You know, I’ve been here many times and I’ve always thought it was a pretty cool place, until I had one really bad experience. I went out for a friends birthday, and brought one of my friends along. To make a long story short, one of the people in the group that I met that night knew the bar tender and concocted a plan charge all the drinks to mine and my friend’s tab. Everyone was ordering drinks, but unbeknownst to us all the drinks were being charged to our tab. At the end of the night the guy that was in cahoots with the bar tender disappeared and we were left with collectively over a $ 200 tab. When we asked the bar tender how the tabs were so much and why he charged all the drinks to our tabs, he started cursing at us. Because of this unfortunate incident, I will not be back. I won’t patronize an established that hires people to have the capacity to pull a trick like that.

The staff sucks. The waitress was going through the dance floor and her empty glass splilled and she blames me. The bouncers comes and said you have to leave. Its insane I wasnt even drunk.

I have been to this venue more then once. The 1st time was ok and the staff was unfriendly. But my group of friends and I dismissed it. 2nd time the same thing. 3rd time was flat out rude. We had a group waiting to come in and the door man chacking ID’S was talking to 2 of his friends. When 1 of our members spoke up after several minutes to come in the door man looked annoyed. The door man then looked as his attire and said your shoes will not be acceptable. Turned to his friends and continued his conversation. It was beyond rude. The bar deserves better employees. We will never come back.

I came with a friend after enjoying some dinner nearby on a chilly Friday night. No line & no issues at all getting in! No eyeballing to see if I fit the«mold» or anything. I’m also mixed race & my friend is Indian so the racist card doesn’t apply here as we were quickly welcomed in with zero hesitation! The doormen were very nice, chill & approachable; not snooty, pretentious or bigoted as some reviews say. They actually even reminded me to watch my step upon entering & exiting to make sure I didn’t trip & fall on the way in or out cause I had heeled boots on. Upon leaving they wished me a good night & to be safe & stay warm. So sweet of them! The music was modern day/90s hip hop & R&B which was quite refreshing & fun! Everyone was up & dancing all night long even though the setup is a lounge. There was no drama or BS whatsoever since this is a place for middle aged to older professionals, like 25 – 50& I think that’s maybe why some people have trouble getting in because it caters to that specific niche & is a grown & classy folk type of party. I was the youngest in there(21) but felt at ease nonetheless cause everyone minded their business & were very polite & courteous! It was also really diverse! Lots of different races & personal styles so once again: This isn’t a racist establishment, just grown & sexy! The drinks were fabulous, but I’m not sure about prices cause I didn’t pay teehee. But expect Uptown style prices. Super quick & friendly bar service too! I really enjoyed my night here! I danced all night long. Very classy & cute atmosphere & interior. Mature, sophisticated, drama free crowd. I may be young but I’m mature for my age & I enjoy actually getting loose & having fun minus all the immature meathead bullcrap that’s contagious at other nearby bars/lounges. You already know I’ll be back for more!

It’s the kind of place where you have to ask what the prices are. I asked for mid shelf Cuervo on the rocks and the bartender said he didn’t have it but oh wait he did have a Cuervo. I said fine, mid shelf or whatever. He gives me two shots with dry limes and charges me $ 40 for two shots. I asked him why he didn’t tell me it was a $ 20 shot and he said people get offended. I’ll pay $ 20 for a great shot but I got a crappy shot with a dry lime. Avoid this place.

Had a subpar customer service experience here with a group of friends. The staff was unfriendly and we had poor service while here. Not a place that I’d recommend to friends. Of note, Unilocal took down my initial one star review of this venue.

We went there on a Fri night after some bar hoping. The music is good, a mix of 90s, 2000s n some new songs. Mostly hip hop which got the groove on. The drinks were good as well. It wasn’t over crowded so we had enough room for a group of 7 – 8 of us. The patio had some heaters to warm up on a cold night

The music was amazing! We went there for a friends 40th birthday. Tremaine was attentive to people’s needs and very hospitable to our group of people. We completely appreciate the service and atmosphere!

We went to Dram for a birthday celebration. Very nice place, beautiful décor and handsomely furnished. We had a table reserved off of the dance floor in a private area and there was plenty of room in the spot. The place wasn’t very packed which was nice and the music was fun. There were some issues when it came time to settle the bill and it took a very long time to sort it out. I wish bottle service was more cut and dry but it gets complicated when you have random people drinking your stuff and then you end up paying for it. We sorted it out, and busted outta there just as «Whomp There It Is» began to play. That’s when you know it’s time to go!

Visited this place last Saturday and had a really good time. The crowd was great and so was the music, there was a mix of R&B and pop. The drinks were good, definitely not strong enough though.

I can’t wait to go back! So I can get in this time. I spent quite a lovely time outside. The music I could hear was great, good selection of top 40 and hip-hop. If you do want to go, don’t wear sneakers. If you must wear sneakers then wear some lackluster black Vans or Converses or opt for the white on white Reeboks. The Dram knows. The security showed excellent, superb communication amongst themselves. Although, they could use better communication with patrons. It’s probably best to let a group know they’re not getting in instead of letting others in from the back of the line. If I do get in, I’ll have to ask for Derek the bartender. That other post really recommends it.

