Oh bar celine. Such a beautiful bar. …such great music was played… badass drinks… really. just a dream. i felt like i was in a beautiful yet spooky house party… so dark and carpeted. so many nice little mirrors… really, just a nice cozy spot to enjoy music and drinks and conversation… EXCEPT for the fact that it was balls to the walls packed with Dallass’s BEST yuppies/douchebags, richies, people who want to BE rich, and really just disgusting fucking people. The fact that this place is(unfortunately) run by the most disgusting of dallas makes me NEVER want to go back. I guess that i’ll have to find a real house party in an interesting and cozy place. perhaps, my own house? If you are looking for a lovely bar to listen to great music(Sat night dj was playing a good mix of 80’s and 90’s music) have strong ass drinks, and just chill, bar celine is for you. Just be prepared to share your nice evening with a bunch of assholes. ahhhhhhhhhhh :(I guess it’s what i get for living in dallas and i suppose that i(try to) forget that henderson is overrun with yuppies. blah. It’s enough to make me probably not return(unfortunately). This place would be tops…

I like this place’s atmosphere. Dallas needs more lounge-type places. The times I’ve been here the crowd has been really, really random. And I can appreciate that, too. Just a lot of different people out trying to have a good time. I don’t know how so many random types of people end up here, but it’s happened each time I’ve been. I think it was the same DJ each time I’ve gone, and I really liked most of the music he was playing. A lot of it I have already, or wanted to get it when I heard it. The place has a nice outside patio, which would be great if it wasn’t 100 degrees outside. Oh, and they need better speakers out there. My only real complaint about this place is that they don’t make my Vodka 7’s strong enough. Then again, the only places that seem to are The Loon and Vickery Park. And of course my other complaint about this is the same complaint about all bars in Dallas: They close too early. I cut my teeth going out in NYC where the bars close at 4. Considering most places don’t start picking up in Dallas until about 11 or 11:30, that only gives you a very little bit of time to have a good time. Having the bars stay open until 4 would also enable people to make more of a last-minute decision to go out. It would be nice to arrive at a bar after midnight and still be able to drink for a few more hours, instead of racing to squeeze in the fun before that 2 am deadline. Going out is supposed to be fun, not work!

Bar Celine is my preferred spot for girls’ night out. The mixologist is able to turn fresh ingredients and full array of liquors into what can only be described as «Happiness in Your Mouth.» Tell him what you like, don’t like, and he will be able to suggest the perfect cocktail, or if you’re more adventurous he’ll create a custom concoction based on your preferences. They also serve the delicious food from the adjoining Park Restaurant. The dim lights, antique mirrors, chandeliers, plush seating, and live jazz on Wednesdays give it a funky European lounge vibe. On weekends, the DJ packs the house. The outdoor seating is spacious, and includes a bocce ball court.

A ghostly dark and closed restaurant superseded the entrance to bar Celine, lit by a little ruby red neon sign. As we stumbled in the dark, my man Greg was unsure if the place was open, we could barely locate the unmarked door. Once inside, the villainous comic book quit of outside was squashed and instantly zipped into a rich speak easy scene: rich carpets, quirky chandeliers, and a dimly lit, antiqued pre war European aesthetic. A live DJ spinning 70’s rhythms was accompanied by a trombone player doing a sort of free flow scat against the music. It was a Monday night. One bottle of wine became two as we watched the young crowd of a down to earth, well dressed hipster elk grow and mingle against the french parlor backdrop with deer antler mountings and disco ball light. This place is über cool. It was a reminder that Dallas can still surprise.
Word has it that capital pub has acquired this property as well as restaurant Park. Let’s just hope Bar Celine keeps it’s cool and stays exactly the way it is. Full bar. No kitchen.

This is a pretty cool bar to hang out at. Our bartender Paige was really nice too, and the shots were pretty huge. I can usually gulp it down quick, but with the shots she made us, it took me 3 gulps to finish one! I guess it’s good b/c you get more bang for your buck. =D It is easy to pass up the place though if you’re really not looking. It’s behind the Park restaurant in the corner, so if you see Park, then you’re at the right place. I would go back to this bar the next time I’m out.

Love love love this bar. It kind of reminds me of a modern-day New York speakeasy(the kind you can just search on Unilocal). It’s somewhat«hidden» behind Park. Inside, it’s got a more mature, old Hollywood-esque vibe and décor. You totally feel like you should have some kind of hard liquor on the rocks in hand and Don Draper standing next to you. Mixology is great, which sets it apart from the other bars along Henderson that are merely busting out your usual drinks to quench the crowd. The music selection is awesome, at least I thought it was. It ranged from Ghostland Observatory to Cut Copy to Florence + the Machine to New Order. Perfect if you still want to dance but not booty dance! All in all, it’s a great find on Henderson and a great addition to your usual list of places to go bar-hop at.

