FOOD: 3 Stars ATMOSPHERE: 5 Stars The food is alright, but the atmosphere is outstanding. If Anthropologie was a restaurant, this is what it would look like. Very unique, trendy, eclectic, lush, earthy yet modern and fabulously exotic. I am all about cool ambiance, and for this reason alone, you should check out Park.

ATMOSPHERE: 5 stars Cool dimly lit paper sphere lantern style lighting, artsy pictures on the palm tree wall paper, and industrial touches make this place really one of a kind. Now I know this doesn’t sound like it all mixes well together, but it was actually pretty awesome. Perfect date restaurant! SERVICE: 3 stars Spotty at times but all in all good. The host was very honest with which dishes he likes and even which dishes that he thought were«ok» and gave some very good recs. FOOD: 3.5 stars(Drinks 5 stars) Flat breads are AMAZING. I tried the red flatbread… yum! Easily the most memorable dish. Mac and cheese was a bit underwhelming since I had heard so much about it beforehand. It needed more kick to it, more cheese, but I ate the entire thing anyway. Spinach vegetable was just spinach. Pot roast was very good and a nice portion. Def try it if you want something comforting. Duck dish was ok. It had some citrusy sauce that reminded me of eating an orange chicken. But if you don’t come here for food, try their drinks!!! $ 9 a drink. A bit pricey but worth it! I tried the LA girl and my boyfriend had several others off the menu. Each concoction was interesting, tasty, and yummy!

I was nervous going to eat here as the reviews were mixed, but I have to say I had one of the best restaurant experiences that I have had in a long time. The drinks were original and strong. The bar tender was very friendly and helped me find a nice bourbon. I had the pot roast and it was incredible. It was a very large portion. My friend had the pork ribs and the meat fell off the bone. We had sides of asparagus and cauliflower and both were great. Oh, I almost forgot. We had the spicy sausage flat bread for an appetizer and it was great. I have absolutely no complaints.

What a refreshing take on a throwback to Miami via 1973. Everything from old-school palm tree wall paper to huge globe light treatments — they have got the design down to a T. The beautiful(maybe Allison V. Smith) photograph prints on the wall aren’t a bad touch either. Actually they are the best quality of the restaurant. That and the schmorges board of rugged rugs that cover the floor. Don’t even get me started on the patio — delightful, just delightful. Yes, the design direction does not go unnoticed when you scan the room. The price on their cocktails doesn’t go unnoticed either. Damn. Yes, they are exciting and refreshing names and mixes, but a pretty penny. I had the Vodoo Child — the gin drink. It was a lighthearted cocktail that was fun and put me on the set of Sex and the City(in my tipsy mind.) That’s just the thing though about those drinks — you are having so much fun sipping ‘em down until the fun ends, HARD, when you have to 1 — either swallow your frugal pride and drink another $ 9 or 2 — sadly not order another a drink(oh the horror!) or 3 — order a more inferior drink(who wants to do that?). Womp Womp The food is your typical new-age, American fare of cute appetizer ideas, such as meatballs, flatbread concoctions, crab meat bruschetta. They are tasty, especially the mushroom flatbread drizzled with pesto. The waitress was prompt with the water and drink replenishment and very patient with our vacillating crew. All in all — Park is a great date and party place for a special occasion or just to gussy-it-up on a Friday night!

I have heard good(and bad) reviews of Park over the last several months, but I’m glad to report that we had a very good time and a very nice meal there last night. Hi Points were The Spann Chardonnay/Viognier Blend that was really earthy and rich and I’m not normally a huge White Wine drinker. Definitely worth ordering and reasonably priced at $ 38. The Eggplant Hummus which was rich, but not at all the texture of Baba Ganouch which is what I was concerned it would be, accompanied by Lavosh Breads, Delicious olive blend and very clean grape tomato/cucumber side. $ 8 and easily split by 3 for an app. The Mac & Cheese with Cornbread & Bacon Crumble. OMG, just fabulous, I was completely in my happy place. One of the best Mac & Cheese dishes I’ve had. The Sunflower Sprout Salad, crisp, fresh, with grilled pineapple and a sharp vinaigrette and punctuated with Arugula. A little spicy, a little sweet and a little tart… good balance. The Fluke Entrée, wasn’t expecting it to be breaded with butter crumbs. Fluke was very tender and great flavor and almost had a richness of creamy potatoes. Steaks were good and cooked to order and I like what they are doing with the frites. Thick potato shaving crisply fried with big flakes of sea salt. We were too full for dessert so someone else will have to review that. All in all a great meal at a fair price(the most expensive dish was $ 24 I believe). Good energy, good crowd, busy, but not so loud you can’t hear. We discovered the bar in the back of the restaurant when we were leaving. Very plush and luxurious looking, want to go back and hang out there the next trip.

