I like the idea but there’s nothing amazing about the menus options. I’ve been here a few times since it opened and I just can find anything I’m crazy about. I can get a better baked potato somewhere else. I noticed a few reviews stated it is Chipotle style. That is incorrect. Chipotle has various ingredients to choose from and you customize your own. Here they have a set menus of 9 different potato options. You can choose sweet vs plain potato and add additional ingredients but the toppings are very limited to what is in those 9 menus options.

Really neat idea and I love the location. Interior was clean and spacious. Lunch was not packed at all. Also very reasonable prices. I got the thanksgiving style potato and it was pretty good. It was a little too bland for my liking, but portion size was huge! My friend got the hamburger style potato and it was MUCH better. I loved the cheesy/goeey hamburger bites and he added bacon, which was awesome. I’ll definitely get the hamburger/chili one next time.

I love a good baked patato. And not much can go wrong here. Good selection and it is a generous amount. They have special selections on the menus but you can also customize your potato to your choice. I got a basic potato with a bunch of cheese and chives and sour cream.. Interesting place

Yeah man! This place is awesome! They serve up baked potatoes in some different styles. I have tried the #3 Chicken fried steak that was amazing! Just tried the #9 Thanksgiving everyday on a sweet potato and it was really good as well. I like this place because its very quick and the food is great. Extra props to the staff their for being friendly, answering my stupid questions and making great suggestions on what to add to my flat! Great place for lunch!

So I enjoy a good baked potato as much as the next guy and about the only time I have it is usually roped with BBQ chopped beef and sauce. So I figured I’d enjoy this place. Make your own or order from preset options, I got the #4 Creamed Beef on a regular potato(you can get a sweet potato for no extra cost). Assembly is similar to subway/chipotle style, everything Premade is piled on top of the now flattened-in-a-plate baked potato. It was hot and filling. Flavors? Mild is a nice word for it. It was an experience. I probably will not be back though.

Potatoes. Quite possibly one of the simplest, yet ridiculously versatile foods. So, of course, I was ecstatic when I first heard the idea of Potato Flats and ventured out to the backside of Trinity Groves. I’ve been back a handful of times, and each time there has been a problem. First off, they have ridiculous hours. 11 – 3 everyday? When are you supposed to make it there? I work downtown, probably less than 10 minute drive, but that would still be impossible. Second, literally every time I’ve been, they’ve been out of something major. For instance WHITEPOTATOES. How are you going to have unreasonable hours, an awkward location, and then, after someone fights tooth and nail to get there, you’re out of basic potatoes? I mean, come on guys, you’re called POTATO Flats… The other problem is that they seem so erratic, menu-wise. They originally had lighter options, which incorporated seafood — which is great for Pescaterians or someone just wanting a neo-chowder experience, but while it remained on the menu, it was almost never available and ultimately removed following a «revamp» of the menu. Fun fact — instead of chowder, they now offer something called«creamed beef»… Lastly, the customer service«flat» out sucks. The people behind the counter are leaning against things, twirling their hair and act annoyed when they’re out of green onions and you request some — honestly, chopping green onions isn’t a life-ender.also.isn’t that part of your job? #rude Don’t get me wrong, it’s hard to f*ck up a potato… and when(if ever) these guys are fully prepared for a customer or two, it’s awesome. I really do love the concept and the product(when available), but I won’t be coming back. Too many chances, too much failure. Get better customer service, PR, reasonable hours and a more inclusive menu and I might be back.

Oh man, I really love sweet potatoes and this place dresses them up the way I like it! This is probably the cheapest and healthiest eat in all of Trinity Groves. It’s a shame that it’s in the back corner of the hub too because I feel like this place does not have the reputation it deserves. It’s honest basic food here. No magic wand, no crème fraîche, no «I’m trying too hard to be different»! Ordering is all Chipotle style. There are spud ideas you can order from or you can choose how healthy or artery clogging you want your potato to be. They have regular or sweet potatoes to choose from before that smash it in this awesome machine that makes it flatter. You can also choose what kind of meat and veggies you want, even sauce(remember your waistline)! The perfect sweet potato for me was topped with freshly sliced turkey, peas, carrots, mushrooms and a spoonful of cranberry sauce! The veggies were lightly sautéed but still fresh tasting enough so that you don’t feel like a bag of garbage after you eat it. After thinking about it, I guess I could have made what I ordered at home. Bah, but who wants to work that hard anyway?! The sweet potato was so soft and unaltered with butter or salt. It didn’t need to be! I wouldn’t say this is the place to impress your hot date. There’s no «wow, fancy» factor. It’s much more laid back than many of the surrounding restaurants, but when you just have a craving for a simple hot potato and fixin’s, you should definitely come here!

You can get a sweet or regular potato! Pretty interesting concept restaurant that’s a newcomer onto the Trinity Groves scene. There is a menu with various types of potato flats you can get for a little under $ 10, but you can also customize your own. Once you choose between regular or sweet potato, your potato connoisseur will smash your potato flat and then load it up with delicious toppings. This is the hallmark of the restaurant, but you can also order potato soup and I think I remember seeing potato ice cream(interesting…). There were quite a few people sitting on the patio as well as inside. Being a new place, it sure had a decent lunch crowd on a Thursday at noon. I ended up getting the chili cheese potato flat, which is what the guy behind the counter recommended. I skipped the butter, but got two types of cheese, a liquid cheese and shredded cheddar cheese to top it off. I also got jalapenos and chives to top it off. It was quick to order as they make it right in front of you(think Chipotle). I honestly wasn’t expecting much. But it exceeded my expectations. All the carbs in the potato were filling and the toppings were delicious. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and finished the whole potato. Yum — gonna have to hit that elliptical tonight. Even though it was good, I thought it was a bit pricey for basically a baked potato with some toppings. Regardless, fun place to go with some friends.

