Rusty Tacos is a great place to go if you want to some quick bites in North Dallas. It’s conveniently located in the district of the SMU area off of Greenville and University Blvd. Rusty Tacos has an intimate feel to the restaurant. They have a nice patio and eating area with plenty of seating inside and outside. It isn’t a real fancy joint but its pretty squeaky clean, which I can appreciate! They have a lot of great flavors and different types of tacos to choose from. You can get breakfast tacos, to chicken fajita, fried chicken, fried fish, grilled fish, brisket and many more. The tacos are cheap and they come out really fast! I normally get 3 tacos because they are pretty small. If you just want a quick bite to eat and are looking for a new Taco Tuesday spot, check out Rusty Tacos!

I tried 6 different tacos and all meats were super dry. I can not recommend.

I went there last weekend. About noonish. I ordered a fried chicken taco and a brisket taco and lone star beer. Well let’s just say everything was very cold! Beer was cold as ice. Super good! Tacos were cold. I mean, come on. You say they are fresh. But my tacos were not hot at all. Most likely were cooked 2 hours ago. Not impressed. I would go back… but only if I could pay at the end of my lunch!

Cool and fun place, but no match for the food of Torchy’s in other parts of Texas. I had a breakfast taco, chicken fajita, and another with pork, and it was all decent, but nothing I would write home about. Good place for a quick lunch.

Five stars for one of my favorite taco place is in Dallas. While I like Torchy’s, rusty taco is like the smaller, cheaper, faster, and tastier version. They will refill your chips as many times as you ask and you can fill up on about 2 – 3 small tacos. My personal favorite is the fried chicken taco, but I regularly get the picadillo taco as well. The chips and queso are also a good choice. If you want a good taco joint on a budget, stop here. Oh, and they have a handful of beers if you’re the beer drinking kind!

I came here with my friend and ordered the beef fajita and baja shrimp. I liked the beef fajita — it’s very good, but not particularly outstanding in comparison to other taco places, and my friend and I didn’t like the baja shrimp. There’s something in there that just tastes very strong and stinky, and it would definitely be a great option for someone looking for a strong taste/aftertaste or a more exotic flavor, but it’s just not my thing. The service is nice here and the food comes quickly, and the setting is super casual. You will most likely have to order two since they come in very tiny portions. I’m not sure if I’d come again but I recommend this place for people looking for a quick eat!

Delicious quick and convenient. Order 100% correct! All varieties are recommended from the breakfast tacos(get everything — potato, egg, meat, cheese — and add salsa and crema) to the brisket, fish, vegetarian, pork, shrimp, Picadillo, and the quesadillas. Corn and flour tortillas are equally good, though the flour hold up better for breakfast. I’d suggest the adding the cilantro and onion. This is a quick corner taco joint, if you are looking for a gourmet Mexican or Tex-mex experience it’s not the place. If you want some good yummy tacos to curb your craving this is for you.

Food was sub par, to go order was wrong when we got home, guy at register had no clue and had a piss poor attitude, and what in the hell are these tiny tacos? I opened the bag to what looked like a foil wrapped brownie… and why did we get two tortillas per taco? Its not like theres enough inside to split them up After eating two tacos I feel like i hadn’t even eaten a real meal. WAYYYYTOMUCHHYPEOVERTHISPLACE… I thought this place was going to be a new Torchy’s Tacos(Austin) or Taco Shack(Austin) type place for us since were new to Dallas, but thats a big negative. I will not be returning because lets face it i can go to a number of other places and get a better result.

So as everyone has said before me, the parking sucks here! Now on to the food! We ordered 2 shrimp tacos, a beef fajita one and a chicken fajita one as well! Personally I like the beef the best, it really reminded me of ghetto tacos. The beef was nice and flavorful, the only problem is that there really is not texture diff. The beef is soft, the onions are soft and the tortilla is soft… there needs to be something diff because it gets mushy after you eat more than 2 bites! the shrimp was good as well but there was way to much sauce. idk if the shrimp is fresh but it’s cooked nicely with a crispy shell and putting the amount of sauce on top makes the shrimp soggy if it sits too long. Also the sause overpowered the rest of the other flavors. The chicken was okay, it was a little on the dry side but it was okay. As somewhere I have heard amazing things about and been dying to try. It was just okay. It could be better but it’s Def better than Fuzzy ’ s. I would come back if I was in the area.

