My wife and I had a nice romantic meal here that showed signs of improvement with every plate we had. Appreciate the Tapas and ensure you abandon some space for desert. They had a decent wine menu which prompted a pleasant sentimental supper. A short time later we went for a walk around the Trinity strolling span which was exceptionally decent.

We love the food, the waitstaff, the ambiance, etc. However, the manager is a total dick. We’ve dined here several times and enjoyed it, but tonight we were dressed for a geeky event we were headed to after dinner. He was oh so «subtle» in his disdain of our appearance. It seemed as if he thought it was a privilege that he was allowing us to dine at his establishment. We will be thinking long and hard about whether we will return.

Great food awful service. Tried to get a table. Was told they were booked when there were 4 tables open. No one ever was sat at 3 of those tables during our meal. Part of our order never came either. I had to personally go get a menu for me and my sister to even order anything. At the end we were thanked for all of our patience. But this was just a hot mess. I wouldn’t return just based on the awful service. Too bad bc the food was great.

Food was good but the service was really poor. We didn’t have a reservation so we sat at the bar and neither the host nor bartender gave us a menu. We had to walk up to the host and ask for Menus. The bartender Moses also walked by us multiple times before speaking to us even though he wasn’t that busy. A simple«I’ll be right with you» would have gone a long way… also many tables stayed empty the hour we were there even though we were told they were booked up. We also ordered bread that we were never given. We ordered the scallops and short ribs which were great but very small portions for the price. We also ordered the apple dessert which were basically donut holes. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. It was expensive with small portions and rude service.

Wow. Do you want to impress a date? Take her here. The service was outstanding. The venue feels cozy but not too tight. The charcuterie and cheese board was phenomenal. We made our own out of 3 selections of meats and 3 cheeses. That plus a bottle of wine and the crispy artichokes and we were set for dinner. Don’t miss the Manchego cheese or the fancy ham option. This is a solid date night spot and I can’t wait to come back and try more of the Spanish food.

Saturday night found us here with awesome friends. Somewhat small but very cozy place with food larger than life. We did the meat and cheese tasting boards to start(because sharing is what tapas is all about). We all shared an appetizer(the name escapes me) but there was crab involved and it was perfect. For our entrees we spread it around and tried the milked poached chicken, lamb, gulf coast shrimp, maitake mushrooms and the sea scallops. The food was wonderful — flavorful, very well done and nicely presented. I am definitely keeping Casa Rubia bookmarked for my next trip to Dallas.

I’m glad I got to check this restaurant out as it took me back to when I was in Barcelona. I had an incredible time eating so many delicious tapas in Spain and I was nostalgic having my meal at Casa Rubia. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was perfect as well. Jamon Serrano($ 9) with Manchego cheese($ 7) — This is what the server recommended and it was good. I have a bit of food FOMO that I didn’t try some of the other charcuterias. Boquerones($ 9) — Spanish Anchovies, 2-Minute Quail Eggs Piperade, Herb Olive Oil — Delicious and the yolk on the quail eggs were perfect! I am hardcore about the perfect egg yolk and this delivered!

This place is fantastic. Multiple refined flavors layered into each dish. I have had everything on menu and nothing has disappointed. It’s tapas so meant for sharing. Great to go with a big group. Service has always been great every time. Just solid and I’m glad they are in Trinity Groves.

Amazing dinner. But first let me start with this. If anyone wants to give this place minimal rankings for the price, you need to understand it’s a $$$ restaraunt and its tapas. So you’re going to get smaller plates of food and pay a decent price. Now for the review. My girlfriend and I arrived an hour early so we sat at the bar and had a few drinks. I kept seeing cheese/meat plates coming out. I had the bartender pick two meats and a cheese for us. The Serrano jamon was delicious and the chorizo was ok at best. I forgot which cheese we got but it was good. The plate also came with a fig spread and a pear spread both of which were great. It came in right around $ 25 but it was a good app to hold us over while we waited for our reservation and then the wait for the food. Drinks were good but nothing special, and it was quite limited in their«specialty» selection. Dinner was by far the best part. We ordered the mussels and the 16oz flank steak. The mussels are already plucked from the shell and sitting in a cold broth. I prefer mussels in hot broth but they were still good, just caught me off guard. The highlight of the night was the steak. Cooked to a perfect medium rare and served with a olive oil based dipping sauce and served with some of the best potatoes I’ve ever had. The potatoes had a couple different sIces on them but we’re still super crispy outside and soft and moist on the inside. At $ 32 it was a steal. Highly recommended. Definitely a 5 star rating, and one last note, I saw several other plates come out and they all looked delicious so I’ll be making another stop back.

