Ill start by saying that the food isnt that bad. Other then that, this place is a joke. First off, my fiancé and I had a groupon she bought that allowed for $ 40 worth of food for $ 20. As soon as we got there, we let the owner(Or at least I assume she was the owner) know that we had the Groupon. She proceeded to tell us that it only applied to certain items on the menu when that was not outlined on the groupon. I ordered the filet mignon and shrimp with fried rice and my fiancé had the scallops and filet mignon with fried rice. I have water to drink and she had tea. We did order a sushi roll that was on «special». The service from the Hibachi chef was great. Fast forward to the bill. After we ate, we got the bill. Keep in mind, I was questioning the whole time why we where the only people here at 7pm on a week night. Granted its not the busiest time, every other resturant in town has at least a few people dinning there. This place had none, except for us. Anyways, we got the bill. The total BEFORE the groupon came out to $ 110! After groupon it was $ 70. I reviewed the bill and they took it upon themselves to add a $ 20 tip before we got the bill. The pricing for the food magically went up to make up for the groupon. The«special» sushi roll came out to cost twice that of any other roll on the menu. My fiancé and I where in a hurry to get to a movie so we paid and it wasnt until after we left that I noticed the pricing had been much higher then before. I noticed the tip so I didnt bother leaving one, but I find it rude that a resturant owner thinks they can just decide how good their service was tip wise. I know realize why no one was here and after reading some other reviews similar to mine, I will not be eating here ever again. Corpus Christi is too small to operate a resturant like this.

We ordered over $ 90 worth of food and we were denyed use of our $ 40 for $ 80 worth of food groupon because we did not order 4 hibachi grill entrees. Only 3 tables there on a Saturday night should have been our first clue this was a bad experience. The grill was still dirty from the previous guests, two tables next to use were dirty the entire time we ate. Food was ok. Very slow service. Only one chef. Plug in fans going. Plates and bowls chipped. Beware this groupon is only to get you in and trick you so that you cannot use it. I will be contacting groupon about this shady experience.

Been here for an hour and have yet to even see a server, our salad showed up 39 minutes later. Was told it would be now wait to be seated and hen 30 to be served but it took 15 minutes to be seated and then another hour and a half to freaking eat! They only have 2 cooks but 8 tables therefore they have no where near the necessary service for a restaurant this size! Worse hibachi experience I have ever had!!!

Awesome hibachi. We tried to go to a different hibachi near by and were told it would be an hour wit so we thought we’d try this one. Glad we did. Prefer the steak and chicken at this hibachi. Friendly, clean, no wait, great tasting, nice ambiance in hibachi room. Will definitely be back! And would highly recommend. Would give 5 stars after they have there liquor license. But the nice lady offered if we wanted to bring in our own beer or wine that would be fine.

We will never be going back to Shogun, and not because the food is bad, it’s because the owner runs a very shady business with unethical business practices. Beware when using a Groupon! The owner made us order from the side of the menu where the cheapest entrée is $ 21.95, plus an addl $ 2.50 for fried rice instead of steamed. On top of her making us order from the more expensive entrees she then added a tip for herself into our total! I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing the groupon. She is a crook! We will NEVER go back to this establishment.

DONTEATHERE. This lady is a crook. She has a groupon that taunts it’s for $ 40 worth of food. It says it’s for tempenyki or sushi. She won’t let you order sushi or anything besides a combination plate. You have 6 choices of entrees. Even though the groupon clearly states you can order $ 40 of food. Buyer beware

The world’s worst dining experience, outlined in 15 short bullet points. To preface this review: This restaurant was advertising on Groupon for«$ 40 Worth of Japanese Cuisine.» 1. We walked in, sat down, and asked for a wine menu. The server, Garrett, apologized and informed us that their alcohol license hadn’t yet been approved.(Ugh, LAME, Shogun, but it’s alright — we’ll stick it out with you guys. Garrett seems nice.) 2. It was freezing. Even I had goosebumps, and I’m always hot. We(and two other tables) asked if anything could be done, or if the fans could be turned off. The server, Garrett, again apologized and said that the ventilation isn’t good enough in the building, and that if they turn off the fans, the smoke alarms might go off.(Um, wut? You’re a hibachi grill. If your ventilation is still in question, why are you open to the public?) 3. The TVs were blaring. At this point, we wondered if we should stay, but hey — we had a Groupon. So we stayed. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come turn down the TV. 4. We ordered waters and appetizers, one of which was a seaweed salad. Pretty common Japanese fare, right? 5. Wrong. The server, AGAIN, had to return to our table and apologize and let us know they were out of seaweed salad. SEAWEEDSALAD. At a Japanese restaurant. SMH. I wanted to leave, but we’d already formed an emotional bond with the server, Garrett.(It was mostly pity. We just couldn’t abandon him there.) 6. Our sashimi appetizer arrived at our table, and it looked REALLY good. We were so excited to take that first bite of – 7. Oh. It’s frozen. Our $ 15 sashimi appetizer was frozen. I repeat: THEFISHWASFROZEN.(Tha fuq?) 8. We were willing to even let THAT one go, but then our darling Garrett brought us our Dynamite Roll. We were appalled at what he placed in front of us on the table. It looked like a big, green, squishy turd.(I cannot emphasize this enough: I have eaten sushi rolls at H-E-B that were tastier and prettier than this one.) 9. At this point, we’d had it. It had been about an hour and fifteen minutes, and we still hadn’t seen that second sushi roll. We were finally ready to peace out.(Sorry, Garrett, you have to be a man now, and fend for yourself.) 10. We asked for the check. He brought us the check. The second, undelivered roll was still on it, and we had been overcharged for the wrong sashimi appetizer.(Practice your breathing exercises, Sarah.) 11. I handed Garrett the Groupon. He took it back to his manager, and she said we couldn’t use it, as we hadn’t ordered«entrees.» She made him come back and tell us this news.(Nowhere in the Groupon did it say the word ‘entrée.’ The stipulation is that each diner must order a meal. We each ordered sushi rolls and an appetizer for ourselves. Seems like a meal to me. Although, we never got that second sushi roll, so whatever.) 12. I gave sweet Garrett my Visa and asked him to take off the roll that we never received, and fix the price discrepancy of the sushi appetizer. I also asked him to bring out his manager so we could ask her why the F*CK she’d opened her doors to the public(and not only that, but ran a fraudulent promotion to bring more people in), when they CLEARLY were not ready to be open for business. 13. Garrett took my card and the check to have his manager fix it. He was gone for about 20 more minutes. Upon his arrival, he informed us that a refund for the overcharged appetizer could not be issued. 14. And at this point, I lost my sh*t. I refused to pay, and left Garrett with a $ 60 tip and asked him to walk out of the restaurant, to which he replied: «But I need the job,» to which I replied: «At this rate, you won’t have one in, oh, I give it a week.» 15. I checked my bank statement this morning to find that my card had mysteriously been swiped. Which means either Garrett or the manager swiped my card without correcting the check. My bank is handling the claim and will dispute the charge, but guys, please, do not go to this restaurant. Save yourselves.