All I can say is there is some prejudice to this place and the bouncers. You wear brown clean sneakers and they«enforce a dress code» but another guy with leopard sneakers and a tank top is allowed to be in the spot. I know the difference between him and his friend and my friend and i. Needless to say, this place is not that serious and Dallas ought to take itself less seriously.

Again! Derek has been an awesome bartender!!! It’s not busy tonight so lucky me! However, I told him«I’m going to get out of here soon» and he told me «no rush because we close at 2!» Those are the words I wanted to here!!! I just wanted to say that I love Candleroom on Wednesday but if you ever want to take a deep breath and escape the chaos then you should just walk over to the Dram!!! Hip hop playing, no DJ tonight but they do have music, so just hop over and get A DRINK!!! Or 2!!! :D from a cute and friendly bartender. His name is Derek!!!

The bouncers at Dram are racist. Jane at the door said he can’t let one of my friends in because he is brown. WTF. Dram is operating today because of us «BROWN» people. The place used to be empty and we made it into a happening place. I am going to tell all my friends and everyone I know to screw this place.

Never go here! The«Manager» was rude to me and my friend. He asked me to leave the bar and made me stand out in the rain to wait for a ride. There are plenty of good Dallas bars to go to where the service is good and the managers know how to run a bar.

If you don’t have a table, the bouncers are very rude to you. Let me explain. After a birthday dinner, 20 or so people decided to go to The Dram across the street since it was the most convenient. Now we didn’t all show up at the same time. All were showing up within the hour(from 11 – 12) of each other. The first few of us waited in line about 5 minutes. But after that it all went downhill. People who showed up were disrespected by the bouncer. He cussed at them, and purposefully made them wait in line longer, and kicked them out of the line once the birthday boy left the club. So instead of being nice to all people like other clubs, this club just lost 20 customers, plus all the other people who they will tell about the rudeness.

It’s called«The Dram,» and the menu online includes a good whisky list and well put together flights, so I thought this place would be great to, you know, have a whisky flight? Nope. Everything was«reserved» when my group walked in, but after asking around, they said we could sit anywhere, though possibly other parties might arrive(those who had reserved the tables?) and we’d have to move somewhere else. What? We persevered, thinking this place just had to be awesome – the ambiance is swanky, dark, and cool, and we loved the creaky wood floors. We found a nice spot and asked for a cocktail menu and whisky list. We did not get the same menu I found on their website, but hey, this one lights up when you open it. Neat-o. But the waitress said they don’t really do flights anymore. We then went to the bar and asked for a whisky list. The bartender handed me what turned out to be their old menu(confirmed by the waitress and the sticky residue it left on my hands), but said the list was hit or miss. «So, I guess we’ll just ask you if you have something, and you’ll tell us then?» «Yes.» Done. We left. Very schizophrenic joint. It’s as if it started as a whisky bar, but now wants to be a nightclub.

I am going to go as far as to give The Dram, 5 stars! This spot came as a recommendation from our waitress, at Hibiscus. We were NOT disappointed! We arrived early enough to take in the interior. It reminded me of a ‘turn of the century’ drawing room! pretty awesome. What really endeared Dram to us though, was the music! We’re talking some early 90s, to early millennium. Everything from Backstreet Boys, to Trick Daddy. A-freakin-mazing! I really wish I could get a copy of the mix from Saturday(is that at all possible?!). We danced our butts off, and pretty much sang along with every song that came on. Drinks will set you back the typical $ 10 each. Most of them were pretty strong. You get your monies worth! The patio out front was also a great touch. Especially if you enjoy ‘people watching’. A line DOES form around 11 or so, so get there early. I wish there was a bar like this in the State’s capitol! I’d be there every weekend!

So this is what hipster 1920s London would look like. The place is stuffed with lavish couches, velvet Ottomans. I honestly feel like I’m in a dimmer, sketchier version of Downton Abbey, but I don’t get the ridiculously awesome dresses. They should have costumes available at the door. I got a gin and tonic to go with the vibe, which was fantastic, but while we were there they were also setting up a «tiki party» to promote this new pirate rum they’re getting. I mean, really? A tiki theme in this decadently brooding setting? They should’ve just done a Pirates of the Carribean theme instead, and hired a Johnny Depp impersonator to swagger about, talking about rum really loudly. Hold on. This is a brilliant idea. I need to open my own bar.

After finishing a lovely dinner across at Hibiscus across the street(Read my review. It was delicious!), we were about to call it a night and head home. That was until we heard some great music lingering over from The Dram. As we approached, a bouncer ID-ed our group of four and led us in. Inside we encountered a swanky space decked out with eclectic décor and vintage art on the walls. We got a private table with bottle service($ 250 value) which gave us ample room to dance the night away and have room to sit. Great crowd, fantastic well-rounded DJ playing old and new school hits, and amazing ambiance with everyone letting loose and having some fun! I’ll definitely be back if I am looking for an energetic night with a cool group of folks.