Update 7÷31÷15 NEWHAPPYHOUR! Wow… amazing deals and incredible food and drinks. I have always loved Casa Rubia but could not afford to come more than once a year because even though it’s well worth the price, it’s still pricey. Well now they have an option for people like me and I appreciate it so much that I will now be a regular customer to show my appreciation. They have a whole separate menu for bar bites and they are very tasty and filling, more like comfort foods. You can get drunk and full of food for the same price it would cost at a cheesey place like Olive Garden or Chilis. I should not even be telling you about the happy hour so you don’t get in my way but what can i say i’m just that nice… lol. also looking to help out the restaurant in any way possible. I cannot remember the specifics of the bar bites but suffice it to say they are all very tasty. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - –Alcachofas; Crispy artichokes with meyer lemon and a saffron aoli. 5⁄5 –Fideua; Razor clams with burnt leek aoli. 4⁄5 –Cordero; Lamb belly with pomegranate molasses. 5⁄5 –Erizos; Sea urchin on rustic bread with lardo 4⁄5 –Aceitunas; Spiced olives in oil 3⁄5(Best olives I’ve had but still just olives) –Pulpo A La Plancha; Octopus 4⁄5(I did not think potatoes fit in the dish) –Leche y Miel; 4⁄5(subtle flavors i wish were stronger) All in all i loved the place and I will be back to try other dishes. The atmosphere is nice, the staff very friendly and the place is new so they need your support. *A note for the restaurant; your plates do not photograph well, please reconsider the plates you use.

This is true, Spanish cuisine(Catalonia specifically), and it is so flavorful! Not only that, but they take a lot of effort in presentation. We started out with an appetizer of meats and cheeses. It was presented on a slab of wood… just beautiful and so tasty. I believe it was a type of prosciutto. All was so tasty. We also ordered fritters, which are in the picture I’ve attaches. Also very flavorful. Our entrees were lamb shank and a roasted chicken. Both were excellent and presented beautifully. The chicken was my favorite as it came in a large bowl sitting in a sauce of various veggies. Everything was very tender. The lamb had a nice, smoky taste to it. The mixed drinks were even amazing. I would love to see more entrees on the menu, though. The waiter(from Peru) was absolutely amazing although he had to put up with me and my rude a$$ boyfriend(now ex). The bf ended things with me shortly thereafter, and our obviously uncomfortable waiter had to witness some of it. A night I won’t ever forget!

This place is super adorable, as with most places in Trinity Groves. Came to try out the food, since my family and I have been to most of the other places in the area. Food was absolutely delicious, but slightly on the sweeter side in my opinion. We got the mushrooms and artichokes, along with a salad. All lovely, but my ABSOLUTE favorite was the paella! It took about an hour to make and cost $ 55, so it had to be divine… which it was. I recommend Casa Rubia for the paella alone. Love it.

Such a special experience in a relatively unexplored part of Dallas. I came with a friend after we parked near the Trinity River and walked along the trail to capture pictures of the flood waters. We were not dressed for a night out and been sliding around on the muddy trails not even 20 minutes earlier but we weren’t turned away at the door and got excellent service from the bar. The host even let us know of cancelled tables we were welcome to, after only 10 minutes. We each had a glass of rose and split the alcachofas, the bunuelos, and the boquerones. Yes, the plates are small, so I wouldn’t go looking to tuck in, exactly, but the symphony of flavors passing over your tongue at different times makes for an intimate experience. The bunuelos were my favorite, crispy and creamy at the same time, with a rich, savory flavor. I kept thinking to myself, «Woah, man. These are involved». Perfect for date night or really small groups. I recommend sitting at the bar. You get an elevated view of the dining room and the kitchen, but are still situated in a relatively quiet and cozy corner.

FANTASTIC. Our waiter was such a great help. Started with a make your own cheese board. The goat cheeses– San simon and Cana de cabra were phenomenal. Holy crap the short ribs… You have to get them. For two girls a cheese board, short ribs and scallops were enough. But I’d recommend the short ribs over everything. The scallops were good. But really, the short ribs. Atmosphere is great! Trinity groves is amazing and this place is the perfect fit for it!

