Good place for a Moscow Mule where you can actually hear your friends talk to you. If that’s your thing. Bathroom has interesting messages.

Yeah, don’t go here. So many better places anywhere in Dallas with better food and service. We did visit on «half price Tuesdays.» Walked in and waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Had no idea if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait! There’s a bar in the middle of the place surrounded by dining tables. There were only about 4 other parties there. It was super strange that they had Chopped Jr. and poker on TV over, like, any number of sports games that were going on. Ordered an app to start and then a meal for each of us. Brought out one sandwich and then a few minutes later, my meal. No guac showed up and my meal was incomplete(I ordered the cheese fries with vegan chili and they came out chili-free.) Eventually managed to wave down our waitress and get the rest of our food, but it was cold by the time it finally arrived. Nothing was good. Stale chips, old and watery guacamole, overly salted fries and burger. Just not good. Left most of our food on the table, disappointed. But hey, it was half price, right? We’ll just chalk it up to experience and not go back. Split our tickets and planned to go on our way. However, my receipt arrived and totaled $ 8.55. Huh? I ordered the $ 9.95 cheese fries with vegan chili, this seems high for half price. Pretty clearly itemized on the menu. Again, have to wait f-o-r-e-v-e-r to flag down the waitress. I ask why there is a $ 0.70 «loaded» charge and $ 2.88 «vegan chili» charge on top of the $ 4.32 «cheese fries» charge. Half of $ 9.95 is pretty clearly $ 4.98, so I was being overcharged by almost $ 3. I was(very condescendingly) told that ordering cheese fries with vegan chili actually doesn’t include cheese OR vegan chili! You have to pay the $ 0.70(or $ 1.40 normally) and $ 2.88(or $ 5.75 normally) to get those added on. So, apparently you can pay $ 8.65 for fries and then… I’m not sure, add whatever you want on? Makes total sense. [eyeroll] Anyway, the whole experience and staff was super shady and will be filing a chargeback with my credit card because that is lying and stealing. Again, don’t waste your time or your money. Just about anywhere is better than here.

Only came for a quick beer stop. Lots of room and good selection of brews on tap– and bottles. For two draft beers we paid $ 11, a good deal in my opinion. Didn’t try the food although I believe they have a pretty decent menu by observing people near me. Would definitely come back!

This place has a cool scene going on but their brunch is just NOT worth it. The cool food drinks were a good concept but the food in it was soooooo terrible — overdone burger with stale buns and stale toppings. The Bloody Mary was extremely salty with barely any alcohol. Would not recommend for brunch…

Dayum, Sunday brunches are brutal here! It’s packed full of people, and the bar basically comes alive. Pretty interesting grunge crowd. I kind of love it. My friend and I luckily snagged a couple of seats front and center at the bar. Lock was head bartender and was slammed. It took him awhile to get to us, but we’ve been in the service industry. Nothin’ but time. When he finally got to us, he was sweet and made sure to get our orders first when a couple other people tried to butt in. Honestly, the pics of the massive bloody mary, sangria, and mimosa brunch drinks don’t do it justice. I’ll save the redundancy and keep my picture to myself. They are absolutely insanely extravagant, and the most fun I’ve ever had drinking a cocktail. My bloody mary had an effin’ cheeseburger slider on top… like, what?! I’m still scratching my head a little at the price tag($ 20 a pop), but hey, when in Rome. This is real life, people. Eff yo brunch.

I love this place so much! I go here for brunch and get their brunch cocktails. Basically it is $ 20 for a large ‘brunch drink’ with your food on sticks in your drink! Oh, and it comes with a PBR too. I was really suprised at how much drinks you get compared to the price… but you don’t get much food in the drink so I recommend getting another dish/side to share. They are pretty packed on Sundays so it can be rough trying to find a table since it’s so packed but a few usually clears up pretty quick. I highly recommend getting the sangria brunch and ordering a side of the cinnamon rolls(they are the best!)

