The food is amazing. A must try is the Blue Point Oysters! Definitely worth it! We came in on Sunday afternoon at approximately 2pm and had no problem with the service! The staff is wonderful, pleasant, and so nice !!

So I had to see what ask the fuss was about when a friend raved about this place. We went down at 5, and ordered the house oysters. bad bad bad, they took them back and removed them from the bill. They taste like oysters from Mexico gone bad. That’s not what we were there for, so no harm no foul but lesson learned. Then ordered Clam chowder, YUM! So good both the Manhattan and new England were amazing, I’d definitely go back for the new England. The pan roast is what some folks are going crazy for. A thick soup, of tomato cream base, lots of herbs and lots of seafood. I ordered the house pan roast, it comes with crab meat, shrimp, langostine tails, and Clams, it’s served with a scoop of white rice in the middle. It was good, very heavy on the tomato and cream and nice heavy seafood option. It was tasty, and I’ve been back a second time. This time getting all«lobster» aka langostine. Which I did not care for, they just don’t have the same taste as actual lobster meat. I’ll return when I have a hankering but why 4 stars, you ask??? I dont eat pork and they actually went through their menu for each dish I asked for, resulting in the pan roast being my best bet. I love them for that, that’s why I go back and will return. Liked it a lot, good style of food, my mom thought her food was a bit salty, but I like saltier foods so I was fine. The food doesn’t look that appealing on a visual level, but it tasted incredible.

I use to come here quite often but after today I don’t think I will be coming back any time soon. I order the shrimp scampi and my gosh this dish was bland bland bland. It was like a big bowl of soup. I added salt and still not good. My linguini tasted uncooked and I told the waitress but she didn’t even offer a discount or change the dish for me until the third time and by then I didn’t even wait it anymore. I don’t understand how come she didn’t offer to bring it back to the kitchen the first time instead she brought me Cajun powder to see if it will taste better. she kept apologizing though. What happened to keeping your customer happy? My bf orders the pan roast and I thought it’s tasted ok. Not like it use to be. They use to serve it with a lot of seafood for 19 bucks and now they raised it by a dollar and doesn’t even taste as good. I don’t do much reviews but this was bad enough to do one

Had to go to dentist and then hobby lobby. As I was leaving parking lot saw the sign. Very impressed was greated and sat right away. While server was busy, she still was able to handle the whole restaurant. Had cup of clam chowder. Good flavor amd loaded with clams. Bitesize potatoes !! Awesome. Fish and chips as well had a good flavor. Not a fan of tartar sauce , this sauce was by far the best. Will be back even though it is a drive. Well worth it !!

HH: 5−630pm they’re very strict on the hours, if you miss the hrs then they won’t honor it. Other places honor HH after a couple minutes. This place reminds me of Ritter’s with the similar style of cooking in the steam cookery. House Pan Roast: 3 stars just ok, there wasn’t much seafood in this dish & the portion was on the small side. Fried dungeness crab: 2.5 stars very small portion: 1 crab that was cut in ½. Mussels: 2 stars Very small portions & the favor was on the bland side. Overall: 2.5 stars Overpriced small portions of seafood. Sorry but Riters & Oyster Bar in Vegas beats this place hands down.

This place has always great food and great service. I love everything! Today I also tried the dessert(cream brulee) which I’ve never ordered. It was so delicious, too! Love this place!

While looking for seafood places to try here on Unilocal,I came across this gem and selected it for a birthday lunch date! What a great choice! It’s located in The Commons shopping center in Chino Hills, directly across the parking lot from Babies R Us. I am pointing this out because we drove around and around in the parking lot looking for this place. I don’t know if their sign is faded, or just a bad color and design but we could NOT find it and had to call and ask what they are next to(The Frame Salon). We purposely went at an odd time(230pm on a Saturday) and were seated immediately by a friendly server named Jasmine. We tried many items including a cup of New England Clam Chowder, a Caesar Salad, Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Shrimp Scampi entrée and a House Pan Roast(3 on the spicy scale) with rice. I also ordered an extra side of rice because it came up so much as a tip here on Unilocal but it really wasn’t needed. All of the food was DELICIOUS and plentiful. We are«big eaters» and the portion sizes were great!(No pictures taken this trip because everything we ordered already had plenty of pictures on Unilocal). The bar area was almost full, but they still had some tables available while we were there and Jasmine was VERY attentive and friendly. Our bill came to $ 74 before tip(we also had two sodas to drink) and we left satisfied and happy! I recommend The Boiler and look forward to going back!

