I was able to try this place out for a baby shower surprise party with a few co-workers. I had not heard of it previously, so was interested in trying out the food. Atmosphere: Very cute, sidewalk café type vibe. I really liked the outdoor seating and the indoor décor. We went during the day in the middle of the week, but I could tell this could turn into a very romantic setting for a date night. They started lighting candles for our table as the sun was setting it was pretty lovely. Service: Our waiter was very attentive. I will say he seemed a bit rushed, though, but I’m not sure if it was because he was eager to serve or just plain in a hurry. Either way, he wasn’t rude, just… jumpy? I don’t know. Interesting. Once we got our food, he kind of just left us alone, but we didn’t require much so. Food: Ok, so anytime there is calamari on the menu, i’m trying it. It was crispy and well seasoned, which is all I really need, so good job. I also got the shrimp risotto, which was decent. Not my favorite, but not terrible. But of course, try it out for yourself.

One of my favorite spots in Dallas! Brunch is amazing! I love the european feel and always bring friends and family here when in town. Service is fantastic and although always packed have never had to wait too long for a table.

Avoid a stressful parking experience in the Knox/Henderson area by parking west of the Katy Trail in Highland Park and walking a few blocks to the restaurant. The restaurant is right next to the Katy Trail and easy to find. Be prepared for a wait if you are coming at peak brunch hours. My dining experience here has been limited to brunch foods, although I would like to visit for dinner at some point. I highly recommend the New Orleans Beignets with Cappuccino sauce to share as a brunch appetizer. These beignets are airy, delicate, and provide the perfect sweet touch if you are opting for a savory main course. My two most recommended main courses are the Bagel & Cream Cheese and Orange French Toast. The Bagel & Cream Cheese comes with smoked salmon and fresh, juicy vegetables to arrange how you like on top of a perfectly toasted bagel. The Orange French Toast almost tastes of healthy, fresh oranges until you end the delusion by biting into the luscious mascarpone cheese. Currently ranked my number one brunch spot in Dallas, I recommend Toulouse for small or large groups of people, regardless of the occasion. The service is average — perhaps they could do with a few extra staff at peak brunch times. However, all of my orders have always come out quite timely with no errors. Toulouse is highly recommended for those visiting or living in Dallas.

Food was so bad. Service was worst. The only pluses were the nice patio if there’s a cool breeze and the unlimited supply of bread. –French onion soup: the worst we’ve had ever –Main lobster and kale salad: where’s the lobster and kale? Oh, hidden under the arugula. –steak and eggs: asked for rare but received medium well, chewy as fu** –beef hash: bland The highlight: bread and butter Man, what a disappointment.

I had been eyeing this place for a while now, because their brunch has been featured on a few articles. My friends and I finally checked it out on a Saturday morning. It was not as crowded as I had imagined. Given the area, they have valet parking, but we parked in a lot nearby and walked over. We were seated in a corner and felt crammed, and the chairs were uncomfortable. The food was ok… nothing to rave about. I ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict, while my friends got the Eggs Florentine and Create Your Own Omelette. I guess I liked the Eggs Florentine the best out of the three dishes. The price point is somewhat lower than other brunch places in the area. However, I would rather pay a little more to get outstanding food. Another downside was the service. We felt a little rushed, despite the lack of customers. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with my dining experience. Maybe I will give it another try for dinner sometime.

Maybe our expectations were too high, but brunch at Toulouse was a bit of a disappointment. We arrived around 1:30 on a Saturday, and to our surprise, there was no wait for a table for two. We were seated on the patio, which was a bit crowded and busy, with servers brushing you as they hurried past and loud, pounding music making it difficult to carry on a conversation. The brunch cocktail prices were a big surprise. At Toulouse’s sister restaurant, Taverna, directly next door, they have $ 2 mimosa flutes at brunch. Great mimosas and a great deal. But at Toulouse, that very same size mimosa is $ 8.50! In fact, the cheapest cocktail available at brunch is $ 8.50. Most are $ 9.50 or $ 11. And they’re all quite small. In a city full of great brunch drink deals, Toulouse falls painfully short. The one place where Toulouse shines is their beignets. The New Orleans Style Beignets with Cappuccino Sauce are delightful. For $ 7.50 you get a towering cone of fluffy, hot, powdered sugar covered pastries with a small boat of sweet cappuccino sauce for dipping. They were delicious, and our favorite part of the meal. By contrast, our entrees were very underwhelming. We ordered the Omelette Provencal, which is filled with ratatouille vegetables, sautéed spinach and goat cheese, and served with brunch potatoes. We were served the Create Your Own Omelette, which is filled with ham and cheese and mushrooms and served with brunch potatoes. Similar enough that we didn’t realize we had received the wrong dish until we had eaten enough of it to render it impossible to send back, but different enough that we were disappointed. We also ordered the Eggs Florentine, which came out as ordered, but was very bland and wet and unimpressive. The brunch potatoes were probably the best thing about either entrée, and it’s never a great sign when the sides are better than the main course. Service was rushed and brusque, and we never felt completely comfortable throughout the meal. Not our favorite brunch place in Dallas, by a long shot.