Is it possible to give less than one star? Short story: Hostile, rude, confrontational bar and waitstaff with some pretty obvious opinions about the«type» of people that want in the bar make this an unpleasant place to be. Long story; The first time I came here with coworkers the night started out wonderfully-strong drinks and decent food. However, as we were a large group, we were being a little loud. Keep in mind, the music was also loud and there were other large groups around us. We had been talking and joking, when a bartender came over to our table(not our server) and asked a friend to have a seat because, «they’re trying to serve other people too.» Fine. If it happens once, maybe it’s a fluke. Came here again with coworkers this week, and the waitress starts the evening with a bad attitude. After we’ve been sitting, eating, and drinking(with an acceptable noise level) for a few hours, the bartender brings us our checks again and says-«you all need to keep it down, we’re trying to serve other people here.» Meanwhile the table of 20 large men behind has a couple of guys who had just finished humping each other. I felt this was worth asking about, and went to the bar to express that we hadn’t planned on leaving just yet, and would like to understand why our checks had been brought. They explained that they could lose their liquor license… What does that have to do with noise level? I went back to my table and essentially told my group we should just leave because it was obviously about who we were and not anything else, when the waitress came over, stood over me and started pointing and saying, «No this is about you being f****** drunk,(used my last name)!» At that point, I left. From what my coworkers said, it got more serious after that once I left. Needless to say, never returning.

If you truly hate yourself, and judgmental bartenders with a holier-than-thou attitude are your kind of people, then Anvil Pub is your place to be. We were looking for a chill place to hang out on Sunday night as we were exploring Dallas. This was not that. The bartender acted like he was a bougie parking meter. Didn’t really explain himself, gave us condescending attitude, charged at us to kick us out. Rude. Maybe it’s because we were Asian. There are friendlier bars out there. Pay them a visit instead.

Only stopped in for drinks, but had a great time. Love the ambiance and the service was great. Next time I’m in Dallas, I apparently need to try the brunch as pointed out in the other reviews!

Staff very unprofessional. If you happen to speak your mind here get ready to physically be taken out by the workers at this bar. Go spend your money somewhere else. I never got the name of the bartender but he took the chair out from under me when I was still sitting on it.

Came here with a group of friends a few weeks ago for Brunch. They’re brunch drinks with food are absolutely impressive, and good too! I just wish it wasn’t so expensive! However, everything was delicious. The service was eh okay, but it’s understandable because they were incredibly busy.

I’m never going back. I went on a Monday night, with only one table of three and then 13 people sitting around the bar, in the entire place. Three people behind the bar. We had planned drinks and dinner, so no small check. 23 minutes later of bartenders walking past our table, standing next to our table and chatting, watching them go outside and smoke together and leave the bar side otherwise unattended, etc., I realized that there is literally nothing about this bar that is worth waiting for. I sat for 23 minutes on a Monday night with 90% of the bar empty and nope, not even a word. I happily went down the street to give someone else my money. Pay attention to the bad reviews they’re all about mediocre food, rude staff, or bad service. There’s a reason.

Came in on a Sunday afternoon and grabbed two seats at the bar, the bartender acted offended that we sat in his area and then proceeded to not take our order for the next 15 minutes. We finally caught the drift and left for the place up the street. I’m sure Anvil is a great spot, but we never had the chance to find out. Very disappointing.

Had a blast of a brunch at this dine. My only complaints are that it literally takes forever and they don’t open until 11. I guess for a bar that’s pretty standard… But for my hungry self on daylight savings this was almost a big deterrent. We came because we heard about the FUCKBRUNCH cocktails. Get one if you come… They’re worth it. Price is $ 20 but comes with a large boozy brunch drink, a PBR, and a decent amount of food. Although probably not enough food to make a full meal. I suggest eating before or splitting something with a fellow bruncher. We walked in at about 11:05 and were pushed off to the doorway by 3 large parties. The whole restaurant was full in minutes. Service was slow but the whole place was swamped very quickly. Would be a great place for groups and Sunday football although we had to bail out early. Area seems a little sketchy but very up and coming.