Not bad! They offer a lunch portion until 2:30 on the weekdays, so came here for lunch with my sister. I got the Gumbo with spiciness level 8(out of 10), and she got the House Pan Roast with spiciness level 5. There is a complimentary bread basket, but the bread was like half warm… I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be like that. The food itself was pretty good, really enjoyed the gumbo, but there was only a little kick of spice — could’ve gone higher. Had a bite of my sister’s pan roast and it wasn’t spicy at all. The pan roast was too tomato-ey for me, so I’m glad I got the gumbo. There was an ample amount of seafood in both. The lunch portion was filling, I think I had a couple bites left that I couldn’t finish — definitely would recommend coming for lunch if you want to save some money. I believe our dishes were $ 13-$ 14, whereas dinner is $ 22-$ 24. The service was friendly, but it was very slow and it was really hard to flag down a server. Other than that, good place to grab some yummy gumbo!

I came here with a party of 9 for a friend’s birthday dinner on a Sunday at 7pm. They don’t take reservations, so we had to wait to be seated. Despite that, the wait only took about 10 minutes as we gathered everyone together. The place is small with a round counter-top to watch your steamed kettle being cooked and about ten small tables around the restaurant. Our group decided to share some appetizers to start: cajun fries($ 4), sweet potato fries(5), and two orders of calamari(8.50). It was cute how they appetizer plates were shaped in a ying and yang to fit two appetizers as one round plate. Both the fries were good and simple, but the calamari was the best. They were huge pieces with a lot of crunch in every bite. Alongside, we were served crisp tortillas and bread as well. The problem was that we didn’t realize there was a limit on the number of bread baskets we could get, so we were stuffing ourselves in the beginning. So quick note, make sure you save the bread for your actual meal! Now for the main course, every single person ordered the house pan roast($ 20.50) except one person in our group. The house pan roast is perfect for first-timers as it has a little bit of every type of seafood. Even for returners, it’s wonderful because it’s the best of all flavors. You also get to choose your spiciness level from 1 – 10. I can handle most spicy foods, so my friends helped me choose level 10. I was only a tad disappointed that the level 10 spice didn’t even make me sweat nor crave water, but it had great taste! Although the food is good, the price and portions is not worth it in my opinion. I recall my experience at Ritters and the house pan roast was around the same price, but double the portion. Luckily our group individually ordered a pan roast because remembering my experience at Ritters, I was going to recommend two people to share each bowl. There was difficulty getting the attention of the servers for many times, so thumbs down for that. Otherwise, they were pretty nice about allowing our table to hang around and chat until closing.

Came for a birthday and it was everything we hoped for and more. Luckily it wasn’t busy and the customer service was spot on. They’re known for the pan roast and for a good reason. The house combination is shrimp, crab, lobster and white fish. It’s whole shrimp, juicy pieces of lobster and shredded crab meat. Tomato cream based sauce is delicious with the fluffy jasmine rice. There’s a spice choice for you, scale of one to ten. Five is compared to tabasco(according to our server) and it’s a nice kick. The chowder was awesome and packed with seafood. The bacon wrapped shrimp with onion rings and honey sauce had good flavor. Calamari breading was thick, but I enjoyed it. Not a fan of the boiled oysters though. Really different flavor that I wasn’t expecting. Overall great atmosphere and awesome first time experience. Can’t wait to come back here.

