The doorman was a real ass. I wouldn’t recommend coming here. I was with a group of women(approximately 5 women) for a bachelorette party. Half of our group was a little tipsy, no more than expected for a saturday night. When we showed up, the rope was up. I asked if they were at capacity, and the doorman confirmed. He told us if we waited that he’d let us in as the appropriate number of people exited. Two people left within a few minutes. He told us to line up over at the handicap ramp. One of our group members went under the rope to get in line on the ramp, and that most have been what pissed him off. We counted 10 people leaving the bar before we took off to give our patronage elsewhere. If you are going to be doorman, you need to have at least a little patience. It’s unfortunate this happened, because living in Danville there are limited options for bars. I would suggest Elliott’s. They’re staff is excellent!

We came here upon recommendations by fellow Unilocaler Chuck M. Originally we were here for Danville’s Summerfest that was held this Father’s Day weekend. Weather couldn’t be more perfect. We actually had freebie Haagen Daz ice cream but hubby was ready to eat! We had walked by the restaurant earlier when it was closed. By the time we walked back it was open and Eric the bartender was ready for us! This sports bar with TV’s everywhere was perfect to watch the game tomorrow! They even had a pair of pianos in the back! Perfect for the dueling pianos! Great entertainment if you are here much later!!! Hubby and I ordered salads. I wavered with the shrimp or steak. I went with the black and blue salad which was the flat iron steak and gorgonzola cheese with skinny fried onions on a bed of romaine lettuce with the flavorful Caesar dressing. It was definitely delish! Hubby got the popcorn chicken which he had avocado with it and that was yummylicious! We were very satisfied with our food choices. My favorite type of bar seating was predominantly here. It made for a very comfy feel. By the way the women’s bathroom was decent here too. Thank goodness for that! If we were back we would eat here again. They did have outdoor seating in the front and in the back of the restaurant. Their walls were covered with lots of sports memorabilia! It’s actually cool to check out! I thought the name of this restaurant McGah’s Pub & Pianos was quite unusual & unique. The next time we come we will have to ask about that. It’s definitely not a chain restaurant! Food was awesome! See you again McGah’s!

Criteria on how I came about 4 stars: Service, Drinks, Food, and Entertainment — It came out to be about 3.5 stars, so I will round up to be generous. Entertainment: 5 stars for sure! The dual piano with the amazing pianist who could play pretty much anything you request, was fantastic. They also had great voices. Loved them for sure! The way it works, they play what you want to hear. The leave a little slip on your table and you can write down what you want to hear and pay for the song(if you want to). The point of paying, if to get your song played first, as opposed to those that do not pay. I think of it more of a deserving tip, to have them play what you want to hear. They’re also great at keeping the crowd fun and lively. Definitely one of the liveliest piano bars I’ve been to, and I along with the rest of the patrons, were having the time of our lives. At one point we were all chanting«chug! Chug! Chug!» then it became«sip! Sip! Sip!»(long story) Drinks(3 stars): For a bar, I was disappointed in their beer selection. The most decent ale I found on the menu was Fat Tire. The cocktail list was just ok, so I didn’t feel like I had too much to choose from. I started off with a mandarin mimosa — fruity, kind of tasty, but wouldn’t order again. Then I moved onto the mules. These are what I would recommend ordering. The original Moscow mule and the watermelon mules were both really good. Service:(3 stars); I get that once the bar gets busy, servers get swamped. But I have definitely been to busier bars that the servers still had time to check on patrons with a smile on their faces, so this was just an ok experience for me. Food(3 stars): Typical average bar food. The truffle Brussel sprouts were not as amazing as I was hoping. I could smell the truffle, but it was lost from there on. It was obviously they barely used any in the Brussel sprouts. I think the aioli was the saving grace for this dish. The salad was just ok, and the(add your own topping) pizza/flatbread was again ok. I was told to get there by 7pm to grab a bite, and to grab a seat to enjoy the music. That was exactly what I did, and I’m glad I did that. It wasn’t crazy pack on a Saturday evening, but it did fill up. The music was scheduled to start at 8:30pm(I think)? But they were running pretty late, so that was a little disappointing as well. Overall experience here was good though. I would definitely go back for the entertainment, but not so much for the food.

You come here on any day but a Friday or Saturday night, the bar tenders and servers are great. Come in here on a Friday or Saturday and while yes the pianist are amazing, we paid $ 40 for a song and it never got played even though he told us multiple times it would and the bartender charged us someone else’s bill($ 62 for three drinks) Also plan on waiting in line unless you wanna slip the door guy money.

Fantastic moscow mule drink, but made with Tahoe Blue Vodka. So refreshing, the ginger added great flavor and a wee bit of spice. Vodka is soooo smooth.

Went for the second time on Saturday with a group of girlfriends and was not disappointed. Very good time was had by all. Only wished they played more 90’s and current music, but that could have been the crowd that was there. Food was good, but the entrainment is excellent!!! Will be back with the boys next time.

