Their pork fried rice was 10⁄10! So hard to find good rice this place nailed it. Everything else was decent.

This is the absolute worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. The food was soggy and the meat was covered with fried fat. I highly recommend that people do not give this place a chance.

I really love this place. order online for quick and easy pick up! the egg fu yung was top notch! my boyfriend had the chicken with veggies and loved it as well. I wasn’t head over heels for the sesame chicken I got but I’m super picky — theirs has a strong peanut flavor to the sauce and was not quite what I was looking for but it was still good. They lady who works behind the counter term is always very sweet and welcoming. I’m so happy that Bamboo Garden is a quick train or bike ride or drive from my place! so happy to have found a good Chinese place in Chicago!

My boyfriend and I ordered here for a night in. Delivery was prompt and the delivery man was very nice. We got the crab rangoon, orange chicken, kung pao beef and chicken fried rice. Everything was good! The beef was a little spicy for my tastes(we got it in «medium») but it had chunks of fresh veggies, which I really enjoyed. The quality of the meat was also great. The orange chicken was mostly breast meat, instead of some places where its mostly breading. Overall a solid meal.

A hidden gem, great Chinese food and very reasonably priced. Super friendly staff. Quick service.

Great little BYOB Chinese restaurant in one of the best areas of the city. There’s a great wine store down the street to stop in on your way there. Crab rangoon is tasty, but the pieces aren’t very big. Whether you’re ordering orange chicken, lo mein noodles, or soup, everything is cooked fresh and still steaming when it comes out. Have also ordered for delivery and takeout. One of my favorite Chinese places in the city, continue to wonder why it’s always completely empty when I’m in there.

Ordered Delivery. Won-Ton soup was adequate. Orange chicken was soggy, lacked any flavor(essentially lightly flavored cornstarch sauce), chicken was overcooked. If I had ordered in the restaurant, I would have returned it. I don’t write reviews often. This was a disappointment as it was listed as a recommended item on Eat24’s app also. I won’t be recommending or ordering again.

I was hesitant to come here because I rarely try places with anything less than a 4 star Unilocal review but this place really exceeded my expectations. Let’s start off with the food — the chicken 65 was the best I have tried. It was the perfect mix of spicy and crispy. I order Mongolian beef at Chinese and Chinese/Indian fusion restaurants and this was the best Mongolian beef I have tried to date(sorry P.F. Chang’s). We also got the noodles with chicken which was great as well. Overall, I was glad that the food wasn’t overly spicy. As far as the restaurant itself, it is surprisingly nice inside and great place to have dinner. The booths were very comfortable and the place was clean. Waiter was attentive and food came out quickly. Will be back again!

A couple on the train had mentioned Bamboo Garden when I was inquiring about a really great Chinese restaurant. They said that BG was one of the best in Chicago. I took the train ride to boys town, going in with high hopes. The restaurant is simply designed, and very casual. The menu matched this. I ordered the Yu Shiang Chicken with an order of egg rolls. The egg rolls were made to order and came to the table piping hot, and were presented with a gorgeous carrot garnish. These egg rolls are what saved this review. They were perhaps the top 3 egg rolls I’ve ever had. What killed this review was the entrée. As stated I ordered the Yu Shiang chicken. I was so excited about my order when it came to the table because it was so much food. However, the entrée tasted like one of those frozen PF Changs meals you can get at a grocery store. I think it was the sauce used. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong entrée because others on Unilocal say they have the best Chinese food in Chicago. Either they don’t know what real tasting Chinese food is or they have extremely low standards. What made me happier at least was the service. The customer service is solid here.

Bamboo Garden is a conveniently located standard American-Chinese spot. It serves appropriately priced food for appropriate quality. This place has BYOB and a large menu. They will deliver also. The fried rice is light on flavor, but at least the ingredients taste fresh. Crab Rangoon is tasty as well. This place is definitely better than Peking Chinese just a few blocks away

Everything is just«ok». The pork fried rice is nothing more than mush with strips of pork. Their spicy is not spicy. It is very mild.

