I dined on a Sunday Night during restaurant week and I must say that the place and food was excellent. They were very accommodating with my very large reservation via open table as I had extra guest to addition to my reservation. The Manager and my waitress Nicole was very helpful and extremely educated with the menu and drinks. also she was able split up the checks among 10 people Drinks I order the fall fashioned and the sweater weather. Fall fashion was like any other old fashion but the sweater weather was very delicious. I order a lobster bisque and it was quite flavorful and rich. only down side is that there wasnt enough lobster in the bisque. The entrée was a pork belly and it was tender with a nice crunchy crust. the corn bread pudding was on par and the poach pear sweetness adds another layer of flavor. Dessert was raspberry chocolate cake and it was great. rich chocolateness and the raspberry sauce made it easier to continue eating it. overall, i am coming back again!

My wife and I sat at the bar during Restaurant week and were so surprised at the attitude and energy of the staff. We had 4 – 5 different workers chatting with us about food selections, beer choices, cocktails, etc. That all well and good, but all the above must be great… and it was. The cocktails were tasty and the food recos exceptional. Thanks K&T as we had a very nice experience at your place. Can’t wait to come back!

I had this bookmarked for a while so I had some high hopes. Though they had a restaurant week menu, it didn’t seem like a deal compared to the a la carte. The meal and service was slightly lackluster. the food and drinks were slow to arrive. the drinks were not memorable. when the food finally arrived, my BF’s steak was cold. Within a minute, the couple sitting next to us mentioned their steak order was cold too. Long story short, the restaurant did replace the steaks. while we were waiting for fresh steaks, we shared my ciopinno(see below) and mostly finished it. we weren’t too hungry for the steak but waited anyway. the good: –Lobster bisque — I usually think lobster bisque is overrated but their bisque is different… it has coconut or spice or something that made it addictive. — Ciopinno had a good flavor with a spice kick. I was just thrown off by the sun chokes… I though the dish had raw potato as it was super crunchy. I tried to tell the waiter who corrected me that it was sunchokes. — service was friendly and checked in on us. I think they knew we were waiting for our order. Bad: — Skirt steak was cold when it finally arrived. the 2nd batch was fine but it wasn’t anything to write home about. the homemade tator was cool though. — beets and burrata — fairly disappointed. the beets were thin slivers and looked like carpaccio with an arugula salad and less than substantial amount of burrata. not worth it. — food was slow to arrive

Opted for this brunch place after seeing glorious pictures of the burgers. When my boyfriend and I arrived, the restaurant was packed and the hostess informed us they were completely booked. Although another couple was about the be seated at the bar, she hunted for some extra stools and quickly squeezed us in without a reservation. Despite my better judgement, my boyfriend and I skipped the burger in favor of shrimp and grits. This dish was surprisingly incredible. It wasn’t the overly rich and heavy meal your thinking of. It was flavorful, balanced and truly delicious. We also ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes. Expectedly rich, but so tasty and worth every sweet cinnamony bite. The bartender/owner was our server at the bar. He mixed a spicy Bloody Mary with an original twist. He was a super nice guy who genuinely enjoys his job and interacting with customers. We even got a special taste of their seasonal mimosa with a cactus juice. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to branch out and find a delicious brunch place without a 2 hour wait or a line out the door. You won’t be disappointed.

Dined here for brunch with my girlfriend during restaurant week. We hadn’t realized it was restaurant week so we failed to make a reservation but were able to be seated at the bar. The bar tender was actually one of the restaurants owners which made for a really great experience. He and all the staff were super friendly and gave really great food recommendations. The restaurant week brunch special was $ 22 for a drink, entrée and side. Due to the recommendation I went with the shrimp and grits with two poached eggs. I was afraid that the plate would be over run with overly torch grits but the dish was perfectly sized and balanced. The shrimp were fresh and delicious. I must say though that my favorite part of the meal was the Bloody Mary. I have never had a bloody like that. It is slightly darker then you would anticipate. This is because it is made with Guinness which made me skeptical at first but this thing was great. Perfectly mixed with a dash of celery salt and pepper served Ina glass with a lemon, lime, and pickle. This place really prides itself on doing everything the right way. While eating I saw the bar tender remake a few drinks before serving them because they were to his standard. This is a mark of a well run restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

So many stars!!! Where to start. We had 11 for brunch today and they were so accommodating. A couple of orders were wrong or forgotten so we had to wait. Minor inconvenience but no biggie. We ate and enjoyed ourselves in the adorably decorated restaurant. The bills came(separate which is amazing) and they didn’t charge us for our second round of drinks! They also brought us a couple orders of cinnamon roll pancakes to make up for the delay/mistake! Not many places do this so it was such a nice gesture! The food and drink(bloodies were amazing) were so good so will def be back. Thanks Iman!