Let me start out and say: very neat environment. Now, to the real experience. After 30 minutes of ordering, My fuck brunch mimosa was very watered down, food was cold, and really struggled to get some service. You’re definitely paying for the experience of having a drink with food sticking out of it. I won’t be going back… But yes, I did get a cool picture of food sticking out of my drink!

For the historic and trendy area that this is, I would honestly expect better even of a Pub. The plus side is that the service is super helpful(especially since we had a decently drunk person in the group). The food did come out fast and hot, and this places has this interesting feel that is cross of Irish pub and local hang out bar. So what was wrong with this place — the food is just bland and/or not interesting. I had the sage pizza, basically super dry, rather tasteless pizza with jalopeno on it. My friend had the reuben — still nothing exciting. Fries were bland as well. Oh and for Texas, it was a little bit pricier than I expected(nothing too bad)… but not worth it.

Excellent find for me in Deep Ellum. I’m in or around DE a lot, and while there are already tons of great places to eat… there’s always room for another spot, especially one with vegan options. Anvil Pub is close to a lot of great music spots(Dada, Trees, etc.) so it’s definitely a great option for a few drinks before and after a show. Their drink list is pretty extensive(hopefully so, it’s a pub) so you should be able to find your beverage of choice. I visited on a Sunday afternoon. The weather was nice, and they do have some limited outdoor seating, but unfortunately it was all taken. Inside, it’s pretty dark unless you get a place by the windows. They have a huge bar with plenty of seating. A couple of monitors dot the walls above the bar and on the walls. NBA and racing happened to be on a couple of them at the time. The service was decent. I was led to my seat and gave my order. The main reason that I came here was because I read that they have a lot of vegan options. I ordered the vegan tacos and a mimosa(it was still close to brunch time). The tacos were ok. They were basically sauteed zucchini and squash chunks with some avocado and meatless crumbles on corn tortillas. I honestly could have done it myself… but it wasn’t bad or anything. The mimosa was OK. Everything was OK. I would say this… based on it’s location, Anvil Pub is a great choice for drinks and a bite if you’re headed that way to go to a concert or something. It’s also a great option for some vegan dishes as well. I’m going to go back in the future, and I will update my review when I do.

I had never visited Anvil pub until last night. For over 3 years I’ve successfully avoided this place and watched it change from a kind of average dirty watering hole with food to soak up the alcohol, to teeming neighborhood bar that appears less grungy or interesting for the area. Deep Ellum sugar free — for yuppies. Despite my bias I found myself in its dark recesses visiting good friends on a cold Winter night. They were drinking hot toddies — I stuck with wine. There were only two red wine options Pinot noir and merlot, insulting and annoying overpriced gestures for even an unsophisticated oenophile. I got hungry and we ordered chips and guacamole. The chips tasted store bought, and some were stale. The guacamole tasted out of a bag. I was impressed that they had vegan chili, and that’s what I ordered with tomatoes and lettuce on top. It wasn’t completely flavorful but it was nice to have a healthy option at a bar. I felt very comfortable there, despite its provinciality invading the one Dallas neighborhood that can probably be solidly described as funky. This place has a consoling atmosphere and our waitress chick was hot, but I still find it uninterestingly generic and I don’t find the product particularly notable. This place could be at an airport. Stop the suburbanization of Deep Ellum!

My attraction to this place is not the food. In all honesty I’ve only eaten once here. I like this place for its personality. BT’S are super friendly, and, there’s one that really stands out. The customer base is always cool and laid back types. Such has been my experience anyway. I tried the chili here and had them add cheese and onions. They have a meat and bean chili. Hellz yeah. When I make chili, that’s exactly how I do it. Theirs was tasty enough and thank goodness not greasy. What would have made their chili really stand out would have been peppers, fresh garlic, and, maybe a little more chili powder. Their chili was really mild on flavor.
