My boyfriend and I went here for the first time yesterday and we were not impressed. Our waiter took forever to come and take our drink order and he took even longer bringing us our beverages. My boyfriend ordered a chicken bacon pizza, if I’m not mistaken, and later on that night he got food poisoning!!! We went here around 4pm and he didn’t have anything to eat before or after our visit so he definitely got it from the pizza he ate. So disappointing!

I ordered a personal pizza and I watched the waitress write down my order and repeat it to me. After waiting ONE hour, my pizza comes out completely wrong. My water glass has been empty for 20+ minutes, the table and bench seats were dirty, the service sucked, and the kitchen cannot read; apparently. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

As a local that relocated to the Denver area, this is my first stop when I come back. I don’t think it was even an hour after we landed that we were in a corner booth waiting for the food of the gods to arrive. Not to mention the best frozen pizza around. The regular cheese pizza is possibly the best in the area. I total suggest this place.

This restaurant is one of our favorites! We always sit in the bar and have a great time — until tonight! The food and service were great, but there are arcade games in the bar area that were occupied by 4 unaccompanied children. These children were pretending to play and SCREAMING. No parent or adult bothering to watch them. I realize that these games bring in a lot of money, however, these children were just pretending to play. Their«adult» supervisors were quietly enjoying a drink in the other part of the restaurant, while these kids were ruining our dining experience. We have never had this happen before. These machines should not be used as a babysitter! Perhaps the machines should be moved into the dining room so that the kids can be watched, and the people in the bar can enjoy their dinner and watch the World Series! I am giving a 3 star rating because of this disturbance! Debbie

The BF and I visited this location recently, the service wasn’t anything spectacular, and for goodness sake we typically stick to pizza and wings, so traditional items only for this place. It was just after 3pm so we were in for a late lunch on a Thursday. Low and behold we would spot a dog at the table with customers on the way out. I was quite baffled and didn’t think to take a picture. The server had visited that table multiple times so I’m unsure if it was allowed because that’s their policy or if it was due to the lack of customers during this time of day. I do want to say that at no time do I believe an animal should be allowed into the dining area of a restaurant. Due to what I believe I will not be a returning customer. Thanks but no thanks!

Had a good time. This is the closest home run in. Place was packed on Friday night. Overall very clean restaurant. Pizza tasted bit different but maybe they changed the recipe a little. Still very good. Nice staff. Don’t forget to check in to get $ 5 off large pizza. Will be back!

Oh boy… here we go. We arrived at 5:15 on a Saturday night and waited for 30 minutes to be seated when there were at least 5 open tables. We were seated and the waitress took a few minutes to come over to the table to take a drink order. When we placed the drink order we also ordered 2 orders of cheesy bread. This is where it all went wrong. — pizza order had to be repeated 3 times — 20 minutes without a waitress when drinks in the table were empty — we watched the waitress get flustered when we flagged her down and asked where our cheese bread was and she got a manager(in full view of our table) to put in the order that she forgot — one person from our party asked for a manager who said«we are busy» instead of apologizing WELEFT… here is a lesson. Don’t forget a tables order, be honest when you make a mistake, staff properly. None of us will return. Six couples don’t need the extremely poor service and lies instead of owning up to a mistake.

Worst service by host and manager. We had a reservation at 7pm and because not every single person had arrived, they made us wait(standing) even though we had a handicapped person in our party. We’ve been coming to Home Run Inn for over 50 years. We started coming after White Sox games when it was two steps up and open the screen door. We went to the Addison location many times with a large group and were treated very well until it closed. Disappointed in how we were treated and will not be coming back to the Downers Grove location.

We had a long wait for food on Saturday night and I never did get my Emmett’s Pale Ale but I was surprised at how tasty the food was. My chicken pomodoro was incredible, though VERY cheesy. The rest of the families pizzas were delicious. The best though? Cookie Monster. Get one.

I’m a pizza snob. It is quite a difficult task to impress me with a new kind of pizza, but I’ve wanted to try Home Run Inn. See, I remember when they first started selling them at the grocery store(because I worked there when I was 17 years old). I loved the frozen Home Run Inn pizzas more than any frozen pizza I’ve ever tried. So when the restaurant starting popping up, I wanted to try them. I have heard from others that the pizza wasn’t good or that they didn’t like it. I was told not to waste my time. But I’m happy that I finally tried it for myself. We were in the west suburbs shopping at IKEA when hunger strikes us both. I remember the Home Run Inn at this location and made up my mind. The service was okay, but not over-the-top friendly. It was a Friday and a late afternoon, so the place was very empty. We decided to order a personal pizza each so we could pick all the toppings we really wanted. Our bill was just about $ 30 with an appetizer and one pop. We got the garlic bread appetizer and it was huge! Two people could not finish it alone! The pizza was similar to the frozen kind you get at the store, except it was on crack! The personal pizzas allow you to pick 4 toppings and I chose pepperoni, mushroom, garlic, and extra cheese(I forgot to ask for the butter crust). I was blown away by the flavor. It was the frozen home run inn on crack or steroids or something else. I probably wouldn’t get the garlic again because there was just too much of it. Overall, I would come back here again and again! There’s another location closer to where I live, and I’ll be ordering from there in the near future. From one pizza snob, this place makes it to my top 10 pizza places!

