My absolute favorite honey comb hideout(as I call it). Every meal I have tried on their menu is absolutely amazing! Plus it’s in my neighborhood! Can’t beat that!

Love the Laurie Special. The best in Dallas. The bartender knows how to make a great dirty martini.. The service was a little slow and waiter seem to be ready to get off work. We will return because food is very good.

Best food in Dallas! Love the enchiladas, nachos, quesadillas, and fajitas! Can’t go wrong ordering anything on the menu! Ask Grace when you check in to sit in Tony’s section! He’s the best!

My wife, kids, and I went for the first time last week with some friends. We all thought our food was really good. The atmosphere was also very energetic and fun. Pretty standard fare for what you expect with Tex-Mex, so no complaints there. I had the beef enchiladas with chili con carne sauce and a margarita. I would recommend that dish and beverage, and I am anxious to try other items the next time we return.

Tupinamba has sooooo much potential… it just didn’t quite hit on target! One word that describes this place: FLAVORLESS I’m very salt sensitive and had to add salt to every single chip in the basket. The salsa was bland but had nice heat! Service was pretty good, wasn’t too busy for a late Thursday lunch. My husband ordered the 12 man(new York strip, 4 cheese nachos, guacamole, and a cheese enchilada with chili con carne on top)…the price of that was $ 18! For an incredibly juicy steak and a whole LOTTACHEESE??? Thought that was a bit steep. His steak was cooked perfectly! I was feeling basic that day so I got the beef fajitas. A beautiful entrée and smelled devine, but you could probably have better at on the border for half the price. Meat and beans were bland… can make better beans at home in the crockpot. I would probably go back to try something different… it’s close to work and the place is pretty clean! Have your salt and pepper ready when your entrée comes out!

Good, basic Tex-Mex with quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, baskets of chips, and bowls of queso. Very generous portions. Went with some friends for a mother/daughter outing at lunchtime on a Saturday. We sat at our booth long after we finished our meal, drinking endless glasses of iced tea, and talking. We were never given the rush to get up and leave. The servers were prompt with taking the orders and getting the food out, unobstrusive with refilling glasses, and accomodating when bring the check. Another positive is that the place was decorated with a modern, open-style, not claustrophobic at all. My only quibble is that the menu was a bit boring so people looking for something a little less traditional would be disappointed.

Love Love Love this place… have been going since I was young. Every time I go the place gets better. The drinks are wonderful and the food is always excellent. The TupyTacos are to die for. Everyone in my family have their birthday dinners there. They are always very welcoming of us all and the waitstaff is always pleasant and correct with our orders. Great place all around. Always has been!!!

The food is good but it has lost something. I had so many fond memories of the old place but for some reason it just is not the same. I really think that they fixed something that was not broken, and when they put it back together it still works but just not as well.

Here’s your tldr in advance: The good = location, The bad = food, The ugly = service. The location is awesome, the 75/Walnut Hill area needed more sit-down restaurants. That strip mall was floundering and now it’s great. Nice place inside and outside, sweet patio too. They are a little rough on the food, the preparation seems haphazard for the price. For example, the food was falling off the tostadas on one order, the waitress clearly noticed but set it on the table and left. The fajita chicken was overcooked, and the taco salad was sloppy with gobs of food lobbed in the shell. Tupy tacos are greasy and outdated, retire those guys, or start slashing prices. The place was slow and it felt like there were dozens of employees loitering watching us eat — awkward! The waitress would avoid refilling drinks far too long, then bring double drinks later — it doesn’t really work that way folks. Would it kill you to check on us once before we waved you down? The new Tupinamba location is better than the old, but the service and menu are stuck in their pre-1990’s(?) heyday.

Sitting here at the restaurant as I’m typing this. Food is marginal and the customer service is terrible. Took 15 minutes just for a server to ask us if we needed anything else and we are even in a large group. For what it’s worth I wouldn’t come back.

We came here for lunch and ordered carnitas. The food was solid, with more than enough to share between two people(we had leftovers). The carnitas was really tender and flavorful, and cooked just right. The salsa that they bring out with the chips is kind of on the bland side, so we asked for something spicier. The new salsa was awesome! It had a smokey tangy flavor and way spicier than the table salsa, so definitely ask for the spicier salsa. Our waiter was really nice and gave us tips for ordering in the future. He recommends the carnitas made with spicy sauce, which is just jalapeños, onions, and other stuff added to it for more flavor. We will get that next time. The bar area is pretty nice because they have outlets going all around that have usb and regular plug ins to charge your phone or laptop. They also have free wifi and nice areas to work if you want to have a longer lunch. For a neighborhood Mexican place that isn’t Gloria’s, I like this spot for tex-mex!

Our first time here. Prompt service for lunch. We attested of the lunch menu and the entrées were amazing. We shared the carnitas and the guiso plates. The guiso reminded me of home. The flavors were spot on and you can tell this is someone grandma’s recipe and not storemade. The carnitas were great and not greasy. We will definitely be back!