I was a bit concerned by some of the reviews below — and almost decided against making this reservation for our 10th anniversary dinner. What a mistake that would have been! If I’m being honest, the Star Level is probably closer to 4 ½ stars — but with the tanked ratings from other visitors, I felt this little gem deserved 5 tonight. We started with orders of their cheese and honeycomb plate and the crab toast. The cheeses were beautiful and the brie with the honeycomb may be my new obsession. The crab toast was a large portion of lump crab meat with a lemon aioli atop a perfectly toasted crusty bread. They had cut it in half and made it perfect for sharing. I am incredibly picky about seafood — and this was so very fresh and delicious! My Hubby’s Lemon Sole was such a hit with him — I was scared he was going to turn up the plate and lick it clean! Every element from the grapefruit beurre blanc(which he would normally turn his nose up to) to the white bean purée and sliced avocados were met with joy. My own plate was piled high with these Pork Ribs that were fork tender with just enough zing to make my lips burn — but in that good tingle/burn way. The Ribs are usually served with potatoes, but my request for polenta in their place was graciously met with a «no problem!» And that polenta? I truly believe it was made by angels. I think I am most excited that there was so much on my plate that I know what I’m having for lunch tomorrow! Service was attentive without being overbearing — with each request/order/element of our meal being spot on — just beautiful! The prices are very reasonable for a mid/high end restaurant and the serving sizes were more than generous. I wholeheartedly recommend this lovely Henderson Avenue joint… and will be back!(Gotta try the brunch next time!)

I had a girl’s night out here over the weekend. My girlfriends and I had appetizers and a couple of drinks before heading out for a night of dancing. We shared hummus, which was like anywhere else. and I had the crab toast. It was like crab spread on a piece of toast… it was really good and fresh! as for as drinks… I told the bartender I wanted something girly so he made me like a mimosa like drink with strawberry instead of orange. That was delicious!

I am moving Park back up to 4-stars, not based on my recent dining experience, but based on the fact that the day I wrote this review I received a personal phone call from the new Chef, Garreth Dickey with an apology and offer to come back in and have a different experience. Which I will take him up on because I still really want this to be one of my favorite restaurants, especially now that they have a new menu! You might be wondering…“a phone call, how in the world did he get your number???” — at first I thought the very same thing because I know Unilocal wouldn’t give it out but I figured it out…1. I use my real name on Unilocal, like all good Elite Unilocaler«hopefuls» should and 2. I made a reservation and gave them my phone number so Chef Garreth Dickey was a smart man! He read my Unilocal review and must have looked at his reservation books and saw my name and called. Chef Garreth Dickey, I am thoroughly impressed that you called and it really shows you care and want Park to continue to be a Henderson favorite! Thank you!!! Here’s the review I wrote and I will update it again after I revisit: Oh…I am SOOOOSAD!!! My stars go down to 2 from 4. NEWCHEF. NEWMENU(Which I was super happy about) Not so good food :(. Some of the same cocktail names but they are different… not as farm-like fresh and tasty as they used to be. We ordered them at the table so I didn’t see the bartender make them so I can’t vouch for the process. Ordered the Mussels… No more«Green Room» Chef mussels but they were still good. Best part of the meal. Ordered the Crispy Duck… SERIOUSLY…OK, I am not a large person and this was 5 – 6SMALL bites for me and cost $ 19. Mostly BONES and the«Crispy» outer portion(which the menu says) and VERY little meat. I asked the server(before I ordered it) who HIGHLY recommended it if it was fried and he said no it was just the way they baked it and it was not fried. When our server asked how I liked it I told him it was small. He had the manager come out who told me that was just the size they were getting their ducks these days. OK — I AMNOTKIDDING. Think«Quail Leg» size! When it arrived it looked like a lamb lollipop, took out the bone, left with mostly MORE bone and the fried outer crispy skin and 5 – 6 tiny bites(if that) of meat. Thank God we had the mussels before or I would have been left ordering another entrée or appetizer. Is the new menu a Tapas menu??? My friend ordered the salmon-Texas shrimp cakes. SUPERFISHY. So much so he actually had to send this one back or he wouldn’t have had anything to eat. Second try: Sole. It was better but not something to be ordered again. And at $ 22, really not something to be ordered again. Side Order: Whipped Butternut Squash. It was so thick we could barely get it off the spoon. I love Butternut Squash but after two bites, this is not something you can enjoy. When we asked about dessert our server said«Oh, don’t worry, I have something coming that you’ll love and the Manager is buying it for you.» He never asked us what we were in the mood for or wanted and brought us out«ricotta-filled”-“sugar-covered”-“doughnut holes/balls» GROSS!!! We took one bite to try to like them and almost gagged! When the server asked if we liked them we told them we wouldn’t recommend them to someone that didn’t like doughnuts and he said«Oh, you don’t like doughnuts… major problem then!» and he brought us our check! What I had I REALLY wanted this chocolate thing I had seen walk by earlier! I would have rather paid for my dessert but after all of the above, I’d rather leave! Total cost of meal and three drinks: $ 105 + tip We walked to the back at Bar Celine. It was a Friday night and the DJ was so loud we couldn’t hear each other, the bartender couldn’t hear us or others so we walked next door to play our favorite video games and some Jenga at Barcadia! Good Luck to ya Park! Love the space, no longer a favorite of mine and will no longer be recommending. p. s. to Park: I’m happy you changed the menu but I guess get a new Chef!