Gets hopping around 930 and crowded by 10. Piano men duel it out. You can request songs. If you want them played be sure to include good tip as in $ 20. Good bar food. I recommend the potato skins with cream cheese — sounds a little gross but actually very tasty.

I’ve come here a couple times with friends and the only reason I’d return is because the pianists that perform here KICKASS. Other than that… The service is awful and the food is mediocre. The highlight of coming here was definitely watching a dual performance of ‘baby got back’ and ‘gin and juice’ played on the piano. That takes some serious talent. The inside is a bit cramped starting around 6. Their patio area is fun at night but poorly lit, so I wouldn’t recommend this for a group of friends but a date rather. Another good thing about this place is their Moscow mules, I’ve ordered one every time I’ve come and they’re always refreshing. Come here for the music, and you won’t be disappointed.

I have never been so disappointed in service before. It took an hour and 30 minutes just to get a burger and a club sandwich. The only good part on the experience was the the entertainment.

First time going because the dueling pianos were interesting to me. The main pianist has a great personality to carry the night through. The food was good but i cant give them full stars because of the waitress. Unilocal says if u check in, on your first time check you get 15% off… well NOT according to her. When it was time for the bill the waitress told me «we dont do that». So i said«but its on Unilocal». Her response was. «we don’t deal with Unilocal». Handed me the bill and walked away. Wow –way to go Blondie. I love Unilocal.Sorry her or this establishment DOESNOT, especially when Unilocal is the only reason I even gave them a chance at all.

We’ve been to another piano bar in the city and this one was quite comparable, except the piano guys didn’t handle the crowd for money as much. Loved the experience and the crowd. A wedding party took up most of the place, so it was pretty lively. My dark and stormy had tequila in it when I was expecting rum.

We had my husband’s 40th Birthday party here last night and had an AMAZING time. We rented out the entire restaurant from 5:30 — 8:30 pm for our 85 guests. We received wonderful service from Ashley and the entire team. The food was shockingly really good. I didn’t have high hopes, honestly, but everyone raved about the food. We did passed appetizers of caprese skewers, bacon wrapped scallops, and spicy shrimp and had a fruit and veggie plater as well. We also have a taco bar which had chicken, beef, and carnitas with all the fixings. This is what I was most worried about. I mean, I’m married to a Mexican man, and I ordered a taco bar from an Irish pub… how good could it be? But I was so pleasantly surprised. ALL the food was amazing! Like rave reviews. We had a signature drink, The Dirty Martinez, which the bartenders mastered quickly, and everyone loved. We were able to connect our computer to one of the TV’s to have a slideshow of my husband’s life on loop. I connected our iPod to their sound system so we could listen to music and we were able to use the microphone to give speeches. At 8:30 the doors opened to the public, and it got really crowded. I wish a few less people were let in as it was wall to wall people, but I get it, it’s a bar, they aren’t in the business of comfort, right? Our guests were all given arm bands so they could continue to order on our tab throughout the night, which was terrific. The Dueling Pianos started around 8:45 pm, and they were wonderful. Both are so talented. The lead pianist, David, was hysterical, and roasted my husband good! Great experience! I highly recommend McGah’s for a fun private party. Our guests have been calling and posting that last night was the best party ever! Thanks for helping create a night my husband doesn’t remember!

This was a cute place we found on the Unilocal«Nearby» app use one evening on the way home from a dinner in Walnut Creek. We decided to stop for my husband’s birthday and have a drink. It was very packed, but we luckily found a spot where a nice couple was leaving at the bar and they offered us their seats before they left. Very nice! The bartenders were friendly and quick with making the drinks, even given having to attend to so many others. It was really LOUD however, and the pianos had not started yet. My husband and I had to keep yelling to each other and repeating everything. We only stayed for one drink, but definitely would stop by again another time when we can stay longer, as we noticed several people ordering bar food and it looked really good!

Came here for my husband’s company Christmas dinner. Such an entertaining and fun night. We celebrated in the patio area and gradually moved inside when the piano guys were ready. The guys that play the paino are entertaining and talented. I felt bad when some drunk girls kept pestering them to play songs. Overall, loved the atmosphere. Definitely will be returning.

I’ve been meaning to come here for the longest time. Happy hour are weekdays from 3 – 6PM on selected appetizers($ 5 – 6 each) and drinks($ 5 – 8). We ordered the pizza bites with pesto sauce($ 5) and a full order of the brussel sprouts that comes with bacon, truffle oil, Parmesan cheese and a side of garlic aioli sauce($ 12). Plenty to feed 2 – 3 people. The brussel sprouts were by far my favorite. Customer service was solid. I look forward to coming back on a Friday and Saturday evenings to witness their epic dueling pianos spectacle! Note: For those using the 15% Unilocal check-in offer, the 15% does not apply to happy hour menu items and alcoholic drinks.

