I’ve been here a few times and their pasta is nearly impeccable. However they are closed for business as of June 2015.

I was pleasantly surprised by Via Carducci. It definitely was not the red sauce joint I had assumed it would be. Now, I might be bias because the owner is Italian(which is always a plus), but most of our food was well portioned and very tasty. At the beginning of your meal, fresh bread was brought to the table and we weren’t rushed into ordering anything. This was a surprise since we decided to dine here on Valentine’s Day. My friend ordered the Spaghetti alla Carbonara, while I ordered the Bucatini alla Matriciana. Both sauces that accompanied the dishes were flavorful without the loads of salt. Also, The pasta was al dente — the way it should be! I think my only disappointment was in the Salad Mista that we ordered. The dressing was light and refreshing, but I didn’t think it was worth the 8 dollars. There was nothing special on it and it certainly was not large in portion. Overall, I would definitely come back for their simple, yet delicious Italian cuisine.

We have been going here for years and it is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Chicago. The food is amazing and the service is spectacular. We love the place and can’t wait to go overtime.

Solid Italian option in the west side of Lincoln Park. Currently the overall 3.5÷5.0 rating is probably accurate. We brought our almost 3 year old here and they were accommodating. Definitely not the best Italian food I’ve had, but better than average and will eat here again as it’s a close option for us.

Dinner was really good. The restaurant was nice and service friendly. We really enjoyed ourselves. Our only complaint is that for the weather we are having its very cold inside the restaurant. Each time the door opened we were hit with cold air. Not pleasant to enjoy. But I’ll probably return in warmer weather.

The bruschetta was ok. The entrees were bland. The service was fast but my girlfriend and I felt rushed. Before the appetizers were finished, the entrees were there. Before we finished our meal, the check was presented. This was on a Saturday night The place is ok but could use an update and better waiters :(

My girlfriend and I often go to this place because its convenient and they always seem to offer Groupons. The service is always great, the food is good too. I would call it «reliable Italian» …you always know what you’re getting.

This is one of my favorite restaurants to get together with the family. Food has been delicious every time I have come here. My favorite pasta to get here is the gnocchi. Thank you Via Carducci we will be back!

Via Carducci was overpriced for mediocre food. We ordered two pasta dishes, and neither one was very good. The pasta tasted store bought and was undercooked. Al denti is one thing, this was undercooked. There was a bottle of sparkling water on the table, which I’m guessing you could purchase, but no one made mention of it to us, so we didn’t open it. There was a candle on the table, but it wasn’t lit. This is probably because things get burned, like the menu they handed me that had a spot of melted plastic. Additionally, our waiter didn’t really greet us or mention any specials until we asked if there were any. Service was average at best. We decided to skip dessert, and left disappointed. We will not be retuning.

I stopped by to get a to-go dinner on my way from the salon across the street. I ordered the Vitello Vesuvio veal. It was amazing. Best dish I’ve had in a long time. I thought the portion was pretty generous and wasn’t sure I was gonna finish it. Nope, it was gone before I knew it. It was a real homemade Italian meal, which is hard to find among all the chains and other wannabe places these days. My pallet was in heaven. The ambiance was great inside too. Felt very peaceful and homey. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back.

Not impressed, high prices for low quality. Bread was good, service good. Dinner for two, with appetizer and a glass of wine with our entrée was $ 96. Never need to eat here again. Chicken Marsala was plain chicken in marsala sauce. Nothing amazing or even tasty. So disappointed for my bf birthday dinner.

Conveniently located in my neck of the woods, this place has not changed — it’s still terrific. I had not been here in a while and was happy my neighbor invited me out. The ambiance is warm and inviting — perfect not only for dates, but for spending time with friends and family. My friend and I started with a glass of chianti. They gave us some bread which we dipped in olive oil. They were a bit stingy with the parmesan cheese. I’m accustomed to restaurants leaving a bowl of it on the table to go with the bread. We had to ask our server, who then gave a little bit on our plates. It was like they were rationing the parm or something. Strange… So one star off for that! For an appetizer, we enjoyed the grilled calamari. My main entrée was orchiette with sausage and vegetables. Both were delicious. Overall, I like this place — proximity to my place, ambience, and food.