Park! What the lark! You were supposed to be my go-to fancy date place and«impress my hip friends from Portland who only have locally-grown produce based restaurants to eat at» locale. We ate here for a second time last Friday. First time was fine, but I was in really good company. And I drank a few Ramblin’ Mans at Bar Celine before… This Friday was an insane buzzkill before our night out. We ordered our food and one of the items was not brought to our table with everything else. After mentioning it to the waiter and finishing the rest of our food, we asked if we could exchange it for a dessert instead. After selecting a comped dessert we waited ANOTHER45 minutes to have that brought to our table. Are you for real? Thank goodness we didn’t have theatre tickets or something of that fancy and time-sensitive nature. But my friends — the thing that really made my stomach turn was as I waited in line for the bathroom(there is always a three-deep wait for the single bathroom), I watched the food coming out of the kitchen and witnessed, with another girl as my backup, a table runner take his bare hands and move around a steak on some poor, helpless and ignorant diner’s plate. It is one thing to have subpar food(which I believe they do), it is another to have rude and uninterested waitstaff(which I know they do), but please do not charge me 22 for an entrée if you intend to touch it with your hands before serving it to me. Ah please and thank you!

Ordered: the Trout The fish was so salty. The price didn’t fit the taste. I could cook the fish like that at home.(salt, pepper and sprinkle of corn, topped off with little greens) My others friends ordered the pizza, mussel, and pork. Every dish was way too salty. I guess they went happy with the salt that night to really make their customers unhappy. The hostess was nice, but our waiter was horrible. He wasn’t nice as he was taking our order. We waited over an hour and half for our food. The waiter didn’t bother to check up on us. He could have at least told us that the food is coming, but failed to do so. Once our check came out for whatever reason the water hoovered around our table waiting for us to give him the tab. I guess we were his last table and he wanted to leave ASAP. Sadly to say the only good food we ate was the cake that wasn’t provided by Park. They changed chef and due to this as usual a domino effect. Changed chef, changed menu, changed taste of food, and sadly to say PARK no longer was the Park we all knew since this took effect. Our table was not the only one who had the same feelings towards Park. This other party said their waiter was rude, they waited a long time to receive and order their food, and complained that the food wasn’t great as it use to be. To be quiet honest I had to rate this restaurant with a star, but it doesn’t even deserve a star. Play it safe when it comes to Park, they can’t mess up on drinks, now can they? Maybe you will have to wait on obtaining a drink, but lets hope its not over an hour wait. Eat somewhere else prior to arriving at Park.

