Very yummy Poke and Poke bowls. I liked it that you can create your own poke bowls. Posted a few pics. Will be going back.

Alright, I get it, Poke is taking over the Bay Area. And guess what, I am totally okay with that because I love having the different options for poke! What makes this place different from the other handful of poke places in the area is that they are NOT customizable. Which is fine by me because the quality of their poke was above and beyond. Their fish is imported a number of times from Hawaii. They are already tossed in various sauces, which I love because they flavor the fish very well. I also love how they let you sample a few, or even all of them if you’re that indecisive like I was. No other poke place I know does that and I think that’s important because it sucks when you get stuck with something you don’t even like. With this, you’ll always know what you’re getting, no surprises! The employees are also extremely friendly and patient with explaining to you everything and picking out samples, etc. So you can also buy this yummy poke by the pound. I went with getting a bowl, da poke lover bowl, with miso salmon and kukui nut ahi over black rice. Black rice is a little more firmer, not as soft as white rice, but healthier just like brown rice. I thought it went well with poke because it gave a nice contrast to the soft, melt in your mouth poke. For sides on the poke, I had imitation crab and lomi lomi salmon which is basically like a pico de gallo but with salmon. All in all, this place is my favorite poke spot so far.

We passed by on the way to San Francisco for a quick lunch stop. The service wasn’t that fast since there were so many people in line, trying all the samples. However, the staff was very nice(he seemed like the owner). He took the time to explain every type of poke and flavor for us. The fish here is shipped from Hawaii 3 or 4 times a week and you can definitely see them preparing for the poke in the back. Everything just looks so fresh! It comes with salad, white, brown, or black rice. You can choose 2 different pokes in a bowl, and you also get 2 side salads! This is definitely a great place to go for poke, with great service and fresh food.

Alohaaaaa~ So this place is pretty different than the other poke chains that have been opening lately in the Bay Area. This place stands out because its not just the creamy mayo type of poke. It’s more authentic in its flavors. They offer a gingery base, wasabi, sriracha mayo, shoyu, kukuni nut, and a sweet base poke sauce. Mac salad as a side dish to poke? I’m in! I tasted the shoyu sauce and it isn’t too salty, which is how I like it. The sriracha mayo salmon was good but wish it was spicier! The owner is very friendly and offers samples to try the different fish. The fish here tastes REALLY fresh and not fatty at all. This place is great for health conscious eaters! They offer black rice for a dollar extra, as well. There is free water at the back of the restaurant. Parking is decent for a booming plaza. Not many tables inside but there is almost a dozen big tables located outside. While a bowl of poke here is typically $ 13, the scoops of fish are pretty generous so I definitely think it’ll fill you up. Only downside is that they don’t have avocado as a side.

Brah. Yes. Oh my gosh yes. K so I was born and raised in Hawaii, came up to the bay for school. Been here for 6 – 7 years now. This poke bowl is, hands down like 6 oclock, tha best one I’ve had up here. Fa SHO. I was looking for a place to eat lunch today and found this place on Unilocal.I’d like to give it up for technology, because it led me to this place and this place is delicious. Local people, if you’re looking for a poke bowl, please come here. The folks here are friendly, they let me sample their fish jerky, and they gave the extra poke from the batch they made(fresh, on the spot!) for the pound I picked up. Da stats: 1 poke bowl, black rice(which was winnas) ½ wasabi and tobiko(plenty tobiko) ½ spicy sriracha? maybe chipotle? I forget, but it had kakimochi in it(which I wouldn’t have expected but added a crunch, also very good) Mac Salad & Kim Chee 1 lb miso(which I haven’t tried yet as I purchased it to share with my lady) the extra pieces from the batch of miso I went around 3 – 3:30 pm on a Friday afternoon, so there was only one other guy there. Order was ready quickly. I will definitely, definitely be back. Kanak attacking at work right now but I had to get this review up. K shoots

My husband wasn’t feeling good afterwards. Must’ve not been fresh. Watched them pull the trays in and out. No difference just leaving it just sit in the air when it doesn’t even sit inside the fridge more than a minute. If you have trouble going bathroom; take a bite or a bowl of this stuff and will help u go… Visit the toilet.

