This place has a great reputation, just don’t go when they have a restaurant celebration like their 20th Anniversary with 20% off. The hostess was so busy taking photos with the owners that we like to never got served, even had to ask for water a second time. My husband’s mixed drink didn’t show up til halfway through the meal, even though my wine showed up immediately and we had asked 3 times for his drink. My vegetable lo mien was decent but nothing special and would maybe give it 3 stars. They provided tiny slices of free cake, a nice touch. I ordered a take home meal for my 92 year old mom and asked if I could have a piece of cake for her — requested that they charge me for it. You guessed it. Got home, no cake. My husband’s meal was, like mine, decent but nothing special. Maybe we hit them on an off day but honestly, I’m not interested in giving them a second chance.

We have been going to Silver Pond more than 5 times, maybe about once a month. It’s generally empty for a restaurant that size with a prime location. I definitely agree with the smaller portion size, but I have been overlooking it, because of the tastiness and prime location. The lunch menu is definitely not a bad deal, because it comes with rice, egg roll, and soup. Today, I went there for lunch hoping to re-order their lunch special sweet and sour fish, which I recall was really good. That was my first experience ordering sweet and sour fish here and it was soggy, so this time I asked to have the waiter to place the sauce on the side. My boyfriend placed the order before I arrived and was told by the waiter, who barely speak English, that it would not be possible to do sauce on the side under lunch special. He agreed under the presumption it would be bigger, enough to share for the 2 of us, and free soup. What we got was disappointingly the same size as the lunch portion. At the end, the bill arrived for $ 19.89, because the fish cost $ 14.95 + tax and soup $ 2.5+tax. I tried to talk it out to the lady, who I assumed is the owner, and she reluctantly agreed not to charge the soup. She mentioned, technically we would be subject to $ 2.95 charge for sharing a dinner entrée, which she waived, because we ordered soup. The final bill comes to 16.58 after tax and FYI, you could get a buffet for 2 with the same bill. If you are not a buffet person, I’d suggest going to a different Chinese restaurant in town and avoid Silver Pond. As they say, one bad experience ruins many great ones. We highly likely won’t ever come back and we know why many others won’t either.

Recommended by an apparent life long local friend we arrived to see a very empty place. Only two parties were their at our arrival. Menu lacked descriptions. The manager didn’t seem to have a clue about what the food consisted of when I asked some questions. Got appetizers crab Rangoon and chicken spring rolls. They came served with what I guess was a type of duck sauce skimpy amounts to boot. They were OK nothing amazing. My wife thought the spring rolls had cheese in it. I couldn’t taste it and she is with child which may have accounted for her taste. Main courses I ordered the mango chicken. Which I’ve never seen at a Chinese restaurant before. So I was intrigued. Since the menu lacked description I asked the manager what it consisted of. They neglected to mention the chicken wasn’t breaded. I expect breaded chicken with most all Chinese food. It should have been noted on the menu. When I received the mango chicken the mango was fresh and nice only to have several pieces of skin still attached. What a Lazy chef. Very disappointing. Like in other reviews I agree the portions are danty. Dollop of rice is about all you get. My fried rice was very disappointing also. My wife ordered the sesame chicken which was really quite good. The place got a bit busier. It was a hot day. They asked us for a refill on our water once after the check was on its way. There was only one server. The manager could of been from another planet. She called our daughter a boy who has never been mistaken as such. And at a table near us I heard her call their son a girl.

The food was wonderful. However the portions were fairly small for the price. I felt terrible as the table next to us was there 45 minutes+ before we were and they have just received their drinks when we had gotten our check. The staff kept saying it was because we had a party of two and they had a party of 6 but still almost an hour and a half and you are just bringing them their drinks, little ridiculous! Word to the wise, don’t eat here if you have a party of more than 2 or 3 people. Unless you plan on staying all night long to eat.

They were very welcoming. We were there on their 20th Anniversary to take advantage of the 20% off special. Alcohol such as beer and wine were included, but the specialty drink I ordered was not, but server warned me ahead of time. My special drink did not come before the meal, in fact it arrived halfway through my meal. I did not deduct a star for this because the lunchtime owner/hostess/bartender was overwhelmed by seating people and posing for photographs with the celebratory cakes for her regular customers. So I cut her a little slack here. The Hot and Sour soup I had was the best I have ever had. Wife-unit had Egg Drop soup and she really liked hers. I had a beef dish that was merely okay. It was not as flavorful as Schezuan Beef I have had elsewhere. Wife-unit was not impressed with hers, either. We opted for brown rice, somehow it was very dry. Portions were much smaller than typical for Chinese lunch plates. The spring rolls were very good, not oily or greasy in the least. I did have to ask for mustard, it was different than typical by being quite a bit thinner, but I liked it. I will go back and give them a second chance on a non-20th anniversary day although I do not normally visit three star places other than fast food.