My friend had her birthday dinner here last night and it was my first time dining here. Unfortunately, it will absolutely be my last unless they hire a new chef or come up with a completely new menu. It was TERRIBLE! Where should I start? We had an 8:30 reservation for a party of 15 — a large group, but not unmanageable. We had a crappy table out on the enclosed patio area so our table was half on the gravel, half on the wood floor. It was freezing outside so the draft kept blowing underneath the plastic awning/wall thing and my feet were so cold. Let’s make the best of it and order our food and drinks! A couple of friends who have frequently dined and raved about Park were extremely disappointed to see that there was a completely new menu with none of their favorites still on it. It was extremely limited and all entries were over $ 20. All appetizers were over $ 10. Ok, so it’s a little pricey, but I don’t mind it if it’s delicious. I ordered the trout and hubby got the ribs. All our friends ordered something different to try out. Then our server told us they were out of the hanger steak. It must’ve been because everything else did NOT look appetizing and everyone ordered all the steak before we did! hah. We place our order by 9:30 — an hour and 15 minutes later, our food was STILL not out. No rolls, no bread or anything to hold us over. We were all famished and finally the busboy comes by our table after seeing that we are anxiously looking around for our waiter and asked us if we needed anything. Finally, our server brings out our dishes and we all clap. At this point, we’re soooo hungry, we think everything will taste great, right?! WRONG. The $ 23 trout tasted like they dumped salt and pepper on it. I felt like I could’ve made it at home. My friend asked me how the sweet corn tasted like w/my entrée, and I was just like«OH, there was corn w/my dish?» Hubby’s ribs were so overseasoned — but i guess they were tender. It’s ONLY saving grace. We had had every version of the flatbread and it CERTAINLY did fall flat. The best part of our meal was the birthday cake we brought in. Our server didn’t ask us if we wanted to split the check or anything. Look, I’ve been to plenty of restaurants with bad service, but if the food is good, I can totally overlook it. But Park left such a bad taste in my mouth, I couldn’t wait to pop a piece of gum afterwards. It was just such an upsetting dining experience a few of us downloaded the Unilocal app right at the table to make sure to review this place. Management needs to step it up because out of our table of 15, NOONEWILLCOMEBACK.

I don’t know why the average rating for this place is only 3.5 stars. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our first time at Park. The décor was modern and the atmosphere was very vibrant with the late 20s to early 30s crowd. We had reservations at 8:30 for 6 and it only took about 10 – 15 minutes to get us seated. I loved the food! Everything we ordered was delicious. I am still thinking about the champagne steamed mussels that our table shared. We also shared Park’s take on the traditional mac n cheese. They used pepe pasta, gouda cheese, mushrooms and squash. I ordered the chicken fried steak and my friend ordered the pork chop. Both were good but the porkchop was especially juicy and full of flavor. I do wish we had room for dessert but the food we ordered was quite enough to keep us satisfied. The service was average, though it did take a rather long time for our entrees to come out. We did not mind because we were still enjoying our drinks and appetizers. Thank you Unilocal for helping me discover this place! I will definitely go back and try more dishes and hang out at Bar Celine which is located directly behind the restaurant.

What can I say about a place that has a vegetarian Cesar Salad? Gosh, that is such a rare treat that is usually only available at vegetarian restaurants so I was super pleased to see it on the menu. Along with Vegan wine options this place is pretty darn enlightened. It was a bit loud and dark last Saturday night but a great atmosphere for a late 9pm dinner with my husband, my best friend and her BF. Our waiter started off strong, bringing us each our choice of drinks relatively quickly and then inquiring if we wanted appetizers. We needed a while… We eventually started with the Thai Corn Cakes. Very, very good. Amazing flavor, served hot and the dipping sauce was super interesting. The only complaint would be that two of the four cakes would not stay together while trying to serve them off the plate. After serving my self and my gal I realized quickly that those first two must have been not cooked right as the bottom two served to the boys were just fine. Regardless, the texture was satisfying. As the evening continued our waiter David was reduced to slow mode. Not sure why he pulled a hiding act. The water glasses are short and water was gone quickly but not refilled in an acceptable amount of time. We waited for our check, we waited for him to pick up the cards, we waited for him to run the cards and bring them back. Did I say that earlier in the night I built a water glass tower of empty glasses before my gal’s BF leaned over and grabbed a water bottle from a servers station? Back to that salad. Awesome. I also ordered some fries to split with Hubby as he had a 5:30pm «first dinner» with his grandparents. I know, I know. Mmm, those fries were phenomenal. I will confidently say after tasting these three items that the food at Park is to die for. We ended our night on the front patio and were joined by buckets of friends. Front patio is cool, waterfall, wood cutouts make up the benches and tables. Lots of people watching along Henderson. This place is the tops but I hope you get a better server. I really could have done better waiting on our table all by myself.

