Great for some exercise. Can get crowded around peak hours but much of the trail has dual paths

It’s simply the place to be. Run, walk, rollerblade, bike, and oh the epic people watching… all types of exercising can be found here. Some of the more extreme things I have seen from time to time: unicycling, jogging backwards, hand walking, make out sessions on the side, and there is the one jacked guy who has the moving elliptical. Then there are the stray cats… who are fed regularly by a group of volunteers. Needless to say, a lot to do and even more to be seen. Get out there and join us!

I love the Katy Trail. I usually park here at the Knox Street entrance, and go to the American Airlines Center which is 5 ½ miles roundtrip.

Great place to spend your Saturday morning for a walk or run. We have been coming out here lately as hubs in training for the Dallas Marathon(go ‘head baby!) and I’m training for my next 5K… hey, I just started running this year, give me some time! Anyways, love this trail because it has plenty of shade as well as benches for when i get tired or need to stretch. Water fountains on the way are nice too, even if the water gets a little warm when the sun is out.

I have mixed feelings about the trail personally, but is really nice for what it is(a paved metro trail for walkers and bikers). My idea of a trail is more leisurely walk with few people around in a wooded area. This is not that at all. Was walking with the family and passers were all courteous. It is a nice walk if you are already in the area. I could definitely see using it to jog if I lived on the trail. I like to bike a bit faster than this trail woulf alow.

I am so happy they cleaned up this area. I worked at the Dallas Theater Center years ago and a few tragedies happened on the Katy Trail. But not to worry, it is safe and a pleasure to walk/run. I was out filming and no one freaked(glad of that)! If I was in the exercising mood, this is the place I would do it on a regular basis. But I’m not that disciplined! LOL! Anyhoo, when nature calls…

Ahhhh. The Katy Trail in Dallas, What a beautiful place to be. Lots of shade to keep you cool From overlapping trees. For different speeds; two paths to choose, A «pedestrian lane» and«faster cruise». From one end to the other is about a 3.5 mile hike, You should try it running or riding on your bike. You will see people with dogs; I once saw a horse, And always remember to drink adequate water of course!

Katy Trail is a popular and wonderful part of Dallas. Because it can get so crowded, it is important to know and to follow proper etiquette. For much of the trail there are two paths, one for walking/jogging(soft track surface), the other for bicycling and other wheeled transport(concrete). Make sure you use the appropriate path at all times. Also, make sure you never walk more than two across and keep to the far right at all times. It is basic courtesy and for your and others’ safety.