Ordered food. 2 hours later it shows up. Forgot half of it. Then when we called they said we will check the ticket and call u back. Still waiting on that phone call. Not to mention it is extremely over priced! 30 mins later they called and the lady argued and said we had everything. We don’t. We asked her to just please refund us for the missing lo mein and she said no. Then when my husband told her we would be leaving a negative review she said we need to be nice. Needless to say. we will never return here!!!

This is my second time here in Colorado Springs and I come here all the time, the food here is delicious and the prices here are very reasonable. The service here is wonderful and the food comes out very quickly. The egg drop soup here is very delicious and we get it every time we come here. There is a lot of room in the back and you can hold parties in the back. I highly recommend this place and their service, 5⁄5 stars.

The food was a 3 — but the prices are way too high for what you get and the menu is downright confusing. The table next to ours tried to have someone explain it for over 5 minutes and it still wasn’t clear how their combination works. The Mongolian beef was thin, bland and drowning in what appeared to be mostly soy sauce. Crab Rangoon’s were good. Chicken eggrolls were also bland.

Very mediocre Chinese food. It didn’t leave a good taste in our mouths like the food at the Shangrila does each time we go there. After being seated by the hostess, without being given menus, we finally had to ask for one. I happened to be seated facing the hostess stand. All the while we were eating our meal the hostess was picking food out of her teeth with her fingers. Very unappetizing. Ambience also a disappointment. We won’t return.

THE best Chinese food I’ve had In this town. Silver Pond. If the bathroom is clean usually the kitchen is too? U can tell that the cook has his heart his food by presitation and the taste.

I was looking them up to order, and saw their surprisingly low rating on here and had to chime in. That’s how much I like this place! Easily — EASILY — the best Chinese place in town for vegetarians and vegans. Their variety is excellent, and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. The prices are fair, and the service(as well as delivery) are good. The only thing I’d like is to see some more descriptions on their menu, since some of their items are not self-explanatory. Overall, I highly recommend!

The food was good but for the portions you received it is greatly over priced! Customer service is in need of an overhaul. While the servers are nice they are young, act shy and inexperienced. We order waters and ‘tea’ for the table and received iced teas. We have never had to specify that we want hot tea in a Chinese restaurant before. It was very disappointing. The ambiance is lovely however. We will not be coming back and we have other favorites that we get greater portions for less money.

Wow just wow the worst customer service in the entire world. My bestfriend that is a girl just tried to order food delievery. They their English was so bad she couldn’t understand her she asked questions about the food but they put her on hold then laughed in the background calling her an American idiot and when she tried to change her order they told her«I am done with this guy» and hung up on her. When she called back and asked for the manager, well I’m sure you can guess. yes the same kind of horrible service was given. I personally have eaten there in the past the food was ok but gave me diarrhea. If you care about the average American person and their right to stand and speak up DONOTEATHERE!

We went here for the first time on Friday night and really enjoyed it. Our server Marcus was great– attentive, friendly and very knowledgable(and able to answer all my questions about the menu items since they weren’t described on the menu). We got the chicken egg rolls and thought they were unique and really tasty. We’ll definitely order them again. We also got some pork dumplings and thought they were pretty good but not quite what we were hoping(we were trying to find something like we used to get at our favorite restaurant in Illinois and that just probably isn’t possible!) I ordered the Hawaiian Chicken and really liked it. I appreciated that it came surrounded in steamed broccoli(so often there are no veggies with what I tend to order at Chinese restaurants). It was a little spicy(perfect for me) with breaded chicken, pineapple and carrots in a sweet sauce, with the broccoli. It was served with a small scoop of rice(I’d usually eat a lot more rice than that). I will definitely get the Hawaiian Chicken again! My husband ordered the strawberry chicken which was really intriguing to us and it was really good– it’s sliced unbreaded chicken with strawberries and veggies in a sweet tangy sauce. We both liked it. We also ordered chicken fried rice to go so we could have it for leftovers– it was very good. The restaurant was comfortable and seemed popular and friendly. The booth where I sat had a very torn seat and the fabric table cloths were very stained. The prices seemed a little higher than we were expecting for an average amount of food(my husband finished his whole dish, even with the appetizers, and I took half of mine home). The food was great, service great and it’s a great location. We’ll be back.

Food was so so. I had sweet and sour pork, the woman had some kind of noodle stuff. Weird taste to both sauces. Service was good, bathrooms clean, nice place other than the food, which is why we came…

Had the chicken in garlic sauce. Fantastic. The place is reasonably clean and the décor is typical Chinese restaurant. The muzak was a little over powering.

Good food and service but not outstanding. Servings on the small side compared to my favorite place. Not overly generous with rice, charge extra for brown rice.

Gourmet!!! Got the ginger calamari and it melted in my mouth. Great atmosphere too. The owner came out and asked how everything was. I didn’t try one but the menu also boasted a good selection of tiki style drinks from the bar. Looking forward to going back and ordering one(or two) withy meal!