Very cool place. The décor inside is dark and I feel like I’m in an old hotel bar from the Victorian era. The outdoor lounge area makes you feel like you’re in a garden. The drinks were very well made, the music is a little bit of old school funk and lounge music, and the crowd was very hip. I didn’t feel like I was in your typical Dallas patio bar at all. Yep, I’m a fan.

This place gives me mixed feelings. It is hard to find, for those who have never been! It took me and my bf a couple of runs down Henderson to be able to find it. Finally, though, we spotted it, and went in to meet some friends for a DJ night. The place is decidedly more upscale-looking than I expected. It kind of had a hotel bar-type feeling. Dimly lit, with lots of cushy chairs and fancy-looking mirrors and chandeliers. I didn’t feel uncomfortable there, even with the college-kid clientele that they appear to cater most to. I was impressed with the selection of drinks at the bar. And I love the fruits and garnishes that the bartenders use. Definitely makes the drinks taste better, IMO, when you use freshly grated lemon zest or freshly crushed cucumber to make a drink. Only a couple of things didn’t impress me. One was that the bartender that closed out my tab seemed to completely overlook me, and even tended first to someone else who had come up to the bar after me. Obviously he wasn’t very aware, or he would have caught that. The other thing was the tequila martini that cost 11 dollars. Ouch! Too rich for my blood. I don’t know if I want to come back… I just don’t have the money to drink like that!

This is probably my new favorite bar in Dallas… very cool, retro décor! The service was great — very friendly and attentive. The drink choices were plentiful — the sangria was quite tasty too!

Makes you feel cool just being there. I often call this place Park, since it’s attached at the hip. The only discernible difference is that there are no formal dinning tables, although you can order most of the food they have up front. The true essence is the same though. Walk down to the back part of Park Restaurant or through the doors in the back of the building and you will enter a ultra cool lounge bar reminiscent of something you would picture finding in New York. The walls are padded with cloth drapes and the couches and coffee tables have that cool vintage feel. Utilizing vibrant color and texture not to mention eclectic light fixtures, you feel like Frank Sinatra should be walking in at any moment. I usually try to nab the corner that is enclosed with 3 walls on the other side of the bar, it’s the most intimate area for a group of friends. It offers the best of two worlds. Close to bar and the rest of the bar while not feeling like you are in the middle of a huge mass of people. The bar is takes up most of the with of the building and the bartenders know how to make your drinks with a little pizazz not to mention a lot of liquor. For a real treat try a signature drink. My favorite is the Laredo Fizz, since it’s actually made with a honestly real tequila. Hornitos, a tequila that they actually sell in Mexico and I’ve prefer over most others. Most of the drinks are very ornate. The ingredients look more like they are from a cook book than cocktail menu. For instance, I had never had a drink made with egg white, but it was very good. Though at $ 10 a pop I need to let it breath a bit. If it gets too crowded inside, and it usually does, they have a patio area that is semi enclosed complete with bocce ball area and patio sofas made into little niches for easy conversation as well as smoke breaks. Don’t worry about drinks, they have an outside bar too! Just sit back, take a sip and be cool.

Stop 9 of 10 in our adventure ‘Summer splash: 10 great drinks you need to try’ as featured in the July 15th, 2010 edition of QuickDFW. com was Bar Celine, located at the rear of Park. The drink at this stop was the absinthe ballot, a gin-based delight which featured Muddled cucumber, gin, violet liqueur, absinthe. Our bartender, the creator of this wonder, indicated that it recently placed 3rd out of 40 entered drinks featured in a Tanquery-sponsored gin-based(duh) contest. With just a couple of sprays of absinthe, which is plenty, this drink tantalizingly transformed this lushly appointed bar into something you’d enjoy poolside, indeed. The cucumber is apparently throughout, but just enough to give it a crisp, refreshing kick. Probably the most surprisingly good drink of the evening, for me.

I went here recently with a very large group. Reactions across the group were mixed, but my wife and I were both pretty disappointed. The most frustrating part was that no one seemed to be on the same page about what menu was available to us. Bar Celine has a smaller menu with just a sub-set of the items on the Park menu, but they had provided us with both menus and the guy organizing our group had been told we could order anything. Then, when my wife and I tried to order off the full menu, we were told that only the Bar Celine menu was available. Instead, we ended up going inside and ordering at the bar(at Bar Celine!). They were kinda strange about letting us order from the full menu too, but they did allow us to. And not letting us order from the full menu was not the only problem we had with our waitress. She was also completely inattentive. She took our drink order pretty quickly after we arrived, but then she more or less disappeared. Ordering anything beyond the first drink became quite a chore. Even when the waitress did come to check on our group, she didn’t really seem to care if we needed anything. I tried several times to make eye contact of wave her down, but she gave us such a cursory glance that I think I could have only grabbed her attention by walking up and shaking her. On to the drinks: because our waitress was so inattentive, I only got to order one. However, it was delicious! I got the Garfunkel. They said it’s a twist on a Collins; I’ve never had a Tom Collins, but I think the main difference in their drink was the addition of mint, which kinda made it taste like some kind of hybrid between a mojito and a gin and tonic. Definitely would have had a second one if she’d given me the chance. The food was mixed. I started with the grilled green onions, just because I’d never seen anything like it on a restaurant menu. They turned out to be just what they sound like: grilled green onions. I guess that would be a good thing if you REALLY like green onions. I got the veggie pizza. It was fine, but definitely nothing special. You can get better(and cheaper) pizzas in a dozen other places around town. My wife ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese was pretty darn good. However, the tomato soup was not very tasty at all; my wife agreed with me about the soup but said that it was a little better if you dipped the grilled cheese in it. I had been looking forward to trying Park /Bar Celine for quite a while, but unfortunately, our first experience there was a pretty big let down. I’d be more inclined to give it another try if if weren’t so darn pricey. But given what we spent for our unpleasant experience, my wife and I will probably wait for someone else to suggest it before we venture back there.

