The service was slow and the bead pudding was literally a price of bread with ice-cream on it.

3 Stars only because of the server«Noël» the food is 2 stars Stopped by for dinner tonight. We have the Prime Rib & Rib Eye steak dinners. Pro: Friendly staff«Noël» was great Prices were reasonable Portion are good Con: Prime rib was not high quality 14 oz was a size portion but quality was not there. A little to tough Rib Eye as okay but could be a better quality as well. The lady at the door entrance should welcome everyone and thank everyone upon leaving and that did not happen. I come from the old school I rather have better quality, smaller portion, than larger portion of lesser quality Suggest to the management move to 8 or 10 oz portion of super quality for the price. You should be able to cut your prime rib with your fork if the quality is there. I’ll be back to try the ribs at a later time hopefully I’ll see improvement

Stopped by for the experience of part of our vacation. Sat in John Wayne’s booth which made everything in life better. Very accommodating, friendly, helpful staff & management. Had the rib eye, okra, soup, & pie. Rib eye, soup, okra & their own pickles fantastic. Rib eye not thick but big, & tender. Their homemade pie could have had a more browned crust to make it better. Blond crust is never good. The locals started up conversations with us, which was delightful. We will be back again next Saturday after 4 p.m. to get the prime rib & a baked. Prices were reasonable. The locals said they come Tues night for the Tues special of two hamburgers for the price of $ 10. Sounds like its a social gathering for locals. Fun.

Staff is all very friendly but I’ve never had a meal there that was too special in anyway. Prime rib is the only thing I would order again.

Since being introduced to Nate’s in 2013 it has been my go to place to eat. My friend and I usually like to go on Friday so we can have their fish. The portions have always been very generous. But the last 2 times we have eaten there the portions have been cut way back. I ordered one to go for my daughter who was coming from Las Vegas, NV. When I got home, I looked at the ordered. It was so small it looked like a child’s plate. seriously…what is happening to Nate’s???It makes me not want to go back. Come on Nate’s get with it get back to the old portions… please…

As western as western gets. We’ve been three times. Their wood smoked prime rib is great. Insider tip: order your prime rib one level of doneness higher than usual, their medium rare is what most places serve as rare. Their sides are delicious and their horseradish sauce kicks like a mule. If you’re in the Valley and want to know where the beef is, in a friendly, casual place – Nate’s Cowboy Café will satisfy. As far as the price guide, I think Nate’s rates a single dollar sign, the portions are huge and not too hard on the wallet. You get a lot on your plate for your money.

Didn’t care for their food when they were in town and the same goes for their new location. Food is so so and usually arrives cold. Also shocked at how filthy the women’s room was. Really takes away your appetite!

Read up on nate’s, saw good reviews. Ribs: all we could taste was the smoke, and not pleasant. Too overbearing. Potato skins were nice and crispy, but with only a few chopped green onions, could use more garnish. Had the haddock, asked for half serving. Got about a tablespoon of coleslaw, one small piece fish which was good. Service was good.

Staff is terrific. From a read of the menu, I thought of Texas Comfort Food. I wanted to like it but to this southern girl, mashed potatoes are made(creamy) with milk and butter, these were made with just broth. Gravies are thick and flavorful– what I found was thin, watery– both the white and brown gravies. The meat was tasty but the chicken fried steak needed a lot more tenderizing. The boiled veggies were carrots, celery and chopped onion. Meh. The cook must have roots in other cuisine. Food was not«bad» but just not what one expects when reading a menu of southern foods.

3 times the charm, never going back. Gave this place the chance, but man. The service is non existent, every time. Do NOT ever get the sirloin, cooked gray every time even though asked for med-rare. Got the ribeye this time and so did my friend, her’s was decent, mine was ¼ inch thick, for a ribeye? None of the items supposed to be on the salad bar for our other friend, who asked 3 times for the«biscuits» that were supposed to come with it. The waitress never came back even after repeated requests for our checks, for someone to ring us up, after begging the hostess she finally rang us so we could leave! There were 5 tables being used, the place was empty and still this«service».

We have been there twice now and think this is such a gem! When you walk in we were warmly greeted and we never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seated, even though it was a full house, because this place is awesome. We came both times on a Tuesday, which just so happens to be their 2 burgers for $ 10 special! The food was heavenly, we ordered okra and fries as our side and they were perfect. The sweet pickles are TODIEFOR. The second time we came in they very kindly sold me an extra container to take home because they are THATGOOD! Come for happy hour and you can get the fantastic special AND great drink deals. The service was spectacular, Miranda really made our day. We can’t wait to become regulars. They have a rewards program that is such a great idea and deal, ask about it when you go in! This place is a must and it’s very easy to spot off the road. Go now!

We go here every chance we get, although it is not close to home. I finally got ribs this time. HELLYES to the RIBS!!! They are smokey, tender, tasty AND meaty! Get them without the sauce because you don’t want to cover up the amazing flavor!!! Add a very unique and yummy soup and salad bar for only $ 3.00!!! There is smokey smoked chicken, quality ham, super fresh greens(and lots more) and homemade soups and dressings!!! This place is casual and comfy. The friendly owner and his wife are always there making sure things are running smoothly. The service is quick and the food is good! We haven’t tried dessert yet because we leave so full, but it looks amazing! We go to Sedona often and make the drive from Sedona to Nates!!! It is worth the drive!

Great great food. The drinks are perfectly mixed. The salad bar was fresh, fresh, fresh. The pork sliders were amazing. The ribeye steak was juicy and full of smoky goodness. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the tater salad was perfect with the ribs For desert, we had the cherry pie. It was a work of art sanctioned by Michelangelo himself. Melissa was an awesome server Great place

We came here for lunch because we were visiting in the area and found this place on and bought a gift certificate. The restaurant is very clean and decorated with a western flare(appropriate). The waitress was friendly and we were promptly served. Our sandwich was was very good and a nice portion. There is seating with booths, tables and outdoor patio. They lost a star because the ladies bathroom needs a good cleaning; my feet were sticking to the floor and floor and toilet were dirty. My hope is their kitchen is kept cleaner.

The food was quite tasty but the service was terrible. After waiting to be seated for 5 minutes our group finally took some menus from the hostess station and seated ourselves. 10 minutes later a wait person came to ask us what we wanted to drink. Another 15 minutes to place our order, etc. etc. With a wide selection of really good places to eat in the Verde Valley it is unlikely we will be returning to Nate’s.

I’m sorry to do this because the people who own and run the place seem really nice, and the food was relatively good with the exception of the fries which were very overcooked. The reason they don’t get one star is the Unilocal deal. That’s really the only thing that saved the otherwise unacceptable errors. 1. Give customers everything you promise. Neither my husband nor I got the«sweet cowboy biscuit» that was supposed to come with our meals(and we didn’t realize it until we got back to Phoenix). 2. Staff accordingly. Our server was overwhelmed and it showed. She was visibly stressed and unable to provide attentive service. 3. MOST importantly, cook your meat through. There’s no excuse for raw chicken. Ever. And by the time I noticed the issue, I had already taken a bite of some very pink chicken. See picture.
