Sushi buffet lunch for $ 13.95/person — you eat as much as you want! So worth for people who have an appetite and love sushi. I definitely loved that they had AYCE with SUSHIBOATS. You don’t have to wait on most of your orders because they’re floating right by you. And if you sit at the bar, you can just let one of their sushi chefs know what you want and they quickly whip it out for you. You can always walk around and grab what you want as well. I thought it was pretty cool that they offered entrees like salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, and other things as well. It wasn’t solely sushi. And their sashimi was served without rice, so you can just get the fish itself if you wanted. The ones with rice are usually available on the boats. They had a bunch of options, but a lot of them were just too saucy for me. A lot of them had sriracha actually which I’m not a huge fan of(on sushi). Anything that looks too filling/heavy, I usually stay away from. My favorites were the hamachi and this sushi roll with a little crunchy flakes over it. Pretty affordable for AYCE sushi! Check it out if you’re in Davis.

and so it’s a buffet . not very appealing to the eyes. the sauce was kinda splatterred all over .the sashimi was kind of thrown in there. the lion king roll(usually made to order) was pre-made and kind of cold. aside from that . what can you expect from a buffet .? people go in for quantity and not quality. only thing is we didn’t really read past boat so, our expectations were a little different until we received the bill. of course at that point the meal was done and wanted to get it over with.

I’d recommend this place if you want sushi on the dime, and have a black hole for a stomach. The customer service here is pretty meh here at best. Even though there’s a sushi boat contraption if you sit at the bar, you are very limited to what they decide to make at the time and usually half of the options are meats/fillers that no one wants(which ends up getting cold since it just sits there). If you want them to make you an entire roll that isn’t on the sushi boat, you’d have to try to get the attention of one of the sushi chefs inside of the sushi boat area and hopefully he acknowledges you before you get embarrassed about repeating the same order 10 times because you’re not sure if he heard you or not. I’m not sure if he was having a bad day or not, but it was so hard to get his attention this particular night, even though the restaurant was only about 1⁄3 full. The food was alright. Everything was filled with artificial crab and/or covered in sauce. The sashimi was still frozen so you have to wait a few minutes for it to defrost on your table. The seaweed salad and salmon nigiris were excellent! All in all, you can’t expect too much from a cheap all you can eat sushi buffet. If you don’t want to go through the hassle of trying to order from the sushi chef(which i don’t understand because he has to take orders and make sushi at the same time), i’d recommend going to the other ayce sushi places in Davis where they actually have a waiter come and write your order down so there isn’t any multi-tasking involved.

Went here with a group of 15 after paintballing. We thought we would’ve had to wait longer to get a table since we were such a big group but I guess we beat the rush. Ambiance: Nothing to get worked up about. Somewhat small but it was cool that they had the sushi boats near the bar area and allowed you to order directly if you wanted something else cooked. Service: Pretty much left us alone after seating, but there wasn’t really any point to check up on us that much since it was self-service. Food: You get what you pay for. For AYCE for around $ 20, i’ve had better sushi but you get your bang for your buck. My friends ate a ton and thought it was great. If you’re someone like me, AYCE buffets aren’t always the go to since I don’t eat that much, but they had a great selection of things and if it wasn’t out there you could ask them to make it and they would.

This was my first Sushi Buffet experience since their isn’t any in my town. I was excited to try this place out since it’s all you can eat Sushi. So far I have been here twice with friends and it does the job of satisfying my sushi fix. Overall the Sushi is okay, but hey all you can eat until you explode! Pro: Fried shrimp and the Gyoza are delicious.

The lines can get crazy but there is lines for a reason! The sushi is amazing sitting at the bar is obviously best option. Cook and staff are friendly and the price for the food is worth the wait!