My first time here after going to Go Fish Poke a few times. I’m a fan of both but they’re different from each other. Actually Aloha Fresh is just different from most of the other poke bars around here and isn’t so «chipotle-styled» but is more reminiscent of a typical poke joint from Hawaii. Their fish isn’t diced into pieces as small as other places and is super fresh. Supposedly their fish is flown in from Hawaii and their octopus is from Japan! The process: –Choice of either white rice or black grain rice. I like mixing the two so I ask for half and half –Their poke is already premixed/marinated so it isn’t quite as customizable but there are many options to choose from such as miso salmon, sweet soy salmon, wasabi salmon, shoyu ahi, wasabi ahi, kimchi marinated ahi, and traditional poke. You can choose one kind or half and half, and my understanding is that their poke options sometimes change. –Then you pick two sides: cucumber salad, seaweed salad, imitation crab salad, lomi lomi(basically a pico de gallo with chopped salmon) and more. Reasons for 4 stars and not 5: –They don’t offer salad greens as an option for a base –No water cups available, but there are drinks for purchase –Wish there was an option to add avocado! –The fish is SO good that it’s almost too good to be made into a poke; I’d almost rather enjoy it with wasabi and ginger and have it plain over rice. I got half white rice half black rice, half sweet soy salmon, half traditional poke, with imitation crab and lomi lomi as my sides. Everything was pretty good, especially the salmon. The crab salad was not my favorite because it was too saucy. $ 13 per bowl and $ 1 extra if you opt for black rice, but before you judge and think that’s expensive, I do think their fish quality is the best I’ve had among all the poke places and their fish portion is decent. I would compare it to more gourmet poke places rather than the typical build-your-own poke bars. You can also buy the fish by the pound, but I didn’t take a look at the prices before leaving.

This place serves authentic Hawaiian style poke!!! I’m not talking about the joints here that serve what they think is poke with no Hawaiian influence whatsoever. I am talking about a place opened by local born Hawaiians who came to the mainland and make poke the right and only way. I know this because my ukulele teacher from years ago helped open this spot with some of his friends. Thanks, Rodney! Growing up on Oahu, eating poke throughout the week was a normal thing to do. Moving to California in 2008, there wasn’t anything similar to the poke from home so I made my own. It was difficult to find fresh fish for a moderate price though. Here at Aloha Fresh, they serve fresh fish shipped from Hawaii which can be purchased individually by the pound or half-pound, served with rice and 2 sides(mac salad, lomi lomi salmon, seaweed salad, and a few others), or on one of their other plates. I ordered Hawaiian style ahi poke and wasabi and tobiko ahi poke with Mac salad and lomi lomi salmon. The mac salad was on point. I believe it was a potato mac salad, which is the best tasting mac salad ever! The Hawaiian style poke was very traditional and not very saucy. It had seaweed as well. I asked where they get it because I can’t find that specific type here when I make my own poke. The girl helping me said they also get it from Hawaii and can be ordered by the pound or half-pound as well. I’m not too much of a lomi lomi salmon fan, but it tastes good with big chunks of salmon in it. I chose white rice over black rice because I’m just accustomed to eating white rice with my poke. I also ordered half a pound of tako(octopus) which was served with a wasabi mayo if I remember correctly. It was really good. I hope they serve smoke octopus in the future though. We were offered fried salmon skin as well, for free! It was so good and reminded me of times my grandma made them when I was younger. 2 bowls with sides, half-pound of tako poke, and 2 Kern juices were about $ 40. Although it is a little pricey, I would definitely come back here. I prefer quality and consistency over anything else when it refers to food, clothing, etc, and I believe Aloha Fresh will serve consistently delicious poke for years to come. Aloha Fresh serves AUTHENTIC Hawaiian style poke.

Not my favorite of the poke spots that have been popping up left and right in the bay area, but I really admire that they are taking a very different approach from other spots in the bay area. They offer poke to go(by the pound) or poke bowls where you pick your base, 2 of their pre-mixed pokes, and then you get 2 sides. I went for a bowl(half rice, half salad) with their nut salmon and shoyu ahi. The nut salmon mix that I got was insanely salty. I think someone must have over-salted it because it was close to being inedible. I was able to mix it into the rest of the bowl to mute it down a bit, but I wasn’t a fan of that. The ahi was delicious and I thought that blend was successful. I got the crab as a side and it was too creamy for my taste. All in all, I think I lean a little more towards ‘naked’ poke and adding in sauces because I like much more simple flavors with the fish, but if you like your poke with lots of sauce/dressing, this place does a great job offering a wide variety based on different cultural mixes. You can also try each of the poke blends before you choose them!