We went there a few hours ago and everything was great, as usual. We were there with a large family group and every person felt like they received individual attention from the wait staff. If every restaurant was run as well as HRI, there would be no reason for Unilocal. Highly recommended.

Went on a busy Friday night but was able to be seated at a booth(as requested) very quickly. Waitress showed up immediately for beverage orders. When she returned, she realized we didn’t have menus — which was all right because we knew what we wanted. We wanted a medium cheese and sausage thin crust pizza. Problem: no medium pizzas. WHAT??? Apparently you do need menus to order here because it’s one of these weird places that doesn’t have a «medium» size. So it’s «small,» «large,» and«extra large?» Weird. We got«the pizza that is one size larger than the smallest» or(most likely) «the middle sized» pizza — and it was great. Service good, pizza very good, but naming of pizza sizes are odd-as-heck… There was plenty of sausage on it, and the ratio of sauce-to-cheese was great.(It’s not as good as 5-star Lou Malnati’s pizza, but it’s very good. It’s way-way-way better than 1-star Giordano’s which is bad. Apparently the Unilocal-powers-that-be never experienced Giordano’s or they’d offer a 0-star rating. See my reviews of both for details.) Went back on a weekday to try the lunch buffet. No one was around the entrance when I entered, so I found a server and said I was sitting myself. I ended up sitting in Jose’s section. He was an excellent server! The buffet was quite good, but pricy. I prefer the cheese and sausage pizza — which wasn’t on the buffet the whole time I was there. Yet, I found other things to eat. The meat loaf is very good. Since a beverage isn’t included(who eats pizza without pop?) the downside is that the lunch buffet ends up being quite expensive. The buffet was around $ 11 alone. So, it’s good and tasty — but not a deal by any stretch of the imagination — or wallet.

Home Run Inn is my family’s FAVORITE pizza place. We have been coming here for over 20 years, usually wearing pants with an elastic band, because it’s guaranteed that we stuff ourselves silly with thin crust ‘za. Toppings are always fresh and plentiful, the sauce is boss, and the crust is crispy… you can’t get much better than that. We rarely bring home leftovers. We eat until there’s nothing left to consume. If you really want to take it to the extreme, end your meal with an over-the-top Cookie Monster. It’s the surest way to have yourself waddling out of the pizzeria. PS. Now living in Indianapolis, I still have access to HRI via their frozen pizzas. The sauce and crust taste the same, but the cheese tastes a tad different. Although it’s not the same as a freshly-made pizza, it tides me over until I’m back in the ‘burbs.

First and foremost, I would like to say that our dining experience this evening was exceptional. Our server Yezenia was terrific and gave us excellent recommendations regarding portion sizes for the strawberry pecan salad and a fabulous cookie monster dessert that our kids devoured. She had great attention to detail and I will definitely be more inclined to eat at HRI versus our usual carryout routine. The Darien HRI has always been my favorite location since I was a kid growing up in DG. My only suggestion would be for them to start carrying a small craft beer selection. Otherwise our food this evening was phenomenal. We feasted on awesome mozzarella sticks, strawberry pecan salad, 16″ half cheese half spinach/plum tomato w/garlic butter crust, and a cookie monster dessert! Job well done HRI!!!

We typically go to Bolingbrook but were sick of the terrible service, so decided to check out this location instead. Not only was the pizza as good or better, the service was great! This will definitely will be our go-to!

We did a small take out pizza for lunch. My mom ate it in the car just outside. We were in a hurry to eat and run bc of a tight schedule. Pizza was ready for pick up right on time. It was hot and tasty. Similar to the frozen kind they sell in grocery stores though. I’m not a huge fan of this particular pizza. I find the crust strange. A lot of ppl love this pizza and I think it’s solid but it’s not my kind of pizza preference. 4 stars for quality service and a solid pizza over all.

We came here Friday night at 7pm for dinner — my husband, 2 year old son and me. The hostess told us the wait would be 15 – 20 minutes. No problem. They said we could wait in the bar. We sat at the bar. Waited. And waited. And waited. There were two bartenders and a bar back. None of them acknowledged us. About 10 minutes after sitting down, the bartender said to the other bartender did you get them yet pointing to us. He said no I will in a minute. Then he proceeds to ask guests around us who is next. Then he sees us and says oh your kid can’t sit at the bar and walked away. At that point we told them that their service was horrible and we were leaving and walked out. Decided to enjoy some Chili’s down the street where the service is excellent no matter which restaurant you go to. Seriously Home Run Inn? I love your pizza but we won’t ever be back and I think I will switch up my frozen selection as well.

Last week I took my brand new electric car out for its first long trip. Where did we go? Why to a quilt store, of course. I met two other quilters there and after the fabric fest we needed some nourishment. I suggested we have lunch here. It was quite nice! I had never had the buffet before but I actually liked it and in general, I am not a buffet kind of gal. I had a very pleasant spinach salad with strawberries plus several different kinds of pizza and a brownie for dessert. We had great service and decent iced tea. I would come again for lunch but of course, I would have to buy fabric first. It’s a new tradition.

Never fails to disappoint. Living in Ohio now, it is impossible to get decent pizza. This stuff is great! Had bacon, pepperoni and sausage pizza with the boy. Girls had cheese only. Oldest had roasted red pepper with pepperoni, onion and bacon. The 5 of us ordered enough for 10 and left with a few scraps for the drive home.
