The food is consistently good and greasy… just the way I like it. What’s more is it comes out fast. Great family place, take-away lunch place, hangover food spot, or after-work decompression spot for those of you toiling away at the boutiques and salons of Lovers Lane. My only gripe is the bartender(Tony, maybe… not sure) who is aloof and who will 100% of the time screw up your to go order. I think it’s because he’s 100% of the time stoned.

I had heard this was a Must go to place for Burgers in Dallas. The food was good… It seemed like the burger patty was a commercial patty not hand made. There were plenty of Vegetables on the burger which I personally like. The Cheddar fries were good they use real Cheddar Cheese and a lot of it. It has a great atmosphere especially in cooler weather sitting out on the open air patio.

The place is cool. The décor is divey. The burgers are pretty big in circumference but the patty is pretty thin in relation to the buns and condiments. They come with lettuce and tomatoes and mayo and mustard standard. I ordered a regular cheese burger. It was good but the patty was so thin and the slice of cheese paper thin that all I tasted was lettuce and tomato and mustard. Seriously, when the cheese melted on the patty the cheese disappeared. I knew there was cheese from the corners that hang out of the bun. The veggies are fresh and robust and the burger bun is soft. If you don’t want to feel like you’re eating a vegan burger, order a quarter pounder or something. The french-fries are a little big for my taste and were not crunchy. The cheese burger and fries and a fountain drink came up to $ 12.20.

I had been to Chips before a few times with great food and decent service, with no issues until I visited for lunch one Friday. I brought my folks from out of town because my Dad really likes a good burger and figured he would like it. I will say two things — they were very busy and they were obviously short staffed. It took a few minutes to place our order but the real challenge was finding an open table that was cleaned. There was not a single table that wasn’t covered in dirty dishes/items fro other orders. We finally decided to go out to the patio and I bussed a table. There were dirty dishes all along the backside of the bar area, not exactly an appetizing thing during lunch. The two bus boys seemed very overworked as they were trying to clean tables and being orders. Normally they call your name or bring your order but this was not happening. Finally after about 15 minutes I went up to grab our order — the prep area was full of other orders that had not been picked up. Had I waited any longer our food would’ve been cold. Others were doing the same thing tho not any real consistency because some tables six receive their food while others of us had to pick them up. And the music in the patio was blaring which made it difficult to carry on a conversation. As for the food, it was good but not as great as I remember in the past. My parents liked it ok but I was very very disappointed mainly in the poor service and I told my folks this didn’t seem to be the norm. Before we left the tables around us were finally clean but it took a long time. Good food but with such poor service and cleanliness I may not go back.

My first time experience at Chip’s was great! From the outside, you’re a little unsure where the entrance is located. When you enter, you’re eyes go immediately to their gigantic menu. They have a little arcade on the right side of the entrance. They have daily specials but you have to look for a piece of paper that states what it is. I ended up ordering the daily special, which was a 1⁄3 pound with bacon and avocado with a side of tater tots. Seating isn’t too difficult as they have a variety of seating arrangements from booths to outdoor seating on the patio. My order didn’t take long, maybe 10 minutes? The burger was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The name of the joint says it all, it’s a good old fashioned hamburger(with bacon and avocado). Overall, great place to try if you’re looking for a burger to fulfill you’re burger craving.

Chips showed up on my culinary radar screen when a friend who lives in Dallas asked me if I wanted to get together for lunch. Plagued with having to go gluten free, I did a quick searched and found out Chips offers some gluten free options! Kinda of a classic burger place inside. Chips has the menu posted on the wall next to the counter where you order up. Fairly robust menu for a burger joint, my focus was the gluten free bacon cheeseburger and fries. Ordering was quick, friendly and straightforward. The price seemed a bit high, but I figured the burger might be the best ever, or maybe the portions were crazy big! They were moderately busy, but we had no problem locating a table out on their enclosed patio type area. A big fan was in the corner which pushed around the hot air enough, it almost seemed cooler. Food came out quick! It was hot and seemed made to order. Quantity of food was ok. Quality of food was ok. Flavor of food was ok. If your sensing a theme, you got it! Everything was ok. Nothing was bad. Nothing was particularly great. Nothing made me say to myself… «I can’t wait to come back!» Or… «Wait until I tell Betty(or fill in a name) about this place.» I wouldn’t not eat at Chips again, but I also wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there. As always, your mileage may vary

Went here after seeing all the good reviews. We got the burger of the week as is, veggie burger with jalapenos and fried egg, cheddar fries and an oreo milkshake. The food came out fast, the burgers were greasy and tasted ok. The fries are a total no-no, came out cold, with a lot of the cheese unmelted. The oreo milkshake at $ 4.50 was the only thing we liked here.