Food(4⁄5): I split two surf and turf bowls with two others, and it was a good amount of food. Surf and turf bowls come with your choice of poke, kalua pork, rice or salad, and 2 sides. We tried the kukui nut salmon poke, shoyu poke, black rice, white rice, seaweed salad, crab salad, macaroni salad, and the lomi salmon. I thought everything except the pork was really good! The pork was dry, though — next time I’ll just stick to a poke bowl. Service(3⁄5): The servers were all super nice and gave free samples! I really hated how they wouldnt give us cups of tap water, though — if you want water, you have to buy a bottle for $ 1. I’m think not giving customers tap water is possibly illegal, but definitely super stingy. Value(3⁄5): A bit on the pricey side, considering that the bowl was mostly rice and not that much poke. And the water… still butthurt about that haha.

I was walking around the plaza this one night while waiting to be sat at a nearby restaurant. As I passed by Aloha Fresh, I thought, «Is this an ice cream shop?» I looked even closer and saw that I was wrong; it’s a poke place!!! I was thrilled. I had to try it, so I finally went earlier today to see what this place was all about. *cue Hawaiian music* Let the workers know that it’s your first time there so they can give you some recommendations and tell you how to order. :) A delicious poke bowl from here ranges from ~$ 13 – 15. There are preselected bowls too if you’re unsure of what to get. Basically, to build your bowl, you first choose your base: rice or salad. I chose black rice(additional $ 1). It was my first time having black rice and it was so good! I loved it. Next, choose two poke. There are several kinds of poke that they over, but I went for the kukui nut salmon and kukui nut tuna. Both had huge pieces and were marinated very well in their sauces. I thought the kukui nut salmon was a little too salty for my taste however. Nonetheless, the poke tasted awesome and fresh. Finally, choose two sides. They have six different sides to choose from, but I went with the imitation crab and macaroni salad. The sides went well with the poke to counteract any strong flavors(I ate the imitation crab with the kukui nut salmon to dilute that saltiness). Overall, I think Aloha Fresh is a very authentic poke place and makes you feel like you’re ordering poke straight from Hawaii! Definitely a must try when in the area.

Haven’t really have good poke for a really long time, therefore, when I found out about this place I was quite excited. This is a really small store right next to Beard Papa. They only have 4 tables inside the store, each table can fit 2 people. So it’s not a good place for family or big group of friends. Might be easier to just take out and find a place to eat? Or eat your food at the tables located outside(the public seating). My friend and I never ordered at the place before, so we are not quite sure how to order like many of other Unilocalers on here. We also do not know how their poke taste like. But no need to worry, the staff member will provide you free samples so you can basically taste everything before making your decision. You can either order poke by itself by the pounds or you can order a poke bowl, which included 2 types of meats and 2 types of side dishes. I ordered a poke bowl with kuikui poke and tako poke with chipolet or sriracha dressing on the side. As for my side dishes I went for the ocean salad(seaweeds) and crab salad(i believed this is imitation crab). The kuikui poke it’s my favorite out of all the poke. The dressing itself it’s on a more sweet side, but it might be a bit overpowering and you cannot really taste the ahi tuna itself. As for the tako poke, i asked the dressing to be on the side and my friend have it the dressing with the tako. She compliant the tako become really heavy after couple bites. So, i would suggest you to put the dressing on the side. As for ocean salad, it’s just a regular seaweed salad you can find at any Japanese Restaurant and the crab salad is the same as well. Overall, the food it’s good, but i feel the sauce they used for the rice it’s a bit too sweet for me and it kind of overpowered the nature flavor from the ingredient by itself. My friend ordered salmon, but by looking at the color and tasting their salmon. I wouldn’t really recommend the salmon at all. But that just personal opinion. Please try it out if you love salmon. I just feel ahi is prepared a bit better with better dressing. Overall I do have good experience at this place and I would recommend it to try it out.