Wow, this was really bad. I read the reviews and thought this would be the perfect place for cheap«American Chinese» carry out but what we got was completely inedible and expensive! 2 apps, 2 entrees and rice and our meal topped $ 40! Ordered the egg rolls(overcooked, greasy and filling was kind of gross), crab rangoon(very little filling, basically a fried wonton), Mongolian beef ‘spicy’(um, not spicy at all but maybe they didn’t see my request), this dish also smelled terrible. as in, I recoiled when I gave it a good sniff. The taste was also off… some ingredient was overpowering it(maybe peanut butter?). Two bites in and I couldn’t make it any further. Also ordered the beef with broccoli. Meat texture was similar to Mongolian beef… wet and unappetizing as if it had been microwaved. PS — It’s not clear when you’re ordering online if dishes COME with white rice and the brown rice is an up-sell…or your only option is to order brown rice. I didn’t want to go without rice so I ordered the brown rice. Sigh.

The Sizzling rice soup is the most delicious I have ever tasted. Heartier than most, with a rich broth, a ton of veggies, and perfectly cooked scallops, chicken, and shrimp The rest of the meal was good, but that soup was noteworthy

I just wanted to update my review. I have been back to try Bamboo Garden. I was disappointed to hear that the dirty delivery driver is still working there, beware on delivery orders. As for the food, it’s a good old school Chinese-American restaurant. If your in the mood for some fried rice, Mongolian beef, or eggplant with garlic sauce; this place is a good find. I’d love to give this place 4 stars, but until I can comfortably order my food delivered, I just can’t.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for Bamboo Garden yet. This has definitely been my go-to spot for Chinese food in the area over these past several years. I’ve had two birthday dinners there and have friends in the suburbs who come over just to eat there. More people need to discover this delicious, humble restaurant! The food is consistently good(although I haven’t had the pleasure to try everything on their menu yet) and the staff are always super friendly. My favorite dishes are Mongolian Beef/Shrimp, General Chow’s Chicken, and the curry fried rice(when I’m in the mood for crazy spicy).

It was fine. We ordered Kung Pao Shrimp which was good, pork dumplings which were surprisingly spicy and delicious, Orange beef which we did not like(too much of a floury coating taste) and veggie fried rice which we thought was fresh but not overly flavorful. In our quest to find our go-to Chinese carryout this ranked somewhere in the middle.

Mark’s Chop Suey closed, and the delivery guys at Peking can’t figure out my buzzer. Thank goodness for Bamboo Garden… Love that Empress Chicken and Crab Rangoon. My new Chinese delivery favorite!

Excellent ‘American’ Chinese food. Sometimes you want a meal that is cheap, unpretentious, plentiful, and delicious. Bamboo Garden will do you just right. Start your meal with a jumbo pot of jasmine tea, then get the Sizzling Rice Soup for«Two». Yeah right — I’ve had four share it! It’s only for«2» if you are eating nothing else, it’s so huge. Other staples such as fried rice, sesame chicken, mapo tofu are all good and what you would expect, with large portions. Good service, and fresh flowers on every table. This is my go-to for a hot delicious meal with friends when we don’t want to do anything fancy, and just want to eat some good food.

I see your«om» and raise you a «nom nom.» I dined in here, which if you’ve read any of my other foodie reviews, that’s a rare event for me. Waitstaff was prompt, friendly and attentive. Keep in mind, I went on a day and time where it wasn’t remotely busy. I had the chicken chow mein and thought it was pretty good. Not blow my mind good, but I wasn’t grossed out. The portion was insane for me. I didn’t get around to ordering and appetizers or soups because the chow mein was more than enough for me. Reasonably priced, about what you’d expect for Chinese food around these parts. Reserving a star because there’s way more on the menu that I haven’t tried. Hoping to remedy that soon!