Recently went on a date here on a Saturday night and found the place to be a great romantic atmosphere, along with outstanding food and service! Parking was a little tricky, but if you park behind what used to be a chilli’s on the corner of Knox it’s a short walk from the entrance. I called to make reservations, However they only take reservations for parties of 6 or more — that being said the wait for us was only about 10 – 12 minutes. The décor is very French-bistro with contrasting colors(vivid reds, great use of mirrors and candle-lit tables) and has a very open feel with an open patio deck(covered too). We sat inside and although it was full, it never felt too crowded or overly loud that you couldn’t hear your lovely date sitting across from you. The only gripe I kinda have is the waiting area is super small and it’s best to grab a drink or wait by the very small bar to the right of the entrance. Other than that, the Trout Almondine is absolutely delicious and not too filling. Just the right amount of portion and perfectly cooked. The French Onion soup is second to none, and reminds me of walking down the streets of Champs-Elyse, Clemenceau or a stroll down Chatalet in Paris!!! Lastly the Crème Brulee… OMG! I literally wanted to cry on how delicious it was. I mean… as soon as the creamy custard hit my tastebuds… oh… Lawd’ A’ Mercy! Definitely worth the $ 9 each for the soup and Brulee. Merci beacoup!

Decent food, terrible service. –1 star for poor service –1 star for a lack of awareness We decided to get Brunch here due to the multiple reviews on Unilocal. We got a table fairly quickly but then then the problems started. Out waitress had some wine spill on her shirt, which took her 15 mins to get to our table. Ok, can excuse that but it seemed like our food took forever to come out, and we asked for another plate of bread and some crushed red peppers three times and she noted it, walked away and guess what, we got neither of those or even an apology or a sense of awareness that you forgot! The food on the other hand is pretty good. I ordered the Beef Hash, basically chunks of well seasoned soft beef with potatoes and eggs. My friends got the Mac and Cheese and an Omelette. No complaints on the food side except for a large piece of onion in my friends Omelette(guess they were just lazy to cut it?) We were there for about 1 hour but we got only a single coffee refill. And yes, we asked them to split the check three ways and it took them 20 mins to do that! Guess what, they had 3 managers on deck all dressed up in suits and I had to stare one down to finally get the check! Our waitress was either new, incompetent or just plain unmotivated, and the managers didn’t seem to understand what was going on since they just stood around the door rather than walking around to ensure their customers were doing ok! Due to this, my experience was sucky and hence the 3 star review. They did however have a line of staff say bye to us when we left. I guess the feeling was mutual!!!

Sunday brunch at Toulouse is spot on. Really nice French bistro feel, beautiful patio for outside dining. Prompt efficient service. No reserves but they open at 9, so just take an earlier brunch if you’re fussy about a little wait. Arriving around 10am we were seated right away. They have valet, but there is a good amount of other self parking within a block. Start with some beignets. One order is plenty to share for 2. Two orders for a table of 4 and we were all happy and had a couple left over. The cappuccino sauce kicks them up a notch to fabulous. Perfect crunchy slices of baguette and butter for the table. Brunch dishes are simple and straightforward but solidly prepared and tasty. Honestly, just eggs your way, choice of meat and potatoes hits the spot if you don’t want anything fancier. And the potatoes, ahhh, crunchy, thick chunks of deliciousness. Do not miss these. I’d revisit anytime I had the opportunity.