I’m loving this new trend of poke places popping up in the city — can’t wait to try them all! That being said, I visited Aloha Fresh today after weeks of wanting to try it and I was very happy with my experience. Since it was my first time there, the nice lady explained what each type of poke would taste like and even let me try a sample of each(that’s like 12 free pieces of poke!). You can get a poke bowl — pick a rice(white, black — $ 1 extra, or salad, or a mix of any of them), pick 2 poke and pick 2 sides for $ 13. There are also a few preset bowls that you can choose from that are also $ 13. There’s also a special right now which is «Surf and Turf»(kalua pork + 1 poke and 2 sides) for $ 14. You can also get poke by the pound, or half-pound(or platters for catering needs), which are sold according to market price. The wasabi ahi poke was my favorite — very flavorful with the slight kick from the wasabi flavor and it comes with tobiko, but if you want a milder flavor, I would recommend the shoyu ahi or the original Hawaiian ahi poke(no sauce). The kukui nut ahi was good, but I wasn’t quite sure how it differed from the original and I’m not a big fan of nuts. There is also the Chinese black bean ahi(which, as the lady described, did not have as heavy of a flavor as you would normally expect from Chinese dishes), which was surprisingly good. They also have the wasabi flavor and kukui nut ones for salmon as well. The Korean kimchee ahi was good, not too spicy, but had the slight kick from sriracha, and I would be down to order that on another visit. They also have 3 tako(octopus) pokes — ponzu, jalapeño and miso. These were all good, but the tako pieces were a bit on the chewier side, so I would still recommend the ahi, hands down. For a better description of each of these poke, they have the sauce/ingredients listed for most of these on their websites. Also, for the sides, there are 6 choices: lomi lomi salmon(which tasted like a salmon version of salsa — hella good!), crab salad, kimchee, ocean salad(which is seaweed), macaroni salad, and namasu(looked like just cucumbers). Overall, it was a great first experience having poke here in Cupertino and the portion ended being a lot bigger than I anticipated(even though it doesn’t look it). Staff was super friendly and called out«Aloha» anytime someone walked in. There aren’t too many seats inside(there is one or two tables outside, but they aren’t designated for Aloha Fresh), so this is best as a to-go place. Also, these poke bowls are a bit on the pricier end for what I would normally pay for a meal, but they easily break even with a sushi roll that doesn’t even have as much raw fish on it. I definitely recommend it if you’re a raw fish person! :)

Aloha Fresh… what is there to say. You have Poke’d a special place in my heart! Your fish, amazingly fresh. Your Black rice, which I will say is my new favorite, so flavorful and savory. The Lomi-Lomi is awesome and perfectly flavored. The greens for the salad are crisp and fresh! I finished my bowl about 5 mins after I left your doors, with a smile on my face and a memory of the islands floating through my head. Thank you for bringing such a fresh and«perfectly Hawaiian» treat to the Bay Area! My wife approves so we are good on that end, and by the line that flowed in after us… so does everyone else!

Oh yes I am a big big fan of this place! These days, poke is all about that make-it-your-own Chipotle style where the sauce is mixed with the fish on the spot. That seems like a good thing at first but really the marinating is taking a big hit so the flavor is never satisfying. This place keeps their fish marinated in the sauce and the quality of the fish is SOSOGOOD. I highly recommend the Korean kimchi flavor and the salmon poke. They usually add ponzu to the rice but I love the Korean sauce so much, I request them to add that sauce to my rice. GENIUS(oops I’m so humble). The point is, whatever sauce you dig, ask them to add to the rice and enhance the flavor even more. For the sides, I chose the seaweed salad(always choose the seaweed salad because it’s a classic move!) and the imitation crab salad! 10⁄10 for the crab! It tastes like it was made in store, fresh and savory and the right kind of creamy! One less start than perfect because they do not give out water here(not even tap water… say what) and we were not about to spend extra on the drinks when we can go get boba nearby(which we did). The bathroom is also very… gnarly. There’s no mirror which to a girl is like… breaking a law. Don’t you know half of the trip to the bathroom is for me to check up on my face?! Lmao ok done. Aside from that, this place is pretty great. I WILLBEBACK, eat until I’m bursting at the seams and then go to Daiso nearby and be like a fat kid in a candy’s store.

