I loved this place… good raw fish memories… but I just walked by and see they are gone. Goodbye all-you-can-eat Sushi for $ 15 till 4pm.

This is Lakeview. I set my bar for restaurants down low. Way low. So every once in a while a place surprises me by serving up good food at a price commensurate with their peers for the value. Sapporo New Peking is good but not great. If you want great, head to a place called Macku Sushi, where you’ll spend three to four times as much and get artfully detailed sushi treats. But you’re at Sapporo, so loosen your belt and get ready for decent, tasty sushi that’s all you can eat. There’s just enough on their lunch menu to keep me happy, though they’re lacking on a lot of side dishes and rolls other places would have. Their dinner menu is much larger and offers nearly double the amount of sushi and rolls than the lunch menu. I admit: I’m a fan. Four solid stars for an unpretentious restaurant that looks clean, doesn’t smell fishy and isn’t difficult to get in. I imagine the dinner crowd gives the one waitress a busy time, but I was one of only three people during lunch and never waited too long for water refills or sushi orders.

It was one of the only sushi places open on Thanksgiving night so my friend and I decided to give it a go. We’ve never been to a place to have All You Can Eat Sushi before and were kind of excited, especially since it was only 18.99 per person. The selection seemed pretty good but the sushi we received was definitely below average. The rolls and the piece of sashimi I tried didn’t taste too fresh, but the little non-sushi items like the miso soup were fine. All in all it wasn’t a terrible experience, but it’s way easier to find a better sushi elsewhere. Won’t be visiting again.

Why all the hatin’ on Sapporo New Peking? Perhaps I’m not a sushi expert, but their sushi tasted just fine to me. The All You Can Eat deal is great. And the Chinese options are good too.(General Tso’s was very yummy.) One caution, though: For take out, order online or in person. I’ve ordered over the phone a few times now, and every time the order was slightly off. Food: good. Employees’ English: not so good.

Ugh, gross. This is bad Chinese food. Way too salty and no flavor. The crab rangoon was paired with neon red #40 sauce, Mongolian Beef had no kick to it, despite requesting extra spicy on Grub Hub, Moo Shu pork had no veggies and the hot and sour soup was not hot, and grossly thick. The manfriend was satisfied with his teriyaki salmon, which he said tasted okay, but looked like airport food. I’m giving them one star because they put ton of fliers all around in our building, which is just a no-no.

Went in for the all-you-can-eat dinner special. I was satisfied with what we got. The sushi itself isnt top notch, but well worth the price you pay for it. We enjoyed some of the appetizers as well, such as vegetable and shrimp tempura. I would call the service average as well considering they seemed to only have one person for the whole place. There are certainly better all-you-can-eat sushi places out there, but for this location and price, I’d be surprised if we didn’t go again.

Was attracted to the«All you can eat» sushi deal. I live around the corner and would love to indulge my sushi appetite more often. This was definitely a «you get what you pay for» situation. The shrimp in the Shumai appetizer tasted fishy. As for the sushi, It wasn’t bad or spoiled but definitely not the highest quality or freshest sushi that I have eaten. A friend ordered the Orange Chicken. Again, it wasn’t bad but definitely not something that I would recommend. The staff was polite and the service was good but I don’t think that I will be returning.

One of the best sushi joints in the city! The rolls are always fresh and reasonably priced, the staff is friendly and remembers regulars, their delivery service is speedy and who can beat $ 18.99 all-you-can-eat. I’ve never had a poor experience and I’ve been eating there for about a year now. I’d recommend it to anyone.

First off, I ordered take out and whir waiting for my food, I noticed they were microwaving everyone’s food who was eating in. They would take a plate, put the food on it and just zap it in the microwave. I tried to look past this but it did seem strange. When I got home, I took out my food and noticed the sesame chicken that I ordered looked and tasted nothing like a typical sesame. The worst part is yet to come. After my fourth piece of chicken, I noticed the next one looked a little dark. I cut it in half to see that it was actually some sort of seafood. It was either a mussel or an oyster. I cut the next piece open and saw it was literally some sort of fish with little bones in it. I threw the box in the trash and tried not to get sick. Do not eat here!