The cocktails were well made and the staff was friendly, but that’s where the highlights end for this place I’m afraid. The food was overpriced(this is definitely not a «$$» place), our Brussels sprouts were cold, the fried chicken and deviled eggs were bland, and it took an unacceptably long time for our order to arrive. Our waiter did not check up on us often enough, either. Even receiving the bill took a long time. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.

My wife was dying to try this place, and looking at the Unilocal photos made it look so appetizing. I have to agree with some of the other Unilocalers who said it tasted pretty basic and nothing mind blowing. We ordered a bit of everything from each section of the menu. I can truly say, the devil eggs is not worth your time. BUT the CRABCAKES on the other hand was a great pallet cleanser, nice flavors and great balance of citrus and herbs. We ordered a burger which was quite good. Overall ambience was good, service was nice. But food wisr, definitely nothing that will have you craving to comeback… but than again there menu does change frequently.

Brunch was a hit! The coffee was spot on — not bitter, nice and hot. Hubby had pork shoulder benedict — it was to die for, seriously, the giardiniera hollandaise & tender pork was melt-in-your-mouth. I had the K&T hash — I don’t know how they prepared the brussel sprouts but just the fragrance coming off the dish was amazing.

Our favorite neighborhood brunch spot of late. We’ve been a few times now and we have been impressed with the high quality and attention to detail of their dishes. Notable dishes: cinnamon roll pancakes and cheesy grits. I’m craving it as I type this! On top of that, we always get friendly and warm service. Can’t wait to go back soon. Cheers Knife & Tine and keep up the great work!

The atmosphere is awesome very relaxing and the atrium is a cute little spot for more light and an outdoor feel. The food was amazing. My roommate and I both got burgers and they were very good. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because our server was a little too pushy with recommending the most expensive bottles of wine and entrees on the menu.

Came here for a ladies brunch in the past & really enjoyed it! Just had dinner and LOVED it! Flavored, service, and great value for the quality this place is a solid 5! We used to frequent the former restaurant in this spot, Sprout and were bummed when it closed but we are so pleased w what it is now! Ok so the food. Snacks: popcorn & deviled eggs(2 pc in an order). They were both good. The eggs were so exceptionally good that the hubs ordered a 2nd round! We shared the mussels. Good portion & nice light flavor. Then we both ordered the specials. He had the pork belly & I had the grouper. Again, loved the flavor profile… we cleared our plates. They were good portions but not large. We can’t wait to return as we really enjoyed every element of our experience!!!

I’m not a fan of reservations because I never know what type of food I might want days or weeks in advance. So — during the holidays, we love trying more popular places because we can usually get in w/o much notice. This past Saturday night was no exception at Knife and Tine. We sat in the Atrium — which is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend sitting there each time — high ceilings and brick façade. It was just a very relaxing atmosphere with good background music playing. Food-wise — we started with the shishito peppers. The Gorgonzola maple fondue that accompanies the peppers was really good, and I liked the peppers. Since we opted not to have dessert in the beginning of the meal, we ordered the always filling shrimp and grits and honey butter fried chicken w/biscuits. The shrimp was overcooked, but the hush puppies and grits were the shining stars. Both excellent — but very filling. The chicken was nicely cooked and juicy, and while the biscuits were average, they came with a pesto aioli sauce that was a star hit. We could have kept eating the biscuits if we had more of that sauce. As I said, we ordered the big meals, so we had no room for dessert — but next time b/c several of them sounded good — something about pralines and butterscotch!!! For drinks — we ordered two cocktails. Neither were my favorite(one was like a margarita and the other was the peach drink). I would stick with wine next time. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful on suggestions on the menu. She always checked on us to see if we wanted anything else — which is much appreciated. While there were a few dislikes on items we ordered, Knife and Tine is a place we would try again as there were more hits than misses.

Our group tried the Shishito Peppers, Tenderloin Skewers, Mussels from the starters and Pork Belly, Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Shrimp & Grits, Cioppino, Seared Trout Brussel Salad, and Vegetable Gumbo from mains. The Knife & Tine has flavors for every palate, from creamy shrimp & grits with large shrimp and hushpuppies to the brussel salad or vegetable gumbo. If your partner is looking for ‘just’ a burger, the burger is excellent as well, according to some in our group who had been at the Knife & Tine before. There is a Sunday brunch that is very popular as well. The Knife & Tine is part of the renaissance of Southern Flavor sweeping through New American dining. Back home in Minneapolis, we have restaurants like Smack Shack and Freehouse that incorporate southern charm in their cooking. I try to bring some of this flavor into my own cooking, which is vegetarian, with collard greens with curry, eggs with hot sauce, etc. I was very impressed with the Knife & Tine’s take on New American, inventing new flavors I had not experienced back in Minneapolis. We had a group of 8, and the Knife & Tine is perfect for large groups. While we were there, there was a group of 40 in a dining area in the front that can be separated from the main restaurant by glass and wood patio doors. There is also a private dining room in the back that can seat around 10. We were in the main dining area where the bar is. The Knife & Tine is great for conversation. There are very high, maybe 15 ft, and dining rooms are divided with wood and glass. Our large group could carry on conversations without raising voices. The music has a modern beat that adds to the energy of the experience without drowning out conversation.