Let’s give a warm aloha to all the poki places blooming around the Bay Area :)! Love: + Lots of poke options(traditional ahi, shoyu, black bean, wasabi, etc) + Awesome add-ons from lomi lomi salmon to seaweed salad + Very warm and personable employees + Extremely clean space + Loads of parking(but this Asian plaza can get crowded) Not so love: — Pricier than other poki places(the quality of ingredients is better here, but something to consider) — Limited seating inside I’m a big fan of Aloha Fresh for having truly fresh and high quality ingredients. Even though the place is still very new, I have high hopes that they’ll be huge hit in Cupertino!

Another poke place that opened up in Cupertino! However, Aloha Fresh is NOT like all the other poke places that have been popping up. This poke place is more similar to the kind of poke that you would get in Hawaii. Other poke places are more like«build your own bowl/salad with a million toppings» kind of place. At Aloha Fresh, it’s easy and simple. You just pick your kind of poke and 2 sides. The owner is also extremely nice and lets you sample the poke so you can choose which one you really like :) He also said that they fly in their poke from Honolulu 3 times a week! Wow, that’s pretty cool. Besides getting a poke bowl, you can also buy poke by the pound. My favorite so far would be the kukui nut poke. I’ve also tried the miso tako. I really like the miso dressing for the tako, but some of the tako pieces were really hard, making it hard to chew and eat. Probably won’t be ordering the tako again haha. But all the pokes were really fresh so I will definitely come back for more poke. :)

I actually like this spot more than the other poke places popping up all over, here are a few reasons why: Fish actually tastes like it has flavor in it, not just sauce poured on it. Flavors are really thought out. A lot of the other places tastes like taking a rainbow roll or california roll and mashing it up and slather sauce on it and throwing it in a bowl. Which is not bad at all but I want hawaiian poke not a decontructed sushi roll. You feel like youre in a hawaiian poke place, not a salad bar. I like letting the chef do his job creating the food. Service had the hawaiian feel too. Only con is this place is a lil pricier than the others.

Super delicious and reasonably priced! I’m a huge fan of sushi, sashimi, poke, etc, and saw the«opening soon» sign up for this place months ago as I was doing a boba run at Super Cue. They’ve now been open for a few weeks, and it’s definitely been worth the wait. For less than $ 10, you can get a generously sized poke bowl with rice(white or black) and vegetables(marinated cucumber, and your choice of seaweed salad or kimchi). It also comes with your choice of beverage: Izze sodas or San Pellegrino sodas(no cheap soda fountain stuff here!). You can also buy poke by the half or full pound, and they also have sashimi bowls and ahi tuna steaks. I tried: Shoyu poke: juicy and not too salty, and apparently one of their most popular sellers. Wasabi: their house special, creamy with just a bit of kick. Kukui nut: flavorful with a great sesame/nutty flavor. They also have Chinese black bean, Hawaiian(without sauce), and kimchi flavors which I didn’t get a chance to try. Wound up going with a poke bowel of half shoyu/half kukui and black rice. Super happy to have a great poke place here in the Bay Area!

Grand Opening Date: Saturday, November 21, 2015. If you’re craving poke in Cupertino… we have options now! Came here on a whim on Thanksgiving Day and they were having a deal for poke by-the-pound #score They currently have 5 types of poke: (1) Hawaiian Poke(original) (2) Shoyu Poke(basically Hawaiian poke plus shoyu) (3) Wasabi & Tobiko Poke (4) Chinese Black Bean Poke (5) Korean Kim Chee Poke (6) Salmon Poke PROs: + friendly staff & free samples + new experimental flavors that they’re testing out, like Miso Poke and Crab Salad + best flavors: Chinese Black Bean Poke, Salmon Poke, and Crab Salad The main con is that it can get get pricey. The by-the-pound prices is based on «market rates» but it can go up to $ 20ish/lb. The Hawaiian Poke(the original flavor) is a lil plain IMO too. The Shoyu version is better, but it’s not distinctly special. With all of the poke spots popping up in the South Bay, this place is definitely a nice contender of getting your poke. We’ll be repeat customers for sure!