The 4 stars and pictures of the food made me really want to come here. I came here for brunch with a party of 6 and it was one of the worst brunch experience we have ever had. The host seemed very upset that we had a party of 6 and told us it would at least be an hour. We decided to walk around and came back after 20 minutes and the host was upset with us because he apparently called us during that time. The host was really rude that I was scared at one point to ask him for an update on our table. We finally got seated and I had the beignets and eggs Benedict. The coffee syrup that came with the beignets were a great touch but the beignets tasted just like a donut hole, nothing too great about them. The eggs Benedict were awful. My egg was not poached correctly, it was over cooked. My side of potatoes were extremely burnt and crunchy. What was strange was my friends plate looked well prepared but my plate looked like someone gathered all the leftover potatoes and scattered it on my plate. The ham on the Benedict was extremely dry and unappetizing. The toast that the eggs Benedict was on was burnt and crunchy. Our whole table had over cooked food. Not sure if they were mad at us because we weren’t around when they called for us? Haha. Bottom line — not worth the long wait for brunch especially since there are plenty of fantastic restaurants in that same area.

I met a friend here for Sunday brunch. Brunch prices are reasonable and portions are sized well even for the hungriest of brunchers. My girlfriend had the«create your own» omelette, and I had the omelette provencale. Both dishes come with a side of roasted potatoes. You can tell that they use fresh ingredients, as both omelettes were delicious. Mine was filled with ratatouille vegetables, spinach, and goat cheese. Bacon or ham is extra. Slices of baguette with a small dish of real butter is included. I enjoy nice touches like that. The only thing I didn’t care for is that mimosas are $ 8.50 each! Most of the restaurants near this one do a $ 10 «all you can drink» special during weekend brunch time, but not here. I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of my food because I was too busy running my mouth. LOL! Service was very friendly. I respect a staff that maintain a happy disposition, even during busy times. This restaurant was full when we arrived at noon, but we only had a ½ hour wait time.

We had Valentines dinner at Toulouse tonight. The food was excellent. However we were seated in the covered patio section where the lighting was so dim that we could not determine what we were eating on the charcuterie board. I would have given five stars otherwise. We have dined in the main restaurant in the past where there is sufficient lighting. I would wait for a table in the main dining room rather than accept a table in the dark patio area at night again.

Brunch was amazing! Service was very attentive, friendly and nice. Beignets, mimosas, eggs Benedict all great! Beignets may have even been better then café du monde in New Orleans. Prices are decent, a little high if you come for lunch or dinner but everything we had was really good. Just be aware and take a look online ahead of time if it meets your budget ;) If you are looking for a nice night out or a classier brunch with friends this is definitely a good place to check out.

SuperSexayHubby and I have been here four times, including for his birthday dinner, and I have also brought a girlfriend with me while she was in town. I LOVELOVELOVE this restaurant! We have only visited for dinner, but I heard they do have brunch on the weekends(Sunday only, I think? Verify that!) with Orange French Toast and beignets(504EVER!!!), so I am looking forward to returning for that. Being from New Orleans and having eaten in my all-time French favorite there(La Crêpe Nanou), I was hunting for a local fave after moving to Texas, and this is IT, mes amis! The restaurant is a little worn around the edges, but I happen to love that whole bistro vibe despite it not being shiny and new. The service is ALWAYS on PERNT, and warm and friendly no matter who we’ve met there. Favorites of mine include the Gnocchi(Mon DIEU, the gnocchi are PERFECTLY fried, and the crunch outside gently snaps as your teeth sink into a pillowy potato puff, not to MENTION the fantabulous brown butter-sage-tomato fondue! MMMMPH. Want now plz.), and the Shortrib Bourguignon(ohlala, please, indescribably tender and flavorful). The lobster bisque is yummy, the Croque Madame is… yummy, the crème brûlée and profiteroles are each… YUMMY… I’m sensing a pattern here. The Brie and Wild Mushroom Vol au Vent? ORDERONEFOREVERYPERSONATTHETABLE, because this thing is DELISH, and we were swordfighting with our forks over the pastry crumbs left on the plate. Valet is right out front($ 5), which is RIDIC since there is a parking lot directly across the road, but that’s Dallas for you. Love. Love. Love. Go back as often as I can afford.

I love coming here! Their food is exceptional, we have explored every vegetarian option on the menu, from the gnocchi to the cheese plate. As a French native, this restaurant really reminds me of the Brasserie Parisenne! I highly recommend the cheese plate, the fries with the mayonnaise dijonaise and anything from the dessert menu. I hope you have as good of an experience as I always do.

