Lots of rotten produce and a very unwelcoming atmosphere, never again. Outside you can buy grilled meat, we bought a chicken and a bottle of coke, then when we asked for paper cups the woman said we’d have to pay 25 cents for each cup… honestly not worth going on about this mini-market.

Great tacos! If your looking for authentic tacos this is the place to be. It’s a small market with a taco shop inside and outside. If you need spices to make a Mexican a dish you can find them here too. Great customer service and reasonable pricing! Love this place will come and I highly recommend it !

Dios mío! I have found a piece of Mexico in the Luna Market. Such an amazing find of great Mexican flavored and culture. I will return most dedicated and try el pollo guisado that you can buy whole with rice and beans. It looks and smells divine! If you haven’t tried, be sure you do!

We have a gauntlet thrown down in the Tamales and homes style Latin market folks. Luna is the best, yes I’ve been to all the players, Latin market in the Pikes Peak Region. The Pollo tacos were so authentic and subtle flavorful I instantly thought back to travels in Mexico. The star of my trip is the Pork Tamales. I have to say they go head to head and then some from El Taco Rey. The tomatillo sauce took both the tacos and the tamales to another depth all together. The staff was on point and aware the of their customers to the fact I didn’t need to request another plate for my sons share of the al la carts entrees. The market was outstandingly clean, well organized, and reasonably priced. I will certainly be back!

Never left unhappy. If you get there in time they have whole chickens on the grill that comes with jalapenos, beans, rice and tortillas. The corn in the cup is amazing. They have an awesome varity of food and desserts.

Loved this place until I looked at my grocery receipt and saw that I was charged an extra $ 7.99 for«candy and soda» after purchasing only produce, spices, and meat. I understand human error but do not understand why the staff wasn’t willing to refund the extra charge.

The best Mexican food in Colorado! And I’m a foodie. The ElPastor(pork and pineapple) was incredible. Smaller tacos but they are stuffed with meat and for only 1.65 per taco, nor bad! Nothing fancy. Not expensive. But down home Mexican, which is next to impossible to find in this town.

Ladies and gentlemen, today I have come across this gem called Luna Market. They have fresh produce and herbs, awesome chorizo, lots of Mexican fruits and treats and a big selection of chiles! They sell tamales and marinated carne asada meat and aguas frescas. Mmm. I’ve tried shopping at all the dinky Mexican grocery stores and carnicerias in the area that I could find, and honestly this store is by far the friendliest, cleanest and most convenient. I really feel I should mention that my white husband and I are so used to people looking at us like we’re complete outsiders when we walk into most Mexican grocery stores(I am Mexican) and we were actually pleasantly surprised going in here, It’s almost like I was back home visiting family. The gentleman working the carne section is such a sweetheart. I must say that the only thing that left me unimpressed were the strawberries and cream. I kid you not, the«cream» tastes like the sour cream + powdered sugar mix I make to smooth over my homemade key lime pies… But other than that, this market is my new go-to for my Mexican grocery shopping list.

In the past I have loved Luna Market, today they fell extremely short of the mark, so short that I doubt I will ever go back. The experience started out with them serving customers that came in after us first. Two in our group had ordered corn on the cob, the girl made it in a cup, when we told her we had asked for it on the cob she refused to give us what we asked for. Then they ran out of chicken for our entrees, and finally we ordered a fruit cup. The papaya was rancid and when we asked for something different we were refused again. It took an extremely long time to be served, we had to get to go boxes because the service was so slow. Throughout the entire experience the girl behind the counter was rude. We spent two hundred dollars there today and I would much rather take my money somewhere else that will appreciate my business and understands what customer service is.

This is still one of my favorite Mexican places to come and eat. Luna market is great at anytime of the day, maybe that’s the Mexican in me being bias. I came in today with the wife and fam and got myself a chimichanga. My wife got herself a steak torta, and my brothers each got them selfs a burrito each. My chimichanga was ok, it was not te greatest I have ever tasted.

When I need some espanol in my life, I goto Lunas Market and fill up on tacos and marzipan. I usually prefer the weekday because of my favorite mamacita in the back throwing down on the griddle. Taco’s, quesadillas, tamale’s… can’t get no better

Kinda dark, kinda cool! We showed up too late to get a whole chicken, but we got some tacos al pastor, carne asada tacos, a lengua taco, and ate them all in the parking lot! We also grabbed a ton of cool Mexican candy, cause I hadn’t seen any since we moved here from Texas. Can’t wait to go back to the market and browse more aisles! Need to compare meat prices, but they also had many combos like fajita or al pastor chicken and pork by the pound ready to grill!

From California, so I do been using Unilocal to help find things I need in Colorado Springs, must say the reviews are so wrong about this place… let me start off by saying the produce is DISGUSTING! Rotten chicharrones as well… I recommend you NEVER buy anything here! Very gross!

I’m from San Diego, and since I’ve gotten to the springs I haven’t found better, or more authentic Mexican food!

