Khyber Pass in Lake view is a great dining experience. Authentic Indian food and warm atmosphere is wonderful. Frontier lamb as well as chicken tikka masala are mouth watering. Can’t say enough about service. Personal attention and suggestions from our host made us feel at home. Don’t forget garlic naan! Delicious! Also bring your favorite wine.

This place is really great! I first came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The service was friendly and fast and the food was really high quality. Unlike anything else I’ve had in Chicago. You can tell it’s authentic and they put love in their food. Their saag paneer had HUGE chunks of paneer which was amazing! Also highly recommend their butter chicken or butter lamb. 2nd time I ate here, it was for pick up. They accidentally left out one of the naans I ordered so they comped me with an extra non for forgetting! Super nice. This is my definitely my go to Indian restaurant!

This place has been great. Cheap and good. But lately I have been noticing quality inconsistency. The food doesn’t seem fresh at times and not as good in general. This used to be our go to place for good Indian but I guess we need to look for another one…

My boyfriend loves their chicken biryani!(For higher credibility, he grew up in India.) Nice environment for dinner. Very good service. Have tried a couple of their dishes, all very good. This is our go-to Indian food place.

It just didn’t work the other day. We had Chicken Biryani and a Tandoori Chicken. Awful. Tasteless. Rubbery.

The two of us had dinner here on a Wednesday night and had no problem getting a table. We had the Akbari Dinner, Samosa Chaat, and Mughlai Gosht Soup, all of which were delicious and reasonably-portioned. Service was excellent, and the interior was nicely decorated.

My experience with this place wasn’t pleasant. I ordered saag paneer and naan for carryout. I was quoted 20 – 30 minutes for pickup. I was in the area when I made the call and decided to show up early and eat in. About 10 minutes after placing my order I walked in and informed the individual behind the counter that I had placed the phone order for carryout and would like to dine in. There were two open tables in the small establishment, but the guy told me to wait as there were no open tables. I assumed he’d seat me after one of the other customers left. I waited a few minutes and the idiot is holding a takeout bag with my diner in it and starts to ring me up. He had no intention to seat me. I don’t know if he didn’t like the idea of me dining alone or what his deal was, but this was unacceptable. Reluctantly I paid and went home with the food. I got home and opened the bag. The naan appeared fine, but the saag paneer was a joke. It was a bowl full of saag with only FIVE pieces of paneer. This is unacceptable and should be criminal. I ate the saag with the bits of paneer and must say it was the most tasteless garbage I’ve eaten in awhile. I will not be going back and will not be recommending this garbage establishment to anyone. I am going to call my credit card tomorrow to dispute the fraudulent charges for the garbage I was given. I can’t wait until this trashy location closes.

Worst Indian vegetarian food ever. And expensive. Paneer makhani had so much food color(which is pretty bad from health standpoint) it was unbelievable. Not tasty at all. Mango lassi was terrible. It had a sour taste. Naan was pretty bad as well. Not fluffy at all. For the price, I’d eat anywhere else.

Oh my god do I love Khyber Pass! I grew up going to their Oak Park location and was super excited to hear about their new Lakeview space. To be honest, I love Indian food, and Khyber Pass delivers(literally haha). So many great vegan options and a clearly labeled menu make me super happy. Their food is to die for, bread and entrees and appetizers, and the staff is just great! Probably the best in the area :)

I didn’t like the food here at all. Maybe it’s hit or miss. Had a couple of very basic traditional dishes, they were awful. We didn’t finish our food and ended up throwing most of it out. Disappointing because it was not cheap. Maybe it was just an off night… But I don’t see myself ordering from here again.

Came Saturday at 9pm as a group of 3. There were a few other occupied tables. Space was intimate and cozy. Right away when we were seated, we were informed that their kitchen was closing in a few minutes and that they needed to take our orders soon. To our understanding, the place closed at 10:30. A few other people came in after us and were informed that they were now closed. I’m looking at their website and on Unilocal and both hours say 10:30 on the weekends, so something’s not adding up. I hate it when places just decide to close early because they want to. So from the beginning, we already felt a bit rushed. To further my disappointment, they did not have papadum at that time. We ended up getting cheese pakora to share, along with regular naan and garlic kulcha. The paneer did not seem fresh. The accompanied cilantro chutney and tamarind sauces were somewhat lackluster. The naan and kulcha were pretty good… warm and soft. I got the chicken saag and this was satisfying. A large plate of basmati rice was served for our entrees. Overall, the food was decent and satisfied my Indian food cravings. Definitely wouldn’t mind coming back, but they definitely have some kinks to work out, especially on the service side, as it was a bit loopy.