Totally went here as a spur of the moment thing. We were all hungry, and happened to drive by it. Never been here before, or even heard of it, but glad we stopped in. Definitely old school style food, but really good. I had a philly, my husband a double cheeseburger, and my son a kids meal. Even my son commented that the burger were good, and he’s only 4. The booths are huge — like, they could probably seat 6 grown-ups. Overall, it was a pretty good place. Would definitely go back.

So I read about chips online when I was reading what the top 10 burger places in the United States of 2015 were. I saw Chips in Dallas and I knew it was a must try! It is located a few miles from smu so pretty nice area of Dallas. I came here with my parents and it was very easy to find. It was noon on a Tuesday so was more crowded than I expected. You walk in and order. They have a big menu right next to the register so you can follow that while ordering. Their menu selection has a great variety. They have choose your own burgers, tex-mex, salads, sandwiches, soups, milkshakes, etc. I of course went with the build your own burger and it did not disappoint. I ordered the 1⁄3 pound burger on poppy seed with Cheddar cheese, lettuce, carmalized onions, mushrooms and an egg. I also ordered a side of tater tots which were crispy but maybe a little too greasy for my liking. The burger was so tasty and flavorful. It was not a disappointment. They have just about any beverage you would want soda wise and a pretty good beer selection as well. I ordered a chocolate milkshake to go and it was super thick and yummy. Most of the tables were full but found one empty one not yet cleared. As I was looking around wondering if I should clean a staff member came up and cleaned it. The staff was patient and very friendly and helpful even though they were so busy. They are very kid friendly. They have video game arcades for kids to play in the front of the building so definitely can be a lot of kids. Loved the atmosphere and the food. Could see this becoming a new favorite!

The Nearest Thing You Will Find(in Dallas) to a Real, Detroit, Coney Island. Coney Islands in Detroit and in the Northeast are like hamburgers in the rest of the country. They’re easy to find in most places, including Houston and Austin. But for some bizarre reason a Coney Island is hard to find in Dallas. At Chip’s, the Coney Islands are very good,(they don’t do the bun correctly), but it’s as good as you will find anywhere else,(in Dallas). I just love this place, be sure you try their Coney Island.

This is my second time at this location and it was perfect. I ended up getting the ½ pound cheese burger on a whole wheat bun and an order of totts. This place allows you the choice to choose your type of bread and how you want your burger cooked as well. The place was really hopping and the people were flowing in the door which made this place a popular local destination. Once I received my food it was delicious. I’m glad the napkin holder was right next to me because the meat on the burger was so juicy and tasty. Once I left, I was very satisfied and know I will be returning again. I recommend this place highly.

Good but not great burgers. From the entrance, to the counter and where you get your drink the layout is not very well planned. I just can’t imagine when it’s lunch/dinner rush hour. Everybody will be on top of each other. It’s just really good to know that we have more of this old Dallas establishment that we can enjoy.

Chips is a hidden gem in the Dallas highland park area. It is always packed with people but definitely worth it! The burgers, salads, sides etc. are amazing! You cannot go wrong with anything you order here.

I’ve been eating at Chip’s for several years whenever I am in the area. The food is consistently excellent(with a single exception of the French Dip au jus being too salty) and great service. As good as the burgers are, the grilled chicken sandwiches are even better. Unlike most places where the piece of grilled chicken is dwarfed by the bun, here you get a nice, thick slab of chicken that every time has been perfectly cooked. The Sante Fe Chicken Sandwich is especially excellent, on jalapeño cheese toast with pepperjack cheese, grilled onions and jalapeños. Fries are consistently crisp and hot. Occasionally they will have a blue plate special with pork chops. Hell of a value for $ 11. Two grilled(or fried) pork chops, mashed potatoes and a large side salad. The tacos are also really good and be warned, even though you only get two, they are massive! Chip’s has a dive/sports bar feel to it so it can be loud at times and some of the parents let their kids run all over the place. Traffic and parking can be tough but anyone familiar with the Lover’s Lane/Tollway area already knows that. Prices are a bit higher than some other fast casual places but once you try the food you will realize that you get what you pay for.
