How fun was this event!!! A small group of us got together to sample 7 burgers and sandwiches off the Smashing menu, while we drank complimentary beers and even had a taste of their shakes at the end. My husband got to go in the back and Smash some burgers on the grill which was a very fun and FUNNY experience for us both. I loved that there were just a few of us, so I really had a chance to connect and have some great conversations with the CS elites. Thanks for a great time Smashburger and Unilocal

Even Bronco’s MNF couldn’t keep the die-hard Elites(and their guests) home! This event was very well organized(including goody bags!), we were delighted to try SEVEN burgers(via quarters of each) including their black bean veggie and 2 different Smashchicken, and the New Belgium beer was flowing. The owner of this 2 week old establishment and two lovely ladies from Smashburger corporate marketing were dynamic hosts. The owner was kind and interested in his guests; more than once I saw him look up from a conversation to thank customers as they were leaving. The marketing ladies were great about describing each burger, including nuances that I’ve never paid attention to: did you know there are actual chipotle peppers in the chipotle bun on the Colorado burger? And the fried onions strings on the BBQ burger were amazing; you can seriously ask for those lovely additions on any burger and I highly recommend! Oh, and can’t forget the truffle mayo on the mushroom and swiss burger– what it is about truffle that is so delicious?! This was also an opportunity for me to try something from their secret sides menu: fried green chilies! I knew about the fried pickles on the secret menu, but the fried green chilies are my new favorite because I don’t know anywhere else you can have them. I finally tried their Smashfries as well: rosemary, olive oil and garlic, and they were spectacular. And as always their sweet potato fries were delicious too. The frosty mugs for my New Belgium 1554 was a nice touch. Burgers + beer = dining love. We all were able to head back to the kitchen to watch one of our party smash a burger; quite the production! Those burger guys work hard, I believe the words«Metal to Metal» were used to describe how the special metal smasher needs to touch the metal of the grill to seal in the juices from the fresh ball of meat as it cooks. Also very interesting to learn why it’s ok to «smash» the burger when it’s fresh vs when it’s cooking: Grilling 101, we all know that pushing on a burger while it’s cooking dries it out because it pushes out the juices, but because they smash it fresh it’s actually cooking it in it’s own juices creating a nice«crust» while keeping it moist. And the fact that they have to sharpen the edges of their spatulas to get that freshly smashed burger off the grill to flip was an interesting tidbit– gives me a lot more appreciation for my burger preparation :) The milkshake tastes at the end were the perfect finish to the night! So happy to try the PB&J shake, which I was a little leery of, but found to be quite tasty. And you really can’t go wrong with an Oreo shake. Thank you to Francis G. for organizing. And thank you to the owner, whose name I’ve forgotten(ugh!), and the Smashburger marketing duo; and the kitchen and food runner staff worked very hard too. A truly unique experience to become better acquainted with Smashburger; I was already a fan, and now I’m an even bigger fan!

This was a great night out! We had a small group of Unilocalers join us at Smashburger for a tasting menu of a variety of sandwiches and sides. First, the hospitality could not have been better. The owner and the marketing folks were great a welcoming us and walking us through the menu. Had a very nice chat with the owner about his philosophy and commitment to bring good food to that part of town. Nice to hear. The smash fries are something that shouldn’t be missed. I could make a meal out of these alone. Nicely seasoned and salted. Definitely a must have. I won’t go through all the burgers we tried, but there were some that stood out. My favorite was the classic smashburger. Simple basic burger with the fixings. The thing I loved was the freshness of it. From the pickles to the hot burger, it was excellent. I also liked the mushroom/truffle burger. The mushrooms gave it a nice earthy taste. Will be back for that one. Overall, a great night. Thanks again to Frances for putting it together and making the trek to the springs.