This place was a bit underwhelming. My friends & I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch based off my friend’s recommendation. The menu was a little confusing to us with all the options so we just had our friend ordered for us. We got: — The New England Clam Chowder(a cup) – This was not bad. I liked that you get big chunks of clams. — The House Pan Roast – This was really good. We asked for the rice on the side but I guess they forgot & put it in. — Soft Shell Crab – comes with 2 soft shell crabs. I liked this dish the least & wouldn’t get it again. The crab seemed slightly undercooked & wasn’t crispy. — Cajun Fries – not bad. Tastes like typical cajun fries, but could be a lil crispier. Tasted a little more on the soggier side but I love fries so I’ll still eat them: D The restaurant itself was pretty empty & although the waitress was really nice, she kept forgetting things. She didn’t give us plates or bowls when our food arrived(we were sharing everything), it took forever to get her attention, and she forgot that we wanted the rice on the side for the house pan roast. I figured the service would be a little better since it wasn’t busy at all. The only reason I would come back is for the house pan roast. Other than that, I can pass.

I been stopping by the broiler whenever Im in the Chino area. I first heard about the place cause they have one in Las Vegas and to be authentic Cajun food. First off you select your level of spicy for your dish… Their mild selection number 5 was spicy for me, next time I’m going to go lower to a 4. I usually get Jambalya or the gumbo and its very good but expensive for what it is. I ordered the calamari and it was good breading but rubbery texture and came to the table cold. They give you bread with your meal and its good. The best part of this place is excellent friendly service. My recommendation is try this place at lunch, portions are good size and better value.

I came here around 12:30 on a Sunday and the wait was about 25 minutes. We just sat inside looking at the menu. The interior is pretty cool because you can see the chef make all the entrees in the middle of the room, so it explained the wait. The waiter was extremely nice. We order crab cakes as an appretizer and I order the house signature pan dish with shrimp. The crab cake was okay to me. Nothing too much out of the ordinary, but I also rarely have crab cakes. My pan dish was very good. It was basically a bowl of sauce with a scoop of rice plopped in the middle. I think next time, I’d ask for my rice on the side. Just because I basically lost track of my rice. And maybe I’d order more rice or another carb(like cajun fries like others recommended) since there’s just so much sauce. I got a spicy level of 7 and I didn’t really taste the heat, so I will be getting a 10 next time. It had a very tomato-like taste which was a bit sour for my preference, but I feel like getting a higher spice level would’ve helped this.

Not sure how big or small the lunch portions are but they are cheaper and only available during the weekdays. The House Pan Roast was super delicious! They do not skimp out on the seafood either. There was a good amount of crab in mines. It is tomato cream based and reminded me of the seafood bisque at one of my favorite cajun/creole restaurants in San Diego but with larger portions. I had some of my husband’s Fisherman’s Chowder, which you can choose either New England style or Manhattan style. My husband chose New England. It was also filled with seafood. The chowder was very flavorful and tasty. The food was pretty filling and they have complimentary bread.

I’m a huge fan of the Boiler Room! The traffic and distance could not keep me away. I’ve decided to hold off on the review so I was able to try all the competitors out there. I’m pleased to say the Boiler Room had the best consistency when it came to the portion and quality. The service here did lack a bit, as it seems like they are short on staff. I definitely encourage coming with a group so you’ll be able to try as much as you can! If it’s your first time, do sit at the bar. You can watch them prepare your meal while you munch on their appetizers! I personally enjoyed their soft shell crab over their crab cakes. The soft shell crab was seasoned perfectly and I just love the texture. The crab cakes were a bit small to share and it wasn’t as buttery as I would like. Cajun fries were just regular fries with seasoning. Nothing special. The New England clam chowder is a must try! It’s chunky, creamy, and loaded with seafood! It’s everything you expect from a clam chowder and more! My favorite is their House Pan Roast! They also have many other ingredients to choose from but this is probably the best deal! I simply could not get enough! The tomato soup base is so creamy and rich in flavor! It kind of reminds me of butter chicken curry/tiki masala. Just from photos alone, you can see all the seafood stacked in the center(crab leg/claw, shrimp, clam, & mussels). All the entrées also contain a scoop of rice which goes perfectly with their sauce! I honestly would come here just for the pan roast. The Étouffée is a lighter alternative to the pan roast that doesn’t contain cream. If you like more rice, the Jambalaya would be good too! It has the essence of the étouffée. I really hope they can open one closer to LA! Then I would probably go every week! :P

