Met my friend here for lunch, because his parents have been raving about it. I loved it. A little pricey but thats ok. I’d rather support small/local business anyway. Everything was fresh and so tasty. The margarita was strong and the fajita tacos were delish. Going here again very soon. Check this place out.

First time here, it was recommended by a guy outside the Ritz? Good service, fresh wahoo tacos and a cold beer. Wife had a delicious burrito with pork green chile. We sat out on the patio on a Saturday, great afternoon lunch. Give it a try!

Best salsa in town. Zero questions asked. Their queso is fantastic and the service is spot on. The tacos are amazing as well. My favorite Mexican food in Colorado Springs without question.

Ah, man! I really wanted to like this place! I moved away from Colorado Springs and on my most recent visit back was brought here by a friend. It’s in the same buliding as the former Olive Branch restaurant which was trippy to me having not been there to see the transformation as it was happening. I liked the casual atmosphere upon walking in and the service was great. I just think that the menu is a bit confused. There’s Mexican food and then Mac N’ Cheese… huh? I now live in San Diego and I know that Colorado Springs is not the hot spot for Mexican food so I opted for the Mac. I ordered the regular mac and added bacon(because, duh) and my friend ordered the same. Hers came out really yummy looking but mine looked like an overly cheesed, globby mess. The cheese was not creamy, but rather took on a more rubbery consistency. It was fresh cheese, you could tell, but the problem was that the dishes were not consistent. While mine had so much cheese it made it hard to eat, my firend’s looked perfect. I must have been staring at her plate pretty frequently throughout the meal because at one point she asked me if I wanted to trade! HA! I didn’t end up trading her, I just put my dish aside and we paid the bill and left. Overall, it was a pretty underwhelming dining experience and Lucha probably won’t be one of the restaurants I go back to when I’m visiting the Springs again.

This has to be a front for something. .no way this place pays downtown real estate prices as a Mexican and/or any other legitimate restaurant. The food… the service and the clientele simply cannot support it! Wish I would have read the reviews on Unilocal prior to going… based on the consensus whoever owns this place must be focusing on something other than«the restaurant business«…

This place has become a usual stop for me and my family in the downtown area. First of all, this place is not tex-mex. It’s closest comparison is a blend of Colorado and more traditional Southwest Mexican. It isn’t what I’d call authentic but it certainly isn’t tex-mex. Second, Lucha’s best feature is the salsa selection. They’ve got a dozen or so and range from chunky Pico style to melt your face off spicy. They’re all worth trying– I recommend the, «Stop, Drop, and Roll,» and the, «Habenero Garlic.» Third, their food is good. Not great. But good. The classic tacos are a damn fine choice; they’re spicy, filling, and the perfect size. I also will often get the verde blue corn enchiladas which are great. Very filling, huge portions with rice and beans. This place is a great choice for Mexican-ish. One thing to note– their weekend brunch is damn good and probably the best thing going for them. The food is fantastic. Their breakfast burrito is a more traditional Mexican blend and is the best thing I’ve had there. Throw in bottomless mimosas and you’ve got me sold. HOWEVER– the service on Sundays is pretty awful. We had a completely incompetent host who was illprepared and didn’t even take our name at first approach. We had to actually do half his job for him. Not fun. The bar isn’t bad. The beer selection is chaotic and not well informed. I feel as though a good tap spread should have multiple kinds of beer ranging from light wheat to amber to hoppy and bitter. However, their draft beer selection could use some improvement. All in all, the place is one of the better Mexican joints in town. Definitely worth trying out.

This was an unremarkable bar that wasn’t very good at being a restaurant. I ate rather bland enchiladas. It had an average noise level. The wait person was very friendly, effective and very happy to talk about their beers.

First… this food is NOT TexMex! The green chili is very tasty, cross between Colorado and New Mexico style with good heat. Was a little soupy to my liking but to others I’m sure it’s perfect(i believe it needs to be thickened with some Wondra so the flavor isn’t ruined because it is delicious.) I got the blue corn cheese enchiladas with the green chili and two over med eggs on top. Delicious!!! Lauren was a kind, fantastic, very attentive waitress. I really enjoyed my lunch! Thank you so much! I definitely will be back!

I’ve been to Lucha Cantina a couple times now. I never order the same thing when I go to a restaurant however I ordered the tamales placas and a Red Dawn to drink both times for brunch. I thought they were much better the first time however it was still pretty good. I look forward to trying the dinner menu sometime!

Not a huge selection of «tex mex» food, I had the shrimp chimi, very greasy lettuce and spinach inside. They had a whole section of the menu for Mac and cheese which I thought was a little strange. But the margaritas were perfect

I took a large group to Lucha Cantina this weekend. Reviews were mixed. We had 2 long tables one table complained about a huge mix up on orders… some orders came out double and some came late and the reviews were mixed on the food. However, at my table everyone thought the food was great! One person at my table had to wait a long time for their food but Lucha Cantina did not charge her for her food. Also the drinks are expensive for the size. Beware of the Margaritas most are made with orange juice.