Fantastic atmosphere, really good food. The first time I went, I shared one of the combo platters with a friend. We had the onion rings and tater tots, which were $ 7 total. They were great! Crispy and warm, with a nice ranch sauce on the side. Sadly they don’t have honey mustard :(We also ordered some kind of strawberry lemonade drink off their drink specials; it was sweet and refreshing. Of course go for the dueling pianos! If you want a table, go an hour early to eat and snag a spot. The place is pretty much packed the entire time. The service is great and the waitresses are willing to answer any questions you have about the menu. They also have free wifi! I saw that they have a lunch special where you get half a gourmet sandwich with a side of fries, soup, or salad for $ 9. That’s definitely something I am going to try in the future!

The group was there last night, we had a great turn out. A little history on McGah’s, was previously called That Bar– at the same location. The group was there last night for the dueling piano’s, this goes quite late and draws a large crowd of people. We had some time to visit before the pianoing(is that a word) got started. Usually it’s really hard to talk. I reccomend going outside in the back area, if you want to talk to someone. Last night was the first time I had food from here, a gal in our group offered me a slice of pizza, I wasn’t going to say no. It was really pretty good. The server’s here are very attentive and work very hard. A lot of the guys that work here have beards, there are also some cute gals that work here to. This is a sports bar, so there is plenty of sports memorabilia everywhere on the walls in here.

Food: had a burger and it was ok. It was not cooked evenly, but not terrible. Tater tots were a bit hard. My colleague said his veggie burger was«not bad». Nothing to write home about. Service: waiter was very pleasant and accommodating. Speed was average,(we were sitting outside.) Atmosphere: We sat on a rather pleasant outdoor patio, with a nice gas fire pit. The patio is in their back parking lot, but they do a good job of hiding the ugly trash bins and junk in the rear parking area by using a wooden fence. The cushions on the bench seating were quite dirty. When we were leaving a country music live band was setting up, it looked like fun.

I am doing a sports bar review of buffalo chicken wings. 4* for McGahs. The chicken is very tender, juicy and tasty. The buffalo sauce is the perfect blend of spice and savory. Ranch sauce is good, but we have had some creamier/cheesier versions. The chicken is simply higher quality. Service is great and it’s a cool environment

Going in early is a completely different experience. Happy hour on a Friday is chill, service is still friendly and prompt. Dollar off my beer and I’m about to eat some BL Tinys so I’ll let you know how those are in a minute. They were ok.

Snacked on some delicious pulled-pork sliders with excellent BBQ sauce. The fries were good too. Draft selection was quite poor though. There were about 1 «several» choices and they were all from the big names. The game was on(Giants & A’s), but no game sound, just random tunes.

Came for the dueling pianos which was pretty dope. Both pianists were talented and entertaining. BUT the crowd sucked! The only non white person in the place was the bouncer. I mean it was WHitesville! I know it is Danville, but it would be nice to have a more diverse crowd. I mean I was getting stink eye looks when I was booty dancing to back that azz up! Nah. Bye Felicia. On a positive note, the salad was cool. lololol.

Had a blast last night(Friday night). It was louder and more crowded then I had anticipated, but it was my first dueling piano bar so maybe that’s standard. Plus, if you let the atmosphere take over you get really into the good vibes, music, and signing. I have to say — the pianists– what amazing talent. Able to switch between decades of music easily, beatbox. Hit high notes, make up songs on the go to discuss people in the bar. It’s more than impressive. Also, I thought one was very handsome so that was an added bonus haha. Oh, I should also note there was standing room only at 9pm but men were truly gentlemen and gave up their seats for us ladies and as the crowd thinned out towards 11 seating was a non issue. Overall, I’m so glad my girlfriends recommended this place. What a great experience.

I went to McGah’s a while back when it was That Bar, and this new iteration is more or less the same thing. Menu’s got the same pub fare, there are still dueling pianos, and it still feels completely out of place in Danville(in a good way!). Be sure to try out their buffalo soldier burger!

Came here with my girls on a Friday night. We knew it’d be plenty loud & crowded, so we were there around 7, and were able to snag a table with no wait. And… of course, we got a table facing the wall, but all good. We didn’t do much sitting, anyway! We ordered a round of drinks, and some food. Food took awhile to come out, but it gave us time to finish our first round… and then we ordered another. The garlic cheesy bread [appetizer] with pesto is SO good. I didn’t get to try everybody’s entrees, but the caprese sandwich [with chicken & avocado] was to die for. The pianists started preparing around the time we got our food, and we got note pads to write requests on. Didn’t know the process at first, but caught on pretty quickly. I guess the main pianists were at Burning Man, so we got the back up crew, but they were fun, so no complaints. Although I did get randomly hit on by one [lol]… But anyway. They played some fun songs and I got to get down with my girls. And do multiple rounds of drinks & eat good food. Fun night. Don’t think I’d be back regularly [it’s rather far from where I live], but I’m glad we gave it a try!

We came here for a birthday party for my sister and my mom! What a great venue and staff. The place is decentl size hit your really crammed in there on a Saturday night. It’s a fun crowd and a lovely crowd with the piano guys rocking and rolling all night. The staff are very cool and the drinks are definitely reasonably priced. We danced and sang all night. The crowd is both young and older so it was great that my mom and her friends came with us. We had so much fun. Definitely a solid recommendation for this place. Thanks mcgaws and staff for a grey birthday celebration.
