I was here once earlier last year, the service was decent but as far as the steaks go I’ve had better. You can do worse but you can do better too…

Silver fox is a pass. Steak and seafood bisque were excellent, lobster tail was on the overcooked side, but service was shockingly sub par. Very hands off. Felt like somewhere in new york if you’ve been there. 3 waiters for 18 tables. Multiple service errors made it laughable. Two separate couples walked out after waiting over half an hour wothout being served so much as a glass of wine, within the span of about 5 minutes because of server neglect(despite one of those couples actually ordering a bottle of wine and not getting it). We were offered a second desert on the house to go as we were handed our check. No thanks.

We checked this place out Saturday night at 6:30 and we were the only ones in the restaurant. When we left there were maybe 4 tables occupied in the whole place. The food was pretty good, our server was a lot of fun and the atmosphere was your typical, dark steakhouse. Not sure how this place makes it, but guessing it is a business crowd during the week.

I usually don’t go to steakhouses because I spend all my money on action figures(am I joking? hmmmm…), but I did get a gift card to Silverfox from a fellow associate. So I said let’s try our biannual steak here. Me and fellow Unilocaler Tori came here. If you drive by, you can’t really tell if the place is busy. When we walked in, the place was not bustling at all. It had a quiet dark feel to it, but really casual. I like that. The waitstaff was really friendly, almost acting strange with us though. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Anywho, here is the down low. The food we got, III forks salad, fillet, sea bass, and crème brûlée. As I say in many of my reviews, I am no expert. My reviews offer the opinion of the average layman who can be somewhat intelligent sometimes. Everything was really solid. The fillet melted in my mouth, the Sea Bass was really fresh. There is something about that III forks salad that is amazing. It is the perfect starter, isn’t it? There are a lot of great steakhouses in Dallas. This is one of them, but the competition is fierce. If you’re looking for a casual simple steak experience, definitely come here. If you’re looking for a more lavish, ritzier experience, try elsewhere. You won’t be disappointed by the food here though, I assure you!

In case you didn’t know, Silver Fox is somehow related to III Forks. Much like when you date your ex’s brother, they look similar and have similar offerings, but one definitely is better than the other. And the better one is unfortunately not Silver Fox… (PS I’ve never dated my ex’s brother… cousin, maybe — brother, no.) I went last night for a dinner sponsored by a company(and where I was the speaker… yeehaw). We were seated in a decent sized private room that had wine storage in the back to give it that steakhouse ambiance. First off I’m going to give props where props are due. THOSEFREAKINPICKLES at the start!!! GAH! If I hadn’t been at a work related function I would have finished all the bowls in sight. Apparently they are bread and butter pickles with some horseradish? Whatever they are, I love them! I had the III Forks salad after polishing off some pickles. See what I mean? They even call it III Forks salad right on the Silver Fox menu. And yeah, very SIMILAR to III Forks salad but for some reason it is just not as good. I can’t pinpoint what it is but when I go to III Forks I lick the salad plate clean and here I just don’t care. I had the 10 oz filet — medium rare — for dinner. I am not sure if this is just because of the large group we had or if they do this like III Forks does, but the sides came on the plate with the steak: creamed corn, sugar snap peas, and whipped potatoes. The steak was cooked nicely but it just tasted… ok. Not really much flavor or anything special really. Again, it is hard to pinpoint exactly why this place cannot trump III Forks or any other steakhouse in my mind but… it. just. can’t. The menu offers different sauces for your steak(for $ 4 even!) so maybe it is meant to have sauce with, I have no idea. Creamed corn was pretty good, potatoes were pretty much potatoes, and the sugar snap peas were ok. Dessert was some sort of cake that was like an Italian cream cake. This, along with the pickles, was easily the best part of the meal. The icing was thick and rich and completely YUMMERS! The service was friendly and our waiters were funny, although one of them looked slightly offended when they requested a different red wine(the one we were drinking tasted like… hrmm…rubbing alcohol?). But he did replace it and the second one was much better. I guess I would recommend Silver Fox as a steakhouse to go to if you are too lazy to drive up north and go to III Forks, Pappas, or Del Friscos. But don’t expect to be wowed, just expect alright food with some polished service.

This restaurant was a really nice surprise. We went over the weekend for a family member’s birthday party and had a fantastic time. It is dark and elegant, just like a steakhouse should be. Every course was amazing, but nothing could hold a candle to the filet I had. Mmmmmm… meat. It was cooked a perfect medium and melted in my mouth. Me likey. The dessert selection was very nice, I opted for the pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream. Hello heaven. Our primary server was funny and on the ball, and the team he had helping him was great as well. We never had empty drinks, which is important when dealing with family functions. There were at least 25 of us in the party, keeping 25 people happy is quite a feat. Parking was weird and I am not sure if they have valet or not, it looked like the building did, but we opted to self park in the creepy garage. There are two entrances, one on the street and one in the center of the building. I didn’t pick up the bill(thank goodness) so I can’t comment on the prices, but I dare say I would be willing to pay a lot for another bite of that filet.