This place was excellent. Our service was great and the food superb. The garlic naan is very large and quite delish. My husband and I shared the butter chicken and badami chicken specialties. Both were fabulous. Each had a hint of spice, but it didn’t overpower the meal. Will definitely be back! We love Indian food. :) It’s small, but cozy. Not ideal for large groups. It’s also BYOB which is a plus!

This spot was a pleasant surprise. Stopped with the family after Blue Man Group and thoroughly enjoyed the authenticity of the space and food. We each ordered something different and everyone loved what they ordered. We had the MUGHLAIGOSHTSOUP… Very rich and tasty; the TANDOORIPRAWNS, the SAAGGOSHT, the CHICKENTIKKAMASALA and the LAMBVINDALOO. Our appetizer, the Chicken Pakora, was a little dry for my taste. All was well prepared, service was good, and atmosphere was cozy. I wish I could give a 4.5!

I am not Indian although I have many Indian friends. I usually don’t like indian food, but I was brought here with a good friend and I absolutely fell in love with the chicken tikka and the naan. The service was fast and amazing. I am Hispanic and not use to Indian food and spices. I highly recommend you to try it. The restaurant is very intimate and has a peaceful vibe. Go check it out ASAP if you do or do not like Indian food!!! Enjoy at khyber pass

As a large mammal, I tend to consume a great deal of food, but I don’t just like quantity — I demand quality as well. In this regard, Khyber Pass does not disappoint. I’ve eaten both in the restaurant, as well as having food delivered to my apartment, and in both instances the naan was warm and tasty, and the butter chicken and Samosas were phenomenal. If you happen to be in the Clarke and Hallstead area I highly recommend you check them out. In case you’re wondering why they only have four stars instead of five, it’s because a five-star experience must be truly exceptional and while the food is delicious and the servers are courteous, it didn’t quite meet that five-star standard.

Wow. So, let’s start with full disclosure. I am not Indian, and do not profess to be an Indian food expert. However, I have eaten a lot of it – in many places in the world. Until today, the best I had ever had was a little second floor place in Edinburgh Scotland. This place is seriously good. It’s a typical small storefront with about 20 tables. Appears to do a lot of carry-out and delivery. There was only one other table eating at 12:30 on a Wednesday. The server was friendly and helpful. We started a papadum – the sauces tasted freshly made and the wafers had more flavor than typical. We had the ginger chicken and the chicken tikki masala. Both were amazingly good. The chicken was not a bit dry or overcooked. The sauces were great – the flavors far more complex than one often gets. The biryani rice had cinnamon sticks in it to gently flavor. The naan was fresh and tasty. The chai was good. Seriously, some of the best Indian food we’ve ever had. It took longer to cook than most, but I suspect that’s because it was not all sitting under a heat lamp waiting to be served, but prepared freshly. Tip: You can park for it legally at the CVS parking lot next door. Hooray!

Ordered the Lamb Vindaloo and the Chicken Biryani for takeout. Both were good, I was surprised that there wasn’t much curry/gravy in the vindaloo which is my favorite part. It tasted very. tart or acidic, it seems like they added too much vinegar in the dish. It was a little spicy, but not killer spicy. Overall I still liked it besides the lack of gravy. The chicken biryani was good as well, but they included too many spices that need to be taken out like the cloves and cardamon pods. I bit into those into a few times and it soured my face… way too much flavor in those things. I liked the biryani while my friend said it wasn’t good(but still ate it). The portion size for the biryani was huge. The side of rice was pretty small, they didn’t really pack the rice in there at all. I wish I could give this place a 3.5, but I’ll round up to a 4 and give it a pass.