Heard about this place from a few friends that attended UC Davis, so I knew going in this would be one of those cheap, non authentic but filling sushi boat places. The rolls are pretty basic. Mainly variations of Cali rolls, so I mostly filled up on the salmon nigiri. You can grab them off the boats or order other specialty rolls off the laminated sheets in front of you. They also have:(from what I can remember) –fried chicken wings –edamame –Japanese fried potato croquette –salad –seaweed –cucumber salad –orange slices –cream puffs –egg rolls –tiramisu cake(delicious! get this!) Overall, I had a pretty good experience. If you set your expectations accordingly, this place is a great bang for your buck. I’d probably be back if I was in the area and didn’t want anything super fancy.

Pretty good sushi especially when i was craving it! I like the fish they have here, and I enjoy the cooked spicy sushi rolls. Wish they had the mango cake when I was here but they ran out. But the coffee one is great! I would come here with a lot of friends

This place is awesome if you want to get your fill on sushi. They have the sushi boats where you can choose what type of sushi or hot items. If you don’t see anything you like on the boats, you could order from the menu and it’s all included in one price. Let’s talk about the sashimi. They offer tuna, albacore, white tuna, yellowfin, smoked salmon and regular salmon. Not many places offer all these variety of sashimi in all you can eat establishment. Let me just say this, it is awesome. You get all this food, plus a drink for just under $ 22. Did I mention they offer tempura shrimp, and chicken wings, I recommend this place.

On 4÷15÷2016 before the UC Davis Picnic Day started, I was heading to this place located in the small suburban of downtown Davis. Fuji Sushi Boat & Buffet brings the customers to experience these amazing«All You Can Eat» sushi rolls, fried soft shelled crabs, grilled meats and many more. As I entered their doors, the atmosphere is quite busy and ongoing while. The décor is quite older, yet it does have kept the original materials just like the Elk Grove location does(i.e. boats and sushi bar.) The employees are doing a fine job here for making the customers like me an enjoyable service. No cons at all. Food time! For this lunch special of AYCE buffet which I paid it at a reasonable price, I picked some great choices like the California Roll, Dragon Roll, fried calamari(as requested by the sushi chefs,) and grilled t-bone steak. So far, it tasted not bad for me. The goods are the California Roll and the Dragon Roll which both sushi rolls top the notch along with the grilled t-bone steak. The cons is the fried calamari. It tasted well, yet it may lack it’s flavors somehow. I wish I could get the fried soft-shelled crabs instead, but for next time. Overall, what a great appetizing lunch. Parking at Fuji Sushi Boat & Buffet can be challenging to park. You can park at the nearest surface street parking if it’s available depending on the busiest environment. Otherwise, you can also ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. In the end, Fuji Sushi Boat & Buffet is a fine, good AYCE Japanese buffet that I’ve ever tired it for the first time. Perfect for friends and family gatherings day or night. A worthy visit! My rating: 4 solid stars.

My friend and I came here after a stroll in Davis. They serve Japanese and it was a buffet. I was wrong about the buffet. The food are on those sushi boats and you have to scream and yell at the sushi chefs as to what you want. TIPFORFIRSTTIMERS: SEATATTHEBAR!!!

Where to eat in Davis? Hmmm? Fuji Sushi Boat and Buffet? It was open and not busy so we decided to give it a try. There was hardly anyone inside and we were immediately seated at the counter. The sushi chef quickly let us know that we only had five minutes to order before they closed. We hurriedly ordered sashimi(red tuna and hamachi), fried oysters, a roll containing baked fish, rice, and sauce, and a seaweed salad with three kinds of fish. The tuna was delightfully fresh and had great flavor, the hamachi, not so much. My fried oysters were very good, some of the best I have had. Fortunately, we had ordered plenty of food because the river stopped flowing and the boats disappeared shortly after our arrival. My daughter really like the baked fish with rice and sauce. Every time I think about Fuji, I think about how rushed I was to get our orders in and it makes me feel more than a little stressed so hopefully you will forgive me for the short review.

