempura dragon roll, the octopus roll, and the snow crab maki. Everything was great, fresh, and about $ 38 with tip. The lunch prices are lower, but I probably won’t try them for fear of missing my after lunch plans. Still, it’s great sushi and a cute place so I wouldn’t mind trying it again on a relaxed day. If you’re looking to extend your meal plans afterwards, try getting boba at Teabo in the grocery complex across the street.

My first time there, got the tonkatsu bento, it was a very thin slice or pork and overall it was just okay for me…

About a half-mile walk away from the office, this is one of my default lunch choices if I don’t want to leave South Davis and drive downtown. Service can be slow, there is usually only one waitress and sushi chef. The lunch specials are listed on the front cover of the menu, I usually go for the chicken or salmon teriyaki bento boxes which come with miso soup, salad, and either California rolls or sashimi. I have also tried some of their sushi rolls, sometimes when we go in groups we’ll just order a bunch of rolls and share. The weirdest sushi roll I got here was a «dessert» one: the campfire roll — torched mini marshmallows and nutella with mango in a soy wrapper. Scrummy!

Moshi Moshi is one of the best sushi restaurants in Davis. Some people I know(Davis residents and alumni) say that it is their favorite restaurant. What makes it stand out is their fresh fish, good lunch deals, and cozy environment. I’ve tried the salmon teriyaki and pork tonkatsu bentos at lunch and both are good deals. It comes with miso soup, fresh salmon sashimi, a small salad, a scoop of rice, and a decent portion of meat. The tonkatsu is always fried perfectly and not too heavy. The salmon comes in a generous portion and is tender and has a good amount of sauce. I’ve tried the yellowtail and salmon sashimi and their fish never fails to disappoint– being the perfect texture, a good size, and never having the fishy aftertaste. It’s located in an apartment complex at a corner but street parking is easy. I like how they play japanese music. I think the owner is Chinese though. The staff are all friendly, although service can be bad when they are busier. Overall, this is one of the better places to eat sushi in Davis when you don’t want AYCE.

At first I was happy that this place was open through the slow hours(3 – 5), but then I realized ah, what a mistake. My bf and I came in around 3pm and was told we couldn’t order anything that needed to be fried because they were switching out the oil. Sigh, no yummy tempura for us. That really limited our selection so we didn’t get a chance to try out their more popular rolls. :( As for the rolls we did order, I was pretty disappointed. Rolls are 8pcs depending on which ones you get, some are 4pcs. It’s way too overpriced for what you get. Flavor is decent so at least you’re not completely disappointed, I guess. They’re pretty small rolls compared with what you’d expect for the price. I’m probably missing out on their better/more popular rolls, but they didn’t really give me much of a choice! For now, I don’t think I’ll be back.

First time here today for dinner and it ended up being a bad experience. 1.5 /5 1 star reason: The wait time+service: We arrived there at around 6:20 pm. They didn’t take our order till around 6:30 and no water till around 6:40. Food didn’t come until almost like 7ish. Food: We ordered 1 rainbow roll for me, and 2 udon dishes. Sushi was definitely pricy for 8pc with thinly cut toppings ~10 $. Seafood Udon was ~6 $… The food wasn’t all that special; especially the udon. Felt underwhelming like everything was boiled with some soup and then served. The hot sauce given to us was brown… I added 1 star for my sushi because it was so-so. Service: All the other tables who came later than us, got their orders first. My mom complained to the waitress once I got my sushi that the food was coming out slow(the two udon dishes wouldn’t come till almost 10 minutes later). And finally she tells us the truth that their staff member came late/didn’t show. So minus .5 because they should’ve told us beforehand so we could leave after 30 minutes of waiting or at least apologize when you, the server/cook, expect our food to arrive late. It wasn’t so busy in the restaurant that this kind of service should’ve occurred. My family went home raging at 7:35pm. Major disappointment.

This is my favorite sushi place in Davis! They have the freshest sashimi you can get in town. I’ve seen the fish deliveries with my own eyes. Jimmy, the sushi chef, cuts huge sashimi slices, so you definitely get your money’s worth. The wait staff is very nice and Stacy is always friendly and remembers our names! Favorite roll is the Mighty Bob, but OJ Dragon is a close second! Definitely worth a try if you haven’t gone before!

I’d lean towards a 3.5 for the whole experience. The original plan was to go to Mikuni’s but simply passing by and seeing the line out the door we looked for other options. Most places in Davis have really poor reviews for Japanese food, you’re almost better off driving out to Sacramento if you want better quality japanese food. The parking situation is kind of odd, since you literally enter a hospital/surgery parking lot??? But you just drive to the right side and there’s customer parking in the corner. Food wise it was decent. It wasn’t awful food and it wasn’t amazing food, but it was okay. We did two combination plates(bento boxes). Tonkatsu, salmon, chicken, and sesame chicken. I think I liked the tonkatsu the best. The salmon was just okay and the other two chicken sides were okay as well. I just preferred the texture of the tonkatsu over the other dishes, especially because I don’t prefer a lot of dressing on my meats and these were drenched in a sauce. Overall it wasn’t bad. Our service was decent and the food was decent. It’s a bit quiet but it’s definitely not as bad as some of the reviews I read. Maybe it’s because we stayed away from the sushi, who knows, but we gave it a shot with low expectations and we walked away content.

This place was really awful, which makes me sad because the service was good and the waitress was so apologetic. I asked them about a food allergy and they made one of my rolls with regular crab instead of the mock crab. The crab was not fresh at all — it was dry and gross and had the consistency of dried cuttlefish. I ended up sending the dish back, which says a lot, because I hadn’t eaten anything that day and was starving. They felt sorry for me so they gave me a free bowl of rice to eat while my friends had their sushi(which they didn’t like all that much either). All I paid was the tip. It was a decent tip, because our waitress was really nice and apologetic and did everything that she could — it’s not her fault that the food was shit.