Few things make me happier than a kick ass chicken fried steak and Park has just that. Judging by the Unilocal reviews to get it, I followed along and played the battered and fried red meat game. Glad I did. The batter has some of spicy seasoning in it so have some water near by. But it is light, perfectly fried and the meat is beautifully tender. They use Flat Iron opposed to the typical«what is left over? We’ll use that» approach. They give you a line of gravy on top which did pose a problem for me… I would have liked a bucket and a mainline of said bacon gravy. It was devine. For apps we had the chips & queso. The chips weren’t anything to write home about — seemed brought in – but the queso was obviously home made from scratch. It had the grittiness of artisan cheese and a béchamel opposed to velveta + rottel = QUESO! For dessert I had the lemon bar with blueberry’s on top and it was great. It comes with this foam on the side that tastes like a Sprite concentrate. Steer clear of that if you’re not a fan of super strong, over powering flavors. All in all this joint was cool. Very Jaspers but backyard chic, Aston Martins and Porsche’s outside. Service was a bit«off» last night — read: super slow — but we forgave him as we all had drinks. Regardless, all things said, I’d go back, I’d just maybe pick a slow night.

I went to Park to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I’m an Interior Designer – so I’ll start with the décor. It is quirky and campy – reminds me of something I’d come across in Austin(only less authentic). I love the whole theme of it all. The décor, branding, food, food names, drink names-I like a restaurant that is well thought-out. I think they definitely need more bathrooms – waiting in the busy hall for the bathroom was a little annoying. The highlights for me were: #1. Jagger’s Lips #2. Awesome Service. Jagger’s Lips… That drink was amazing! AMAZING! That poor bartender muddles fruit all night long – but seriously… Greygoose, Strawberries… yummo! We started with the Grilled Green Bulb Onions. They were good – I have to commend them for their creativity. I am actually excited to make these at home the next time we grill. For my entrée I had the Hanger Steak Frites sans Frites. I substituted fresh sauteed spinach for the fries – SOOO good – it was cooked with a lot of garlic… the steak was good, too. It wasn’t amazeballs good – but good. The dessert… we were at a table of 10 and between the group, we pretty much ordered one of everything. After tasting all of them, I have to say that my dessert, Granny Smith Brioche Bread Pudding, was the BEST! I loved it! Through the entire service, our server was fabulous. She was quick with our orders, drinks, and at the last minute(after the bill was already given) she asked us if we’d like for her to split it… not an easy task what with all the sharing and couples. We said YES and the checks were back within 5 minutes. Very impressed. Go. Park. Drink. Be merry.

This review is for the brunch. A friend had called ahead after I got off of work to let me know that Park offered brunch till 3pm on Sundays so that’s where we went. I had a bellini to start off and it was quite tasty, but at $ 5 a pop I just had one. I was hungry and thirsty and if I had any more it would have been an expensive brunch. I’ll stick with beers.(No, I promise I’m not an alky!) For the brunch food, I thought the menu offering was very limited, but I guess with the few things they offer they concentrate on making them very well. I had the Veggie Fritatta. For some reason this Fritatta reminded me of Rachel Ray, ehh. It came with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, and… I don’t remember what else. For me it tasted a little bland. I would have added some bell peppers maybe even some jalepeno peppers. I added a bunch of salt and black pepper to help it. I probably won’t be back for brunch, but I might for lunch and dinner.

Park is nearing 5 stars for me. And I grant it thus as it is a lounge/bar, not a restaurant. I think if you try and approach Park as a restaurant, you may get befuddled. So I stick within my safety zone of protocol and I am blissfully happy every time. Do: Take advantage of free valet parking, sit at the bar or patio, order the mussels if you want a snack, try their selection of draft beers, or maybe a wine, be prepared for a bit of that Dallas thing.