I don’t really know why this place has such low reviews… It’s all you can eat sushi for under $ 20! Of course, you can’t expect top quality sushi for that price, but I found the sushi to be delicious anyway! The salmon nigiri was fatty and soft, and did not seem low quality at all. The tuna was on the drier side, so I’d pass on that. They also have other«filler» foods which is great for people who aren’t big fans of raw fish. They have chicken yakitori, different teriyakis, and their salad is actually amazing. Idk what their salad dressing is, but it was so refreshing! You can also ask the sushi chefs to make your sushi, if you don’t want to wait for it to come around on the boats. Your food would be fresher as well! I went for dinner, and with tax it came out to be $ 19.50. That’s unbeatable, especially since dinner comes with free miso soup, soft drink/hot tea, and has a wider selection of food!

5 stars for getting your $‘s worth. All you gotta do is order 3 servings of sashimi and you’ll be set on that front. I recommend the hamachi and grilled fish cheek over everything. Definitely the better quality dishes out of everything.

I give this 3 stars because back when I was a student at UCD, I thought this was just awesome! While the service is good, I do feel like this is more like fast food type of sushi for cheap. Admittedly, I’d still come back here the next time I do a pit stop in Davis.

It’s fairly amazing how I have yet to write a review for this place considering I’ve gone here often enough after snowboarding trips. *shrugs* Well I should at least provide some insight. Overall for $ 18 all you can eat sushi dinner, it’s kind of hard to beat, but the quality is subpar at times. Fuji Sushi Boat is located in Downtown Davis on G St. Parking can be a bit difficult as there’s really only a small lot across and street parking. So provide ample time for parking. If you’re aiming to eat at the bar, then you need to be there at opening otherwise you’ll have to wait. I was amazed how many people ended up waiting instead of taking tables. There were so many tables open! I did notice that this past time we went, it wasn’t as busy as it used to be. People didn’t even care if they got the bar or table. Well we got lucky on both accounts, parking and getting a seat. We got the last parking spot in a small parking lot directly across from Fuji and the last seats at the bar. Good thing cause I was HUNGRY after snowboarding. It did look like things changed. Drinks were now included in dinner meals. The menu was succinct though funny enough some items on the boats weren’t on the menu like the honey walnut shrimp and short ribs which good thing because the short ribs were what we were here for as the other Fuji Sushi Buffet in Vacaville doesn’t have it. We actually tried to order it initially and told they didn’t have it… then lo and behold about 45 minutes into our dinner service they popped out of nowhere onto the boats. Ordering is as follows: order sushi/sashimi with the«sushi chefs» at the bar. For anything grilled, fried, or dessert, you go to the end at the left. Everything comes out fairly quickly with the exception of the Lion King Roll which we unfortunately had to learn the hard way. It takes about 25 minutes to bake… What were the winners? — honey walnut shrimp — super white tuna sashimi — salmon sashimi(can be icy at times) — fried banana(though this can be hit or miss) — short ribs(but it’s heavy…) — seared tuna What could I not have eaten? — albacore sashimi — just a bit tough — red snapper sashimi — mocha, mango… heck any of the cakes. Not worth the stomach space as it’s dry and just not good. — fried oysters(though I didn’t order it specifically this time, there was one lone one in my fried squid plate) — sesame balls(just small and dry) Tips: — Stick to sashimi — Order half rolls which are 4 pieces instead of the 8 – 10. — Come early to be seated at the bar — If you want short ribs, they seem to come out at around 45 minutes after opening for dinner. — Don’t be tempted with the large salmon fins and cheeks unless you’re into that or have people to share it with. I just really wish they had soft serve. I do wish their sushi rice were more vinegared, but should I be that picky? Probably not. I’m stuffing myself silly anyways cause well… we paid for it right? Would I come back here again? Likely because we tend to want to eat like crazy after a Tahoe trip as it’s always a treat and we don’t have one nearby that is comparable.