We dined at Silverfox on Saturday, 8÷15÷09, for Restaurant Week. I thought the food served during Restaurant Week was suppose to be representative of what they served on their regular menu. Totally wrong. The options were beef tenderloin or salmon. The beef was served as 3 very thin slices with a very salty dark sauce poured over it. The salmon was dry. The dessert was a joke. The slices were paper thin(chocolate cake, cheesecake, or some pecan type dessert). They totally skimped out on the slices, kind of pathetic. That was my first time at Silverfox and will be my last. If you want to dine at a nice steakhouse for Restaurant Week, try Perry’s. Their Restaurant Week menu is very extensive and they don’t skimp out on your portions. Additional note — Silverfox and III Forks are the same owner, so the Restaurant Week menu is the same there(different dessert options and the fish was Mahi Mahi at III Forks). I do not recommend.

I ate here for the first time last night for Valentine’s Day and I must say that I was very impressed. The service was excellent and very helpful. We never had to wait long for anyone to help us(and the place was packed, too). The filet mignon, seafood bisque, and sauteed spinach were excellent. The filet was cooked perfectly… it had a nice, crisp outside and the inside was cooked exactly to my liking(and very tender).

Understated, elegant and comfortably pervasive. Three memorable dining experiences — a celebration dinner, a business lunch last summer, a business dinner tonight. I have high expectations that have consistently been met. First experience was a lunch with clients; everyone at the table had an above expectation experience. Food was not the typical lunch fare for Dallas and the attention from the waiter was just right. Not hovering, but waited patiently for the conversation to break so he could determine the next service, didn’t intrude in to our conversation and got everything right. Seem to remember hearing that they are not doing lunch now but could be wrong. Came back with five women for dinner in celebration of my daughter’s MBA graduation. Same level of attention without being intrusive. Restaurant was busy on a weekend and we still had a server and a backup guy(seemed more like a server than a busman) overseeing our table. We spilled a glass of red when we got a little too animated, ruining the linens. Three waiters immediately swooped in to make the evidence disappear. Covered the spots with other linens and brought another dish to replace the one that was swimming in Cabernet. Tonight, ate in the bar and then got out the laptop to finish some work that had to be sent to the Ethernet. Comfortably attentive service, fine food. Thought the Pomegranate Martini was just right, not a sickly sweet girl drink, and not pallid. Enough fruit for flavor and I knew it was a martini. The mashed potatoes could have been warmer, but our server Ed remedied that by bringing an extra serving to ensure we were happy. I always appreciate it when the entrees come with potatoes and veggies in a steak house. I do not like to order the family-style side dishes no one else wants to share. Here they arrive with your entrée and the fresh tomato slices and crisp green onions finish the course if you choose. If it is early enough or if the day starts late enough tomorrow, order cappuccinos and have a desert as you enjoy your company. Conversation with Superperson was stimulating, making the time fly as we exchanged vignettes and enjoyed the gastronomy. One incident marred the evening but it had nothing to do with the restaurant. A couple of girls had called in a to-go order, mistaking the restaurant for a Chili’s style place. They were evidently irritated that it wasn’t delivered to them at the curb and came in for a temper tantrum; one of them accosting me on my way to the powder room thinking I had something to do with the fact that their food wasn’t ‘ready made.’ Called the wait staff spiteful epithets, and finally left. Can’t ever figure that type of behavior in a 30-yr old. Still the staff did their best to ensure that patrons were taken care of and offered beverages to salve the embarrassment we felt — the refreshing coconut/fruit after-dinner drink that you remember from the last time you dined with them. Cory out front remembers you with a smile to ensure you come and go with nice memories. He does his best to have your car there when you are ready if he can given the crowd.

I had the pleasure of dining here one weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. It is easygoing and not intimidating. In this location of a chain steakhouse, I guess the distinguishing aspect is the extra swish in the waiters. After the«Silver Fox» salad vinaigrette — delicious though a bit soggy — I had the rack of lamb which is not as big as it sounds(about 8 – 10 mouthfuls). I had it with whipped potatoes and vegetables. Did I mention the pickles? While you wait for you food there’s bread and and there are these pickle slices that are addictive, as the waiter warned. They are more sweet than salty or sour, and you will probably eat every one of them. Save it to go with your meal. It’s refreshing. Watch out for the salt. There were some pockets of salt on my meat that surprised me and kind of ruined that particular bite. Same goes for the tomatoes. They just sprinkled too much on there. They just need to be confident about letting the natural flavor of the food come out. The experience was good. The waiter was nice and friendly. This restaurant is in a good location for having some fun after the meal.