Had a birthday brunch here this past weekend with friends and this place went beyond what was expected. Started out with beignets and mimosas, one word DELISH! My friends got the eggs florentine and I the French Toast, which we shared. Eggs were perfectly poached on top of a english muffin with bearnaise sauce and lump crab meat. Although I’m not a very big fan of eggs I’ll have to admit the combination was intertwined flawlessly. French Toast were amazingly impeccable, the edges were a little toasty and the added fruit with a hint of orange zest got a two thumbs up from me! Our waiter was a sweetheart, he was very attentive and made sure we did NOT lack anything. The only thing I did not like was that it was very loud because it was packed for Sunday brunch, no matter that I had a great visit.

This place does not take reservations so be aware of it. You enter thru the outdoor seating tables which reminds me of the Cafès in Paris before getting to the maitre d’s podium. Not our first time here — Saturdays at the Knox/Henderson area can be packed but this place is worth it. We first ordered the cheese and fruit plate. A nice start and I must admit I’d already felt full after a few bites. Kelly and Katharine both ordered mussel plates which from what I can tell they really enjoyed. The dish came in a broth which had a good combination of tomatoes and spices. I opted for a black angus burger as I was curious(maybe trying to compare?) given I had just had a burger at The Theodore the night before. No complaints here. It was grilled perfectly. We finished dinner by sharing a chocolate soufflé.

Fabulous! Went here for brunch on a rainy Saturday so we didn’t get to people watch as there weren’t many people on the trail. The beignets were delicious and the highlight of the food we ordered(omelet, eggs/ham/potatoes, steak and eggs). It was my sister’s birthday and our server surprised her with a complimentary crème brûlée. Better yet, it had a large sparkler candle that was intense and raised some heart rates! Definitely recommend and would return.

I have now been here for brunch two times and thought it was delish each time. The belgium waffle is amazing, however I think the orange french toast is even better-super fluffy and soft. The ambience is super cute and feels very French. Eggs dishes are also spectacular. I would also recommend their iced lattes and mimosas. Main cons: Wait can get long on weekends and parking is very difficult!

Terrible service. Good food. These were the best beignets I’ve had. They were super soft and fluffy like clouds! The powered sugar was smooth and evenly layered. I’ve had some at Café du Monde and was never impressed and thought I didn’t like beignets at all. But this place changed my mind. Lobster bisque was okay. Our friends had Belgian waffles and crispy duck legs and liked their dishes. I would have given this place a 4 star but the service brought it down. Our waitress only ever came by to take our order and disappeared for the rest of our meal. I had to flag her down for a dessert menu for our friends birthday. I don’t think she was going to offer us a menu if I didn’t ask. So deduct a star! The music is the worst. It was very techno and loud. So talking in here consisted of yelling. I would prefer a French restaurant to have more French music soft-med volume in the background. Not blaring. I think the only thing I would want to come here for are the beignets. But the service really deterred me. There was a problem with our bill, when we brought it to her attention, she looked peeved and scowled as she walked away to fix it.

From the outside, you can tell that Toulouse Café and Bar is French. The patio area with its woven back chairs remind me of the many cafes you find in Paris — the ones that are made for people watching. Unfortunately, the view is NOT French. In front of the restaurant is a beautiful discounted lamp store that’s going out of business(lol). Everything on the menu sounds d e l i c i o u s, which made it extremely hard for me to make a decision. For drinks, I got the rose cocktail that has strawberry purée and champagne — mine came out a little warm, and it would have tasted better if it was more chill. The strawberry purée tastes fresh and the drink is sweet. I recommend this if you’re a mimosa fan. For starters, my boyfriend and I got the petit gougere, which are tiny cheese pastries that are light and airy. There’s also a hint of truffle flavor(!). I recommend giving these a try if you’ve never had them before — baked so it’s not greasy and light so it won’t fill you up! For entrée, I got the lobster and tomato risotto, which is pretty good, but could have been better. The rice is too big, which reminds me more of jambalaya than risotto. However, I still enjoyed the dish — flavor is on point, but not so much the rice texture. Also, there’s a pretty generous amount of lobster. My boyfriend got the steak tartare dinner, which has more steak than the appetizer, and it also comes with pommes frites. Steak tartare — good, but not the best. Pommes frites — thin & crispy, but not as good as Hopdoddy’s fries. For dessert, I got the vanilla crème brûlée and this is my favorite dish from here! The cream is fresh and chilled! It’s also served with pecan brittle cookies. Pricing is moderate and the food is pretty good. I definitely want to come back to try all the other delicious-sounding selections. Great food, wine and cocktail selection. Additionally, the cute patio seating that looked as if it came straight from Paris makes this a perfect restaurant for a nice night out!