This was my first and last time at Tupinamba. The only thing I enjoyed was the tupy taco. The chips and salsa tasted like they were prepackaged from a store. The margarita had an unnatural color and tasted artificial; I have no doubt it was made with a mix. I ordered the a tex mex plate with cheese enchiladas; the plate came out so hot that you’d get 1st degree burns if you touched it. The enchiladas were drowning in sauce and were nothing special. The thing that got me was the high cost of the food and the fact that the tex mex plates did not come with rice and beans. I did taste the rice and it was bad as well, not worth the extra $ 1.75. So basically, save some money, eat better food, and go to Mi Cocina.

I’ve only gotten take out from this place since they moved to their new location on Central Expressway south of Walnut Hill. To me, the new location doesn’t do much for me. Access to the building is difficult due to the steep steps in front. I’ve witnessed several customers having problems with the steps. The food is still quite good and the Tupy Tacos are awesome!

This was my first time at the new location. My family has always loved this restaurant and we frequently have large family dinners here. I prefer the looks and ambiance of the old location on Inwood. Yes, it needed some major work done, but it felt more cozy and seemed bigger. The food, as always, was great. Had the steak fajita nachos and the steak was flavorful and well cooked. Love it.

Well, what can I say. I miss the old Tupinamba. Although the old place was worn, at least the carpet had a pathway worn in to guide you to your favorite table and enjoy some decent Mexican food. Even Eddie the owner was genuine and friendly. The new place is boring and over done. The service is just ok, Eddie just doesn’t seem the same. There’s a phony demeanor about him now. Not a big fan of the Aggie being shoved down your throat but I was looking for a good meal. I didn’t get one. The chip baskets were tiny. They are clearly trying to save money. The drinks and margaritas taste like walmart made them. The Tupi tacos are just jack in the box tacos at 10 times the cost with less fresh ingredients. The salsa is terrible. I saw one of the employees sneeze into his hands and not even wash his hands. The food was mediocre. I don’t recommend this place. As its older clientele dies out so will this overrated restaurant. Eddie has not done his parents legacy proud. Very sad.

Wowie! I loved Tupinamba. When we saw this place go up, the parking lot was immediately full so we knew it was a must-try. We arrived at the strip mall expecting a «typical» tex-mex décor. Not the case! The inside is beautifully decorated and there is lots of seating. We went on a Tuesday at prime dinner time and didn’t wait at all. It was full, but we weren’t on a list. The service was pretty good and the menu was diverse. I loved the Tupy Tacos(a little spicy!) and the enchiladas were delicious! I can see why the parking lot has been full since it opened. Awesome!

Really liked the old Tupinamba the few times I ate there. It was friendly, casual and had good food. I was excited to try the new location because it’s closer to home. Our first visit consisted of eating an appetizer of stuffed jalapenos(frozen?) and drinking a margarita and this was our second visit. Beautiful day for the patio and we asked to wait. Thirty minute wait — not bad. Sat at the bar and waited for one of the three gentlemen working it to notice us. Made eye contact 3 times with one, who decided it wasn’t his place to acknowledge us. There should have been some kind of «hey, we’ll be with you shorlty». After several minutes our friendly bartender came down and we ordered a house margarita and a Modelo Especial. The HM was $ 8.50 and came from a mix, including the tequila. For $ 8.50 I would like my margarita at least made to order, not from a plastic bottle. Table ready on time and the patio is wonderful. It is raised above the parking lot, has foliage, nice umbrella tops and doesn’t feel like you’re sitting in a parking lot. The service is friendly. We were in the mood for typical tex mex and the combo plates were the usual, except that the prices of approx. $ 10 to $ 13 did not include rice and beans. That’s no big deal, except when you add that in, the cost goes up $ 3.50. So, you end up paying at least $ 14 to $ 16.50 for a typical tex mex plate? This is not high end mexican food. Does not compute. Add to that the $ 8.50 plastic bottle margaritas. This is not the old Tupinamba that I liked. And it is not a new place with good value for the food and drink served.

Nice Tex-Mex restaurant that leans only slightly to the Mexican side. Not hidden but not obvious in this strip center next to 75/Central, surprised I had not seen it until now. Apparently, this place has been around for decades at various locations, and is on par with quality and service of El Fenix or any other local Tex-Mex franchise. Lots of lunch specials, many under or right at $ 10, and include iced tea in the price. I went with the«Rudy’s Special,» which included a chicken enchilada in verde sauce, a beef enchilada in sour cream sauce and a crispy beef taco — sort of a mini-sampler plate. The enchiladas were great, and the taco freshly fried and hot(even the chips had a fresh greasy sheen not long out of the fryer). The dish didn’t include R&B, which really didn’t matter but did seem slightly disappointing and would have rounded out the plate well. I would happily eat here again.

Had been a regular at the former Inwood location. The décor in the new place is very upscale while the menu has been drastically pared down. My dinner companion & I are pescatarians and our favorite meal(2 grilled catfish fillets, grilled potatoes, squash & zucchini) was missing from the menu. We asked our server about the meal who said that the kitchen could make it even though it wasn’t on the menu. We each happily ordered it and enjoyed chips & salsa with frosty glasses of draft Modelo Especial until our plates arrived. The meal was well-prepared, and the server kept water and beer glasses filled. The café wasn’t as busy as expected for a Sat night, but there was a huge thunderstorm on the way which could have kept people from venturing out. We noticed prices on the menu have gone up at the new location.