Delightful! Lovely ambiance. Attentive yet thoughtful service. Delicious food. Great wine/cocktail list. I didn’t order the burger but wished I had. FYI… What more could you want out of a spot for a lovely night out with mom and grandma?

I wanted to come back as I was eating my first meal here. The beer can chicken was so moist, the fjord sea trout was tasty and the skin was nicely crisp. The fried chicken on the other table loooooooked soooooo good that I wish we had ordered one to share! The service was very attentive. The only thing lacking is the dessert. The cookie and milkshakes we ordered looked good, but i felt like they forgot to add sugar to the dessert…

Stopped in around 6 p.m. on the Wed. before Thanksgiving. It was pretty empty, probably because of the upcoming holiday. We were greeted right away, helped right away, but the place felt forgotten. We had several questions about the menu that were answered with the information already presented on the menu. I would have liked more explanation and understanding about the dishes we wanted to order. I was also sad about the lack of vegetarian options and chance to remove the meat from some of the dishes. The lack of elimination of ingredients and substitutions disappointed me. For example, we really wanted to try the Deviled Eggs, but they cannot make them without the bacon. The items we did order were pretty good, which is why I give three stars. I think they could up their game a bit. So only A-OK. For stars we shared the Shishito Peppers. Everyone loved them with the fondue dipping sauce. You get a large portion as well. We also had the Brussels Sprouts(sans the chorizo). Not my favorite preparation but others at the table thought they were pretty good. The preparation was not as crispy or firm for my liking. The seasoning was a bit bland. Maybe the chorizo adds he missing element, and we missed out. Two people ordered the soup of the day, lobster bisque and raved about it! We also had the Basil, Beets and Buratta. I only had the Buratta but the basil past drizzled on top was a nice touch. For mains around the table we ordered the trout special with the raviolo. It was a very large plate and great presentation. You received one large raviolo with a soft cooked egg in the middle with the fish next to it. We had the crab cakes as a main, but I was told they were not that great. I had the Chicken and Dumplings. It sounded so fun and warm and hearty for the holidays. Maybe my hopes were set too high, but it was bland. The chicken was most from the broth and you get four-five neatly made dumplings. I just missed the salt or seasoning or something to make all the ingredients come together. On a side note, the butter that they serve with the bread is outstanding. We had two different kinds over the course of our meal. I think the flavor changes constantly so I won’t excite you with the kinds that we had.

I seriously wish burger binge week could be every week. Knife & Tine showed up strong to the elite opening event bringing their delicious burgers and those fine homemade pickles – so strong that I decided to visit them for a second go-around. Since it was my first time here, I was surprised just at how nice the restaurant is. There’s large atrium style seating with great natural lighting and stone brick walls. It seems like a great spot to take a date(there were a lot of couples here). My group cut right to the chase and we all ordered the K&T burger. Just like at the elite event, the burgers were fantastic. You get two medium cooked patties, awesome sauce, and white cheddar on a soft yet sturdy bun. I think it’s the first time I’ve been to a «nicer» restaurant and been served a double cheeseburger. It was unique, and the proportions of meat, topping, and bun were spot on. Along with the burger came a sizable portion of fries that were fresh and well seasoned. Nothing but good things to say about K&T. Our server was a nice guy, although I couldn’t tell if he hated us or not since there was something a little off about his demeanor. I’m always self conscious that a waiter is judging me for using a deal, and rightfully so since people have probably been giving terrible tips all week long. But other than that K&T is a great spot and I hope to be back again!

Unilocal’s Burger Binge Week brought me to this fine spot. Knife and Tine, did you know the word«Tine» means prongs essentially like that on a fork. Huh! I guess I learn something everyday. Supposedly the naming of the restaurant came from one of the owner’s mom or grandma and she just blurted out«Knife & Tine». The others just said«Oh Shit, I kinda like that, lets roll with it». Tired and exhausted from walking most of the day I was looking forward to devouring this dreamy burger. From the outside you would not expect to get a big juicy burger, as it is one of the few Fine Dining spots in the area but without the pretentious bullshit that you receive from them, but their burger is a winner. The K&T Beef Burger was a double patty with pickles, Cheddar Cheese, sauce, and Carmelized onions. A well-balanced burger that still allowed me to taste the actual meat. It was not the best burger I have had but it was just a small notch below. What really impressed me was they offered fries with their $ 5 burger special, an offer most others fail to do. The fries were also quite good, crispy with nice flavoring. They do not skimp here as they truly do care about providing a Poitier dining experience. Well done! Looking at the menu I noticed many items that I do not see very often making a future visit inevitable. Arancini Balls, a Cheese Plate, Butternut Souflee, Rabbit and Pork Sausage, and a Bibb Salad. These delectable offerings along with outstanding and knowledgeable personnel will put Knife & Tine into my Lincoln Park rotation go-to-spots.