Went here for brunch with the fiancé and a friend while in Dallas for a friend’s wedding. I was pretty satisfied with my visit here. The restaurant is located in Highland Park, a wealthy neighborhood in Dallas, that is very walker friendly and surrounded by restaurants, shops, and beautiful houses. We got a spot on the patio, a perfect place for Dallas people watching. The menu has a large variety of noms to choose from. Toulouse definitely gets an extra star for having beignets and soufflés on their menu. FOOD: My fiancé and I ordered the goat cheese tart for an appetizer. It was very light and tasty. If you like goat cheese and arugula, this appetizer is for you. We also ordered the steak and fries. It wasn’t the best steak I’ve had, but I was pretty satisfied with it and I remember the price being pretty reasonable for the portion size. We were able to share it. The fries are kind of a let down here though. They were brown with no special seasoning and not super crispy. They were okay when paired with the aoili sauce. Now for dessert. We shared the beignets with the cappuccino sauce and the chocolate soufflé with a friend. Both desserts were reasonably priced. I liked the beignets more than the chocolate soufflé. The cappuccino dipping sauce was tasty and beignets were cooked pretty well. The chocolate soufflé was humongous, but the texture of the filling was kind of marshmallowy. It was good, but I wasn’t blown away. Service was pretty decent here and it didn’t take too long to get our food. Overall, I definitely don’t mind coming back here and trying more things on the menu. Pretty good unique food at a reasonable price. Another aside: Go for a walk in Highland Park or the trail after your meal and check out all the pretty houses :).

Toulouse Café and Bar is a French restaurant in Dallas where you can get soufflés, beignets, & mussels. I love brunch, and this review focuses on their awesome brunch menu. My Overall Rating — 4 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — On a pretty day, Toulouse really shines. There’s an outdoor patio area that’s made for brunch mornings, and inside you’ll find a small but warm restaurant. It’s a good mixture of classic and modern, and it certainly makes you feel like you’re in a restaurant that pays attention to details. You’ll get a great New Orleans vibe here. 1 Star. Service — Great service here. The staff was fast, prompt, and best of all knowledgeable about the menu. I love it when the staff know what to recommend. Even if they recommend the same thing to everyone at least have an opinion. We had several members helping our party of 7 and everything was perfect. 1 Star. Food — I’m a sucker for putting a fried egg on a sandwich, so of course the Croque Madame is what I order. It had smoky ham, melted cheese, my egg and it was delicious. The bread held up well and wasn’t too tough like some sourdough slices can be. The fries at Toulouse are excellent as well. These are thin, shoestring, seasoned, and impossible not to finish. My wife loves their steamed mussels, and the broth is perfect for dipping the toast points. The only thing that was a minor disappointment were the beignets. They weren’t as light as I expected. But it was nice to at least have a place that serves beignets. 1 ½ Stars. Will I Return? — Probably. Toulouse Café and Bar is an awesome spot with a great French menu. It’s not cheap, but if you’re looking for a good brunch spot I definitely would give them a look. ½ Stars. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

Toulouse has been around for more than ten years and given that reason, the French café being able to survive this long tells me that they have done a terrific job keeping fickle clientele, especially Dallas crowd, satisfied. I love this location and their extended hours of operations. It has awesome brunch, lunch and dinner selections. Also you can bring your four legged friends to dine at the patio area. Great atmosphere and people watching as it is adjacent to Katy trail. We came here for dinner and ordered gougeres for appetizer, it’s a cheese pastry that tasted like mini croissant, and I wasn’t able to keep my hand off by continuing to eating all of them. For entrée, I had the roast chicken which came with frites. The chicken was juicy and tender plus the sauce that came with it was delicious! My wife chose the pan seared Scottish salmon that came with artichoke, olives and tomato. She loved her dish very much!

One of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. The food here is spectacular. Very tasty and creative pairings of food and their specials are always delicious. The menu has amazing options from fish to steak. They also have great salads and everything is priced right. My favorite thing to order is the duck. It is soo yummy! The service is top notch and it is never too crowded. You can usually be seated right away, or if not within about 10 minutes from my experiences. All in all, I love coming here, it’s always a treat!