This is a very loud and thankful review for Luna Market, I have heard numerous times that there’s no decent Mexican places in The Springs, well if you don’t like Mexican markets where actual Hispanic folks get their food and has bomb good Taco’s, sells DVD’s out front then stop reading. Ok now that the Applebee’s crowd is gone, people listen up this place is so damn good I didn’t’ want to tell you all about it but, I know there’s more people out there that also have a boarding on weird obsession with taco’s so I had to tell y’all. There’s a dude out front cooking whole chickens from a massive grill that takes orders while he’s flipping marinated meat with hot poblano peppers, onions and jalapenos that’s so good you’ll want to beat the Colonel with a drum stick!(Just don’ though, we don’t need violence) The tacos are made to order and they have an ice cream, yogurt station and fruit station that is always stacked with fresh fruit on the hot days.

So I’m the type of person that buys Asian food at an Asian market, fish at a fish market, I get my meat from a butcher. With that said… Luna Market is where I go for Latin/Spanish based items. Chicharrones at the deli, two types to choose from. You can buy your cheeses either pre packaged or at the counter where it is cut by weight, I find that to be a better deal on Oaxacan and cotija, also fresher. They have nicely premarinated meats at the meat counter. A nice selection of local tortillas. Great fruit bar and lunch counter inside! Caldo de res is my go to soup, and it’s delicious. I have also been know to kill some tacos from there! Lastly, get the grilled chicken outside. If the smell doesn’t sell you, please… let me! Chicken is marinated in sazon(purely a guess) and other spices(you can also purchase raw and throw in the grill at home) Then dude stands outside and grills it in front of the market. You can get it normal or extra charred(I get a mix). Comes with beans, rice, grilled onions and jalapeños, and tortillas. My only issue is that Luna Market has shown me I really can eat an entire chicken alone…

My husband and I drove to Luna Market for one thing, the whole chicken! This guy is there 7 days a week outside of Luna Market with two huge grills with whole chicken on them until they are blackened and delicious. Might have to wait a bit since he is the only one working but it is so worth the wait. You can choose from either ¼, ½, or the whole chicken. With the chicken it also comes with rice, beans, grilled onions and peppers, salsa, and tortillas. Outside they only take cash and if you don’t have cash all you have to do is walk into the grocery store and let them know what you are buying, and bring the receipt out to the guy grilling. The chicken itself was very good. Definitely have to load it all up on a tortilla with all the fixings. Will come here again for the Horchata and the chicken!

I am so weak and couldn’t hold out so I picked up a whole chicken dinner. Maybe it’s not«as good as it gets» but it’s so, so close!!! I picked up a whole grilled chicken with all the fixin’s. Very, very delicious! Here’s what you get for $ 23.00: A whole chicken Eight small corn tortillas (Not quite) Quart of pinto’s Small take out box of rice Three small containers of sauce(2 red &1 green) A big pile of grilled onions Some grilled jalapeño’s(I did not partake due to the 10 year old) I tossed some green sauce, beans, chicken in a tortilla and it was wonderful. The chicken all by itself is very, very good. The rice is pretty mild tasting but good, almost buttery. This fed(no, STUFFED) my family of three(and my husband is NOT a small guy).. .. with left overs. This is some good stuff!!! Highly recommend. Muy bueno!

This is the only semi-decent mercados in the area and like Toucan Sam, I smelled the grilled meat on Academy and just followed my nose. I’m a super big fan of their carnicerias with the yummy sauteed steaks and pork that just beckons as you try to pass by and just mind your business… but I fail every time. I’m really only this market for the ice cream. They serve organic local ice cream and the portions are huge! Two scoops of creamy, crunchy mint chocolate chip is just what the doctor ordered every time I drop in and all for less than $ 2! Whoo! If you’re not a fan of the ice cream, they also offer fresh cut fruit and jicama. And if you’re in the mood for lunch, look just a little further at the lunch counter and the ample seating they offer.

I love mercados and carnicerias, so stopped by Luna to check out the chicken that I read about in a review elsewhere. Ordered a whole chicken, intending to have enough for lunch and dinner for the next few days(eat it, put it on salad, put it in eggs… not as boring as you think). Headed inside to find a small but well-organized, well let, ample selection of fresh produce in the middle and processed packaged food around the edges — standard mercado fare, nicely done. The fruit and veg selections are much more interesting than you find in standard grovery stores — fresher pineapples, perfectly ripe mangos and avocado, huge jicama, cactus leaves, etc. I didn’t buy other meat, but the meat case also appeared to be fresh and well stocked. Didn’t see any pescados. They also have a hot meal bar — burritos, etc. Went outside to pick up my chicken. The whole chicken is $ 18ish and includes a bunch of sides — rice, beans, tortillas, onions, peppers. I had extra beans(I don’t eat corn.) and didn’t know what to expect when I opened the styrofoam box back in my room… holy pollo! HUGE! That was one massive chicken — or a few extras contributed. The chicken was wonderfully roasted and spiced(Mex style), chopped expertly into pieces I haven’t seen before but really appreciated(e.g., breasts still in chunks but in manageable chunks), and adorned with delicious grilled onions and roasted jalapenos which were muy picante! Three kinds of salsa accompanied(verde, medio, CALIENTE) plus the pinto beans. This poultry surprise sent me into a primal carnivorous meat frenzy… had to stop myself from gorging on it. The photo shows the chicken AFTER I had chowed down a significant portion of it. Verdict: next time I’m in the Springs for an extended stay, I will start here and get another whole chicken to feed me for a few days. I would also check this out as a lunch option — the meal bar is inside. Now I need a nap…