Even after a hunger inducing workout, I left the Boiler feeling full but overall feeling like I could have had better. After my nearly life-changing experience having pan roast for the first time at Ritter’s in OC, I was excited to try out The Boiler especially after my friends and I had finished a run in the area. It is located in your typical suburban plaza with a variety of other shops and restaurants. When we got inside, it was fairly empty with plenty of seats around. However, it took several minutes until someone would come around and even then they needed a few more minutes to get a table cleaned for us. Much like Ritter’s, they do have other things on the menu but they are known for their pan roast. NOTE: they do have lunch and dinner pricing for these items but the lunch prices do not apply on the weekend. When you order the pan roast, they will ask for how spicy you want the dish stating that the 5 – 6 range is in the range of Tobasco. I went with the house roast at five. In terms of the dish, it was as expected: a nice warm hearty soup with chunks of seafood. However, in terms of flavor, it didn’t seem like it had the same depth of flavor that I remember. I did finish it in one sitting but I didn’t really care to take it home like I did for Ritter’s. Again, the service was not the best. Although the food came out pretty quickly, it seemed weird that for an empty restaurant they wouldn’t have places ready for people to seat immediately. In terms of parking, there is plenty in the plaza. Overall, the Boiler serves decent pan roast but at the dinner price and the service, I would look elsewhere.

There’s a place for Pan Roast in Chino?! How did I miss this before? It was pretty empty on a Thursday evening. There’s plenty of regular seating, as well as counter seating where you can watch them cook. Service was fast, and our waitress was very friendly. She gave us complimentary bread basket. The bread itself were meh. They were limp, no crunchy crust, and tasted like plain white bread. Good enough for dunking into the soups, but the calories were almost not worth it. There’s a lot of options on the menu that all sounded similar. I didn’t really know what the difference was! Bouillabaisse vs. cioppino vs. étouffée? They all have tons of seafood in it so they all sounded good to me! But I came specifically for the PANROAST — tomato cream based sauce.(Although, all the other ones have tomatoes too, so really, someone please educate me lol). We shared the House Pan Roast, level 2 spicy. You can see the pieces of shrimp with the tails still on, which is a good thing. The crab and lobster though, were shredded too small. You can’t taste it individually at all. And I don’t even remember seeing any clams. The sauce tasted predominately tomato, with a hint of seafood essence. It is very rich and flavorful, but I just wish there were larger chunks of seafood, especially for the price we’re paying. They gave us jasmine rice on the side(rather than inside the middle of the bowl). By itself, it was very mushy and dense, not fluffy like good rice. But once the sauce soaks over it, it’s a good accompaniment. We also shared the crab cake appetizers. This was forgettable. Again, did not really taste the crab, mostly filler. I do love a hearty pan roast, and the rest of the menu sounds promising. Gumbo or jambalaya next time perhaps?

Love, love, love this place. All I get when I come here is the house pan roast. That’s all you need. Everything else is just icing on the cake. The calamari is crispy and tasty. The bacon wrapped shrimp with cheese inside is so good, it has a halo(onion ring) on top. The baked oysters(Rockefeller style) are freakin’ good. The service here is pretty darn good, too. Come get the house pan roast. You won’t be disappointed.

I walked into The Boiler to find several empty tables and bar seats. The person took our name down and told us that the wait is at least 45 minutes. There were 3 parties ahead of us and there were enough empty seats for all of us. We ended up waiting exactly 16 minutes and got seated at the bar that’s been empty all along. I seriously think they really need to take a look at their seating system. I was almost ready to walk out and find something else when I was told 45 minutes minimum. The food was quite good. I had their House Pan Roast. It is a combo with clam, lobster, shrimp and scallop. A lot of people add sausage to it but since I’m trying to stay away from meat, I opted out. The dish is very rich. I would either order extra rice or do what we did today and ordered fries to dip in the pan roast. The dishes are not cheap. Your pan roast will cost you about $ 20 not including tax and tip but it’s worth the money with the quality of food you get. The pan roast is quite filling. I only ate half and took the other half home.