Meh, meh, meh! Nothing spudalicious about this place. The concept was very intriguing to me because I love potatoes, but the flavor and customer service was a bore. I decided to give it a try during lunch on a week day. I walked in to see very few customers during a time I would expect them to be busy. I walked up to the menu and began my search for a tasty spud. The gentleman behind the counter kept asking me white or sweet potato? Finally, I said I haven’t been hear before give me a second. Since I’m a vegetarian I decided to make my own potato. I decided on a white potato, which was a perfect size. Their veggie options are ok. Sautéed mushrooms, peas, broccoli, onions and peppers. I could tell the broccoli was frozen and I got mostly hard stems. Yuck! In my opinion this place needs to offer fresher veggie options, such as fresh steamed broccoli. No frozen junk. I believe they also need to step up their customer service and be more helpful and engage with the customer more. I left a disappointed, but I may give it another try in the future.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon, and I was a little shocked there were no customers! I will defiantly come back, I loved the concept, and I loved the menu choices! My Visit: ordered the Cheese Burger Backed Potato Flat and got to taste the Italian Fried Baked Potato. This is somewhere I can come with my laptop, not a hang out with friends. Pros: The baked potato concept was a great idea, and the backed potato selections were super creative. Cons: It was so dead, even the staff seemed tired, but their only open a few hours. Also I thought it was going to be self serve so I could build my own potato, but yes its more like a Chipotle.

Potato Flats has a great concept for lunch! Customers walk through a line and select ingredients to put on top of their sweet or white potato in a system similar to Chipotle. I’ve tried the«Chicken ala King» and the«Steak potato», which are suggested meals at the restaurant, and thought they tasted fine. It wasn’t anything overwhelming and honestly tasted a little bit bland. I think it would have been a better if I had opted to add other ingredients to my meal but I always trust that the menu choices are the way to go! The staff were a little pushy and made the process a little bit confusing. When I walked in the lady asked me 3 times in a row what kind of potato I wanted after I told her I was still looking and didn’t know. Then once I settled on getting the steak potato that came with gravy, steak, mushrooms, and bleu cheese, the employees on the service line kept asking me what I wanted on it. Not a huge deal but when I order something off a menu I usually expect them to know what to put on it. Potato Flats is the only restaurant of its kind, as far as I know, in the area. Its a cool concept and made for an enjoyable lunch. I probably will go back! I just hope that they are able to iron out a few things as they become more established.

Sweet little potato, lol I had the white one. With steak. Pretty good for a quick lunch. Next time I’ll do a custom one. Nice and clean, but it’s missing something like sides and desserts. They only have flattened potatoes with toppings, or fried, and drinks.

Potato Flats to me is good basic food served Chipotle style. Nothing fancy, no exotic spices, but the quality is good and the portion will fill you up. Who doesn’t love a good baked potato? The price is a little steep but I can’t think of another casual fast food place where the entrée comes with three servings of vegetables. The atmosphere is clean and casual and they play blues type music but not so loud that you can’t carry on a normal conversation. The other great thing about this place is there are so many combinations to try that you could eat here for a week and not order the same thing twice.

I love this idea! In Mexico, most taquerias now serve baked potatoes loaded with meats. I thought this might be a take on that. It sort of is, but I found some details to be off. We went there on an Tuesday at 5:15pm, when there’s never any sort of rush. There were 4 people behind the counter. The first guy we encountered was quick. After that, a young, probably new girl had no idea what she was doing. I had ordered the«steak and potato», and she could’ve easily read the ingredients(4 or 5 very basic ones) off the menu on the wall, but she kept asking the other guy what she was supposed to do. After, we encountered a third lady at the register. This all needs to be a little bit more streamlined, especially if there are employees just hanging around in the back idly. As for the food, I kind if expected more. I kept sprinkling salt and pepper on my concoction. The roast beef was good, the gravy not so much. I think this place is missing what Hoffman Hots has, flavor-wise. Overall a pleasant experience, though I think next time I’ll just make up my own creation. The place is really nice, though. And 2 «steak and potatoes», plus 2 fountain drinks came up to around $ 25.

Such an amazing concept — a make your own loaded baked potato(white or sweet)! I asked the staff which was their favorite and they pointed me in the direction of the cheeseburger… holy moly was that delicious! Ground beef, cheese, pickle relish, brocccoli, carrots all in a squashed baked potato… yum! All of the different options sounded and looked delicious. This is definitely a be back place!

We went on fourth of July before we headed out to a fireworks show. Everyone was friendly and helpful but the food was really lacking for the price. The toppings were all very bland and nothing really popped. I might try again and see if I just need to find the right mix of ingredients. As a concept it’s not bad, but I hope they work out the food.

We visited on opening day. I’m not INLOVE with their concept the same way that I’m in love and crave Chipotle on a regular basis, but it was definitely tasty and we’ll be back. I agree with some of the other reviews that they’re a little stingy with the toppings, but that could simply be an opening day quirk that they’re working out. I haven’t been a second time, but most likely will soon.

Ideal is brilliant… execution, not so much. I came here on opening day and was underwhelmed with topping choices, quality and overall presentation. As far as the taste goes… ehh it’s a baked potato… they all taste the same… especially if you just get it with the stuff you like *shrugs*. Nothing note-worthy. Even the staff seemed to be bored. Lol. There just wasn’t anything special about this place. I’d love to see them do something to stand out or be unique. Don’t get me wrong… It wasn’t bad… it just wasn’t worth $ 9+.