Hmmm… gotta do an update. I’m sitting here in Lucha right now — Waiting for service. Sigh. Waiting. While waiting I had a chance to look over the menu. What’s this? Rules of engagement for bottomless mimosas??? Never saw that before. Anyway, I know that they are trying to be clever with their 7 rules but it comes off as really obnoxious. Example: rule 4. drink ‘Em too quick & you are on a ten minute time-out. Too bad :(

I’ve been here several times now, for dinner, happy hour and brunch. Lucha Cantina doesn’t deserve two stars, but it doesn’t deserve three stars either(come on Unilocal, allow us to give half stars). The chips and selection of salsa are solid, though they seem to be pretty stingy on the salsa. They have some interesting drink selections; nothing to make this a destination place, but it’s pretty good. The Tex Mex plates don’t do much for me. The brunch, in my opinion, is not worth it. There is nothing special to set this place apart.

This place is great. The people who work there are very friendly. We came in for taco Tuesday lunch. The specials are on point. I got the pork tacos on hard corn tortillas and my boyfriend got the beef on flour. I like how they toast the flour ones. It let’s the cheese melt nicely on the meat. Also really liked there green chili it has pulled meat in it and it’s yummy. Not to spicy. Good drink special prices for happy hour too! We just moved here from San Diego and it have off a North Park vibe which I loved. I’ll be back to try out brunch and their bottomless mimosas!

My husband had the chili dog mac and the Titanic wedge… very yummy. I had the wahoo tacos and loved the depth of flavors in this taco. Michelle took really good care of us. Service was prompt and just right.

I’m hesitant to give Lucha Cantina more than 3 stars just yet. We went last Saturday, the service was strange, we had three different servers which made things feel inconsistent. It took about 20 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering even though we were almost the only one’s in the restaurant. Can only imagine how slow it would be during a rush. The PBJBCB(I think I spelled that right), is a Peanut Butter Jelly Bacon Cheese Burger. It sounds crazy, it is crazy, but it is delicious! What outshines the burger? The house-made tater tots. Good lord! And I thought Highland Tavern in Denver had good tots… If Napoleon Dynamite was real this is where he’d go. The buffalo mac n cheese sounded better than it tasted. It was more of a generic spicy taste than a buffalo chicken taste, and it was rather oily. The presentation seemed rather cafeteria style than the price tag suggested. I would skip the mac n cheese when/if I go again. Lucha has happy hour prices on food and drink. All of us ordered drinks from the happy hour list, and ordered chips with queso & salsa from the list. When our bill came the chips and queso were $ 12 instead of $ 4, and two of the drinks were not the happy hour price either. We brought this to the attention of our(3rd) server. He seemed smug about it, and even said that the happy hour chips and queso were«much smaller». It’s not our fault that he hadn’t clarified what we wanted. He did come back and let us know he’d adjusted the bill. Not so stellar service, hit and miss food, 3 stars it is.

It’s always a great time when we come here. The food is amazing and the service is fantastic. When we come, we only sit in the area Michelle serves because she is on point. She always makes sure our drinks stay full and offers great food recommendations. Definitely try this place and ask for Michelle!!!

Ugh! We ate here last night and I am STILLFULL. This is not a bad thing, my friends. Our party of three stopped in after wandering about looking for a place to have dinner. My friend had been here for lunch and had had a nice experience, so we decided to try it. After reviewing the menu, I had to ask what didn’t have cilantro in it(cuz ya know I loath the stuff and it loathes me) and I was a bit sad to find out that most everything on the Mexican side had it in it… so I looked toward the burgers and mac and cheeses.(There is one salsa on the flight that does not have the evil green leaf in it — Our server, Thomas, brought me a little extra, cuz that’s how awesome he is.) The chips are flour tortillas and the flight had a really interesting assortment of salsas — I didn’t try them, but my friends enjoyed them — though I think there was a chipotle one that didn’t quite live up to the rest. I am going to have to say I am SOGLAD that everything else has cilantro in it, because I would not have experienced the freaking awesomeness of the burger I ordered. It was so good, I sent pictures to my friend who is out of town and taunted him with it. I ordered the PBJB Burger. First, praise the little baby Jesus that I have finally found another restaurant that recognizes the amazing flavor combination of peanut butter on a burger(don’t knock it ’till you try it– everyone so far has seen the light) The burger was cooked well, the bun was soft and delicious, and I felt my tastebuds dance on the first bite. The burger was so good, I didn’t even care about my sweet potato fries. My friend ordered the monster that is the BBQ pulled pork bacon cheese burger. Wear stretchy pants for this one, my friends. It is a giant Dagwood style burger that has layers of flavors that blend into a mound of burger-pulled pork goodness. I only had one bite, but it was well worth the coleslaw on my chin. Our final burger of the night was the chicken fried burger. This is another one for stretchy pants(who am I kidding — they were ALL cause for stretchy pants). This is a breaded and fried burger with chorizo gravy. De-li-cious. It’s a good sign when we were all so full it hurt and didn’t want to leave any burger on the plate. Drinks: among us, we ordered a margarita(the first one on the menu, can’t remember the name) and a sangria and I had the George Clooney(since Amal has claimed him, this is my only option now. hehe) The margarita was good, sangria was a nice blending of wine and fruit and George was an interesting cocktail of tequila, cranberry, cuantro, and lime. My sadness came when I was so full that the thought of even taking the last few sips of the cocktail made my belly frown and hint it might not be the wisest move. Thomas gave great service. Hat tip to the chef and I look forward to trying the brunch(bottomless mimosas?!? Hello!) I’m looking forward to going again — I just wish they would think about some sort of their Mexican inspired menu items without cilantro(which I easily find when I go to Mexico.)