I’m a sucker for a place on Henderson… especially someplace with an innuendo name for making out. I have been dying to try this place, I saw when it was being built, I saw when they opened and yet… I didn’t go. Finally my home girl was like«we’re going» Ok twist my arm. The atmosphere is pretty cool… very rustic, but with that uptown chic(whatever that means). The menu(in my opinion) is somewhat small, but the choices are things you wouldn’t see at many places. Like the grilled spring harvest onions served with this tomato basil sauce. I mean who orders a plate of onions? For an appetizer? Well my friend did… and when the waitress brought them over she was like«do you know how to eat these?» I was like… what, its food, chew and swallow? But apparently you are only supposed to eat the bulbs… which were actually quite good. It’s one of those plates where you’re going eww what a boring dish, and then its like an explosion in your mouth! Very exciting. For dinner I got the hanger steak frites with chimmichuri sauce. *drool*, great great dish. The steak(for those of you who are thinking about Tillman’s hanger steak, this is NOT fried) was cooked perfect med-rare and the chimi sauce was shampoo worthy! Thinly sliced(aww, they cut my food for me). It also came with about 1,000 fries which were just delightful… I mean, steak and fries. Yum-O! The drinks were good too, I can’t remember the names, but one had lots of bourbon in it… and fruit. The other one had a big strawberry in it… delicious! Our waitress was nice. Attentive, but not stalker like. Good recs and helpful. I noticed that most of the people there were with large parties(at least 3 or more)…maybe its becoming a «party» type place… hmmm. I’d def be interested to try their brunch… that menu looks ridic. I’ve also never been to their«after hours» bar. So obviously this review was just on the restaurant aspect. I would def recommend… eat your food Tina.

2 stars for ambiance: great lighting, amazing outdoor patio with a really neat vibe, cloth napkins. Zero stars for food, which is, believe it or not, why I go to restaurants, so I probably wont come back to Park. Our server recommended a Meze Platter to me and it was sooo gross. It looked like clay and dirt and tasted worse. My friend got the Mozzarella tomato salad– and it was mostly lettuce– hardly any mozzarella at all! Soooo disappointing food-wise. Not good.

With the addition of the Park, East Henderson is becoming increasingly an interesting area to explore and one can see the promise of a lot of other wonderful retail establishments to come. Not quite sure what to expect, my dinner date and I were surprised when we had problems scoring a parking spot in the lot next to the Park on a Tuesday night. From the hopping scene indoors and the 20 – 30 minute wait time for an indoor table on a Tuesday night, it was obvious to me that we had finally turned a corner with the recession. We opted for a seat on their outdoor patio that hugs the Henderson corridor. I can’t comment too much about the indoor seating, but the outdoor patio is a pleasing, eclectic mix of outdoor cabin and intriguing patio furniture. The tree in the middle of the patio emits a soft glow on diner at night when the Christmas lights are turned on. What’s most pleasing about the Park is its dedication to sustainable restaurant practices, everything from the home filtered bottled water(sparkling and non-sparkling) to a nascent bee colony where they’re hoping to culture their own honey. It reminds me a lot of my eco-friendly darling, Bolsa, in Bishop Arts District. Bolsa still holds a special spot in my heart(and stomach) as it edges out the Park with amazing food. The food at the Park is solid for sure with dishes ranging from a solid 3.5 to 4. The Swedish meatball appetizers were perfect for sharing with another person. Probably a tease if you’re planning to split it with more than 2 people. The taco platter trio was good, with the short rib taco a solid notch above the bean or grilled chicken. Short rib was tender and well marinated. The Gouda mac and cheese with a side of artichokes will be a vegetarian favorite. I was surprised to find soft pieces of squash in my mac and cheese, but it was flavorful and decadent despite its healthy label. The food may not wow you especially given the number of other fantastic restaurants on Henderson, but it won’t disappoint. Craft beer and wine selection at the Park deserves an honorable mention for the variety and depth of selection as well. Service at the Park was friendly and low key. Our waiter seemed like someone I’d meet at a local coffee shop. Given its sustainability roots, the trendy crowds that grace the Park’s scene night after night seems a bit of an unexpected contradiction. I expected more of a low key environment, but the Park, to its own credit, has somehow established its cool eco-friendly badge.
