The Waxing Room

I have been going to The Waxing Room for about 3 months and have recieved the best services from Katie. She is absolutely amazing! She is gentle, very professional, super knowledgeable and very thorough. Plus she is great to talk to and walks you through the whole waxing procedure.

I decided to go here based on the reviews to have my eye brows waxed. The staff was nice and professional but the wax job was horrible. I have blonde hair, so I understand that it’s hard to see, but I have so much hair left behind. Most of it was left in between my eyebrows which is probably one of the easiest spots to clean up. I even told the girl that I could see she missed a lot but her second attempt didn’t do much. Needless to say I won’t be going back and I already need to have my eyebrows touched up.

I saw Sabrina at The Waxing Room and she did a really thorough job of my wax. Their prices are really fair, and yet she informed me of a discount I didn’t know I was eligible for! I’ll be going back for sure.

I love Taylor at The Waxing Room! Bikini waxes can be awkward but never with Taylor. She is friendly and professional and is great to chat with while getting waxed. I highly recommend trying this place if you have time to make an appointment and want a quick, affordable wax!
Update: I had Marcella this time because Taylor was unavailable. She’s great too!

Just had a pleasant experience waxing with Katie. She was very thorough and talked me through the whole procedure, putting me at ease. I definitely will be visiting again.

The waxing room is clean, with a bright lobby and appears to be well maintained. For sometime I was seeing an employee there name Yana. However in the last week or so she has left that salon (or room you could say). So today I went for a bikini and underarm wax with a young lady named Taylor! I don’t know the hiring protocol but Yana was wonderful and today my first experience with Taylor was fantastic. The waxing was respectful. Clean and with neat pulls. Taylor knew when to press to alleviate the pain and when it was not necessary to do so. While sometimes you can feel a pulling or tugging that was not the case. Taylor was professional, didn’t talk a whole lot (which I appreciated –although Yana didn’t either). She made sure of what I wanted and exuded confidence in doing her line of work. There’s nothing worst that a ‘waxer’ who appears nervous. What I must highlight and what I really appreciated was the clean up job. NOT AN OUNCE of wax was left on me. Both waxed area where powered, cleaned and with no left over wax on me. I was very grateful. I literally driver 45 minutes from the south side of Chicago (Beverly) to the Waxing room. So if you want my personal opinion … they are the go to spot for waxing in all of Chicago.

Taylor is my girl! I have never had a wax that wasn’t at least a little painful until now. I kept waiting for the painful part to start but before I knew it I was done! Taylor made me feel totally comfortable and we chatted the entire time. My last wax before this was truly the most horrendous experience I’ve ever had (read: I was missing part of my skin) so I was a little hesitant that that would happen again. Taylor was so gentle, great technique and very thorough tweeting after ever couple of pulls. Will definitely be back to see Taylor and at the price at $ 55 can’t beat it!

I have sensitive skin and thus have had issues in the past when trying a new waxer. After just moving to Chicago I realized my lip and eyebrows were in serious need of waxing. I did an insane amount of research and found the waxing room, hoping for a good experience. I was wrong, I told her I wanted them thicker, she waxed them thinner than they’ve ever been. I told her I had been burnt before and have a sensitive skin. She burnt both eyebrows. I’d tell you who waxed me, but she never even introduced herself. This place is not worth it.

Most important to note — they don’t double dip. This is key for hygienic reasons.
They do great Brazilians, but the only reason I go there is for Taylor. She’s amazing and if she leaves, I don’t know what I’ll do. There are always new faces there, which worries me.
The Brazilians are as painless as a Brazilian can possibly be, thanks to various types of waxes being used for different kinds of skin, as well as ice packs and otherwise. All very good.
I haven’t done eyebrows here, as they are a little expensive. Had my boyfriend do a back wax there and he didn’t speak to me for hours :) the woman doing it could have been more gentle and patient, so that was unfortunate.
All in all — do Brazilians there and build a relationship with someone good and hope they stick around!

I walked in the door, and I automatically liked the atmosphere — clean, but without that clinically sterile feeling. No one wants to walk into a waxing feeling like they’re heading for the operating table. My aesthetician was Marcella. She was friendly, attentive, and, as we were going on through what was supposed to be a Brazilian wax, very kindly offered to do a French bikini instead. It’s been years since I waxed, so taking a step that drastic just wasn’t the best of ideas for me. It was a neat and thorough job delivered by a real pro. I will definitely be back!

Marcella was very accommodating. The cashier, on the other hand, was so obnoxious and not hospitable. Considering all the pain I’d went through and the $$$ bill. I needed her to be a bit more pleasant. Until next time…

I returned and saw Sabrina. She is everything. Go to Sabrina, now.

The idea of wax ripping hair follicles out from the roots freaked me out but I was going to Miami and I wanted a smooth back. I’m not going to say it tickled, but wow was my preconception based on the «30 year old virgin» movie completely wrong. I don’t remember the girls name who did my waxing but she made me feel at ease from beginning to end.
Side note: Bring your phone charged and ready to Shazam the music in the shop. Cool stuff I hadn’t heard in ages.

I had a great experience at the waxing room. I was able to get a same day appointment for a Brazilian wax and Passion was great! She was friendly and knew what she was doing. It wasn’t painless (of course) but it was tolerable and quick. I will return to see Passion again. The salon was clean and the receptionist was very sweet.

Marcella is awesome. I clearly have been going to the wrong places for years! Hard wax? Who knew! Painless, quick and easy! No need in doing the same spot 2 or 3 times. I will definitely be going back!

Yana is amazing. She is very kind and knows exactly what she is doing. I saw her for a brazilian wax. She explained what she was doing as she went along and also gave me a few tips on maintenance. She made an uncomfortable experience quite pleasant. I’ll be back, and I’ll request her.

This is my default, uh, waxing room? I really love it here. The atmosphere is relaxing but not stuffy. It’s easy to find, especially off of the red line or bus system.
Every waxer here is a true pro and super nice, too. I’ve had Sabrina as my esthetician most often, and she’s kind, patient, and hilarious. The hard wax is a nice upgrade re: pain reduction, and everyone here is helpful and able to talk specifics about what you want done (e.g. eyebrow shapes — never as simple as some might think!).
Prices are decent for the area and gratuity is cash only, which might cause me to deduct a star in an alternate universe… but I can’t do that at such a good place!

Yana knows whats up.
Great conversationalist. I often get mad social anxiety, and she’s great. She educated me on exfoliation, what time of my cycle is best to come in etc… And i haven’t had my eyebrows looking this great since i was probably 15.
Great prices, service, and easy to make appointments.

Gone to The Waxing Room twice to get my eyebrows done. First time was back in February and second time now. I have tried to call a few times the day off and they are always booked. Learned to call now ahead. Always being busy is a good sign. Taylor and Yana have both done my eyebrows. They did a fabulous job! Very pleased with the results.

After reading about the waxing room on Unilocal I decided to go in and check it out. I was very pleased with the presentation of the business, it was extremely clean which is a huge plus! When I walk in each time the staff kindly greets me and makes me feel welcomed, they are also very helpful with products. I go to Yana and she is the best! She is professional, friendly and knowledgable about her work, as well as products. I definitely recommend this place, seeing as though I travel far just to go here!