It’s pretty good! They are located across the bridge, the whole plaza is restaurants. I had the Mediterranean, great for gin-lovers! Tapas are pretty good, a little overpriced but I think that’s what the restaurant is shooting for. Our server was lovely and helpful. Tip: there are additional self-parking area just by the side of Casa Rubia that ppl overlook all the time.

QUICKHIT(Must Go vs. Consider Checking It Out vs. Pass/Don’t Bother): Must GO — Been here at least five times — each time has been exceptional. Atmosphere: Located in Trinity Groves, so naturally it has a social, hip, ambience. The décor and table arrangements evoke an upscale establishment without being too pretentious. Both outdoor and indoor seating is offered, however, the table arrangement in the interior allows for more intimate dining. Staff has always been pleasant and laid back while still being professional. Food: –Wine selection has several great offerings that pair nicely with the available dishes. –True to tapas style, Casa Rubia offers a variety of unique, shareable dishes. At my most recent dinner we ordered: –Cheese Plate — Cheese is cheese. I didn’t order this. –Lamb Chop — Well-cooked, very flavorful, a bit spicier than anticipated but I didn’t mind –Pork Short Ribs — Nice portion size, accompaniments complimented the dish nicely –Poached Chicken — Excellent, the smoked bacon was delicious(obviously) –Black Cod — Incredibly well prepared, probably my favorite dish of the night –Pumpkin Flan — great flavor combination, but wasn’t terribly memorable –Chocolate — Yum. Yum. Yum. Every time I visit Casa Rubia, I have come to expect innovative dishes using high quality ingredients that blend together nicely — they always deliver. It is always an enjoyable meal. Service: Friendly. Approachable. Prompt. Recommended? Yes. Come here, and bring your friends so you can sample several of the offerings.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Casa Rubia because I’ve only had derived forms of Spanish cuisine. That’s right, don’t expect anything like tacos with crème fraîche here. I’ve experienced my share of haughty establishments, but someone forgot to tell me to put a stick up my rear end before entering this restaurant. The waiter, aloof with his head held high, wasn’t helping much with the ambiance either. Not the most stellar service, but on the flip side the menu was very interesting to say the least. So let’s see, I forgot the stick up my rear and I also forgot to learn Spanish before my visit. I was seriously looking up words on the wine menu since most, if not all of them were Spanish, «Which is red? Is that a riesling or a chardonnay? Oh THAT word means ‘sparkling’.» Okay, maybe the waiter had a reason to think so little of me, ha! The dinner menu wasn’t as confusing since there were descriptions underneath the names. You can make your own cheese/sausage plate or choose from a selection of «simple» or «complex» tapas. A fair amount of the items offered are seafood and a little out of the ordinary. The«simple» Boquerones felt more complex to me. There were so many ingredients to taste in it, from the chilled salty anchovies to the bits of roe that decorated the plate. I didn’t see any quail eggs like other pictures of this dish though sadly. The anchovies rested on some also cold thick paste of the unknown. It was still edible, thank goodness, and tasted a lot better when spread onto the complimentary bread slices. The«complex» Setas was simple in taste being mainly maitake mushrooms and a single farm egg, but whoever cooked that egg completely mastered sunny side up. The yolk was perfectly yellow and round. All it took was a gentle poke with my fork to let it start running! Maitake tastes earthier than other mushrooms which makes it my favorite kind. The smeared smoked pear butter was a little sweet and offset some of that earthiness. My dinner-mate orderd Bunuelos de Pollo, fried dough balls, which weren’t too hard or heavily battered. They were just without any chicken. Very uninteresting and I wouldn’t recommend them unless you’re a complete square, yawn! The monk fish she ordered from the«complex» section was very well cooked. The fish was thick, lightly fried, and resting in a bowl of light soup and potatoes. It was very good and felt more like an actual entrée than a small plate. It was still a pretty safe choice though so I wouldn’t order it on my own. Although the plates are different from the abundant New American dishes in the area, nothing really took me to new heights and I wouldn’t order the same thing again. The four plates we got for the two of us were the perfect amount: not full and bloated, but not hungry either. I really wish the paella didn’t require at least four people because I saw the staff prepare two orders of it in the dining area and it looked amazing! Why?! As far as the tapas, everything was prepared and arranged so well, it just wasn’t exciting enough. Looks like this is the final list of things I forgot: the stick up my rear end, knowing Spanish, and being as bland as beige carpet. I at least made a reservation. Don’t forget to do that if you’re able to get the paella you jerk.