Go to this place on Sunday nights! It’s busy without getting pushy. The crowd is a sexy smattering of trendy twenty something’s, and the lounge is super cozy. The bartender there is awesome. He makes different crazy concoctions every time I go, and no matter how busy it gets, if I’m not sure what I want, he’ll give an amazingly thorough recommendation. The interior is pretty great, too. The bar is dimly lit, with lots of arm chairs and seating made with varied plush fabrics, and the room is pretty spacious even though the bar itself is a bit small. I was surprised at first to see the place is carpeted, but it exudes more of an international and eclectic charm than say, Al Bundy’s living room. And the DJs take the cake. HOYOTOHO is there every Sunday night, with a guest from time to time. The music is kind of a mix of nonchalant, loungey trip-hop and move-your-feet beats and samples. The place is comfortable enough to dance but the people watching there is the best.

My friends and I really like this place. There’s something about the ambiance, layout, and music selection that makes it very unique, even to the growing Henderson Avenue. The crowd was great and the most unbelieveable aspect was that we drank for a pretty decent price. I would definitley go back and recommend this place, although I hope the Dallas glam crowd doesn’t pollute it.

This is one of the few places where you can still smoke without freezing your ball sack to the point they fall down your pant legs and break in the cold asphalt. This is a cool place, service gets really slow because you have a lowly bartender and by eleven the 30,000 millionaires start arriving, the loud women, the men with the open shirts. I noticed last night a lot of them looked like those people from Jersey Shore, nice trend to pick up if you’re already an douchebag… hmm, how can I look douchier oh I know!, some with orange spray tans in everything, if anybody is going to hell its Dallas 30,000 millionaires they made a pact with the devil and not the people from Haiti. Still the crowd is kind of mixed. Not too bad.

After dinner at Park, Bar Celine was a no brainer next stop. Located directly behind Park the only thing calling you in is the little pink neon sign letting you know something is behind the door. The patio was covered in plastic draping for the winter and with several tables and a random dirt pit which I later discovered was for Bacce Ball, which an obvious regular told me was a popular thing on the weekdays… random but I’m sure its a good time and a source of contention among friends and patrons after a few cocktails. We walked in the bar around 1030p and it was somewhat busy but not packed. The bar is eclectic to say the least with its paintings, furniture, more colors than a Crayon box and random antique store looking appointments, but it was comfortable. We lucked out and snagged a booth in the back corner and ordered a few drinks. Fifteen minutes after we arrived the bar was packed shoulder to shoulder. The later it got the louder the music became as if the bar manager couldn’t hear his favorite song over the crowd. If you need a little substance they do offer the appetizer menu from Park. I really didn’t spend any time looking over the specialty cocktail menu because I figure the time it takes to look through the list and choose one, the bartender can already be pouring my gin & tonic. Celine is a real chill atmosphere and definitely something different for the area… good for a small group or just a couple. I’d like to come back and try it on the week day, either way we’ll be back.

Bar Celine was FUN! For a Saturday night(around 11pm) it wasn’t terribly crowded but I bet it will be once word spreads. I believe it opened about a month ago, in the back of it’s «sister restaurant» Park. It’s not a huge space, but we were able to score a section of couches in the back corner with our group. There’s a lovely variety of different wallpapers, upholsteries, and paintings in rich, luxurious colors that make the place very Parisian feeling. I had no idea what to order off the cocktail menu because everything sounded delicious. They’ve got fresh ingredients to whip up a number of craft cocktails similar to those at Victor Tango’s. I can’t remember what I ordered, some gin drink, and it was mighty tasty. I remember thinking it didn’t have much alcohol in it but by the time I got home I was pretty buzzed so who knows.(The open bar at Dr. S’ work party before that might have been the real culprit, though.) Also, I think the drinks may have been $ 10 a pop, which can get steep quick. They also offer all the appetizers you can get at Park but I think they are in the process of creating their own food menu. I’ve yet to eat at Park, mainly due to the numerous«I reallly want to like this place, BUT» reviews – but I had such a good time at Celine that I’ll have to come back and give it a try so I can hang out here again afterwards.