Got a groupon now for this restaurant. Terrible! regret of being there. First off, I had a miso soup, and there was a bug in the soup. Then there come the sushi. Tuna was not fresh at all. I would say if you are looking for good food, definitely not consider this place.

The all you can eat sushi for less than $ 20 is some of the better sushi I’ve had a «buffet.» I have to say the ease of dining here gets me every time. And the BYOB is a nice touch. I would love to enjoy some hot sake with my sushi, but I can easily overlook that when the sushi is pretty good. A nice glass of wine will easily substitute.

The sushi here is below average. The service is good but thats about it. They have all you can eat sushi but the sushi is not good. This is also a chinese food restaurant, they should stick to that. The place is pretty lonely and they dont even put on any music.

This place caught my eye with their«All You Can Eat Sushi» sign because I loooove sushi even though this was my first AYCE sushi place. The AYCE sushi dinner is $ 18.99/person, and I would say it’s a good deal if you like rolls. After you’re seated and choose the AYCE option, they give you these green menus that you write on to order. We had miso soup and edamame to start off with, and then we had: Chicago Roll: one of my faves Pauls Roll: good Under Control Roll: good Nigiri: not as fresh as I expected. I usually sushi-gasm over yellowtail and salmon, yellowtail especially, but sadly I didn’t even feel the beginnings of a sushi-gasm when I had the yellowtail, and the salmon was okayy… but not gasm worthy. Sigh. The AYCE option doesn’t come with sashimi, but you can choose them as an add-on. Medium fatty tuna — $ 2/piece Blue Fin fatty tuna — $ 3.5/piece Smoke salmon — $ 1/piece So yes try out this place if you’re into rolls, but pass up this place if you’re into nigiri and sashimi like I am. As for ambiance and service, this place feels like a regular greasy Chinese restaurant. Meh.

Holy Lord, this place is amazing! My wonton soup is still so hot, it’s scalding my tongue, and yet I cannot wait another minute to review this place! It’s down the street from where I work– which is incredibly populated by other sushi/Japanese joints. Called in an order for pickup, and it was ready in 5 minutes– AND super cheap to boot! I love any place that still has creative rolls for under $ 5. I’ll be coming back here ALL the time.

If you’re looking for a really affordable sushi place, give this place a try. The sushi buffet is only around $ 17 for dinner, and they are open until 10−11pm on most days. The selection is a little sparse, but the rolls are fun. The Crazy Tuna roll is very good. They have some interesting combinations and names for their rolls like soft shell crab and eel. The fish for the nigiri is good, but I’ve definitely had better; it’s not bad quality, just not the best I’ve had at a buffet. The appetizers are really good. I suggest the Yaki Ika(grilled squid), the gyoza, and the fried chicken pieces. The service is very friendly(got free ice cream once), but sometimes slow since they only have one sushi chef working at a time. Overall, it’s a nice place for a sushi fix.

Is it possible to have superbly crafted, beautiful, delicious and FRESH sushi delivered to your door? Why yes, yes it is. And for just $ 2.50 with a $ 10 minimum. Sushi restaurants in Lakeview East are a dime a dozen it seems, but Sushi Sapporo stood out for their inexpensive staples($ 3.95−5.95 for tuna, salmon, etc. maki) and for their more complicated rolls, like the Supersonic(spicy scallop, shrimp, avocado, smoked salmon). Sashimi ranged from $ 1.50-$ 3.50 and it was FRESH, people. Like came with an attitude and a finger snap when we didn’t bite into our yellow tail soon enough. No escolar on the menu though, sad face. Since we were famished, we went right on ahead and ordered some steaming hot egg flower soup and chicken teriyaki to cap off our sushi order. Ordering online is mega simple, and first time orders are 20% off.
