I’m in Corpus for business and staying at the Embassy Suites. This place was walking distance and had good reviews so I gave it a try. Great choice! Erik and Frank are the sushi bar team and do an amazing job. Of all the sushi I’ve had, this was the best. I did the Weston and Yum Yum rolls. Just do it, it feels so good to say Yes…

The sushi was very good. They even have a roll that is made with no rice that was very good. The chicken and beef dishes we had was excellent as well. I could not tell you the names but the chicken had noodles and fried garlic with carrots and bean sprouts. Yum!

I have come here a few times and have only ever ordered sushi and it has always been good. I LOVE their wakame salad but wish it had more seaweed in it. I feel like it’s more cucumber and carrot shavings than seaweed and that makes me sad. The service has always been great and the ambiance is very nice and relaxing.

Visiting Corpus Christi, TX I was encouraged to try Sangs Imperial Café to satisfy a craving for miso soup and Sushi. Upon entering the large restaurant we were seated immediately at a cozy table. The waiter and busboy were very attentive during our entire meal. We started off with miso soup without tofu which was absolutely delicious and satisfying. We also ordered their egg rolls which were surprisingly skinny but tasty. I wasn’t a fan of the sweet and sour as it was more of a sweet and spicy. We then ordered the yum yum roll, the dragon roll and the Christmas roll. 2 of the rolls are fried which was unusual to try but being in Texas I understand catering to a fried food loving culture. The rolls I believe are fried in a light tempura and tasted really good. The roll which was not fried did not particularly stand out for me. All in all I really enjoyed this place and will be back to try a different roll on their extensive menu.

I checked online and they had this wonderful deal. ½ priced sushi Monday to Thursday. I showed up. Knew what I wanted. And, just to double check. Asked if they still did hat. Because I hate surprises at the end of my meal. They don’t. No longer half off sushi. So I left. 2 stars because they advertise ½ price but don’t honor it. Not returning unless that start that back or lower their crazy prices.

It’s one of your favorite places. The mood is good and the service is usually good too. Half price sushi is great. I also recommend the curry. I usually split it with my husband and then we get two specialty rolls. Always delicious. Great place for lunch or dinner.

It’s been a while and we’ve been here more than a few times so I should do an update. Sang’s has proven again and again, they are consistently good with sushi. We haven’t had too much of anything else on their menu — I’m just having fun trying all the different kinds of sushi they make. This time we had the Mustache Roll and the Sakura(riceless) roll. The Mustache Roll is now on my Top 3 list of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Blackened tuna, crab, avocado… what’s not to love? But, they roll the outside in a combination of panko and sesame seeds and flash fry it. Top it with spicy mayo and eel sauce… DELICIOUS! I didn’t try the Sakura roll, but my wife said it’s one of her favorites(she’s doing the low-carb thing). Service, this time, was pretty good. Tea refills, low-to-moderate wait time, and friendliness added good points to the overall experience. It was a pretty busy place for a Saturday lunch and that didn’t detract from the service. Between Sang’s and their chief competitor across the street(also one of our favorites), we’ll be happy in sushi for quite some time.

Garlic edamame is the best I’ve tried. Cooked entrees are amazing, like the teriyaki beef and chicken. Service is always good. Now the main reason I came was for the sushi, which was horrible. Almost every roll is fried and hardly any just sushi on the menu. The sushi here seems very amercanized and not the real deal. The biggest complaint I have is that they drowned the rolls in eel sauce and spicy mayo. Gross! Another thing, as soon as the waitress set our rolls down we were over powered by a strong fishy smell. That actually made me very weary to eat them, as that could mean the fish wasn’t fresh. I enjoyed everything else and will be back for some beef teriyaki, but for sushi I’ll stick with AKA or Takeniwa.

My colleague and I were in town for work and figured we’d fill our Monday afternoon with sushi considering it was being expensed. Unilocal brought us here. If you’d rather not read further, consider the line spoken after the meal, «I don’t know if I want to trust Unilocal anymore.» We stood in the doorway for a good 10 minutes. We would’ve sat ourselves but that pesky ‘wait to be seated’ sign blocked our path. The gentleman at the table next to us was piercing his role with a fork(barbaric!) and the sushi chef resembled a Hispanic Mr. Miyagi. The order taking process took another 15 minutes. We were in no rush but I’d Ike to note that the servers here really do employ a «we’re not working but we’ll sit around and do nothing while you wither away» mentality. We ordered the phở and three rolls(rainbow, some roll described as having pieces of the bacon of the sea except it doesn’t taste like bacon and dragon) and hunkered down for the winter(because unbeknownst to us that’s how long it was going to take to whip up the food). After a 45 minute or so wait the soup came. Now the taste of this soup is the reason I give 2 stars. I’ve had phở in many different establishments and this broth was tops. The chopsticks were made for the hands of a 3 year old though so it made the experience difficult. I could’ve opted for a fork but I’d prefer the self hating phở eating experience, baby chopsticks be damned! Another 10 minutes passed until we were met with the rolls. Kroger sushi I swear. This stuff tasted absolutely awful. The rice was mush, the fish tasted old and even the smell was unappealing. Now, I’m no sushi connoisseur by any means — I’m 28 and have been to probably 100 different sushi restaurants in my life. This place is definitely dredging the bottom. Another 20 minutes until we received our check. There must’ve been 15 people or so in here so these waits were unnecessary. The waitstaff(teenagers, young adults) were goofing off around the front and in the back(you could see them through the kitchen doors). Anywho, that’s it. Won’t be coming back. Step it up, Corpus!