A Davis institution: Fuji is average quality AYCE at a reasonable price($ 13 lunch/$ 17 dinner + tax and tip). The fish isn’t the best and you can tell its prepared for the masses, so I’d only recommend coming if you really just want to fill yourself up with fish. They have a conveyer belt with boats but you can also order from the chefs at the counter. From the counter you can order sashimi, custom rolls(I usually get Hawaiian– tuna and avocado or Alaskan– salmon and avocado and cucumber) or the HUGE specialities(Davis, Spider, etc). While waiting for the chefs you can grab appetizers from the boat(some nigiri, chicken?, edamame, dumplings). If you want tempura or another hot Item you can order from the chefs at the ends of the bar. The dessert highlight is the tempura banana, it’s simple but the banana flavor is very present. I’d also suggest avoiding the bathroom area it’s pretty nasty. Its not amazing sushi, but if you want to fill yourself up for a deal this is the place to go.

Fuji’s was a go-to spot in Davis to fulfill the sushi craving, especially if you wanted to pay less for more food. I always took advantage of their fried soft shell crab and oyster and salmon sashimi especially because it would be super pricy at other Japanese restaurants. I always ask for a bowl of rice and spicy mayo with my sashimi! I would look forward to going to Fuji’s over Davis Sushi Buffet because they would be the only ones that made the Lion King Roll before. However, the lion king roll wasn’t that great, tasting like a dried California roll with salmon. The service is great and the price is cheap, cheaper than that in Vacaville. $ 13.95 for lunch and 17.95 for dinner(which includes miso soup and a soda or tea) Ever since the the fuji’s in Vacaville opened up, the wait time has decreased :)

My friends and I came here for lunch when I came to Davis to visit. I guess most people who come to Davis usually come for the sushi buffets because it’s a lot cheaper than the ones in the Bay. So that’s kind of what I did. My friends and I came here at around 12:30pm and it wasn’t packed at all. We were first seated at the table and decided we wanted to sit by the bar because it seemed like there were more options to choose from. The food was honestly just okay. It was nothing special. It is very average to be honest. I did enjoy the food and it wasn’t that bad, but I’ve definitely had better. A lot of the dishes on the sushi boats were kind of random. There seemed to be an equal ratio of hot food(skewers, pot stickers, etc) and sushi rolls(smaller — 3 to 6 pieces). You have to order the sashimi(salmon, tuna, saba, smoked salmon, hamachi, etc.) and special rolls(Davis, Dragon, Catapillar) directly to the chefs. I guess it’s not too bad for what you’re paying for. Overall, it’s really nothing special to be honest. It’s the quality you would expect when you’re only paying $ 13 for lunch and for AYCE. I guess I am not too sure of what the big fuss about this place. It’s just okay and it’s a good place if you just wanna get some food on the cheaper side.

Poor UC Davis Students. They don’t know better. This place is disgusting! I came here with the family because of the favorable Unilocal reviews. I should have known better. It looked pretty good with the sushi floating on boats. But, looks are deceiving. Some of those boats must’ve gotten lost during their three hour tour and landed on Gilligans Island. Almost all their rolls had either fried shrimp and/or imitation crab in it. The rice on the California rolls that my daughter took from one of the ghost ships was hard. Sushi rice should not be hard. Then there was the little flies buzzing around us, and landing on the sushi as it sailed on the boat. I almost took almost took a photo of the little flying bug, but, it was too fast for me to show the Unilocal world. The fish was not fresh. I had some of their tuna and hamachi sashimi. Both the tuna and hamachi were not the right color, and tasted fishy. I was scared to finish it. They do have cooked foods. When we asked for the shrimp tempura, they brought it out right away. I guess they have a stash of pre-cooked food in the back. My wife also asked for the salmon teriyaki. She didn’t like it. The fried oysters were probably the best thing we ordered. They came out smoking hot, probably because no one normally orders it. Hey UC Davis students, just because you can stuff your face silly for under $ 20 doesn’t mean that this place is good. Stuffing your face here could be bad for your health. I tried it once, but, will never do it again. But you do get free miso soup and free soda with your dinner. Just say no!
