We visited Potato Flats at Trinity Groves today. I had the chicken fried potato. It was good or average, not great. It is an interesting concept, however I believe the quality of the toppings needs to upgraded. The cost of the potato is close to $ 10 so you would think the quality would be better. The atmosphere is good and the service, which is «line» style was also good.

Great, unique lunch spot.
First I’ll address a couple other reviews… it’s called Potato Flats, so yes, primarily a potato meal… but it is more.
Second, it’s potatoes, hours from 11a to 3 pm… they don’t serve breakfast.
With that out of the way, this is more than loaded baked potatoes… they take a large baked potato, they split it, then flatten it, placing a variety of toppings on it… steak, chicken fried steak, turkey breast, etc… then traditional potato toppings, like bacon, cheese, etc… but you get to choose.
This is a unique meal, filling, and lots of options… including a sweat potato.
The dining room was clean and spacious and the concept is great.
Try a unique lunch here, but keep an open mind, it’s not your typical burger lunch.

Went for the first time today and was very underwhelmed. I really hoped that they had breakfast toppings but I got over that. I ordered the chicken fried steak potato that said it came with gravy, bacon and cheddar cheese. The chicken fried steak was frozen and reminiscent of dorm food. Then they poured «gravy» on it. Then they poured the «gravy» on the Italiano potato. So what the heck? They said that gravy and Alfredo was the same thing. Absolutely not!!! Then they proceeded to argue with us about the difference. #texasnotapproved

Cool spot and a great meal… HUGE PORTIONS and a unique meal. Definitely get the cheese sauce no matter what you get…
Wish they served beers and wine though