This is the one sushi place I miss after I moved. Jean Marie Firecracker roll is my favorite. Everytime I took it to go from the bar in the back, I received courteous and friendly service. They have good deals Monday and Thursday on sushi

Had lunch here. Sushi here is pretty good, especially the Rockport and Dragon rolls! The waiters and waitresses are pretty nice with attaining to your needs. The bubble tea tastes a bit weird yogurt was added in mine???) Be warned that the Thai foods/specials come in very large portions, so share with others to care! I believe they do discounts on certain rolls with a Student/College ID on Thursday nights, so check that out! Great place to stop by if you’re on this side of town for sushi.

Delicious Garlic Edamame, and can’t go wrong with a Yum Yum Roll! The sushi is good here, half of the rolls are fried due to it being Corpus Christi. Customer’s favorite rolls, house rolls. I had the Cindy roll and it was avocado, chicken, and cream cheese. Was very tasty and had a great after taste flavor with avocado. I also tried the Phở which I was scared to try at this place knowing my favorite Phở spot is around the corner. The Phở looked good, smelt okay, was served properly with sides of sprouts, lemon, and cilantro. It was more of a watery taste than actual herb infused Phở which I’m use to; none the less was decent Phở. It’s not my favorite, but not the worst I’ve had. The beef flank inside was cooked perfect, tasted seasoned and properly cooked. I would not order it again, however I do love the Sushi here and the edamame. The Japanese salad for appetizer is also one of my favorites with the ginger dressing. I love the interior, very World Market bought style of Indian/Japanese style which I love. Great lighting, and the service here was excellent. Our waitress was beyond awesome and took care of us and never left our water/tea unfilled. I would come back alone on the great service, great sushi, and great appetizers. Decently priced, cool interior, great service, great sushi, and easy to get in and out of.

Ugh. maybe this place isn’t known for their beef phở and«only» for their extensive sushi roll list. but still, at least make the beef phở semi-edible! Here’s the scoop. So, I actually ordered their beef phở once before. and LOVED it! I even ordered beef phở from a different place and felt it wasn’t as good as Sang’s Imperial Café. well, fast forward to tonight’s take-out plan at Sang’s Imperial Café, and the beef phở was pretty freakin horrible. First of all, the hoisin sauce was SOWATERY! I have never in my life seen HOISINSAUCEWATERY. I can assure you, 100% THEYPUTWATERINIT so that they could have more. How do I know this? I have been to MANY different phở places and KNOW the CONSISTENCY of the sauce. I have never in my life SEEN it so watery OR TASTE-wise have it be SO watery(probably cause it had water in it, DUR!). Also, their meatballs that came in the phở tasted like it was manufactored in a lab. I know meatballs are fake, but this one was funky as hell and I can’t believe I ate a couple of them(probably cause I was hungry and desperate LOL but then, I also spit some out too). Also, I have to mention that when I picked up my take-out order tonight, they weren’t too busy, but the staff seemed flustered for some reason. maybe cause they had the live music going on tonight and maybe they were mesmerized or were distracted., I don’t know?(I’m trying to rationalize for them). The asian bartender dude behind the bar didn’t ask if I needed help but the blonde manager(I think?) seemed kinda helpful, though she seemed overwhelmed by the different checks with cash in them that she had. I wanted to help her to let her know what I ordered but she looked like she was concentrating .hard. so I waited like 10 mins for something that was supposed to take. oh, I don’t know, less than 2. So anywho goin back to the food. I never again want to order their beef phở. That watery-nature lol of their hoisin sauce was SO freaking strange and nasty, I may have to check all hoisin sauces now. THEIRSOUP, which, the last time I ordered I felt was the best phở broth I had in a while actually tasted VERYMSG’ish. so gross. I ended up throwing more than half away, that’s how bad it was. Also, their beef brisket was pretty disappointing as well. I mean, does it hurt to trim some of the fat off? I think if that was done, there wouldn’t be any meat on there, thus, my earlier note about how I was left with my lab-manufactered meatballs(yay! see why I was so desperate but then ended up spitting them out?). Lol yea so I’ll prob get a SUSHI roll from them seeing they have a crap-load but never again will I get the phở. I will give their sushi rolls a chance but if they are not consistent as they were with my phở, I’m going to need to axe them and won’t ever be back.

This is our favorite place to get sushi in Corpus. We like to get the Cara, the Katie(make sure you point them out on the menu or spell it out or something, there is also a Karen and other sushi rolls named after girls and it gets confusing) and the YUMYUM roll! When you live in Texas you gotta fry up your sushi rolls like everything else! Monday through Wednesday are good nights to go because a lot of the sushi is half off. Wish they were open on Sundays… I can’t tell you how many times we want to go get sushi and then remember they are closed cuz its Sunday. :( Ask for Kathy or Larry — they are cool. Oh, and my boyfriend says they have especially good Dr. Pepper. No joke.

Vegetarian Friendly! This place has great ambiance. The lighting was romantically dim, and the music was a pleasant volume with modern tunes. The seating was comfortable and the décor was nicely done. Painting out the drop ceiling in black was a great design choice as it makes the space more intimate and sexy rather than cheap fast food style with abrasive lighting. Perfect for a date or gathering with friends. The service was friendly and humorous. There are 2 dining rooms with plenty of tables and about 6 bar stools right at the sushi bar. They are vegetarian version which wins over my heart right away. I did attempt to modify the Drunk Noodles by asking for a vegetarian version with tofu and a lot of vegetables. This caused some confusion as what I ended up tasted an looked a lot more like Pad See Ew. The tofu was abundant, but the veggies not so much. I did appreciate the willingness to adjust any of the Thai dishes to a vegetarian version. It looks like a patio area in front may be in the works. I think this would add to the overall appeal of this place to have al fresco dining. All in all this is a great Thai place in CC.
