Been twice now since the last review. Coffee = fantastic. BUT This time I had a lemonade and the Mac and cheese. Mind blown. I love my lemonade tart not too sweet, you know, real lemon flavor? Done. So good. Mac and cheese though??? Oh man. LOVED it. I’m picky about Mac and cheese. It has to be something special because otherwise I can make it fine. Gooey, delightful, rich, nice crumble on top that’s not too much but a slight added texture. A reasonable portion but even at that I couldn’t finish. 4 stars because the last review was 3. I’ll go again and try the eggs Benedict. Picky about that… But after that Mac and cheese… I’m looking forward to it.

Rad food, great coffee & the staff there is amazing! A girlfriend and I stopped in during SUPERBOWL to catch up. As they were closing down a bit earlier for the game but let us stay back while they closed up shop. No hassle and we didn’t feel rushed. Oh and I must say the that everyone who checked in on our table was super engaging and informative. Big shouts specifically to our waiter with the knuckle tattoos. You rock

I didn’t get to try the actual food food here. My friend and I met up for coffee and had a gluten free dessert to go along with our drinks. Their drinks are massive! They come in these huge cups, and we both were not able to finish them. The dessert was tasty! I also love that they labeled which desserts were gluten free! That definitely made it much easier for us to decide what we were going to share. It’s a super cute place with cute décor. It’s definitely a place I would frequent if I lived in the neighborhood. Next time I come back here, I want to try out the food.

The place is super charming. I loved all the décor. I had a bacon scramble and it was pretty good but I tell you, the four stars is because of the ambiance. It was so cozy and charming. All the details were adorable. It’s a great place too to sit down and get work done while grabbing a bite to eat. The place is just so inspirational…

I’m sure I wrote a review for Sideboard when it was back with the Danville Hotel. I really like Sideboard. Why? Well it has the nice balance of quirk, rustic chic, and uniqueness that you want in a place. It’s not really a restaurant, but more of a café. Mind you, there really isn’t parking except for street parking, but you can park at the clock tower lot and walk over. In terms of what they serve, they have a variety of drinks which include coffees, teas, wine, and beers. They have baked goods and each time I come in there I just want to eat every shelf. They have english muffins, cake, bread pudding, pot de cremes, etc. Although not a full fledge sit down with a waiter restaurant, you can order food. They have appetizers which include our fav, fried brussel sprouts, sandwiches, salads, and sides like mac & cheese. I got the grilled ahi tuna sandwich which cost $ 16(not including tip). It was pretty good, but the wasabi spread and ginger kind of killed it for me and not in a good way. It killed my tastebuds and cleared my sinuses. So it was really hard to enjoy the full flavors of the sandwich. I think next time I would ask for the spread on the side. Generally my go tos here are the meatloaf sandwich because it’s covered in hoisin. Also the brussel sprouts… oh I can just have that and be happy. No it’s not healthy at all, but it’s the best combination of crisp and chew and salty. It’s a little on the oily side but I don’t care. The people who work here are also fantastic. Although the space is small, it’s quite an upgrade from the original location as they now have outdoor and a whole back area with seating. Yes it’s pricey, but for me it’s all worth this gem of a place.

The Sideboard is one of my favorite neighborhood gems in downtown Danville. It used to be located in a much smaller space years ago but now has it’s own free-standing home with much more seating both inside and outside. Definitely a quaint casual American eatery that’s both kid friendly as well as dog friendly. It’s a great place to gather with a date or group. I must say that I love how the Sideboard goes all out on decorations for holidays/seasons. The place is charming with string lights at night outside on the patio. They even provide blankets for the patrons. To be honest, I have enjoyed the ambiance and service more than the food I’ve tried there. On separate occasions, I’ve dined in for lunch and dinner. The first time, I had a chicken breast parpadelle. The chicken breast was so dry and over grilled that it was only edible as I ued it to sop up the marinara sauce. The parapadelle was good and tasted like it could have been fresh, homemade pasta. The second time I went for lunch and had the chicken tortilla soup. The soup was filled with chicken and beans but incredibly salty. I think it was enough sodium for a whole day’s intake in that bowl of soup. Salads and sandwiches seem to be the safer bets here. Friends I’ve dined with didn’t have any complaints when they ordered those items. The kitchen needs improvement on the hot dishes though. Overall, a cute spot to try out in Danville. I would be more inclined to order a salad or sandwich on the next visit. They also have beer and wine available, so it’s not your basic café. Check it out on a warm day, so you can enjoy the patio. Street parking is available.

Pros: I look for a few important factors in a good restaurant: décor, service, and taste. This place has all three! The restaurant almost doesn’t look like a restaurant but a quaint little American home. The furniture is nice and home-like with their wood furnishing and cute décor. This is an order and pay place so NOTIP necessary! LOVEIT. And of course the food is simply delicious! They make great eggs benedict with English muffin… YUM. Their breakfast sandwich is also really good! Cons: As other people in Danville have noticed, it is a great place. So great that it will most likely be crowded with a long line. I came on a weekday and the line was still out the door! Now you have been warned. Overall: Delightful place with delicious home-cooking food! I love this brunch place! Next time, I will be adding tomato and spinach to my eggs benedict as I saw someone next to me do.

If you’re in the area you gotta try this place! I wish I lived in the area. It would be my go to, catch up with friends, or just grab a quick snack! Everything here is awesome! Pretty spacious for a small place but it does get packed. You order as u walk-in and find your seats! Service: awesome! Food: absolutely amazing! I suggest u try the Brussel sprouts and mac&cheese. I will come here to try the paninis, egg Benedict, and shrimp and mango enchilada. Pastries: cookies are amazing! Very chewy which is my favorite :)