First off the parking situation is terrible, but it is terrible at a lot of places nearby so I can’t hold that too much against them. The tacos are decent price, maybe a little more expensive when compared to other places with this style and size like Fuzzys. Service was super quick and there was plenty of areas to sit. I love the large patio, not the best ambiance on a busy road, but better then being inside. My husband really likes the fish and shrimp tacos so I gave an extra star for that. I tried completely different tacos and maybe that was mistake. The chips and queso were decent, again my husband really likes the queso but I thought it was just okay. I got the roasted pork taco, fajita steak taco and brisket taco. I thought all of them were just okay, lacking depth of flavor on all three. There were much better with the addition of habanero hot sauce. Generally, I thought it was decent for quick tacos, but there are several places in Dallas I like more.

A staple, Rusty Taco hit home for those who like tacos. And, you better like tacos because there isn’t much else on the menu. It’s a great place to come if you’re in the mood for tacos, that are fresher, more authentic and better for you than those at Taco Bell, Taco Bueno, Del Taco and Taco Del Mar. The downfall is options. Unless you want tacos, this isn’t the place for you. Meanwhile, for those in the mood for a snack, quick lunch or a evening bite, the taco here are easy to shove down, because they are affordable and tasty. Their salsa is darn good, too, and people obviously love their queso. The guacamole is average, at best.

Good tacos, good ingredients, friendly staff. These were the first tacos I had in Dallas, and I will definitely be going back for more. Everything was well made. I especially enjoyed the pulled pork tacos and steak fajita taco. The food was presented well, and was pleasing to look at as it was tasty. I ordered another one, also. It was well made but was a flavor profile I didn’t enjoy overly much, but that’s my issue not an issue with the food. The price was right, and one would probably want to order two or three tacos for a meal. We also had chips and salsa. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. The outdoor seating is nice, and covered.

Being from California, I always miss fish tacos while I’m in Dallas. Luckily, I recently discovered that Rusty Taco has amazing fish tacos! They are a little small, so I recommend ordering 3. They are soooo good! For dessert, I get the peach dessert taco. OMG. SOGOOD. It’s like a deep fried empanada with a peach filling and cinnamon sugar on top. GETIT.

Cheap, fast, low priced, and freshly made just for you. What more can you ask for? Rusty Taco offers lunch and breakfast tacos. The tacos are small but priced very low so you feel no guilt ordering a few of them. My personal favorite are the baja shrimp tacos which have the most perfect sauce. Far better than the Torchy’s equivalent in my opinion… primarily for the sauce. Torchy’s has a larger shrimp taco and adds pickled onions to theirs, but the sauce on this Rusty version is something I dream about. The place has an extremely hipster vibe to it. This place would fit in well in Austin or SF. The seating is a bit weird… either barstools or these extremely long tables which you have to share with other people. Plenty of outdoor seating which is a bit silly because it’s Texas… nobody sits outdoors unless it’s that one week of the year in which that is possible. For the price point, it’s a great location. Prices per taco range between $ 2 and 3. They also have decent chips & salsa. I have never tried their queso but imagine it would have a hard time comparing to Torchy’s. They have a basket of little pre-packaged hot sauces & salsas to choose from to compliment their tacos. I am enamored with their habanero sauce. It is super hot but it is just the perfect flavor. I water it down with the mild salsas to enjoy it. They serve coke products in the fountain and have sugar cane sodas in bottles available. Parking here can be a challenge at 12:30 during the lunch rush. The parking lot out front is odd… so BEWARE when leaving your parking space. It may look like there’s a ramp down to the street where you expect it but there is not! The ramp is unusually placed near the corner of the intersection so I constantly see cars flying off the curb trying to get out of the strangely shaped front parking lot.