This was very weird to me. Anyways, their website said they are open so we got there an hour before it opened. The lady was super rude on the phone when I told her she should update the website. We waited at a starbucks for two hours. So my friend and I walk in and Telemundo is on… which is weird in an Italian restaurant in America. They quickly changed it but everything seemed to be in half Spanish half Italian. This is an Italian place, I want to think I’m eating Italian food. You wouldn’t go into an Indian restaurant and expect to see Greek… Anyways there were huge flies everywhere. The rude woman from the phone call was openly arguing with the waiters about some lighter. We ordered the calamari to start and the bread was great, one star for each. Then the caprese salad and pasta carbonara for entrees. The pasta had no flavor and the salad tasted like poorly washed Walmart veggies. It was actually so gross a one point I gagged. The waiter never smiled, I actually didn’t see him after our order. There were only 3 tables, 6 people total. I could actually look directly at him and we still got the bus boy.

Busy night(Wed)…we couldn’t tell from our server that it was busy. We never felt neglected(my pet peeve!) I had the pasta with salmon and vodka sauce. YUM! The salmon was fresh and tasted smoked! Nice romantic atmosphere. Good wine list. Easy free street parking right across the street. I would definitely go again!

I came here recently on a groupon and although I don’t get excited about italian restaurants, I had just finished watching the entire Sopranos series and I was craving pasta like mad. I was a tad late but it seemed that my friend was getting pretty well entertained by the server, so that was nice. We ordered a couple of caesar salads and they were authentically prepared with the runny raw egg type dressing and complete with anchovies, rather than the creamy white dressing you see in salad bars. I then had the shrimp linguini, which was really good. It was piled on with shrimp and broccoli and even the noodles alone were tasty– well seasoned and not too oily. It was a cute little restaurant with what seemed like some regulars and a solo diner and the service was fine– not rushed– but not absent either, just like it should be when having a nice relaxed italian meal.

My girl and I ventured here, Groupon in hand, prepared to celebrate her new promotion. Thankfully, Via Carducci was up to the task. The meal began with fresh, hot bread. This is the threshold of any Italian restaurant. Failure to bring hot bread to the table is the kiss of death. Via Carducci passed this most important task. My girl ordered the burrata. Tasted fairly flavorless to me, but she loved it. For my entrée, I went with the chicken marsala. That was great. The sauce was delicious and the mushrooms were a perfect compliment. We skipped dessert in favor of some martinis. Our server recommended a chocolate mousse martini(that’s no longer on the menu), so I took him up on the offer. It was strong and ridiculously sweet. I’d pass on that if I return. Service was solid. I wish the atmosphere were a bit cozier. The main dining room is pretty crammed full of tables and chairs. I would have preferred a little privacy, or a booth. But the important thing is that Via Carducci had some very good food. It’s worth another visit.

It pains me to have to only give this place three stars, because the food was so good. It really was. I had the margherita pizza — cheesy, perfect crust, YUM… However the service was just AWFUL. I mean really. The waiter only came by to take our order — that’s it. Never came back to ask how our food was, or to ask if I wanted another Diet Coke(and I would have liked one!) — or even if we wanted dessert. Nothing. We tried signaling him — or someone — over and it always failed. In my book, that is pretty unacceptable. The inside of the restaurant is really cute and super comfortable. I felt very«at home» there. I am truly hoping that the quality of the service that evening was not reflective of the entire wait staff. I will give it another try because I loved the food, but if I get ignored again I’m not so sure I would go again.

Thought that they did northern rustic Italian cooking very well. Everything we ordered was tasty and simple and the waiter gave us some good wine advice which we were glad we took. I tried the veal I went here with a groupon so I can’t complain about the price too much. The atmosphere was pretty nice and had most of the things you would expect to find in a somewhat upscale italian restaurant. I would definitely go back here for a date or with a very small group of people.

I came here with my date on a groupon deal. This place was pretty friendly. The service is pretty quick, which may have something to do with the fact that it was nearing closing time. The drinks on their list seems pretty interesting and it definitely hit the spot for me. Their soup was exceptional along with the dishes that came. Their salad looked so well decorated that I felt kind of bad eating it. It tasted refreshing. The waiter checked up on us several times and made sure our dishes were taken away(though this took a bit for them to clear it away). The bill took forever to clear though. It was kind of a long wait… I might’ve gotten so impatient that I left without taking my leftovers even though it was packed!
